Food is always great, and our server, Jack, was super nice.
Our favorite breakfast place! Everything is always delicious and the coffee cake is a MUST!
When everything goes right!! Friendly happy welcoming staff. Great food and cosy atmosphere all over. My Mexicali burger was perfect. The ice tea was delish. I need to call them and ask what tea they use as I’m a tea snob. The final icing - a big slice of complimentary coffee cake that is the bomb. I’ll be back.
Finally got to Millie's, a local institution. The owner, Victor, greeted us at the door and then made our visit perfect with delectable food, fast, thoughtful service, and a cozy late morning vibe. The famous Millie's coffee cake is as good as it gets; bathed in butter, with cinnamon struesel and a flavorful moist cake. Absolutely delicious. The best part of this restaurant is the chance to talk and share with neighbors, as the atmosphere is friendly, fun and laid-back, with longtime regular customers and newbies like us. Ordered the giant Mason jar of fresh iced tea and the coffee cake and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. We will be back for a big breakfast soon!
Found this when looking for family breakfast places I kind of don't want to make a review because then it would get even busier! We have been twice now and they remembered us which is always a nice feeling. The food was just as good as last time and the service great. Not too cloying just the right level. The kids menus is great and the food is always fresh. I particularly like the Benedict's because they use great eggs. We always have take home so that's dinner sorted! We will be back for sure! Oh bonus you can pay using QR code which I personally love because it's so easy.
I love small family run businesses. They have the warmth and love for the work they do. They never try to cut corners and always attentive. This is was beautiful little diner. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Also have parking space. Menu has good options for breakfast. Have free refills for the coffee. Pancakes were nice and fluffy and were very filling. The Chilaquiles were flavorful and a big portion. The GPV were delicious. Really enjoyed it. Coffee was lovely too. Loved the cozy ambience and would love to come back again.
Great food! Went here for lunch with my family. Service was fairly quick and friendly with helpful suggestions! I got the pulled pork with truffle fries, super tender with great sauce! Other members of the group got the huevos rancheros that had some good steak and guac and another got the chicken fried chicken that was good as well! The kitchen was amenable to the special requests with our food and everything was very good!
The food here is solid; maybe not great enough to write home about, but one likely won't be disappointed. 3.5stars is probably more appropriate. It was a weekday morning (9-ish) between Christmas and New Year's. With only ~8 people inside, the ordering occurred quickly and the food came out equally quickly. Interestingly, they asked people who were arriving to sign up on a sheet outside, when only maybe half the seats/tables inside were occupied. It felt silly, watching it. This might be due to not having enough staff to accommodate more people, and/or allowed them to fit in groups of various sizes to the table sizes available. The current owners (maybe for 2 years now?) bought a local favorite breakfast diner, which was called just 'Millie's Kitchen'. I believe they used to own a previous restaurant 'American Kitchen',' and merged the names. The previous diner aspect reveals itself in the small box of a dining room, with stark white walls and harsh lighting. I believe that the owners were actually working the room that day; he was seating customers and she taking & delivering orders. I've read some of the other reviews here, saying how this isn't as good as the old Millie's. Whatever. Some people also get used to things (even if not that great), and don't handle change well. Of the (assumed) owners, he is a bit serious, sure, which I can see how some people might interpret as unfriendly, and she is bubbly. I didn't take him as unfriendly, just a dude doing his thing. Regardless of all that, the place is what it is NOW, and I think it's a decent place for standard, decently made breakfast fare.
What a cute little find. We love stoping at new places an even more so for eggs benny. Avid eggs benny lover. The staff were remarkable! The place was busy but everyone got seated with in a reasonable time. I’d say best for smaller parties. The coffee cake was absolutely delicious. The OJ. Delicious. The potatoes were yummmmmmmmmmmm yum. The fried chicken on the Benny. Pretty good. Never seen that before. The bennys eggs were cooked to perfection. As least mine were. But both my significant other an I agreed. The sause was a disappointment. It was flat. No flavor. No salt. No taste. No lemon. No butter. Just sadness sauce. I really think if they could perfect that sauce it would be a game changer.
What a trip back into time! This was a regular spot for me to eat breakfast almost 40 years ago! The building is the same but renovated inside and a new outside patio. New ownership has taken over and updated the food and the interior. The two breakfasts were good and the coffees were excellent. I recommend this place for a casual meal - nothing extraordinary!
Well let me put it this way, the food was good, not great. The service was good, not great. The prices were crazy, not great. Four of us with regular breakfasts one OJ and three coffees $108 with tip! Excuse me, what? There was no vibe. It’s a pretty plain little diner. Best news is it’s not a chain restaurant. Just didn’t feel welcome.
I love a good whole in the wall, but one made my wife sick. Maybe wrong kind of grease
I love supporting local businesses and Millie’s used to be my favorite breakfast in Lafayette. It is now so overpriced for the food portions. I went recently ordered an omelette and side of sausage. $30+ for a small omelette, side of fruit, a single piece of toast and a side of sausage that came with two links for $6. Yes $3 each. lol. Really amazing. No drink was ordered. Felt robbed despite the wonderful service. The food was good too. I don’t mind paying that price if the food matches. This did not. Hope they rethink their shrinkflation approach. Won’t be going back any time soon.
Meh. I used to hear amazing things about this place until the ownership changed and the whole building looked different. Not only is the building now quite ugly, the experience is also below average. I ended up going here several times with friends and family, not by choice, and the quality of food was never consistent. Service wasn't consistent either. You'll probably interact with other patrons here more than you will with who I assume is the owner.
Never tried the food here never will !!! The owner and his snobby attitude ! I was dashing an he taps my shoulder an tells me “ you can wait outside it’s too small “ mind you no one was hardly in the restaurant and I made a face of confusion and he says “ I don’t need a stink eye this is my restaurant I can do what I want “ WHAT A WAY TO TREAT SOMEONE. Mind you , all I was doing was door dashing !
Horrible service, I went to get a Pick-up I said the Customer's name and I already knew it was READY because I had already received 2 messages from the App, the attendant simply LIE saying that it is NOT ready, and takes 2 Pick-up for 2 REGULAR Customers who arrived AFTER me, after he made me wait FOR NO REASON, simply takes the Food that was already Ready BEFORE I Arrived
Wow. So disappointed. This used to be such a Lafayette classic and has deteriorated into a sad, overpriced, dull place. From tough pancakes to bland French toast to split hollandaise sauce, it was laughable. The only saving grace was the coffee cake given to us as a freebie. I think they know the rest of the food is bad enough that the coffee cake represents an apology of sorts. They also added an automatic 20% "large party" tip- there were only 5 of us, LOL! Save yourself and find breakfast elsewhere.
