Avis sur Torchy's Tacos Helotes
Had the fried avocado taco on corn tortilla, no cheese and sauce on the side. Brisket taco on corn tortilla and the beef fajita taco on flour tortilla. All were great but the beef fajita was excellent y'all! Sat at the bar for happy hour and tried the tall sangria with tequila and triple sec swirled! On the rocks, not frozen!! Let the bartender put love in the drink! Thanks for letting us hang out! Got our Torch lit again with the sangria swirl margarita and tried the Barbacoa Taco with tomatillo sauce and the avocado cream sauce on a corn tortilla! Looks like the brisket and beef fajita tacos are taking a backseat after this Deliciousness!!!! Went back again for the Mr.Orange Taco on corn tortilla! Muy Bueno amigos 😀. Salmon was blackened lightly and was cooked perfectly. Sangria swirl margaritas were delicious! Thank you Kennedy for the great bar service at happy hour. Took a beef burrito, light on the rice, home for Dad and he loved it! See y'all soon, Merry Texmas 🎄
Torchys on a Sunday afternoon has become our weekly tradition. This place is amazing. We love trying the new taco of the month. We are also grateful for their military discount. The tacos are unique and delicious. I'm a big fan of the green chili pork and brushfire! The spice is excellent. Also, you can't have a torchys day without their chips and queso. So good!
Torchy's has never failed to deliver. This was actually the first time we've eaten inside of one and it was excellent. I know this is a new location but all the staff was nice and they were pretty quick too! We ordered two margaritas and even though they were on the pricey side, they both tasted great. You can't go wrong with their queso and when you run out of chips you just ask for more! The Baja shrimp taco and chicken burrito we're good too! All in all a great experience and we're happy one opened up right near us. We'll definitely be back!
As always, the tacos and queso are great. I decided to be more adventurous than going with the breakfast taco I regularly get and tried the Republican BBQ brisket taco and I think it's my new go-to. I removed a star because they no longer serve the nookies desert and it seems they didn't have the staff to clear my table for me, which they consistently do at The Rim location; so I did it myself which made me feel like a sucker for giving them a tip. I gotta' start carrying cash just for tip. Paying it up front before you even get your food just makes no sense.
I've always had a love-hate relationship with Torchys. It's like they are trying to re make the Taco so much it turns it into an unappetizing stew. I, however, applaud their energy to innovate. I had their Taco of the month which was Indian derived and was great! The chicken was fried with a yellow Curry base. The Taco was topped with mint, Cilantro, multi colored peppers and diced mango. The other Taco I ordered was the Mr. Orange. It was not very flavorful and I had to douce it with sauce to power though it. I give it a 4star overall.
This is a pretty good place to eat. It’s nice because there hardly ever is a wait time. The prices are not too expensive, also. When I are here recently, I purchased the fajita tacos. My green bell peppers were not cooked well enough. They didn’t taste as good as what I usually get, which is the Democrat taco.
Some tacos have declined (The Wrangler) and some improved (Tipsy Chick). I'm glad Torchys finally realized that you cannot serve kids chicken tenders without Ketchup. It made absolutely no sense to me why they never had Ketchup for kids meals - but now they do. Not a fan of the "Order it yourself" screen ordering system.
We were wanting to get to go food quickly as we're passing by and unfortunately, it was a long wait for the food. I ordered 3 Democrats, 3 Baja shrimp tacos and an order of churros. Despite the drive home, the food was still decent. Maybe I was just starving. I will say the churros was pretty good. The slowness getting the food is really why I gave the 3 star rating.
My review is based on 7 visits: Personnel is very disorganized - I often get someone’s orders and my orders often ended up on other tables (and instead of re-doing them, employees simply switched the orders not thinking about anyone’s safely); Missing ingredients is a norm; Ice machine is not working since day one: ice doesn’t come through a dispenser or comes out very slow, I may stand for a minute or two to get a cup of ice; and this the drinks are not property chilled in the vending machine; Some employees are trying to provide a good service but in most cases they are not friendly nor even pretend to care about guests; Tables and chairs are always dirty (I always have to clean mine); Pounding music of all kind of genres gives a terrible headache (very unsafe noise level). 5* for the lady with the blond long pony tail at the bar - she is fast, not noisy, and creative - made me a great non-alcoholic drink. And tacos are great - much better than at other city locations, tortillas are tasty too, so as sauces and appetizers.
I ordered online for pickup, 5 bacon, egg and cheese tacos. In the past, these tacos used to be so generously filled that it was difficult to finish two. The last few times I have ordered for pickup, the tacos were so miniscule, it was mostly tortilla, with a very small amount of egg and a couple very small pieces of bacon. This has not happened once, but on several occasions. I am paying over $4 for a very basic taco, only to get a very small amount of egg with my tortilla. I don't know what is going on with this location but the quality and quantity of food has severely diminished. Also, the order kiosks just need to go.
Self checkout experience has been upgraded to complete trash. I spent more time having to go through the menu on the screen and looking up at the wall menu, that it was quite discouraging to keep going. It was late at night so didn’t want to go somewhere else and start again. Limited options to choose salsa for the tacos (specifically poblano unless it comes with it in the options when ordering). Tortillas were mildly cooked and seemed rubbery. The location has got amazing imagery and promotions of the Tacos they serve, and you get delivered deflating examples of their menu. The queso was lukewarm and discouragingly gooey instead of liquid gold as it was before. The only saving grace was the upgrade to their chairs which now have a cushion. All in all - Torchys has sold out to not have any inclusion to their customer base and what made them a great Texas brand for craft tacos. The level of disappointment is alarming and unexpected. Won’t ever come back.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant in about 5 years. The quality of the food and the service has dropped based on my experience at this location. This used to be my favorite. We were ignored when we walked in. (There wasnt kiosk ordering when I was there last) I was a little lost. They didn't bring out a couple items we ordered, and got one order wrong. It's annoying to customize your order on a kiosk, but still get the wrong thing. Out of my love for torchys I would try again, but not at this location.
I’ve been a regular at Torchy’s for years, but the new self-order kiosks are a disappointment. The process felt impersonal and frustrating, especially compared to ordering directly from the staff. Part of the experience was the friendly service and conversation while ordering, which the kiosk removes completely. Unless they bring back in-person ordering, I don’t plan to return.
This was our first time in since they replaced one of the cash registers with two self-service kiosks. The line to order and the time it took to get through it was 2-3 times longer than before. We saw people come in and get in line and give up and just leave. Whatever they’re saving in labor costs destroyed the customer experience - at least it did tonight. Tons of dirty dishes and trash was piled up on both trash cans indoors. Not the great experience we’ve been used to the last several years whatsoever. :(
Literally parts of the meat were ice-cold strait out of the cooler, everything else maybe lukewarm at best. I asked for a refund and brought the tacos to the front. They proceeded to take the tacos I’ve been touching to the kitchen. Contaminating the kitchen prep area. When I brought this up the manager didn’t think it was a big deal. Wonder how long it’s been since he taken the food handlers permit test. Anyway didn’t refund me instead voided the receipt so couldn’t make me a copy of the receipt. So now I’m hungry (not going to eat at a place that obviously [current staff on-site] can not keep a clean kitchen or even warm up food to a decent temperature) wasted a bunch of my time and not even sure if I got refunded. I’ll update if my card isn’t refunded. This was just ridiculous. The management and staff obviously cut corners and don’t care about the product being delivered even decently. So just as I expected it was never refunded and the “manager” was wrong. I told him what he did wouldn’t work and I needed a receipt, but now I’m screwed out of $22.79 because he didn’t listen. Stay far away from this place! Also that’s just partial of my card number blocked out. So I was informed last week that Eric the GM said I was never charged. So I disputed it with my credit card so hopefully they do the right thing and don’t try and dispute the dispute. We will see how it goes. Eric when you read this I opened the dispute on 2/24/2025 and your kitchen manager has my number. He is a great guy and was very helpful through all this.
This Torchy's Tacos is not what it used to be. Don't know if all locations have dropped in food quality but we were super disappointed. The tacos look very aesthetic (in pictures) but the taste is not as high in quality. Four years ago torchy's was booming in flavor and overall quality and now... not so much. The corn tortillas came out cold and the beans seem like they were canned. Just sad, especially for the price. Like $3 and something cents for a bean and cheese taco that did not have high quality taste. I'd recommend elsewhere, like Taco Blvd or Mamma Margies.
Worst service ever! On Veterans Day they had a meal deal for the vets, which is great! I decided to go in with my dad who served for over 26 years, and never treats himself on Veterans Day. This year I thought I would go with him so he can get his meal deal! We got there and there was a handful of vets waiting, and we placed our order and waited with them. There were a handful of other customers who arrived after us and who were not vets, these people received their food well before any veterans did! I understand that the veterans got a meal deal, but their orders should not of been put on the back burner as opposed to the regular customers who didn’t receive this offer. We waited there for about 40 minutes for one taco, along with several other veterans. I was disappointed in the establishment and its service to the veterans. These men and women fought/fight hard for the freedom and liberty were able to have in America and I found this incredibly disrespectful! Will not be returning!
Not a good experience at all. The service has changed significantly—staffing has been reduced, yet prices have gone up, and they no longer offer first responder or military discounts. Being required to order your own food is a pretty poor experience, especially when I needed assistance and no one was available at the front for quite a while. Someone from the kitchen briefly came out but never returned. I eventually left and won’t be coming back…believe me..
Very disappointed with my visit. A customer brought a dog inside the dining area and let it go over the drink and takeout station. The dog was not a service animal. When I told the manager it was a health code violation, he said, “I know,” and walked away. That level of disregard for sanitation and safety is unacceptable. If you’re eating here, just know the drink area had a dog on it. I won’t be returning until management takes public health seriously.
Torchy’s used to be amazing; staff was on top of things, food was great, online orders were ready well before pickup. Ever since the self serve kiosks were added in, service has completely tanked. Online orders take an unbelievably long time to be fulfilled, the staff doesn’t seem as present (it seems they’ve cut staff down), and the food is not as good as before. Would love for Torchy’s to get their act together again, because this is not it.
