Fun and lively atmosphere on a Saturday night, including a live band. I sat at the bar, had the fish and chips, and enjoyed the party around me. The staff are friendly and the food was excellent. It’s a perfect place to escape the Gaylord next door.
We were seated right away. The hostess and waitress were friendly and attentive to our party of 5. We sat by the window looking out at the water. The waitress was very busy and still managed her tables quickly and efficiently. We are going back next week with two of our friends who have not dined there. We are going to order the fish and chips.
Had a great time and the Sports Bar is amazing. Huge screens! Great food and the draft beer choices are the best. A lot of local San Diego brewery beers on tap!
Been here multiple times now, with others and alone, and always seated myself outside. The food is excellent, and the staff are friendly. I have yet to need to chase the server for any service. Seating outside has a nice view of the dock and boats, as well as people walking about. Noise varied entirely on the other clientele. Inside may be a bit noiser, and they have bands playing music at times. Plan your seating accordingly. Also, they have the best fish and chips. Give them a try, thank me later.
The overall experience at this restaurant was outstanding. From the start, staff created a friendly and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the meal. The menu included a wide range of delicious options, making it easy to find something appealing. Each dish tasted fresh and was served quickly, arriving warm and well-presented. The flavors were consistent and satisfying, clearly reflecting attention to detail in preparation. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and drinks were kept full throughout. The atmosphere was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Every aspect of the visit was positive, making this a restaurant worth revisiting often.
I stayed at the Gaylord Resort and decided to try this place across the street. Nice scenic walk to the marina/pier/shore. Great customer service (Sirenia)! I had the Steak w/gorgonzola cream sauce-excellent! Clam chowder was okay. I'd definitely come back! Recommend making reservations! It picks up after 6pm
Beautiful ocean views and great seafood at The Galley! We started with the ahi tuna poke, and for entrees had the mango mahi and surf and turf skewers. We loved sitting on the dog friendly patio with a great view of the pier. The severs are all very friendly. We had to wait about 25 minutes for our table on a Saturday afternoon and the food took a bit of time to come out, but the environment makes up for it. Recommend!
Me and my honey ate here today for our 3rd yr anniversary. It was really nice atmosphere. They had heaters. Service from Kassandra was amazing! She complimented my new kicks! She provided high quality service and the meal was amazing! - portion size was big! A good thing me and my man were sharing cus my tummy couldn't handle anymore! 😆💛🍰Keep up good work!
We were in the area for our anniversary. We arrived on a day there was live music. Louis the bartender was great and did his best to help everyone as it was very busy due to the live band. We enjoyed the place so much that we ended up changing plans and had our anniversary dinner there a couple of days later on a Monday night. It was quiet at the restaurant this time, food is not too expensive (and they seem to have daily specials if on a very tight budget) and the view of the bay at sunset is fantastic. Only thing I'd recommend is that they invest in some higher quality chairs/tables for the outdoor seating. Great place!
Staying at the Gaylord Pacific and this is the only off site restaurant in walking distance. There is a sign to see the hostess for a seat but no one seated us and a group leaving told us they had to seat themselves. We noticed the waiter was alone and he was spread too thin. He was real nice and did what he could to keep up. We blame the management for not having the staff to run a decent restaurant. We got our food 5 minutes before our drinks and the kid’s water. The fish and chips were good, I got a good amount of fish and the fries were pretty good. My wife was happy with her chicken quesadilla and my son liked his poke. The clam chowder was so-so. All in all it was good because of the waiter, the location and some pretty good food, if there was competition, I would pass.
My first time there tonight. A beautiful setting for a restaurant to have. Plenty of parking. We were offered inside or outside, I suggest outside. Inside has elevated tables and the bar. Patio is lower tables and views. Our waitress Alexandria arrived in 5 min. (Not bad) and promptly asked to take our food order. It's been a long time since a waitress just bypassed the drink order and started with food. Lol. Food arrived via food runners and is as seen here. The $32 blackened Salmon was a bit dry and the plate soaked in butter. The $20 burger was not the meat of a $20 burger. It was meat of a $9 burger with a harbor view. The fries were surprisingly good though. The $18 grilled shrimp were tasty and also butter soaked. Not bad. I don't think we would have ever seen our waitress again if the food runners didn't remind her we had no silverware for our food plates. After that, not till we requested our check. It looks like they have live music, comedy and karaoke. I would try it again because we live nearby but I wouldn't drive a long way to give the second shot. Family of 3, $83.00
This is a great location for a seafood restaurant. Every outside table has a view of the Marina. We got the Fish and Chips. The coleslaw was a bit heavy on the mayonnaise, but was still good. The crispy fries exceeded our expectations, and were very good. The fish was fresh, light, and fluffy, and perfectly coated in a light tempura batter. Excellent! It's the best we've ever had. The only negative of the dining experience was the 4% surcharge on the bill. Minus one star. It would be better and more transparent to just increase your prices by 4% and not add it on to the end like a resort fee on a hotel.
Band we saw was great. Food was good. Service was bad. Not the servers fault. Management needs to hire more servers. Left a white shopping bag with a pair of sandals inside Sunday. Went back Monday no bag in lost in found.
Okay, I'll start with the pros. The food is always excellent and the scenery is fantastic. But that's where the good ends. They REALLY need to do a better job cleaning. The tables, chairs, condiment bottles, and menus always feel greasy, sticky and just gross. Also, we went there on 10/4/25 around 4:30pm before it got too busy and our waitress (initials were S. D.) didn't come to check on us the entire time we ate. She came when we were almost done and asked if we wanted boxes and the check. No drink refills, didn't ask if we needed anything else. Nothing. Very off putting. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We were over it. Will probably be a while before we go back, if at all.
I honestly have no idea how this place has a 4.3 rating. Too much batter on the fish and chips. The (chicken) nachos was like microwaved cheese melted on the chips. And they switched regular nachos with my chicken nachos with a different table, so I had to ask about the chicken after getting the nachos, and then the chicken was REALLY dry. Not a lot of seasoning to it either. The server seemed like she had wayyyy too many tables. She wasn't bad, she was just really busy and doing too much. They had live music which is fine. But the atmosphere is definitely for the older, older generations. It did have a nice view and shading for the outside patio, which was the best part. On food alone, I won't be back. San Diego has too many options to go to this mediocre place.
11.30.25 great Sunday night. Sunset live band and fish and chips. Great service. 04.24 tried again today did was very good! 12.24 update- fish and chips were the best we've had yet! Been coming here once or twice a month. Service had been much better in the past, food was wrong for two of us, fish was really undercooked and fishy tasting this time. Beautiful location and atmosphere, BUT: Prices up! food quality and service getting worse. Probably be a while before we come back. Great food tonight, completely understaffed though. Waited in limbo no one checked on us had to go find the server! One server-poor guy. 07.14.25
What a shame. Better pack a lunch. We had high expectations but ended up leaving. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes and never saw our server. As we were walking out, we mentioned this to the hostess, who replied without any concern, “Ok, I’ll let them know.” We ended up eating across the street at The Grawler inside the Gaylord instead. Probably won’t be going back, though they likely wouldn’t care anyway.
For decades, our family has come to the Galley for anything from a quick lunch, a date night, or to watching my Uncle perform with his band on the patio. Today, we had family visiting from out of State and this was their last day, so we decided to have a meet up for lunch at the Galley. My elderly mother and I got there first and noticed a group already gathered out front waiting. I put our name in, they gave us an approximate wait time of 30-35 minute wait for first available. The hostess informed us with a tone like she would rather have us leave than burden her with another table to seat .. EVEN THOUGH THEY WEREN'T BUSY! I've seen this place packed before, with people standing, every table full, and we got quicker and friendlier service! The rest of our family arrived about 20 minutes later. Not a single name was called to be seated in that entire time... None of the people waiting ahead of us had been seated. There were plenty of empty tables inside and outside. EMPTY TABLES. I would say I saw maybe 11 tables of people who were actually being served food. The rest of the restaurant was EMPTY. NONE OF THE PEOPLE WAITING HAD BEEN CALLED TO BE SEATED. NOT A SINGLE ONE. Our family members went several times to find what was going on and why it was taking so long, and no one was even available to answer us or provide reasoning for the long wait. The hostess was MIA. We ended up leaving, because if you can't at least seat us and bring us some waters or even be there to answer our questions about the wait, then I'm pretty sure actually ordering and getting food would be impossible and just another reason to leave a crappy review. There were probably over 20-30 tables available. But we got to sit out front, waiting to just be seated. I'm assuming this was probably because of a staffing shortage, but anyone in Customer Service should have a policy or system in place to accommodate your patrons when there is going to be a long wait. A table with a heater, maybe some waters and some bread until a waiter/ waitress could take our order would have fixed this problem... we would have at least been able to sit at a table together and socialized but nope.. empty tables were not available to us. Service with a smile and basic information was not on the menu today between 1:30pm and 2:15pm. Shame on the Galley. They completely LOST an entire family who has been coming for decades. It was THAT BAD! There's no excuse for what happened today!
