Avis sur Storiebook Cafe Glen Rose
Such a cute, welcoming place! We loved eating surrounded by books, and the not-so-secret "secret menu" was absolutely delicious.
A little pricey, but a beautiful place with a unique theme. Great place for kids and adults alike. They have a play/story area for kids along with an incredible collection of decorations and clever food options all tied to their theme. Overall a fun experience, can't wait to come back.
Food was really good, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. One of my kids read books the whole time we were there while I reminisced over a chair that matched one my great grandfather had. I look forward to returning.
The cutest little book cafe, great for kids and adults. This would be a great spot for bookclub or playdates.
I'm on the road quite a bit. The saying is try. Ask the locals and they will recommend the best places. Did was excellent. Service was beyond great. Had the best BLT and sweet tea. It will be my lunch spot when I do in Glen Rose.
Excellent Triple Decker Sandwich, Chicken salad. Good blackberry cobbler. Enjoyable environment-lots of books. Great attitude by the owner! A must. 22 years in business.
Enjoyed the unique atmosphere here. Great sandwiches and wraps, with gluten free options! Brownie dessert wasn't the best but im sure their cobblers are to die for.
The Reuben sandwich is always a great choice! Enjoyed playing trivia while we waited for a food. My daughter said this place always feels homey!
Great food and atmosphere. Service can be a little slow but overall they are great.
Always awesome! Get the ultimate grilled cheese on sourdough.. So good! Excellent soup and side pastas daily as well. Unique, memorable, and delish!
Sweet and cozy little cafe filled with teapots and books. There is a play area for children. Food comes out fast. Just visiting in town for a work trip and thus seemed like a great brunch/lunch spot, and it was!
Such a sweet mom and pop cafe with that small charm town that shows the kindness of the people in glen rose, and has the best pickles ever! Had to buy a jar myself!
My grandma lives in Glen Rose, has my whole life, and every time I go down there, as of recently, I want to go to Storybook Cafe. It has some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of eating, and the staff is so friendly. The aesthetic in the place is the coziest, most welcoming thing in the world. I love it, and definitely recommend.
This is an amazing place in the heart of Glen Rose. They have a dining area with toys and books for kids. The sandwiches are amazing. Freshly made with top notch meats, veg, and other accoutrements. Also very nice deserts.
We stopped in after visiting Fossil Rim. This is an adorable place. The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. There’s a room with toys for kids to play, making it a great stop for families. The food is fresh and tasty. My family from out of town got a little taste of southern hospitality here, a rare thing in the metroplex. So glad we stopped in.
Plenty to see and do here, especially if you love books and games. Each table has a few games to play to pass the time, and all the used books along every wall are for sale. Reasonably priced homemade sandwiches were tasty. It's a surprisingly large place, with lots of kid-friendly activities.
Super great place to go with your S/O. Very cute, quaint, and they have delicious food. There are plenty of books, lots of tabletop games, and decks of cards. This cafe is a wonderful relaxing way to lose a few hours in the afternoon. This is a great place to stop by any time you're in the area.
Sweet cafe and bookstore. Great atmosphere, service and food. I had a chicken salad on croissant with a house salad and my friend enjoyed the Reuben sandwich. I've heard the tomato basil soup is wonderful also. Great place to meet a friend for lunch.
I've eaten there many times over many years, mist recently just awhile ago today,1-9-23, and every meal has been a spot -on delight, with everyone there being professional and kind and the unique setting it makes a beautiful spot for fun seekers or romantic dining either one, while being as affordable as a humble cafe. I give it 7 out of 5 stars, .really. R.L.G.
Storiebook Cafe was the best little stop! We were checking out the food scene in town and it looked cute so we dropped in. The food was amazing (I had a Reuben and coconut creme pie) and we loved the cozy family atmosphere! Our food was quick and hot, and our server was a ton of fun, kept our tea coming. We'll definitely be back!
Pricing was unbelievably good this food and coffee are awesome and the atmosphere is even better if you come to Glen Rose or drive-thru Glen Rose you need to eat at this restaurant I believe it closes at 3:00
Love, Love, LOVE this place! How many good things about Storiebook? There isn't a number high enough to answer this! Books. The food is always amazing and so good for you. I never feel guilty for eating here. The children's pretend room is wonderful, and the teapot collection is a must see.
Fun little cafe and bookstore in Glen Rose! Definitely a unique vibe especially for a small town. It's always busy when I go, and I've been impressed with the variety of their menu, as well as the care they put into each item. My favorite is the peach tea! Great for breakfast too, and I imagine a fun little place to read or work on homework.
Unique cozy setting with an actual small working bookstore (although I’ve never seen anyone actually purchase a book). Simple homemade offerings of soups (limited), salads, and sandwiches (most of the common ones). All freshly made and high quality. Never been disappointed. Always stop there on our annual Austin trip.
I went to this little shop while on vacation with my family when I was a child. We loved it so much, we went every day during our vacation. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is comfortable. It is a great place to go, and the owner, Storie, is wonderful and sweet. She took the time to talk to us and show us around. I highly recommend this place as both a bookstore and cafe. I hope to take my children there one day.
Great food and great atmosphere! I had the triple decker turkey club, huge! Wife had the chicken salad sandwich, quite tasty! The boys loved the kids grilled cheese with apples and caramel!
This place was a fantastic place for lunch. After being in the car for awhile this spot was perfect. The kids could play, and the sandwiches were delicious. We felt at home with the hospitality and service too!
Love this place, and I love all the ladies who work there and make that place an awesome overall visit.if u have never been ,it's a must.ubwont b disappointed.great people, good food, and awesome atmosphere.♥️
What a delightful experience this place provides! I stumbled upon this restaurant for brunch and I intend to come back frequently. It's a brilliant ambiance of books, funny, dramatic analogies in the art, and the food is fantastic. Enjoy the ”pawpaw pickles” as well. You won't find that anywhere else.
A really nice place for a unique setting. Your in a library of books on the walls available to read or purchase. The tables have games you can play while waiting for your meal. If you like reading, you'll love this place. Oh I almost forgot the sandwiches and soups are excellent. Waitresses are very fun and kind as well. 5 star at a 3 star price !.
Fresh sandwiches and friendly service. One of our favorite places to go when visiting Glenn Rose.
Super cute little cafe. DELICIOUS food. Ate there while on a road trip with my mother & aunt this past weekend, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and our experience there. I had a grilled cheese with avocado & bacon and a side of BLT pasta - absolutely delicious. Waitress was attentive. Bathroom was clean. Prices were great. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Tomato Soup is great! Sourdough bread selection for sandwiches!!
We love Storiebook Cafe. The employees are nice, the atmosphere relaxing, and the food is tasty. Most recently I tried the Tortellini soup and chicken salad sandwich, which were both delicious. I also regularly enjoy the Greek chicken salad, which is huge! The peach tea is also a favorite.
Second visit, every bit as good as the first. Relaxed peaceful environment for enjoying conversations with friends and family over delicious soups and sandwiches. Can’t wait until my next trip to Glen Rose.
Fantastic experience. The food was very yummy and obviously made with care (the crunch on my chicken salad croissant sandwich was so good! And the broccoli and cheese soup is some of the best I’ve had!) It was our first time and we were treated like regulars and were not rushed at all! Even when it got near closing we were encouraged to sit and enjoy our dessert there if we’d like. Let me tell you, enjoy that dessert we did! I had to try the classic- buttermilk pie (chef’s kiss! So delicate and sweet!) and my husband had the chocolate pecan cobbler with ice cream. Completely decadent! Our one-year-old also highly approved of her grilled cheese and fresh fruit! 10/10 experience! Cannot wait to make this a weekly lunch stop for us.
Bring your children so they can play while the adults relax and visit. The servers are always friendly and helpful, while the food is excellent.
Adorable diner tucked into a bookstore. We enjoyed a delicious lunch with our family here and everyone loved their meal. They have a cute little play area for children. The place had so much personality and good vibes. I loved our waitress as well; she was just as charming and friendly. We will absolutely be back again next time we are in Glen Rose. 10/10
Good food and fun, unique place. Especially fun for kids.
My Ruben sandwich was divine! I can't wait to go back and try another type of sandwich. Sammy was the best waiter! He was funny and very attentive. He took amazing care of us! I loved that there was a play area for my kids! They said it deserves a 5 star rating just for that! My kids also loved playing the Pac-Man game. The clean freak in me just wants to go back with a duster and bleach, and give the whole place a good scrub! The place just really needs a good cleaning! The hanging art was so dusty and the whole place was very dirty. Our table was sticky. And the books they do have, are not being well cared for. Almost an afterthought. Which as a book lover is very disappointing. However the food, specifically the sandwiches are definitely worth restraining my OCD tendencies. I'm sure the kitchen itself is cleaner than the rest of the place. My husband says the bathrooms were very clean, which is the most important place to have clean in my opinion. We will be returning!
My family and I have been coming to the Storiebook Cafe for years. You can look through our vacation photos and see my kids growing up there. After all this time, it's still the place they always want to come to when we visit Glen Rose. Why? Well. Part of it is the place itself. Each room is a seek-and-find filled with awesome books you can look at, homey furniture, toys, knick-knacks, and more. Everywhere you look is fun and whimsical. Another portion of the draw is the staff. Everyone we've met there over the years is very pleasant and good at their jobs. Finally, the food is awesome. My kids are very picky. I have three and each has particular likes and dislikes. We can never agree on meals, and yet here, they all can find something they enjoy and so can I. The food's fresh, the drinks are great. We plan to go back again this summer while we're in town. Just like always. Fair warning: Parking is extremely limited. It gets real bad close to mealtimes. As small as Glen Rose is, you would be better off just walking if you're staying nearby.
This was a great place to grab lunch at. The service was good and quick for a Saturday at lunch time. The food was delicious and the sandwiches were large.
Delicious food and great atmosphere, even has a play section for kids. Food is simple but utterly delicious. Sinfully great desserts, especially that coconut cream pie. Had a roast beef and cheddar on pretzel bread, so very good, and tasty authentic kettle chips. Also excellent sweet tea and homemade pickles. Must visit in Glen Rose!
Such a fun little place to have lunch. The sandwiches are decent, but we all rave about the buttermilk pie. The children love playing while we wait. There's a lot to see inside this cute little cafe.
Wonderful place! Staff is incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Food was delicious and our little girl thoroughly enjoyed the play area. If you’re in Glen Rose, you should stop in here.
What a little gem! Our options are very limited when we travel because my 8 year old daughter and I have celiac disease. We were able to order gluten-free sandwiches that were delicious!! I had a reuben and my daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich. The staff was cautious about cross-contamination and we did not get sick. So thankful for this place!
For a Thursday at noon they were extremely busy, but our server still gave us the best service. The food was good, and I absolutely loved how they had a play area with toys for the kiddos. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
Loved it! Great little place. Good food, friendly people!
Lovely experience, very welcoming, great fresh sandwiches and salads. Great price for amount of food.
We loved this place. The Ruben was excellent and so was the chicken salad and the parmesan pasta salad. They gave us two slices of their house pickles which usually don't like but they're sweet and spicy like Famous Dave's so I love them. The room with all of the books has such a good vibe and I love the tea pot collection but that room feels like it's more for families with all the toys scattered around. If we come back to Glen Rose we're coming back here. It was $20 for 2 sandwiches with sides which was cheaper than we were expecting.
Whatta cozy cafe! One of the best we’ve been to and such friendly staff! Great for kids and adults alike! Selection of books and toys! We tried the veggie wrap and kids grilled cheese sandwich. The veg wrap was amazing! The grilled cheese was too small and was not sufficient for our 4 year old! Would highly recommend !
I love this place! It's a bookstore and cafe. The owner is so kind and hardworking, and the atmosphere is full of fun, energy, and lots of books! Oh, and delicious food & drinks.
Gluten free bread was great! The pickles they used on the sandwich were top tier! The place was eye candy for my book loving soul! The ladies who helped us were so very sweet!
Stopped in after a HOT day of hiking and these sandwiches hit the spot! They have gf bread and wraps available. We had the chicken salad sandwich and the triple decker club. Both tasted wonderful and were lightly toasted. It came with chips and sweet pickles. The inside is very cute like something out of a literal storybook. Incredibly kid friendly with tons of toys and kids' books. Including the outside area, there is an abundance of seating options, and the staff was super friendly. We would go back in a heartbeat. Wish we had a place like this by us!
Absolutely legit! Marvelous environment. Fantastic service and food. I had the Ruben Sandwich with Tomato Basil soup… delicious!! My wife had the Greek Chicken Wrap along with soup which she loved as well. Our 3 kiddos had a blast… tons of books to read, tons of games and toys. Highlight was the carousel and spring-horses out front which my 3 kiddos road off into the sunset!! Tons of fun!
A truly unique cafe in a truly unique small town. Your stomach grumbles with hunger pangs as you step through the door and you become momentarily confused as to whether this is a cafe or a bookstore. But then you notice the delicious looking sandwiches and wraps that folks are eating and you realize you’re in the right place. The fact that they have hundreds of new and used books for sale is a plus. Grab a seat and enjoy the calm, cool, atmosphere as you browse their simple, yet thorough, menu and get ready to chase those tummy grumbles away. GET OUTTA THE HOT SUN AND GET IN HERE NOW! Order the club sandwich on sourdough and some iced tea. You won’t leave disappointed or hungry. Save room for dessert, you’ve earned it.
Such a quaint place. Full of atmosphere from the bookcases, to mis matched tables and chairs, so many fun things to take in. I ordered the club sandwich which was perfect and served with some amazing pickles…dill, but also sweet and spicy. Staff was friendly and service was fast. I’ll be back when I visit Glen Rose.
Very cool cafe in Glen Rose. Staff friendly and inviting, and food tasty. I had grilled cheese and bacon on sourdough (yum) wife had grilled ham and cheese on crescent roll that she enjoyed. We had our lunch in the children's room since we had our grandson with us. We played a few games and enjoyed our time here. I definitely recommend this cafe!
This restaurant is fantastic for family meals! The kids can play dress up while they wait for their food and then they get dinosaur shaped sandwiches with great options like apples with caramel dipping or carrots with ranch. The food is wonderful as well. This was my second visit and I thoroughly enjoyed the wrap! The setting is cozy and warm, the staff is pleasant and helpful and the prices are more than fair. Highly recommend!
We drove dkwn here today to meet with my frie d's brother/sil for lunch. It was easy to get to, straight down Hwy 67 out of Miothian, Tx just a bit over an hour's drive.. The menu had good choices. Prices were reasonable. The food tasted very good. My husband raved about the Deli Ruben sandwich. Said it was as good or better than a good New York Deli. My friend and I shar3d a Turkey an, chees, and avicado wrap which was quite good (although a bit more turkey would have been nice). Basically the cafe is inside a used book store. That was cute. I even purchased a few books. The restrooms were clean. The food was good. The service was great and friendly. The only negative is there is only 3 parking spaces out front - luckily we got one. If you're headed down Hwy 67 towards Glen Rose, its a nice place to stop for lunch or a Cappuccino.
Glen Rose is a great town to visit with kids and Storiebook Cafe should be on your list for a lunch stop. Tons of toys and games and costumes are scattered throughout the playroom and the food is good. My boys had great fun playing dominoes while they ate their dinosaur-shaped sandwiches.
The reuben was excellent, and kids enjoyed their dinosaur shaped sandwiches. This business is practicing reasonable social distancing and we felt good about eating there after visiting Big Rock Park.
Artisenal sandwich shop in a quaint, small-town bookstore setting. Atmosphere is homey, wait staff friendly and ready to converse, and tbe books lining the shelves are there for purchase as well as ambiance. Only drawback might be the chance of dining in close proximity to a loud group of customers who do not realize they are also in a simi library like environment.
Food was delicious. Prices were affordable and proportionate. Atmosphere is so eclectic and unique. Could use a good cleaning though. Jusr looked a bit dingy to me. For that reason I gave it 4 stars.
Overall a great little spot to get soup and sandwiches. Had the Reuben with chicken and dumpling soup it was really good, and their house made pickles were amazing. Everything was priced good as well. The staff was very nice but they seemed a little frazzled about who was seated where, which servers had which tables, and we had to ask to get menus. They were busy so could have been cause of that either way I'd give them a solid 4/5 overall.
Cobbler and coffee were very tasty and the staff was wonderful. But for those looking for an establishment that’s a little more bookshop than cafe this isn’t it. It’s a darling cafe with a yummy looking menu (we only had cobbler and coffee) and the walls are lined with floor to ceiling books.
The inside is enchantingly interesting, and there's some really great spaces for kids. Unfortunately I think we hit them on a bad day. They seemed under staffed and we ended up waiting an hour before ordering. We all ordered sandwiches and soup. It took another 45 minutes to get the food. All-in-all I probably wouldn't risk going back unless we were prepared to wait.
I liked the book selection more than the food. There were really well considered sci fi novels and the atmosphere was charming. The lunch menu was pretty standard soups and sandwiches.
Neat little place, and people were friendly. However the food was subpar. Grilled cheese special was literally one piece of what looked like kraft single. Chips are regular storebought chips. Ordered apple slices for my daughter, was charged for the entire child meal. Service was slow. Would not recommend.
Loved the atmosphere and decor! The food was okay. Unfortunately, I found hair in my food. Service was subpar. My sister and I really tried to overlook certain details but it was not the best experience.
Do not eat at this restaurant if you are from out of town. The waitress is extremely rude! She did not wait on us. Got mad at my niece for getting crackers and was mad that we did not finish our waters. She literally made a comment about us not finishing our waters. I will NEVER frequent this restaurant again! If I could give it 0 stars I would.
Took my mom out to lunch today we decided to try this place because it looked so cute. We arrived at 11:27 and were told we could sit anywhere we wanted. Apparently we chose the wrong table because we were literally ignored for the first 15 minutes until I finally flagged down a waitress and we got menus. Another waitress came by and took our drink order. Then we waited another 15 minutes for her to come back and take our order. I watched several tables that came in after us order, get their food and leave while we waited. After 45+ minutes the waitress came by and told us it was going to be just a little longer because there were several big orders that were in before ours. Those tables came in after us and if we hadn’t been ignored for so long before they took our order we would’ve had our food and been gone. We decided to leave so I don’t know if the food is any good or not. The ice tea is good. But not good enough for me to come back.
