We came here on. Friday evening. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but there were a good number of people at the adjoining bar. It was a treat to hear live music while we enjoyed our meal.

First time having dinner here, we've done the brunch buffet several times and just like that, it was delicious. Filet was tasty, I loved the parsnip mash and sauce that came with it. Dessert was great as well. We can definitely recommend the prickly pear creme brulé and carrot cake. Portions and pricing are fair.

Been a while since I ordered a steak anywhere and I found the New York strip here to be as good as you could hope for. Excellent portion for the price too; I've paid double for steaks a quarter the size.

This has been a wonderful stay, the customer service has been amazing and this is the most dog friendly hotel ever!!!

The brunch breakfast (when not Covid season) is awesome! Best buffet brunch around. They are now serving breakfast a plate at a time. We had the southern eggs Benedict and it was delish! The dinner was good. Not over the top but was good! Crab cakes were great The! The bar service is a bit slow at times but ahe does serve good, well made cocktails! The music is so nice during eating. Wish it were a bit longer during the evenings. All in all, it is a great place to eat!

Best burger I've had in a while, nicely cooked and juicy, with a potato bun (of course). Good 'potato' to round it out, and a decadent chocolate cake that came courtesy of the hotel. Would go again even if I wasn't a hotel guest!

My wife and i ordered the fettucini alfredo with smoked salmon. Our very charming waittress came back to the table and apologized and said they were out. She said they had regular salmon and she liked it blackened. It was unbelieveably good. PERFECT. The sauce was fantastic not too heavy, with the right amount of mushrooms and tomatos. The salmon portion was large perfectly seasoned, very moist and flaky. The very best salmon in Boise and we've been everywhere. Order it, it is fantastic. Thx to the chef Ren and our wonderful waittress Lishu!!

Melissa was our waitress, she's packed with personality! The omelet bar was a great touch! Oh, and food is hot and tasty too!

Located in the lobby of The Riverside Hotel 🏨, The Riverside Grill is very spacious. It features Tablecloths and cloth napkins. My Soup 🍲 of the day was very flavorful, the Caesar Salad 🥗 was delicious 😋, and the large portion of Meatloaf was rather crispy but still pretty good. I have been here several times for the Carrot 🥕 Cake 🍰, which has always been excellent 👍. I like the open kitchen design because I like watching the cooks. Jo Lynn is one of my favorite servers in all of Boise!

Our waitress was attentive and adorable, she chatted with us just a bit and had the table cracking up. Food is always great especially fresh omlettes! Going on a weekend is a great vibe for the live music.

We had a great meal! My husband (who is chef) and I went for dinner after work. We’ve been here a couple times and it’s delicious, the prices are also extremely reasonable. Truly an underrated place to have dinner. Classic tendencies but with a creative approach. This will be our new favorite dinning out option.

Our Treasure Valley Wine Society meets here each month to enjoy great wines paired with wonderful food catered by Riverside to enhance our tastings. This antipasto plate was WONDERFUL for our appetizer!

This is an amazing place. Not only did I receive great service, but the food was absolutely fantastic. Not only cooked well, but it exudes real, tried and true flavor. I absolutely love the cauliflower wings and the veggie burger, as well as, the French toast with the strawberry banana sauce here. I had a wonderful experience. I will definitely return in the near future.

Wonderful menu, beautiful plating, and our waitress Lusha was absolutely amazing, she and the manager Angie gave us a tour of the place and informed us of all the upcoming events and concerts! So glad we stumbled upon this restaurant and hotel only because we were looking for a place to eat after 8 pm! Highly recommend checking it out, summertime promises to be even more amazing!

Update: we have spent every Sunday here for about a year now (so approximately 52 brunches I suppose!) this week we had exceptional service. We’ve had this server before and she’s always been great but this time she really went above and beyond. Thanks for the French toast :) I believe her name is Virginia but if I’m wrong, it’s the blonde girl who always has cute nails! I come here for Sunday brunch every week with my boyfriend. $17.99 for buffet and bottomless mimosas, it’s the best deal in town. Wonderful staff is always attentive and punctual. We’ve sat in both the Saphire room and the main entry dining area (as well as the Aspen room for today during remodeling) and it’s always wonderful. The live music (come early) just sets it over the top as far as finer weekend dining goes. I would suggest indulging in the French toast and prime rib. Always exquisite. Riverside never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for making my Sunday’s romantic!

My dad and I went to have brunch and we did not have a reservation. We got a table right away and the waitress was very friendly and fast! I wish they would have had a few more vegan choices but overall it was really good.

We enjoy dining here. We like to listen to the live music. They used to have a blackberry brisket sandwich that was delicious! Happy hour is a great time to try different menu items. I love the lighting with swirled decor. It is always clean and elegant. Highly recommend.

The new fall menu is incredible. Halibut bites were perfectly prepared with delicious sides of spicy mustard, slaw, and tartar sauce. I had to have a Riverside burger and was rewarded with so much flavor from the burger including so many toppings like brisket, egg, bacon, etc. I almost cried. My wife's filet with chimichurri sauce was also delicious, tender and grilled to a perfect medium. Thanks for the lovely evening with outstanding, friendly service from Jolyn, live music and new menu options. We'll return soon!

I had to order the salmon tacos twice they were so good. My husband had the French dip and said it was really good. Just pop on in for a nice dinner and some music. You won't be disappointed.

We had room service delivered to our room this time. I had grilled salmon and stir fried zucchini. It was very good. My wife had a hamburger that i must say was also very good. I do like this place. The breakfast buffet is spectacular I can't wait until morning. The live dining music is awesome

We had reservations for 3 adults. The hosted insisted on sitting us outside the dining room. She wanted us to sit in the bar area at a tiny circular table. The table clearly was designed for having cocktails not dinner for 3 adults. Food was pretty good so it made up for the cramped table

31st person to review Riverside Grill, Boise, Idaho, located inside the Riverside Hotel. Open to the public, not just hotel guests. This is my 380th review on Yelp. I've eaten here twice now. I come here often for work when representing my company on Job Fairs through the Idaho Business League. Both times I've eaten here, the food has been ample, very well presented, great quality, and most importantly a great taste. I had a salad on my first visit and my most recent I got the spaghetti squash spaghetti which was super yummy and very affordable ($7), completely vegan (I'm not). The noodles were perfectly cooked and somewhat fries which gave it the best tasting crunch.

We stopped in for a drink in the lounge at the Riverside Grill before going to the sandbar for dinner. It was a quiet relaxing place to talk and enjoy a drink while waiting for our table and I was grateful for the space. I also enjoyed the live music that was in the background but not too loud.

Went here for breakfast while staying at the hotel. We walked up to the welcome booth and looked at the menu for a minute before a slightly disoriented man asked us if we were together. He took our drink orders and left us without menus. Apparently they assume that everyone will get the buffet, which we ended up doing. The food is above average, the service is above average despite the bad first impression. Pricing is correspondingly slightly above average, but not by much. The final word: if you're in the area and want to avoid the IHOP rush, definitely consider this restaurant. It comes with complimentary classical music and a much quieter atmosphere. 😜

go in through the main hotel doors, from the outside it's not clear where the restaurant is located. we got the house salad, clubhouse sandwich, sorry by southwest salad, and idaho trout. it was all better than expected (the ambiance is lacking). not a place for kids or a nice night out. everything we got was good, drinks were nice, and the wait wasn't too long.

S
Steve Wiley

Enjoyed a "make your own omelette" with hash browns and toast on a Saturday late morning. There was a guitarist playing mellow tunes in the lobby, which added to the ambiance. The buffet looked awesome, with many choices from the sweet to the savory, so I didn't trust myself to indulge.

This is a hotel restaurant. I stopped by for the breakfast buffet and it was good. Just the basics. The server was attentive and did a great job considering how busy she was.

The meatloaf & pork tenderloin are both delicious! Portions are large; we could have split a meal. Fantastic service, especially in the Sapphire Room. Love that venue!

I had a miserable experience for brunch today. 12/17/23. We were a party of 11-16 in The Quite Bar room. Which was beautiful. I'm having difficulty finding positive things to say about our experience today, so I'll just go with the negatives. We had one server, who might have been a manager. Her name is Rebeca, at least that's what it said on the receipt as she never introduced herself, but she seemed to not be in a uniform as the other servers. The tables were uneven where they met together, but it was disguised under the table clothes. When I placed my full water glass down, it immediately fell over and soaked the table. It was quite obviously a large spill but Rebeca took no action until we asked for a new table cloth. She didn't answer but appeared to be walking away, so I repeated my request, and she said, "I heard you", then proceeded to get a small napkin which barely covered 1/3 of the spill, so I asked for 2 more. She asked if anyone wanted coffee several times, but never came to each person and asked what they wanted to drink. I did not want coffee, so I waited for her, but she left. I had to get her attention to request hot tea, after everyone else was served they meals. The tea carafe dribbles a lot, making more of a mess on the tablecloths. This is just a bad design. No lemon was brought, nor offered, just a sticky packet of honey. I ordered the fish and chips, but Rebeca came back to tell me that it was frozen. Okay, I said, "So, I can wait". She said "No, it was frozen". I asked, "Does that mean it's not available"? She said "Yes". How was I to know that frozen meant that I couldn't order it? So, I asked for the meatloaf sandwich, but without the bacon. She said that it wasn't possible. I said, yes, you can just remove the bacon. She had to check again with the chef, but it was indeed possible. Remember all this time others have received their meals. Why wasn't the fish 86'd at the start of service? It's not rocket science to come up with the solution to remove the bacon, but her answer to most questions was, "No". The meatloaf sandwich was barely edible. It was soaked and dripping with an overly sweet brown sauce. I had to use a knife and fork. It had one, thinnest possible slice of tomato and some wilted lettuce. When I removed the bread, it revealed that the meatloaf was burnt. I didn't complain as I had already waited so long to eat and everyone else was almost done. One person at the table got dessert, but I realized that no one else was offered. It would have been a good idea to ask the table and increase sales! We got individual bills, and mine said the Fish & Chips (which I originally ordered, but had to change to the Meatloaf) The bill was $2 higher than it should have been. I had to ask her to correct my check. By the end of the meal, most had paid, and we were ready to leave, when one person said that she still didn't get to pay as Rebeca never picked up her payment and just disappeared. I had to go to the host stand to find her and have her return. I guess that we could have walked out. I had worked as a server for over 20 years, and I truly understand that mistakes happen and people are human, but through every problem that we experienced, Rebeca never apologized. That really bugged me because it illustrated that she just didn't care at all. That was the last straw for me. If you guessed; you are correct. I. Did. Not. Tip. Update 8/11/2024 I returned with a friend for lunch and had some similar problems. First off, Jessica, our server, was very pleasant and helpful. Service was great! The problem is with the kitchen. I had ordered a salmon burger, with some capers and dill on the side, but Jessica returned to tell us that the kitchen refused to do that, even though It was after 1pm and the restaurant was quite empty. I was willing to pay an upcharge if necessary, but instead, we suffered another bad experience. Even the salmon was overcooked. And don't get me started on the number of flies inside the restaurant. I tipped Jessica 22%.

A cozy little place in the lobby of The Riverside Hotel. The slices of bacon are so thick on the burger. It could be a meal by itself. The Biose burger not much talk abou besides the bacon. Juice of the burger was running off like it was in a sauna. Frys on top had some potential, but not. I Tyr the carrot cake. It frozen cake dresses up as fresh. Good place for a quick meal, and go on your day without any flavor.

I was really excited to try this place because I had heard good things about it and had read the menu and liked most of the things that I saw. However, I was pretty disappointed with the food and overall service. After getting seated it took about 15 minutes for the waitress to ask for our drinks which may be understandable if it was very busy, but there was only one other table of people at the time. My partner and I both got old fashions and they were extremely sweet we didn’t end up drinking them. We ordered the Housemade potato chips with blue cheese sauce as an appetizer which I must say was delicious. I ordered the filet mignon with blue cheese sauce cooked medium. It came out overcooked and dry. My partner ordered the flatbread which came out fully burnt and was so hard to bite that it was basically inedible. Definitely wasn’t worth the price or the wait.

This was a Thanksgiving buffett with limited selections, and food was not kept in heated warmers so was cool upon serving. Dessert buffett had very limited selections. Food was very average and of the prepackaged and canned type of quality. Seating was in a room with lighting bright enough to suit a daytime cafeteria. Definitely not worth the $50 per person price. Positive experience was the friendly and courteous service from those waiting on tables.

Came here for Christmas dinner. I had the Prime Rib Special. Way overcooked and chewy. Fried zucchini was greasy and mostly batter. Potato salad was decent. Other in my party had the hot honey chicken sandwich with sweet waffle fries. Fries were very greasy and the sandwich was decent. This is a typical hotel restaurant. Service was lackluster. After dinner coffee was lukewarm and tastes like it had been there a while. Nothing special, not great but the only place around that was open. I wouldn’t go back.

When I arrived I was told to be seated anywhere..waitress served a beverage immediately however placing an order and getting a refill was not so immediate..had to flag down the bartender in order o place an order..I felt almost invisible as the waitress and bartender walked by me several times as they catered to larger parties...I was not asked once if I needed anything, if everything was OK or if I needed a beverage refill or desert. I had to stand up to get someone's attention in order to get my check. Nice atmosphere and the 2 man band was enjoyable..

The room we got has a carpet that is stained very badly, for the amount they charged, you would think they'd clean the carpet before letting their guests into the room. Other then the nasty looking stained carpet, the room is very nice. The people at the front desk are awesome at helping us get into our room.

M

It doesn't have too many options for food. Also, you can't know what else they can serve you. I had to ask if they have juice or bread. My first time going therr, and the last too.

We booked this brunch for Easter with our family after seeing it ranked on Google as the “best Easter brunch in Boise.” Clearly, they’re paying for good SEO—but they’re not delivering on the experience. The omelette station was the only thing that felt fresh and worth the visit. Everything else on the buffet was cold, bland, and underwhelming—especially for $28 per person. It didn’t taste freshly made, just reheated from packaged food and the quality just wasn’t there. While there were food labels, gluten-free options were minimal. For a place promoting itself as a top brunch destination, the lack of variety and attention to dietary needs was disappointing. Staff seemed overwhelmed and had a hard time finding utensils and remembering drink orders. Definitely not worth the price or the hype. Boise has much better brunch options—this one just happens to show up at the top of Google. Don’t be fooled.

The Thanksgiving buffet here was the equivalent of a hotel continental breakfast, except it was $50 a plate, what a ripoff, I definitely won't be back.

Worst dining experience ever. My dinner companion and I ordered our food at the same time. Thirty minutes later his meal came out, they dropped his plate off and scurried away. A good server would acknowledge that there were two of you and check with the kitchen on the other order. Thirty minutes later the waitress finally appeared again and I had to explain to her that my order never showed up. She explained she forgot to put in the order, but would do so right away. It took another 30 minutes for my food to come out and my companion was done with their meal by this time. So, not only was I eating alone after waiting an hour and a half, but the food was awful. We had the trout which was dried out, and the meatloaf which was also dry and flavorless. Both came with steamed broccoli, who does that anymore? Its not the 1970s Boise. Meatloaf should be a combination of beef, veal, and pork with herbs and seasonings, what came out instead was beef, breadcrumbs, and zero flavor. I should have known better because this same hotel has the Sandbar restaurant and their food is inedible.

We were staying at the hotel for a marriage retreat and decided to go get dinner before the first seminar. We were told we'd have to wait 15 minutes. So we stood for 30 minutes,a couple of feet from the host. Finally I went and asked how much longer. The host told me they already called my name. When? Where? She said to wait another 10 minutes. We finally were seated and proceeded to wait another 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order. At this point we were extremely pressed for time so my wife gave her drink order as well as her dinner order. The waitress walked away without taking mine. After another 15 minutes I was able to flag the waitress and get my order in. She apologized and let us know we would receive a complimentary cake. We graciously accepted and 5 minutes later had our food and drinks. The food was par. We asked for our check and had to wait an additional 10 minutes for it to come. I handed our waitress my card and yet another 15 minutes later she came back to say thank you for coming. She still had our bill book with our credit card! I had to ask for my card back. Also we never received our complimentary dessert. Bad experience. No thanks.

Looks beautiful, clean and nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed the live music, but the food and service was very disappointing. Ordered buger medium and came out well done and burnt about 45 minutes after ordering. Only one server for the whole restaurant showed how mismanaged this restaurant was. Not to mention over priced.

This rating is for the flourless chocolate torte. I had to use a knife to cut a piece. Pretty flavorless. The ice cream had a “greasy” after-feel. But the wait staff is always friendly from what I can tell!

The ambiance of the hotel was beautiful and a great atmosphere. The Easter Brunch was absolutely horrible. Thus brunch was nothing more than a glorified continental breakfast. This was nowhere worth $40 a plate!I will never eat a brunch there again. It was a big let down..

Brunch Buffet on Sunday ends at 11am as it does every week. Everywhere else I have ever beens Brunch Buffet ends at 2pm. People go to Sunday Brunch after church, mine doesn’t even start until 10:45. Trip advisor mentions nothing about this. We even made a reservation for an empty restaurant and the staff didn’t mention it.

K
Kimberly K.

The worst customer service ever. We went there for a conference and you should expect to be busy during a conference and they had no staff, not to mention the waitress was absolutely rude. She got all of our orders wrong and never brought out 2 of them and then when we asked about them, she comes back with an attitude, "Well what's the problem?" Mind blowing people still expect a tip after treating people like that and their food was completely overpriced. I asked how much fries were and she said, "$2" and charged me $8!??? Worst customer service ever. I'll never eat there again.

T
T'Nesha Cleveland

Clean, nice setting. Horrible for dinner. Took 45 mins to get 4 burgers and none of our orders were correct, then took another 45 mins to get that food. And still charged full price no apologies nothing then to split our check took 30 mins then to pay took another 25 to get our cards back. Couldn't even get a soda refill to the point someone in my party walked behind kitchen to get a water pitcher to refill those! Never again. Does have live music.

Tourist bike trap. This place has great ambiance (on the river and live music), and excellent service. The food however is the worst I've had in Boise in recent memory. And we eat out all the time. We had spring rolls (2 rolls, $10) and the chicken inside was mouth numbingly dry and tasted bitter, like it had been in the fridge a week. I had brisket ($15 w fries) and it was incredibly dry but also just chewy enough to make it hard to eat. It also tasted like it had been in the walk-in cooler for a week or more. We did not complain (the last thing we wanted was to wait another 30 minutes for something else from the same kitchen). Anyway...I like the place. Liked the service. Did NOT like the food. If we happen to come back, we will avoid the food menu with a ten foot pole!

I made a reservation for 20 more than a month in advance through open table. It was for a retirement celebration which I included in the reservation. When we arrived our tables weren't ready and rather than a restaurant experience we were anticipating, it was a buffet with the hotel guest. When I brought up my frustration with the host, her response was I should have booked direct with the restaurant. Perhaps, but the flip side of that argument is why was I able to book a reservation for 20, under a restaurant not a buffet, and not have you call and confirm? If your preference for a party of this size is for us to call, that can be set up in the app. Just a disappointing experience, would not recommend. I will say the wait staff was great.

I made reservations for a Thanksgiving meal for the first time ever. I looked at their menu ahead of making reservations & was interested in the prime rib. When I ordered it, I specified medium rare & the waitress replied it was cooked to medium - which isn't unusual, I'd prefer it more to the rare side, but okay. Literally, what was served was an overcooked / well done prime rib. It looked like, well, something very objectionable. It took quite a while to get a replacement meal, while my dining partner waited patiently, and that meal just sucked - which was an improvement over the previous plate, sadly.

I almost never leave a bad review but on this occasion, I feel compelled to do so. My wife and I went to the Riverside Grill for the breakfast buffet and I have to say it was terrible! We were were charged $38 for two people and it was almost inedible. The potatoes were hard, the sausage links were not cooked enough, the bacon was chewy. I don't mind paying for a good meal but this was way over priced for a really bad meal.
