Avis sur La Calle Cantina Houston
I came in the middle of the day 2PM, Angel was my server. He made suggestions and everything he suggested was DELICIOUS! I did get the lime margarita at his suggestion and it was delightful. I had 5 street tacos ( Beef tacos were my favorite) and a strong margarita. I was happy and satisfied. Come sit at the bar and dance while you eat. Good vibes, delicious food.
They may be small, however they pack a lot of flavor in each one. They honor the Taco Gods by having a Taco Tuesday special. Rogelio was packed with customers when we got there and still provided us with wonderful service. Will be back to try more for sure
OMGeeeeeee! This spot is soooo delicious! The birria or asada are complete hits. The service is efficient and friendly. I love the outside environment. You can watch a classic movie while dining or just chill at the bar. The drinks are also made with love. This was such a great kick back experience is in the heart of downtown. Loved it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing experience at La Calle! The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, but what really made the visit special were the bartenders Tony and Josue. Their service was outstanding — super friendly, attentive, and they made us feel welcome the entire time. Tony makes incredible drinks and always has great recommendations, and Josue made sure everything came out just right. You can tell they both take pride in their work and really care about the guests. If you’re coming to La Calle, definitely grab a seat at the bar — Tony and Josue will make sure you have an awesome time!
Brought a friend to the midtown location who is visiting from Kansas and has never had Birria tacos and Edgar and the staff did not disappoint. From little tasters of margaritas to recommendations on all the street tacos, we feasted and filled our bellies with deliciousness. We opted for the Pineapple mojitos which are oh, so good. If you are in midtown and craving some yumminess, stop by and see Edgar. I know I will definitely be back and my Kansas friend is blown away with the hospitality and yummy, yummy, good, good this incredible city has to offer. Extra points for being dog friendly for my partner in crime. (She also loves the Birria tacos)
This was our first time at La Calle, and it definitely won’t be our last! The food was delicious and full of flavor—fresh, authentic, and made with care. But what really stood out was the service. Edgar was our server, and he was incredibly sweet and attentive with my mom and me. He took the time to explain the menu and made us feel so welcome. It’s always a great feeling when the service matches the quality of the food. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a relaxed vibe and amazing Mexican street food!
Randomly found this place after looking for street tacos while in the area. Cool spot to have a quick bite to eat. I ordered the Chorizo and Chicken Torta. It was decent I would give it a 4 outta 5 just because I’ve had better tortas. My brother order the street tacos with the birria consume. He said the tacos were good, but that the consume made them even better. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.
La Calle Tacos (Midtown) is perfect if you’re looking for tasty, quick Mexican food. Tacos and tortas are great, well-served, but be careful with birria it’s spicy. The vibe is great: outdoor seating, good music, and a chill atmosphere. A solid spot to hit up with friends or grab a quick, satisfying bite solo.
Got a 50% off coupon for a drink so decided to try it again after 3-years. The food is loaded with flavor killing salt and simply uneatable. Sucks because the margs are really good.
What a great location with city vibes and enjoyment of the nightlife on one of Houston's busiest corners. Food is great when needing to sober up after night out on the town. The only exception is that the staff is made up of young professionals that lack bartending experience and relationship management. I witnessed one of the bartenders by the name of Angel that appears to not be consistent when managing customers during the day when I went there right before leaving town for the airport last month. Seems to be a lack understanding of how important client retention is. Then I had another opportunity to be serviced by Toni and Edgar, and they were really nice. Drinks are not the best for the price but the food is good. I have been going there for about a year and there is a guy in the kitchen that goes by the name of Maurice that is cool and another guy in the kitchen that I saw by the name of Alex that doesn't like to smile. All in all its a hit or miss when interacting with staff. If you want to ensure a better experience they have a kiosk on the side that you can order through and get your food at the side window.
Two drinks (a mojito & a small margarita) and two orders of street corn, only one was “special,” and before tip, it was $48. Originally asked for corn on the cob with lots of chili and the “free meat” on the side, because I’ve never had meat on a street corn before. The picture of my margarita was prettier than it actually tasted. It was basically a lime margarita with some chamoy thrown in, garnished with candy and tajin. When our order arrived, my corn was not on the cob and in a cup. When I went back & told them it was supposed to be on the cob, they asked me if I wanted it fixed. Umm, yeah. When the “bartender” came back with my order, he said they were out. Talk about lack of communication. When I went to open the very small cup of corn, it was very “white” looking in the sense that there was a lot of cheese and mayo. It lacked any kind of spice. I had to go back and as more some so that my bland cup of corn had something slightly resembling “street corn.”
I decided to try this location since I’ve been to the Franklin one before and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to my expectations. It took 19 minutes for my food to come out, and when it finally did, it just wasn’t good. I appreciated the free samples and decided to try the beans, but those weren’t great either. The place itself looks inviting—a good spot to hang out, and I noticed they offer bingo and movie nights, which is a nice touch. Still, based on the food and the overall experience, I doubt I’ll be coming back to this location.
2 weeks ago I came and got my toppings on the side but today I was told it wasn’t allowed. 😂 I said please give me a refund. $32.46 for 6 tacos and they have the audacity to say I have to get my toppings on it or not at all Is crazy. It’s too many places in midtown with great tacos to play games.
Would not recommend this place the “manager” who would not give a name, questionable.. would not accommodate less sauce on my food because they were “busy” okay so can I get no sauce? Still was told no… what kind of business rather lose business than accommodate the amount of sauce put on MY food that I will be eating! Just go across the street..
Thiswas SO bad that I didn't even complain. I literally threw it in the trash and bought a second lunch. The two bites of the taco I ate were absolutely REPULSIVE with some gristly fat chewy substance that didn't belong. The tortillas have this remarkably bad after taste. This aftertaste stays with you for hours. Even the smell was breathtaking. I gagged on the gristle. I am 51 years old and I grew up in a city full of Mexican people and I'm quite familiar with Mexican food. Tbis was objectively the worst thing that I have ever put in my mouth. I'm not trying to be mean. If I can spare one innocent human being from eating I will have completed a good deed for the day. It's really that freaking bad. I vomited on the street outside.
