Pretty much what you would expect from any DQ location. Although not "new" or "fancy ", the place is always clean. The service is good, and the food is good - and in the Texas heat, everyone needs some ice cream, right?

Friendly small-town service with good food. I love that they have regular sized napkins instead of those dinky small ones you usually find at Dairy Queens.

We stopped in for an ice cream treats. They have always been a well run fast food establishment. They have the Dairy Queen fast food items, including their signature Blizzards. Always a treat. One thing unique to the Texas franchises is They have very good tacos.

We visit this DQ while we where travelling from Rio Frio river to San Antonio. It was late morning but the order took a while but food was great the employees where friendly and helpful. I would suggest them to provide some extra napkins whenever there is some large orders.

This is the ghetto DQ around here lol. Run down, blah service, blah food, rarely made fresh. Too expensive to not be fresh. Sometimes you get an attitude from the drive thru employees, more often than not actually. I'll always prefer Castroville location, they are cheaper on pricing anyways. I don't go here unless my kid brother wants to come here (picky eater). It's not in my top 20 places to eat in the area. --if there's ever that many places-- I did get some pictures of the menu since you can never find any anywhere so hopefully those come to use for some people.

I dislike it because the gravy is disgusting it looks expired. And they put gravy in our kid's meal and it spilled all over the bag.

Good food but there were too many after school kids just hanging around for no reason being loud making a mess and cussing. U can tell the staff was frustrated. They need to ask the kids to leave if they are not going to buy anything so paying customers can eat and hv a place to sit. They took up a whole vorner. Hondo Tx

Cook handling wet veggies without gloves and at drive thru we were able to see everything and drinking a cold drink while cooking my order. Manager was right in front and didn't say anything. Not happy about my order.

Chicken fingers but they have no hot sauce ........???? Their bbq sace was awful, WTH? Chicken strips were awful. The breading was discusting. My wife says that they have recently changed the breading on the chicken and she too was quite disappointed. I'll be going back to Whataburger. But no hot sauce of anykind in Texas????? That's pretty bad. 🤦‍♂️ They could even serve Texas Petes for pennies but apearently that's too much.

My husband and I cannot eat bread We'll order stuff with no bun and eat with fork and knife. That usually entails making the burger in a container, which they did. Tell me what hunger is going to be busted with this? They gave us no condiments!!!! None!!! 11 bucks for this and some fries. I wanted to cry and we live in the country so we couldn't just return it without it being another trip for my kids. It was busy but there were about 8 employees present, so the building really shouldn't have been that freaking messy. I'm surprised no one slipped and sued. Honestly. DQ in Castroville is awesome!! No offense, but yes.

The blizzards are usually a bit melted. The staff and managers are very rude.

Drive thru lunch at 12:15, and the fries were soggy & cold in the combo basket. Nacho’s were not what was expected...although I guess it’s a hit or miss with DQ’s these days anyways. Very disappointed and won’t be going back to this one.

Service was terrible, when they made my order wrong I asked them for the correct one and the people behind the counter were saying terrible things about me for returning the food (saying things on how i look and i just want it for free) and when they gave the correct order it was raw and soaked in grease ( Assuming to teach me a leason) DQ needs to shut this one down or complete restructure.

I was passing through hondo when my boyfriend wanted to stop at Dairy Queen here. I ordered a turtle pecan blizzard through the drive thru because it is my favorite dessert. When I received the treat it seemed to be pretty much vanilla ice cream in a cup with a few pecans in the mix. As we were pulling out from the drive through, I was mixing the ice cream looking for any shards of what is my favorite part of the dish, the pieces of chocolate that gets hard when it touches the frozen dessert and there was just little specs, the size of ground pepper. I was upset that I spent almost $5 on a mediocre version of a desert. I went back inside to ask for another one because I was not satisfied. The same girl that made my treat the first time around, hands me a NEW blizzard that is the exact kind as the one I returned with out saying a word to me. I said thank you and walked to my car, again searching for the chocolate. I was so upset that I just left my ice cream there. I have never had a problem with this desert from any other DQ stores before. Frankly, I will not be stopping by at the DQ in hondo again.

When I pickup my order at the counter and took the tray with the food to my table and set it down, my hands were all smeared with ketchup from the bottom of the tray. I let another girl at the counter know but she just staired. No apologies. Was served food on a dirty filthy tray. I guess nobody wanted to wash trays that day.

Tried to get the grilled flame hamburger with the jalepeno bacon like advertised on TV. She didn't know what I was talking about. She said their flame has no bacon just one Patti and sauce, very disappointed.

Absolutely THE WORST customer service experience Saturday evening 10/7/2023. Coming from out of town for a band festival called in advance at 9:30pm to make sure dining area was open because the website indicates HONDO DQ open until 11pm and Female employee assured me YES dining area open until 11pm. Family members arrived before me and ordered and when I arrived I was informed by a disgruntled unfriendly cashier that because it is 9:51 pm I would need to take my order TO GO because the dining area was now closed.. while trying to explain we are here together another employee literally RUNS to LOCKUP the door at 9:52pm with my 2 other family members in the parking lot unable to get in.. until someone allowed them in. The joyful evening was ruined by these salty young ladies annoyed by our choice to dine in after they had assured me they were open until 11pm. One of them stated they don't go by what the DQ site says. I guess they make up their own evening rules/hours. They served our meal In a To Go bag and boxes and we took it to the Table where my family members were sitting who had ordered a few minutes before 9:50 pm. This whole experience was disgustingly Ridiculous and disappointing and should be a case study on the importance of communication and customer service to the paying customer who is there to enjoy time eating great food (compliments to the cooks) but Instead we were made to feel unwelcomed while we ate our meal. A person may not remember what you say.. but they will always remember how you make them feel.. Hondo Dairy Queen you need evening employees that care about the importance of great customer service. At least say Hi smile and how can I help you. Maybe corporate office needs to clarify the specific time one can dine in to avoid dissatisfied customers and employees that get upset for showing up at 9:51 pm.

I was waiting in line for about 5 minutes and there are employees standing around doing nothing. Finally an employee comes to my friend and I and says nothing and just stares. She never even said hello. I start placing my order and watch her make my food. She was being so careless with my food. When she gives us our food she has a very upset look on her face. I say “Thank You” and leave without a “Your Welcome”.

I don’t know what changed here but it’s not the same service as in the past. I Always get a Hawaiian blizzard but recently it’s been mostly ice cream with coconut. I’m lucky if there’s two banana slices and two pineapple chunks. It used to take the server a couple or three minutes to make it. Now it takes 30 secs. No care just rush regardless of quality. I mostly go on the evenings by the way.

Good food and friendly service. Get yourself a Dilly Bar and cool off here from the ridiculous heat. Edit 1: In the bit over a year that I've been living in the area again I have had many occasions to frequent this DQ. This place has also failed me now many many times. If you are not dining in do a thorough check of your order in about 20 visits I've not had one order completed correctly.
