We left another restaurant nearby and thankfully came back to El Tiempo to have the best service ever delicious classic Tex-Mex, and awesome atmosphere. We were treated completely like family by some of the staff who had worked with the El Tiempo family for as many as 30 years. Stick with the classics such a fun time.

We came for dinner and shared the steak and chicken fajitas and the spinach enchiladas which were all very delicious with good portion sizes. Liked the margarita Monday special too! The service was efficient and friendly.

Always amazingly delicious. Fajitas Cooked to perfection! Salsa is always delicious. Guacamole is so good it reminds me of little border towns. Rainy day here and the staff act as though the sun always shines! I love it!

Some real Tex Mex which is exactly what I was hoping for. We have great Mexican food in CO but harder to find good Tex mex and this place hit the spot. Plenty of room mid day on a Friday, parked right out front and service was great.

Food was delicious. Abit pricey for my opinion. Services was great, quick and friendly. Place is clean but old. So expect old feeling. Overall i would come again for lunch but not daily lunch. My budget cant spend $20 daily for lunch yet.

The food here was excellent. We had the mixed fajitas and they were just as good as the other locations I’ve been to. The place feels a bit cramped but it had a second floor as well. Parking seems to be valet only but it’s free (tips are appreciated).

I came here for the first time ever, and it EXCEEDED my expectations! I was SO happy, I tipped almost 3x my total, including tax! (I gave my server $5 cash, and payed via card $10, just for tip! I later realized they forgot to charge me for the small orange juice I drank, but it doesn't matter!) I came here for a group social event to celebrate Bi+ Visibility (Day, week, month... It's tomorrow and now!) Unfortunately, I was a party of one, but I completely enjoyed myself! The generosity and hospitality of the staff was superb! The decoration and atmosphere made me feel like I had stepped into a piece of Mexico. I believe that was the goal of the owners? I read (with some help, because my Spanish is still improving... 😅) a piece of art, and it really sweet the theme up for a great time enjoyed with friends and family. There was even a family enjoying a meal together, that I enjoyed, but respectfully asked to include them in this review. They respectfully declined. No problem! I asked one of the servers about the atmosphere and artwork. They informed me that the owners spent a LOT of money and time and effort going into the design of this place. That knowledge made it even that much more enjoyable! On my way in, there was artwork that I was welcome to enjoy, and I decided to donate, because it enhanced the experience. Frida Kahlo! How appropriate! She was Bi+ too, and it's Hispanic Heritage Month. I appreciated that! Once I was ready to order, I had quite a few questions. I am vegetarian/pescatarian with hopes of going vegan one day. My server was knowledgeable of their menu, and I got my questions answered about the Brunch menu. I ended up eating the Crépe Style Pecan Pancakes. It was DELICIOUS! 🤤😋 Just what I needed for brunch! The bathrooms, when I needed to wash my hands, were BEYOND my expectations yet again! Yes, it may be old and worn out in places, but I felt safe! They are very aware of the importance of washing one's hands, especially after the COVID-19 scare, and in general. It was low key non specific to COVID, which I greatly appreciated. There were suggestions on how one might way their hands. "Knowledge is power!" I'm VERY happy with this experience, and look forward to coming back! Thank you ALL!

Delicious food with a great vibe. 2 story with plenty of seating. Everything was good although I will say it's on the pricier side. Valet is complementary. Got seated super fast and again the food was delicious. If you get seated in the top floor then you can get a pretty nice view of Westheimer.

Perfect place for a large group on Sunday afternoon. We celebrated an 18th birthday in the family and there was room for us at around 1pm. It was great. The food was wonderful. The staff were attentive. The atmosphere was inviting and uplifting. Good experience overall.

El tiempo is a Houston staple and one of the places I bring visitors or go to with a large group of friends since they have a ton of seating. The fajitas and margs are the best things about el tempo. Margs are boozy and fruity, the fajitas meat is cooked well and with the au jus tastes amazing (especially the steak). I usually get the combo chicken and steak. The two downsides is that it is slightly pricey for casual tex mex food (paid $90 for 2 people with one drink each and no apps). Also the self parking is limited and usually you will have to valet at this location. Overall good if you are craving food fajitas. PSA, if you are looking for very spicy salsas, the ones included with the chips are not spicy. Order the habanero salsa which is VERY spicy

We went to El Tiempo this past Friday because I was really in the mood for some Tex-Mex. I visited this location for the first time, and right away I was a bit turned off by the valet situation—you basically have to valet if you want to park close to the restaurant. I chose to park on the street instead, and honestly, it felt completely safe. When we walked in, there were two hosts at the front. They didn’t greet us, smile, or acknowledge us until I told them we needed a table for two. Not the warmest first impression. However, we were seated fairly quickly, and our chips and drinks came out right away. Despite how busy it was, our server was kind, attentive, and overall great. We ordered two micheladas, which were really good, and the fajitas were delicious—definitely the highlight of the experience. The music was also a nice touch and added to the atmosphere. On our way out, the same hosts were chatting among themselves and didn’t say a word—not even a “thank you for coming.” Customer service at the front definitely needs improvement, especially since the hosts are the first and last faces guests see. Overall, I would go back for the food, but I hope the hosts work on their customer service.

My daughter picked this place out on our way to Galveston; it was cool and I liked the decor. My teen teased about the music not matching the scene; different genres playing when we went. The flavor was a bit different than DFW, but I finished my plate! Salsas were more sweet than spicy. I enjoyed the cheese enchilada the most! The chicken fajitas and charro beans were good, the beef taco was not bad, and we saw green rice for the first time! Could never remember the name of the restaurant if someone asked me though.

We visited this Mexican restaurant as a group of four and had a great time overall. While I personally would rate it a 3, the rest of the table thought it deserved a 4, so we’re going with a consensus rating of 4 stars. We ordered shrimp fajitas, steak fajitas, guacamole, and a platter that included an enchilada, a taco, rice, and refried beans. The refried beans were surprisingly tasty! For dessert, we had tres leches cake and flan—both were very sweet, but if you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love them. I don’t usually go for very sweet desserts, but they were still quite good. One thing that surprised us was that the food wasn’t spicy at all. We enjoy spicy food, so we expected a bit more heat, but everything was quite mild. Drinks-wise, we had skinny margaritas. They were okay—not amazing, but decent. In terms of pricing, the total for four people, including tip, was just over $200 (about $50 per person). Given the quality and quantity of food, we found this to be very fair. Overall, a solid choice for Mexican food with good value. Would I rush back? Maybe not, but the rest of my group enjoyed it more than I did. Worth trying if you’re in the area!

This is another mexican restaurant that also feels like the restaurants back home (Mexico) aimed to attract tourists. (Including the mexican hat worn backwards). Food is good though. The totopos (what people in english call tortillas chips) were really good. Salsas were just ok. The best in my opinion was the green/ guacamole like though I still found it a little flavourless. We ordered the carnitas. They cook them in 2 styles: old (that is extra cooked) and the new (which is softer). They said the old style is the way it is cooked originally in Mexico. To be honest in my opinion was just backwards (not sure which part of Mexico they were talking about. Maybe a different region than were I’m from). They came in a comal to keep them warm. I really enjoyed the “new” style and found the others more on the chewy side. They also came with grilled chiles (the waiter brought us extra since they were delicious), rice and beans. The service was really good by the way. I will still come back to this place and recommend (but with the understanding this is more like a tex-mex restaurant. Sorry Im very picky with my mexican food)

Food was great and the margaritas were strong, but this place was crowded and did take a while to seat us, however it was a Friday night in a busy area, so I understand the wait. I recommend a different time or making a reservation ahead of time. It’s a little overpriced but again, given the area, I can understand. I don’t see myself coming again due to the food being overpriced when I can get it at other restaurants for less, but it was a good time. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional.

First, they have parking but will only do valet which is ridiculous. Front door is unnecessarily heavy. The food was great, the waiter was not. She had an attitude as soon as she realized we were not going to be drinking alcohol. We were sat by a secondary door and the wind from outside was coming through the bottom of the door, my sister got cold and we switched seats. She brought the food out and saw we switched seats and decided to then ignore us and proceed to set hot plates down on the table to the wrong person. There was only 3 of us, so she definitely saw the switch, we told her and she did not care. So we let her set the hot plates down and we then proceeded to move these extremely hot plates ourselves using the napkins. We will not be back.

Rusty vents leak on you while you eat. They made a guest from my party clean the vent. Horrible service. Will never come back here. Manager said there is nothing they can do about it and other people complain about the same thing. Horrible. Don’t commit to that many people if a RUSTY VENT IS GOING TO LEAK ON THEM
