It was my first time visiting this place. It was a vibe. I loved the esthetics and the cozy feel. The coffee was really good. I had a caramel machiatto and it was honestly the best one I have had. The barissta that took my order was really nice and wanted to make sure I liked my coffee. The parking lot was packed but there was free parking on the street since it's in a neighborhood. I definitely would recommend this place.
By far my favorite coffee shop in Houston! Big fan of their cappuccino w/ oat milk and nitro cold brew! Great place to study, sit and enjoy the atmosphere. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating, and being in a beautiful neighborhood makes for a nice backdrop. Parking lot is small but there is normally street parking! 10/10
5 stars for the atmosphere- def going to do as much grad school work here as I can because it's amazing! With a lot of cool people gathered here for work and study groups as well- but still really chill. I don't even drink coffee
The most amazing and coolest cafe in Houston. If you are in and around university area this is worth a drive. The vibe is very legit 💝. Loved my Cajeta latte it was absolutely amazing and the nitro hibiscus 🌺 berry tea was really nice. I will revisit this cafe. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor is available.service is fast and staff are super friendly A must try is coconut tres leches it’s not very sweet and it was fresh.
Friendly staff, clean space, and relatively low prices for such a good cup of coffee! They also don’t blast their music too loud, which is AWESOME. I’ll definitely be back!
Black Hole Coffee House 💫 — officially one of my new favorite hangout spots! Met up with a new friend here after they invited me, and WOW… the vibes were vibing. It’s super cute for a coffee date, a friend meetup, solo reading time, or getting some remote work done. Cozy, warm energy, and a really easy place to settle in. The staff? Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. The atmosphere? Chef’s kiss—soft indie, artsy Houston magic. And listen… you KNOW I gotta highlight the plant powered goodies. Milk alternatives for days — oat, soy, almond, and more. But the real stars? ✨ Sinful Bakery options, baby! Those bars and rolls? My Lord… And that chickpea vegan sandwich? She understood the assignment. I grabbed an oat matcha and it was delicious — smooth, earthy, sweet, everything you want in a cozy cup. Can’t wait to go back for more goodies and another vibe check (spoiler: it’s gonna pass). Highly, highly recommend. 10/10 pepper x spicy. 🌶️🔥
Black Hole is my favorite coffee spot in Houston. I highly recommend getting an iced latte with their new cardamom syrup, or a frozen lemonade if it’s a hot day. My partner swears by their nitro cold brew. Lots of space to sit inside and outside, with WiFi for those who need to get some work done. Nice food options - I love the vegan breakfast burritos and the chickpea sandwich. Service is always great - Cley, Collin, Greg and Andy are all the best!
My friend’s roommate told me about this coffee shop because we are all caffeine addicts. I ran out of coffee beans last week, so I came to buy some today. The beans smell good and are high-quality. I strongly recommend them! The vibe in this coffee shop is chill. I will come here again to enjoy my afternoon with a fantastic coffee and snacks.
Nestled in Houston’s cozy Black Hole Coffeehouse the mocha decaf is a delightful treat—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Paired with the gluten-free cookie, which is buttery with a hint of salt, it’s a match made in heaven. The street parking is convenient, and the ambiance is relaxed, ideal for a late afternoon unwind. Whether studying or catching up with friends, this spot hits the mark. Five stars well-deserved for quality and charm!
We were visiting friends and saw this coffee house next door. Glad we did. It's got great people with great drinks. I usually get a hot cappuccino wit' 2 splendas to test the waters but if you buy a bag of beans they give you a free cup of that coffee, it was very good. When I got the beans home I ground some and shared a cup with my wife. Very good. Fair trade. organic and kosher. The bag had lots of info which i like. They even had a roast date. I bought a bag of Big Bend Coffee Roaster's Big Blend...roasted in Marfa. My wife got, shared and enjoyed an iced mocha coconut coffee concoction....it was very good. We will be back for more drinks and goodies and beans. I scored and obliterated a large peanut butter cookie 'cause i was feeling a tad hangry....it it the spot.
Black Hole Coffee Shop offers a unique and vibrant experience just a six-minute stroll away from the Museum of Fine Art. The exterior boasts ample outdoor seating, perfect for the weather, while the colorful, trendy, and artistic interior immediately captivates. The staff seems to genuinely enjoy their work, creating a positive atmosphere. As you step inside, the intense and inviting aroma of coffee instantly elevates your spirits. The extensive latte options include a standout cappuccino with delightful whipped cream. The service is exemplary—fast, attentive, knowledgeable, and advisory. If proximity allowed, I would make this my daily workspace, reveling in the fantastic environment, energy, and of course, the commendable coffee offerings. Bravo to Black Hole Coffee Shop, undeniably one of the finest options near the Museum of Fine Art.
This is such a nice place to drink a chai, read a book, and enjoy a calm atmosphere. The person making the drinks is spectacular at what they do - I have thought about my chai several days since going! They have nonbinary bathrooms, which is always nice, and the insides are covered with art and stickers. There are several comfy couches to choose from inside, in addition to a couple of tables and chairs outside. There aren't a ton of bright colors, and the music isn't very loud either. Definitely a place to enjoy some solid downtime.
Get the caramel latte and thank me later! Smokey, creamy, rich, and perfect! Their syrups are house-made and they have a happy hour in the afternoon. Fun vibe and great drinks!
Good vegan snack options ! Decent enough drinks. A bit small of course since it's in montrose but has some outdoor seating as well. parking kind of sucks because it's a small lot.
This place is very lax. The last few times I've come by to do some work it's been three quarters full. Unfortunately, the food options are limited. Most of the time only mozzarella sandwiches and b…
Ambiance . Service was friendly . I had desert a huge cinnamon roll coffee and tea were bomb
OK cup of coffee. Got the cajeta. I was going to work there on the Internet. When I tried to join it asked for my receipt order number. I paid cashless and put my number in for the receipt. I didn’t get the text, but that was all my fault because I didn’t realize the setting in iPhone where it put texts from unknown numbers in a different location. So not their fault at all. The shop was nice. Decent coffee. It’s not the greatest vibe in there, but it has parking and the service was fast. I would have had a better experience if not for my stupid seeing on my iPhone, which I’m going to fix right now. 😏
Good coffee and great cookies. Service was great. Great little neighborhood place to get coffee.

Very cool & laid back coffee shop! It is tucked away but has plenty of parking. Can't wait to try the nitro hibiscus berry tea!

Cashier was really sweet, however there was one staff member that I apologized for having my drink on the table and picked it up for them to spray cleanser (less than 2 ft from my drink), received no acknowledgement beyond an eye roll and a huff. Guess they could tell I wasn't from the area. It was recommended in the Houston Café Passport. Drove from the other side of the city because the vibes were the highlight in the passport. Didn't feel it. Actually packed my things and left to go to another recommended cafè. All that said, the vegan breakfast burrito was really good. Just get it to go! EDITED: I received notification that the owner responded, well not really, just a thumbs up. Because I checked their response, I checked out some of the other reviews. I realized I am very generous with my rating. Definitely made me realize I need to be more accurate with my reviews. By the way, if you don't want to purchase the Houston Cafè Passport, follow me. I am giving reviews on all of the coffee shops in Houston that are in the passport! Best of luck everyone!
Rustic, neighborhood coffee shop I tried the Maté latte and couldn’t taste much of coffee flavor. It was very reminiscent of milk (black) tea. Service was solid - staff are friendly. Atmosphere: I mostly go to coffee shops to study / work and Black Hole isn’t my favorite for that. The wifi is limited to a couple hours. There’s different seating but the places along the wall sockets feature harder surfaces, which are uncomfortable to sit on. The building is on the older side and feels damp and cold.

the place is cute, not as busy as the other coffee shops i go to in houston. My drink tasted fine but I don't trust consuming any of the food and I'm lowkey afraid of the drink i have right now. I …
Cool vibes, kinda dive bar/art bar feels. Coffee was fine. Pretty much all the staff seemed to be annoyed by having to interact with any customer in any way. Plenty of power outlets

I like the coffee and the location but service is bad. This afternoon the male staff who was serving coffee was really rude.

The mocha coffee here was great. The large size felt more like a medium, but that’s me being nitpicky. My main issue was the Wi-Fi, it was unnecessarily annoying to access, requiring a form that asked for the receipt code, your email, and the exact amount charged. And it was only avaliable for two hours, "Connect for two hours using a receipt purchased within the last thirty minutes." If a receipt is required to use the Wi-Fi, it shouldn’t even be an option to refuse the printed receipt in the first place. There are other coffee/drink houses more accommodating.
I was looking for a new study spot and came across this place online. Their reviews looked promising. I walked in as they open at 6:30 AM and by 6:40 AM I was back in my vehicle, leaving to go to Brass Tacks. Waste of $12. The latte they served me was just as bland as the personality of the person who took my order. This latte is flavorless and taste exactly like milk. They only have cold food options and the furniture was very uncomfortable. Realistically, I knew that I would not be able to stay here for a long study session. Also, I was put off by the two hour limit on the Wi-Fi. If they had flavorful options to choose from there would be no issue getting people to purchase food/drinks continuously. Whomever the owner is who posts the thumbs up sign on negative reviews can just skip this one because that type of response is passive aggressive, and it shows why the guy at the register had the personality that he does.
We visited at 1:30 on a Wednesday it wasn’t that busy, but the guy who was at the front was not in the best mood he definitely brought the atmosphere down. Rather than a “Hey welcome in” we got a “what can i do for you.” I understand not everyone is in the best mindset at work, but when someone is visiting for the first time it’s a let down. The guy was really not happy to help anyone, and I highly don’t recommend cajeta latte…
Staff always has the worst attitude I recommend getting your coffee or tea elsewhere so you don't have to deal with feeling unwelcomed
I came here around 1pm today and experienced the worst service. I was excited to be back because I hadn't been in a long time, but I've never come across staff who seemed to care less. The two guys behind the counter were obviously not happy to be there. We were initially ignored when we approached the counter and we were skipped twice before our order was taken and any inquiry was met with an attitude. I won't be back.
Poor service from the closer on 3/2. Didn't take off gloves from throwing out trash to make my drinks. Drinks were missing oat milk that I was charged extra for. Wasn't around to have it corrected. Really used to enjoy this place now it's gone down hill.
