This my favorite restaurant near work. I wish they opened earlier for lunch, the railroad burger is to die for. The whole menu is fabulous, and Sunday brunch is a must do.
Love this bistro for lunch dates. Their calamari is golden and crispy with some breaded jalapeno slices included. We always get the crab melt sandwiches with garlic fries. It's the perfect amount of crab meat to go with the sandwich. It comes plain so sometimes I like to add a piece of lettuce. It gets busy at the peak of lunch on the weekdays and there's only 2 waitresses, but the wait isn't that long to get your food. Overall it's a nice small spot tucked in the back of Hercules towards the water. I highly recommend it.
First time visit and we loved it. Very good clam chowder, salmon sandwich with garlic fries. With real garlic on the fries not that Jarred crap. The grilled cod tacos were also very good Good attentive service, we will return
I eat at the Keg every Sunday for brunch. The server is always friendly and efficient. People are very friendly and easy to talk to. The food is delicious. We are working our way through the entire brunch menu as everything we have had so far has been so good. Have never been disappointed!
I must say this is a nice gem, it was my first time going there the other day and I ordered the fish and chips, thee best I have had. The waitress was very kind, the prices were decent and the atmosphere was pleasant. I will be Coming back again.
This place is a solid 4 to 4.5 on average, but I gave it 5 because it can be a 5 on the right occasion. Meals are a little pricey (even before some of the more recent inflation spikes), but that is offset by great happy hour drink prices and specials. In general, their food meets pub food standards and is tasty. If you go to Sunday brunch, you can get the chicken breast instead of wings on the Chicken and Waffles, but it is an upcharge. I enjoyed it. The other photo is one of the scrambles but I can't remember the name, and lastly the Bloody Mary with the fixings. That one was fun to try once!
1st time eating here. This place is located in a serene residential area. It boasts a varied menu, pleasant atmosphere and good service. The food was delicious. They have great outdoor dining spaces. The perfect place for "ladies who lunch", a client meeting or watching the game while having a few cocktails.
Although the service was just okay, not overly friendly or quick, the atmosphere (via the bar) was great with convenient menus & TV's (no volume, which was disappointing). Their food was pretty tasty! We liked their side salad w. blue cheese dressing. The garlic noodles were good, but mussels were small & not very plentiful. The hamburger was pricey ($13.95) but yummy w. avocados & caramelize onions. I had a wonderful conversation, during 'Happy Hour.' The $1 oysters with spicy cocktail sauce were a smart choice!
Powder Keg is a good little bar and grill in the heart of "New Hercules", when the city decided they needed a commercial area. The food is decent. It is restaurant supply truck food, most of it anyway, but it's upper end and fairly priced. Nice to see a burger for under 15 bucks in the bay area. Service is usually friendly and pleasant, but I have a feeling they turn staff frequently. There is a lot of " I don't know's" if you ask any questions of substance. Anotjer possibility: the age of AI, maybe help is just stupid now. As a bar: they have a few beers on tap and a few good on rotation, but overall they lack quote a bit. Zero domestic on draft ( its a not-so-clever way of charging a premium for draft beer). Disproportionate IPA, uncreative IMO. And worst of all: their bar stools do not have a back rest. Inherently uncomfortable. Atmosphere: aside from uncomfortable bar stools, the decorum is good. Pays a homage to the cities gun powder & dynamite founding. Cool old pics of the factory adorn the place. Good TV ratio, good spot to catch a football game on Saturday or Sunday. It's quaint.
I would definitely get this like a six out of 10 the cleanliness they can do way better fly’s and Nats are ridiculous. I’m swinging more of the bugs than I am eating. They look like they have food residue on the tables in the highchair for my guy baby like do y’all even think about cleaning your furniture? I could barely get any phone connection. They don’t have no Wi-Fi like come on bro y’all can do way better.
Clam chowder was delicious. Bread a bit too dry. Calamari was rubbery. I had a gift card to here, ended up with money left on it. Gave the gift card to a family. Was not going to go back again, why keep the card. My dinner guest ended up getting sick after we got home. Not a great experience
Hadn’t been here in years. The last time I went the food was so greasy it gave everyone an almost instant stomach ache. Fast forward to last week. My family and I decided to go have dinner while in the area hoping things changed. It was around 625 when we arrived. Standing at the door waiting to be acknowledged after a family of 6 was just sat. Now it’s 630 and the hostess/wait staff told me they wouldn’t be able to seat us and serve us before the kitchen closed. When I asked what time they closed she said 7. That closing time is just absurd, second there were people getting up. It was two adults and two kids who would be eating what chicken strips and fries…. So after being turned away I sent an email to the contact on the website. As of today no response…. Am I surprised no, the service is a direct reflection of the management.
