I order online on Taco Tuesday. The last few times, they didn’t include all the condiments I ordered… salsa missing twice, forgot to put cheese once.
We were in California for a wedding and had to return my rental tuxedo nearby so we checked to see what was good to eat. We found this Mexican place had good reviews so we figured that is what we should try. Initially I thought, ok this is good, I would say 4 stars as the food is fresh and tastes better than most Mexican places back on the East coast. I would go back but nothing that would make me say it's a must. Then I after the food, I went and got the tres leches cake. Well that changed my mind to think of this place as a 5 star place that I would definitely come back too. Unfortunately we can't as we are in the East coast, but if you are thinking about it, then check it out and get the tres leches. Plenty of parking and seating indoors and outdoors too.
Had a burrito and chicken bowl. The burrito was decent but they wrapped it so loosely it fell apart after two bites. All meats are served cafeteria style out of warmed containers so nothing is hot. My wife enjoyed her bowl but thought it no better than chipotle
Great food especially on taco Tuesday. Tables were dirty. I asked for cheese on my taco but employee preparing my taco said there was cheese on it. I guess she duct take in consideration I wanted more cheese. Tables were dirty. They had an older Latina lady with glasses just talking instead of wiping the Tables first. I also asked her to refill horchats drink and never did, she refilled another drink instead.
The food was good but what everyone was noticing the ladies behind counter were all sweating up a storm and that was making a few of us a little apprehensive about ordering. That was just the few minutes in line while I was there. The one poor lady kept wiping her brow while making my burrito. She was good at keeping it from falling on my food. But whoever runs the place needs to help these ladies out and keep it cooler back there. We were about to leave and not order.
Cafe Rio has been a spot I've been going to for over a decade. I love the freshness of everything especially homemade tortillas, but the price has gone way up and get less. The quality of food is getting generic tasting. Everything taste the same. I got the bowl this time it is alot of food. To much to finish
Taco Tuesday's are a decent deal, they recently stopped supporting military and first responders on Tuesday by not combining deals which is a bummer. We used to visit weekly, but the price has gone up while the service has gone down. The sweet pork tacos and nino quesadillas are delicious.
Seems dirty. Girl making food was hard to understand. Queso was watery. And apparently they don't accept receipts for free dessert anymore. But... "They'll let me this once"??? Annoying. I have at least eight more at home that say GOOD FOR FREE DESSERT. There were NO strawberries on the tres leche and NO lime with the key lime pie. (Discovered those were missing after getting them home.) They only had whipped cream on them because I prompted her it was missing when she handed me the plain beige desserts. ("You don't have whipped cream today?" I asked. "Let me see" she answered.) Might not be going to Cafe Rio anymore if they don't honor their word.
We come to this restaurant frequently and my kids were excited all day for tacos and horchata. All 7 of us walked in the door at 6pm to be greeted by a sign at the counter (not on the entry door) that they were not accepting walk in customers. We were completely ignored by the staff despite it being clear we weren’t there for takeout. The idea that I could stand there in the restaurant and do an order on their app but not order at the counter is insanity. We weren’t the only potential customers to arrive at the store to walk away and find another solution for dinner.
SUCKS terrible service and didn't even have half of the food stuff ridiculous if you're going to get anything that's actually on the menu you'll be disappointed
Food is great but service is extremely slow. The food prep area is a total mess. Dining area is messy and trash bins overflowing. Bathrooms are a mess with standing water on the floor. This is a chronic issue at this location—not an isolated incident. Aren’t you embarrassed?
Most people know this place is expensive, but the food is good, so it’s somewhat worth it. I was here on Friday and the weekday staff were wonderful—very hospitable. However, the weekend staff today were extremely rude, which was disappointing. I felt rushed while ordering and forgot items because of the pressure. One employee had a visible attitude, and the overall service was poor. I’m considering calling to speak with a manager. I won’t be coming back on weekends again—weekday service is much better.
I have been to Cafe Rios in multiple states now and nearly everyone in Southern California. I will not be returning to this one. The staff here does not seem to enjoy it at all - definitely unlike every other location. I will stick to my Huntington location.
My family and I came here to get a quick bite to eat. They said they ran out of tortillas for burritos so they said they need to make fresh ones. 40mins later still nothing. We have other things to do so we had to leave. Really disappointed a grill had no tortillas or more staff to help wirh the low staff. Who ever owns this establishment has to hire more people. I don't blame any of the workers. The workers have to work in these unrealistic conditions. I definitely blame management and they need to fix this. Either get someone to streamline ingredient prep or hire more workers. Very disappointed I hope no one else has to wait almost an hour just for tortillas.
My wife and I visited this location yesterday, and while in line we noticed a bunch of spider webs and dust on the wall above where they start taking your ordered. While I was standing right in front of the big round tortilla grill we noticed that there were dust grease balls falling from the vent right above to the tortilla grill (pretty disgusting) and particles where landing on the large tortillas and the bowls. This is considered and health hazard and she be taken very seriously.
