We had a fantastic lunch today! Great service and the sushi 🍣 was generous and delicious. Tempura seafood really good and finished with cheesecake moshi. Would recommend you visit this lovely restaurant.

Lovely food but this is a small place and there was a party of ten in which meant we couldn't have a conversation as they were so loud. The ambience was spoilt but we will go again but check if there is a large party in before we book!

Delicious food and great service. I had the tofu ramen and some sushi, both were amazing. A little bit pricey, but worth it.

We had an excellent meal at Kamakura! Fresh sashimi, amazing rolls, great miso and delicious mochi. The restaurant is clean and the staff was professional and kind! Will go back.

This place helps me to heal my homesick. I was craving for authentic Asian food. I ordered pork dumpling, fried rice and karaage chicken. All taste like home. The dumpling skin so silky and the pork so flavourful. Definitely recommended. Unfortunately it comes a high price too.

Food was fantastic, staff were polite and quick to see to our every need. Myself and my fiancé had goyzas (pork & the vegetable) dragon rolls, yakitori chicken, chicken ramen and matcha ice cream to finish to share between us so we tasted as much as we could manage I recommend the Kirin Ichiban lager to wash it down with Our 3rd time in Gibraltar we wish we’d came sooner and will be sure to visit again on our next visit

The food is very good. The price is as expected of a pure Japanese cuisine in Gibraltar. But compared to the drive to similar restaurants in Spain it is quite affordable. Sushi is very well made! The quality of the fish meat is very good! It is freshly hand made meaning try ordering other things while you wait for it. Sashimi is very very good. Both my partner and I said it was the best we’ve had since our visit to Japan. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Tempura is well made. Crisp is perfect and the prawn to perfection. Staff working here are very friendly. Especially the lovely Australian gentleman, also the head chef/owner. 5/5 definitely recommend. I will be going again to try the tapenyaki which according to my colleague is very very good.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We held our Tai Chi Chen style Gibraltar Christmas party at Kamakura Restaurant, and it was the best Christmas party I have ever experienced. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The atmosphere, the music, the organisation, and above all the service were outstanding. A huge thank you to Yoko and her entire team. The chefs, the bartenders, the waiters, and everyone involved were professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The level of care and efficiency throughout the evening made everything flow effortlessly. The food was absolutely remarkable. Fresh, beautifully prepared sushi, along with an impressive variety of dishes showcasing top level cuisine. This is the kind of food you simply do not find elsewhere. Every plate reflected quality, skill, and consistency, making it an outstanding choice for a Christmas party. Thank you to everyone at Kamakura for creating such a memorable night for our Tai Chi community. An exceptional experience in every sense. Highly recommended.

All the food tasted delicious. Great service by all. Good portion sizes. Vast menu to suit all dietary requirements. Inexpensive Japanese bottled beer's. Left feeling fully satisfied. Loved the little teapots filled with Soy sauce. Beautifully presented. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely Incredible! My favourite place to go to.. From the very first bite, you know you’re in for something special. Every dish is packed with flavour, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of thought and love goes into the food here.. it’s more than a meal, it’s an experience. We do our Christmas do here every year at the teppanyaki table. Always a success, highly recommended for the experience. All staff very nice. A++

We love this place! Brings back wonderful memories of the time we spent in Japan. We haven’t tried anything on the menu we haven’t liked yet. The scallop sashimi (pictured below) is to die for. The tuna crunch roll is also absolutely delicious. So is the gyoza (which comes with a terrific sesame sauce). One of the few places (or possibly even the only one) around here you can get a Sapporo beer! The staff is also really welcoming, super attentive and very nice, especially Oliver! Definitely recommend!

First time visiting Gibraltar. Me and my husband desided to come in Kamakura for dinner, had an amazing time. We've been there 3 times after that. The food was great, service is amazing, always with the smile, and good recommendations like one of their strawberry Japanese liquor. Great food. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We called in just for a quick bite, the food was lovely Only downside for me was it felt a bit café like rather than restaurant which was OK for why we called in but not sure if I'd go for a night out. The takeaway food looked fantastic, we could see it being bagged up from where we were sitting 😊

If you really want to eat ramen, please visit Kamakura in Gibraltar. When I order ramen, the staff mentioned their ramen is not natural and it is instant noodle. I disappointed a little bit, but I already had a bad experience in another restaurant. And that sounds make me more confident which the kamakura is honest.(I am not sure whether they consider another review which mentioned about instant noodle or not. But anyway, it make me more trust.) The chicken topping is nice but the taste of soup of noodle is not as good as I expected. But overally, I satisfied because I eager to eat ramen now.

Cute little Japanese restaurant. The actual selection is sometimes smaller than what is offered in the menu. But the selection is good, the quality fine and the price normal Gibraltar. They have tables outside, as well. A bit unfortunate that it is directly next to a busy roundabout.

Food was nice, and staff was attentive. Really enjoyed the gyozas, tuna tartare and tempura prawns. Sushi was okay, definitely one of the best you can get in Gibraltar. Recommend the chicken karaage!

Went to Kamakura with a friend of mine on Friday 13th of October, as our last dinner in Gibraltar before flying home the next day, and I wanted to write this review to say how fantastic the service was, even if it was a super busy evening. We where lucky enough to get a table outside, as we where told that was the only seating available probably due to being a booked out night (would recommend you book, just encase as dinner service opens at 7:00pm-11:00pm). The food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing! There was a wait for our food, but I wanted to give a huge shout-out to our server, Carlos, who handled the floor very well. He was always being smiley and professional, and even took off some of our drinks as a way too say sorry for the wait, which was super nice of him too do. Overall, if you want a great Japanese dining experience, and you are in Gibraltar, please visit this restaurant, just make sure to book to avoid disappointment. Thank you again too Carlos, you made our evening. :)

Sushi was very very good. However beef ramen was standard for £28. Wasnt bad, just wasnt great.

If you want to come here for lunch- better choose different place! For sushi roll order you must wait at least hour!!!! Food is not worth the price. Portions are small for expensive price.

Expensive for what you get

A bit of high expectations before I visited this restaurant yesterday but as result, a bit of disappointment. I ordered Chicken Kimchi Ramen but came out as Noodles (instant or not instant noodles……, no comments), if I knew it before placing the order then I might try something else 😅. Anyway just the ‘noodles’ issue, other tasted fine.👍🏻

Came with high hopes but left a little disappointed. Sushi was average. Not bad, but not amazing - the roe on top of the rolls had 0 taste, and were hard. Lacked that wow factor. Pink gin and tonic was delicious. Shot of shōchu (on the house) at the end was unexpected but nice. Service was good.

Average and pricey. Average Japanese food, served in an average setting, with average atmosphere for absurdly high prices given the quality. Expected more, received less. Better options elsewhere.

I love Japanese but unfortunately Kamakura take away food was disappointing experience: 1-rice was too soft ((( 2-all pieces of rolls were different size ((( 3-some if them had not much inside ((( 4-they put all 5 rolls in 1 big box so couldn’t figure out where is what I will not order again (

Worst ever. Diarrhea, vomiting and fever for the whole night after having their salmon rolls. I'm from an island near Japan and we eat lots of raw seafood there. Never had any issues. When I had sashimi from a Japanese restaurant in London, there were never any issues either. This place gives me food poisoning which has never happened to me before. I've been having a lot of medicine and no sleep and it also ruined my plan. The ramen in chicken ramen is also instant noodles, it is not ramen at all. Maybe they think Western people can't tell. The cutlery and pans are cute and Japanese, but the food is fake.

Worst experience. Will never come again. Super long waiting time for no reason… waited for almost a hour for the food to come with not much people in the restaurant. The food is also not good at all.

This sushi restaurant uses instant noodles！I can buy this kind of instant noodles in any express shop for less than a pound, but I never thought that they sold price would be 17 pounds. They charged me for 4 bottles of drinks that I didn't even drink. 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 여기서 6월 21일날 저녁먹었고, 이곳에서 일하는 직원인지 사장인지 모르겠지만 매니저로 보이는 사람(자신이 필리핀 사람이라했었음)이 우리 주문과 서빙, 계산을 담당했고 처음부터 끝까지 친절하게 응대받음. 계산서를 받았지만 당연히 알아서 맞게 계산했겠지 믿고 결제후 혹시나 싶어 세부내역을 확인했는데 우리가 마시지도 않은 스파클링워터가 청구되어있었음. 얘기하니 취소해주겠다길래 이때까지는 좀 이상하긴했지만 실수였을거라 생각하고 선의로 그냥 스파클링워터를 가져갈테니 달라고 함. 그러고 나갔는데 한 1분 걷다가 혹시나싶어 다시 전체항목을 살펴보니 마시지도 않은 아사히맥주가 3병이나 더 청구되어있었음. 처음에 기린맥주2병을 시켰고 후에 맥주1병을 더 시켰는데, 영수증에는 기린맥주2병과 아사히맥주3병으로 되어있네..?? 여기서 얘네들 이런식으로 혹시 돈빼돌리고있나 의심이 들었음. 돌아가서 따지니 그 직원도 이미 알고있길래 너 알고있었냐 물었더니 우리가 나간 후에 자기가 더블체크했는데 너네가 이미 떠나서 연락할 방법이 없었다고 말함. 솔직히 내가 직원이었고 진짜 실수였다면 미안해서라도 우리가 나간 방향으로 뛰어가서 찾으려고 했을 것임. 어쨌든 고의라 생각되고 화났지만 여행중에 기분망치기 싫었고 그 직원도 애초에 잘못 청구되었던 아사히맥주 3병이랑 스파클링2병 취소해주겠다고 해서 그냥 참음. 그런데 시간이 지나도 취소문자가 안 와서 계좌에 결제확정금액 뜰때까지 울단 기다려봄. 그리고 오늘 확인하니 처음 잘못 결제된 영수증금액(총 119.15파운드)으로 고스란히 청구되었고 매장에서 카드단말기로 부분취소한 14.5파운드는 취소내역자체가 아예없음...... 이런 수법으로 얘네들이 관광객한테 여러번 사기쳤을거라는 강한 의심이 들고, 당한 입장에서 매우 불쾌하고 괘씸함. 너희가 지브롤터에 대한 모든 기억을 망침

Changing my review on Kamakura as I saw they were available for delivery during lockdown. After saying food was a 1 hour wait, it got to 2 hours of waiting and after calling 3 times and was assured it had already left, 30 minutes later, bearing in mind this has now taken almost 3 hours, the things that were meant to be hot were stone cold. After asking for a refund and send it back with the driver they hid behind or more blamed the delivery company and the refund was up to them. I smell something fishy about that. Happy to change my review if you honour the refund, I'm also happy to reorder rather than a refund. Basically a waste of time and money for the most part.
