We javbeen going to Osaka for at least 18 years and they never disappoint! They are so welcoming and professional. The food is always made to perfection. I usually eat 3 rolls myself and not a piece is ever left of someone else cannot finish their own! We last were here in April 2025 before seeing Cynthia Erivo at the Houston Symphony! A perfect meal before a flawless performance! I don't have any food pix but trust me they are made with care and pride. It is es to be located across the street and was happy when they inky moved to their current lo nation, staying in the Montrose area.

Let me start off by saying the waiter seemed like the owner. Very much seemed like he was running the show in the best way possible! Asking about different things and answering questions without hesitation easy and honestly how most places should be. The food was really good I had the Mt. Fuji roll and the Shaggy dog roll, both of which were great, the rest of my table had the chicken hibachi and although they said the sauce was a little sweeter than others there were no complaints and all the plates were cleaned (other than a few onions). The steamed rice was cooked perfectly as well. The water that you order comes out in a pitcher and it is lemon water, which I am sure you could ask for plain water if you would rather. The atmosphere was really nice, clean and modern. They play some music and although it seemed a tiny bit loud for part of one song it was not anything too crazy and fit the looks of the place. Overall the place has awesome food, the service was the best I have had in YEARS, and the vibe/feeling of the place was really chill. P.S. the seats were really comfortable if this is something that really matters to you. I did not have to readjust at all.

Once we walked in we were greeted super nicely by a sweet old lady — she overall gave us an amazing service. As for the food, the sushi rolls we ordered were delicious and will definitely go back to try other stuff off the menu. Highly recommend it.

We happened upon this gem and I can say this falls in my top 2 Sushi spots!! This is an easy no fluff sushi spot and I will definitely be returning here. The service was impeccable and our waiter was great as well. We got a shrimp appetizer and some ice cream on the house!! It was very sweet of them. I would highly recommend coming here

Hands down one of the best sushi spots we’ve discovered in Houston! We were actually headed to Traveler’s Table when we spotted this hidden gem—and something told me to give it a shot. And wow, the universe did not miss! The vibe was calm and inviting, and the sushi? Insanely fresh, rich, and full of flavor. No regrets; just great sushi. We’ll definitely be back!

We drove from Humble to experience all that is Osaka. The food, atmosphere, and service were outstanding. Everything was prepared with care, full of flavor and beautifully presented. The owner prepared a special complementary appetizer which was also spectacular. If you are looking for a great date night, a meal with friends and family, or just a great meal to go, Osaka is the place! Highly recommended!!

Every time I've come here I've had great service, and even have been given a free apatizer or desert to try. The sushi is pretty good and I personally enjoy getting the ramen. Cute cozy atmosphere. Update: Still great food!

I don’t know where to begin everything was so amazing! We walked in and immediately we were seated our waiter was so nice and informative. We started off with rolls and drinks, my husband tried their Japanese imported beer and swears by it and I just got a Dr Pepper. I have no clue what the appetizer was but it was GOOD! We got the California roll, spider roll and a crunchy roll you could tell everything was just made and super fresh! When it came time to order our main meal we both got hibachi. I got the shrimp and my husband got the chicken they even gave us the option to make it spicy so we got a regular shrimp and spicy chicken. Our food came out fast they really wasted no time the onions and zucchini we’re perfectly cooked and the shrimp was so juicy and crispy at the same time I tried my husbands spicy chicken and his was crispy and juicy but with a little kick to it, the flavors blended so wonderfully together. While we were eating I noticed how amazing the staff were every time a party came in someone was right there to greet them and seat them immediately, the table next to us after they left the waitress immediately cleared it off and wiped everything down wasting no time at all! When it came time to finish our meal our waiter bagged our leftovers for us and we got mango ice cream while we waited for the food and bill I highly recommend the mango ice cream it was so rich and creamy but very light after a big meal. Overall our experience was 10/10 the staff, atmosphere, food and drinks were all so wonderful I definitely see us driving the 3 hours to Houston for another weekend getaway and making sure Osaka is guaranteed stop! We came up here for a football game but I feel like dinner was the highlight of the whole trip!

This place always gives generous portions of nigiri and sashimi. Fish 1. Otoro here is very good. Portion sizes are big so order a few at first. 2. Sea trout is very good. Very tasty and fresh. Must order for every visit. 3. Salmon is also good here. 4. I’d avoid the white tuna. It comes seared and is dry and doesn’t taste fresh. I think it’s just the type of fish used and I’ve never liked it every time I’ve had it. 5. Don’t get the scallops. It’s not fresh. It’s frozen and thawed and lacks the sweetness of a fresh scallop. 6. Surf clam is good. 7. Salmon egg and flying fish egg is also good. They always give you a free appetizer and dessert. Good food and service here. I’d come here whenever I’m looking for sashimi.

Went here on a date during my time in HTX. The service was definitely top tier. They welcomed us, checked on us, offered free appetizers to enjoy. Everything was great. The only area of growth I would say was the hibachi itself tasted pretty oily. Other than that the drinks were definitely hitting!!! The mango ice cream is bomb!!! Definitely coming back when I’m in town!!!

Stopped by Osaka Japanese Restaurant on a whim, and I’m so glad I did. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming right from the start. I started with the edamame and pork dumplings—both were fresh, flavorful, and a great way to kick things off. Then I had the Houston Roll, which was packed with flavor and had the perfect crispy texture on the outside. Everything tasted like it was made with care. The service was awesome too—friendly, quick, and super attentive. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

I wouldn’t return due to the lack of flavor and overall quality of the sushi. We ordered a mix of nigiri and rolls. The nigiri was especially disappointing, the fish was bland, the rice texture was off, and everything tasted largely the same. Even the pickled ginger and wasabi seemed low quality and stale. The rolls were decent, but the only truly enjoyable item was the complimentary appetizer. Overall, this restaurant falls below my standards for a repeat visit.
