We needed a place to get supper on our last night in Scotland. This was nearby where we were so we tried it out. The locals eat here and they have tasty Scottish food.
great for sunday dinner and very good price didnt book a table but was seated fast didnt wait long for food and staff very happy and friendly great atmosphere
Fresh and delicious food. The wait time is there but the service is great. The is across The grange manor hotel. Nice space from a seating arrangement perspective. A decent parking space for people to park their vehicles. A very decent vegetarian options are available..which impressed me the most.
We found Cook's on a visit to the Kelpies - what a find! We were in time for their weekday lunch time menu, extremely good value for excellent quality food. The haggis starter is to die for! Good size portions too. The waitress was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. Dogs are allowed too, our Red Setter was welcomed. I'd definitely come back here if ever in the area, it's well deserving of 5 stars.
When staying at Grange Manor for a few nights.... I ate here in the evenings. A wide choice of dishes on the menu.... The Sunday roast was lovely. The service was excellent.... Friendly and welcoming. And for me... Of great importance..... Dog friendly. Made Molly welcome... Thank you.
While looking for somewhere to eat near the Kelpies we found Cooks on Google maps, after checking the reviews we booked a table (and also booked to stay in the linked hotel next door). The restaurant was about half full when we arrived and we were quickly seated. We ordered our drinks and food smoothly, and slight menu tweaks were accommodated with no issues (such as adding chicken to the roasted veg risotto). All the food was delicious, and service was timely but not rushed. The prices were very reasonable, including the bar/drinks prices. If we were in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to rebook.
Cosy place, very nice staff and delicious food. The tortellini were so good with a very generous portion, the BBQ burguer was juicy and the sweet potato fries crunchy. Even that we were so full after the truffle & parmesan fries and the mains, we ordered a sticky toffee pudding and... oh my god! So tasty and the vainilla ice cream fits perfect. For drinks, we ordered a Bulmer's cider and a Watermelon daiquiri and we just pay for the whole dinner £36. Very convenient!
We both had 3 courses and each course was delicious. The portions were great .The staff were very efficient and friendly and were very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks . We’ll definitely be back .
Can't rate this place enough had Sunday dinner one of the best I've ever tasted and there custard and cake wow and was served by a lady called Anna a lovely lady this place is also very reasonable especially for the quality of the food it's just great
During our weekend stay at The Grange Manor Hotel, we dined at Cook’s Bar & Kitchen for two consecutive evenings and were thoroughly impressed. Accommodating our dog, the staff seated us in a spacious area and promptly provided a water bowl, showcasing their warm hospitality. The service was efficient and attentive, with minimal waiting times. The food was exceptional, particularly the starters. We sampled both the main menu and the Sunday roast, both of which we highly recommend. The Sunday menu offered a great value fixed-price selection. The entire experience was delightful, leaving us eager to return.
Lovely place, great food and nice staff. Very reasonable prices too. Recommended.
3 course meal with drinks. Delicious starter of lentil soup, mains of sirloin steak cooked to our preferences, followed with desserts of Arran ice cream and a sundae. All delicious. Service could not be faulted. Knowledgeable, attentive staff. Lovely greeting on entering Restaurant. Hope to return soon.
Megan is awesome, extensive knowledge of products and recommendations, massive smile and warmth in her greeting so we returned. Well priced, amazing chefs with daily specials to die for
Great freshly prepared & cooked food at very reasonable prices. Nice decor and very friendly staff.
Some of the best fish I've had in a while service was great too highly recommend
Cook's Bar & Kitchen is a true gem! The lively atmosphere and friendly service create an inviting ambiance. We were thoroughly impressed by the delicious food and beautifully crafted cocktails. Whether you're planning a casual dinner or a special occasion, Cook's is a fantastic choice. We highly recommend it!"
We came here when we discovered our hotel wasn't doing food . Would definitely recommend. I had blade of beef which was very tender and delicious. My husband had Highland burger which he enjoyed. Definitely recommend.
Really polite and helpful staff Food is perfect 👌
Have been before and was there with a friend on Wed. 18th. Feb. Were met by a lovely girl 'Cat;, I think Catriona was her full name, who made us most welcome and at ease She was extremely efficient and guided us through the possible menu(s). Must say, the variety of choices was excellent and, after the Three Course Lunch Menu, we were both thankful we had enjoyed our lunch there. Would definitely recommend this as an eating place in the Falkirk Area! Extremely good quality AND at the right price! Thank You Cook's Bar & Kitchen, we WILL be back.
We had a fab meal at cooks last night. We weren't going to go because the reviews on here weren't the best. However I am so glad we ignored them and went. The food was delicious , the staff were friendly and very attentive. Will definetly be back..
Stopping at the kellpies, only 10 minutes walk from the overnight parking Excellent service and food Dog friendly to ❤️❤️
Stopped by after our visit to The Kelpies; the place was still quiet when we arrived but started getting busier around lunchtime. I had the fish and chips, which were tasty, and enjoyed a bowl of olives as an appetizer. Overall, a pleasant experience and worth a try if you’re in the area.
Came to Cooks bar for dinner for the first time. Pre booking was easy and an ample amount of parking available. Arriving I saw a rustic character building with a seasoning of modern touches. Upgraded well however the decor was not to my taste. I felt its decor was disconnected from its historic stature but very clean, warm and welcoming. The menu was vast, offering a nice selection however the steak (price per gram) did not specify where it came from but the black pudding, fish, prawn etc all specified where it came from. I didn't agree with charging extra for sauce that traditionally comes with that dish either. I ordered the fish which was delicious, but again I feel it was lacking it's value for money. Staff friendly and attentive but did need to be reminded about missing items which was strange as it was not busy. I would recommend it if you are looking for a nice meal out or a change from a pub meal.
Nice place with friendly staff. We had the steak and it was lovely, steak was cooked to perfection then we had the sticky toffee pudding and it was lovely also, was nice and moist. I will definitely be back.
Super tasty food and friendly staff! Definitely recommend
Very nice lunch had the fish and chips and the chocolate brownie for pudding definitely be back here.
Went for lunch/dinner after visiting the Kelpies. I had a starter and a main and both were excellent, and the service was also very efficient. The starters were all pretty pricey, and the mains were on the higher end of what I would have expected to pay, but given how good both were and with good portions size I do feel it was reasonable value.
Ate here for 4 nights whilst away with work. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Food was good, some dishes better than others, I had the lamb shoulder, beef burger, steak and a sea food linguine. The steak was ok but really overpriced and served on a Wetherspoons style plate, one sorry looking mushroom and tomato served up with it! The Burger was tasty if a little underdone (no issue for me but maybe check people are ok with served pink!) The lamb was amazing. Seafood linguine wasn’t to my taste. Deserts had plenty of choice but only the sticky toffee did it for me, the rest were mediocre and seemed defrosted. Again expensive for what they are. Atmosphere was ok each night, didn’t spend long in there. I wouldn’t say it’s got a lot of charisma about it though! 4/5 all in as the staff where great!
Table was booked for 6:45 pm Food was pretty good. Service left much to be desired, brought water and wine. Had to open the wine ourselves? We asked for the desert menu and was pestered 3 times within 5mins if we wanted a sweet. Staff seemed like they could not get rid of us quick enough! We had to ask for the bill twice. We would not go back.
The food is amazing but the service is sometimes really bad Waited 25 minutes on Sunday to have order taken not very busy at all. Lots of young staff just walking about we go there often for the Sunday lunch deal and find this often
Exortionate prices, very small portions for prices charged. Most items come with added extras. £12-£15 for pasta. Overpriced soft drinks. Service OK, nice surroundings but expensive for essentially pub grub. £2.95 for one very small scone with jam and cream.
The food was perfectly fine, not very inspired but I did just pick a burger so maybe my fault. Service was in 2 parts. The first waitress was smiley and present unfortunately we didn't see much of her. The second was really grumpy, forced, and mostly trying not to make eye contact. Guests were left waiting to be seated for so long, I had second hand embarrassment.
Our booking was last Friday at 4.45pm so place was very quiet, as you would expect. We all enjoyed our meals. Only disappointment was we planned on ordering from their 2 and 3 course menu as it states this is available Monday to Friday between 12pm and 5pm but the waitress said last orders for that menu is 4.30pm!! Think they need to clarify this on the menu then as misleading and unfair. Meals from this menu are presented slightly differently but same excellent quality and great value.
Venue is lovely and so warm on a cold night. Our waitress was so nice. I had fish and chips but chips were skinny fries and a little hard, wasn't expecting those chips. Had a sticky toffee pudding but had definitely been over microwaved and was tough but they gave a discount. Would I go back sorry I wouldn't im afraid.
We attended this restaurant due to staying at the hotel for a wedding. There were 13 of us booked in in advance. The service was shockingly slow (over 1 hour from ordering until we received our starters). The food we all agreed was average of taste and presentation. The staff only came to us twice during the whole 2.5 hours we were there to take drink orders. A few went up to the bar to request drinks to be met with “we will come over” which was not received. After our starters it was another 20 minutes until our main meal. They took a while to remove empty plates after finishing as well. Two of us went to find the complaints procedure to discover there was not one - we simply had to discuss this with a waitress. We acknowledged this was not directly the waitresses or chefs fault but more the lack of extras to work when it was a busy night. Sadly we were disappointed and all 13 of us will not be returning to this restaurant due to the length of time it took to serve. I asked for a resolution to this and was met with nothing so requested at least a discount off our £300+ bill which we thankfully got. Sadly would not recommend booking here if you are staying in the hotel with al large group. A real shame as it looked a lovely place.
It’s brilliant to have this new bar open and to all intense purpose a good night out .. but if they want repeat customers they will need to sort the bar out .. 8 people serving and it was a shambles 25 minutes to get served this is the second time I have been in and the organisation of staff and bar management is a joke … set the bar to three areas and have two staff in the first two and the rest in the meal section … or they will have no staff because of the stress and no customers because of the poor management
The most disgusting meal we have had in Scotland. The chicken katzu was a piece of chicken about 2 to 3 mm thick covered in about 8 mm of some sort of batter/ crumb, deep fried. There was a sauce on it they called curry, well I would never have served that to a customer!! It was served with some extremely small portion of instant rice and a cheap shop bought piece of nam bread. How they let it leave the kitchen is beyond me!!! We ate it, and paid full price which in itself makes me sick. I am really disgusted that that is what they consider a decent meal to serve to paying guests!!
Had lunch at this place, fish and onion rings were tasteless, onion rings looked like they were not cooked properly and had an explosion of grease/oil on every bite. Chips were good but that's about it, service was poor, and the time it took to actually get our meals was silly.
On walking in to the rest the impression you get is it's going to be good, and as we sat down we had high hopes, but on being seated another table had a glasses broken on it which caused the glass to scatter on to the floor, it took the staff 20 mins to even start cleaning it up, and using a floor brush to sweep up the glass from the table made us think have we made the right choice to eat here. We had our starter which was nice. And then our mains came and my husband feathered beef was full off grissel and didn't look very appealing and my own nachos were very bland and I have had better ones made at home. I definitely would not return or recommend this place. When my husband spoke to the server's he was accused of being rude when he pointed out how unhygienic the cleaning up was and they weren't very happy about the comments or feed back. Will definitely avoid in future.
