Stunning tasting menu!! We absolutely loved our dinner at Pidgin as have wanted to go for years! It's incredibly impressive that the menu changes every week as every bite was a delight. The ambiance is excellent as it felt very intimate and cozy. Service was also brilliant, our waitress explained all the dishes beautifully. Can't wait to go again and try out a new menu on another week!
Gastronomic creativity at its very best. Each dish is an experiment, sometimes works like heaven, sometimes it lacks something but every time it takes you on a journey of discovery, always surprising you. The bread is simply exceptional, and the chicken liver parfait that goes with it is so light. The cheese mousse desert is so unique and tasty! We also really enjoyed the crumble with the amaretto mousse, so delicious and fresh. The whole meal was like a summery walk in a park. Our only tiny negative was on the truffle shaved chicken and cabbage which needed a twist or a sauce, but as mentioned this is all part of experimentation and the daily menus that constantly adapt. Thank you Pidgin!!!
Absolutely fantastic place. The evening we were here it was during the heatwave which slightly took away from the pleasure of dining here as it was very warm in the small place. The decor is very nice and intimate. The staff is very attentive and thoughtful. The food is great and impressive that they haven’t served the same dish twice yet! The plates are wonderfully presented and very tasty. The only comment would be that the portions are slightly small.
Came here tonight, finally, after many envious looks through the window for my birthday. One word needed, Amazing! This place wonderful little establishment couldn’t do anything to improve the experience. Food is fantastic, and if you’re on the fence for wine pairings - don’t be - do it! Fantastic service from a team who really know how to look after you and who really know both their menu and supporting wine list inside out. A great treat, highly recommend!
Outstanding. Excellent food and service. Were given quite a few tasty treats in addition to the set menu. Well priced for this sort of affair. Good music. Makes me laugh that people take off a star for the high prices - firstly its good value - and secondly you know how much it costs before you order.
We had a really amazing meal here for our anniversary. The staff were really knowledgable and attentive but not intrusive at all. At one point I dropped my fork and within minutes a waitress had appeared as if from nowhere and given me a clean one. Everything we ate was delicious and beautiful. We will definitely be back!
This establishment offers a relaxed atmosphere that is ideal for catching up with friends. The selection of wines and dishes encourages diners to take their time and appreciate each bite and sip. The dedication to quality ingredients is evident both in conversations with knowledgeable staff and in the flavors of the food itself, which appears meticulously prepared. The menu is refreshed regularly to offer a unique dining experience on each visit. The current menu, drawing inspiration from Greek cuisine and complemented by wine pairings from the Balkans and the Mediterranean, showcases a thoughtful and passionate approach to culinary creation. Serving sizes and the timing of the meal service are well-judged, ensuring a balanced and unhurried dining experience. Given the quality of the offerings, the pricing is reasonable. The restaurant prioritizes a genuine dining experience over simply providing a meal, allowing guests the luxury of enjoying both their food and their companions without feeling pressured. This approach underscores a commitment to serving food as it is meant to be experienced.
Incredible meal overall! I don’t think the snacks add much value to the menu tbh but the fish was nice. The 4 course menu was great, my favourite was the 3rd course and dessert. We went for the wine pairing which was nicely matching the food. But if you’re picky with wines then maybe not, I wasn’t fan of the dessert wine and was hoping they’d change that for me but they were not flexible with that. Other than that, fav experience and we will be back!
Want to try the restaurant which never repeats a dish. Really beyond my expectations. It’s amazing if they present food consistently great as today. ( it’s my first time. So I am not sure about other nights). The chefs did an amazing job being creative and cooking delicious food. Everything was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. The atmosphere was light and cozy, suitable for daring night. Ohhh… All the fundamental things are perfect: bread, brown butter, pickles, beef…
Great meal, in cosy surroundings with lovely manager. Well worth a visit. Expect £75+ per head though.
The food was smart and tasty, for me the wine pairing was absolutely flawless. Great experience:)
Fantastic food! A little out of the way but definitely worth the trip. Great service too guys
Great food, wine, setting and service. 1 set course meal per evening so worth checking in advance what is offered, but food quality was amazing so you won't be disappointed.
This is a must-visit. Does a set tasting menu that changes weekly - great food, cute surroundings and friendly staff.
Fantastically creative menu with total attention to detail! Every dish had something special going on, with ingredients that I found harmonised within and throughout courses. There are very talented chefs here, and our waiters were friendly and helpful. I was possibly expecting Pidgin to be over-hyped but I was proven wrong. Definitely worth a visit.
Pidgin is super small and therefore nice and cozy. Food is delicious, well presented and served exactly when it needs to be served. You don't feel rushed eating or like you have to wait for your next dish.
Outstanding. Great venue, vibe & service. The drinks were excellent and the food was simply brilliant. Absolute must visit and a gem of east London! 💎
Superb restaurant. The quality of the food and the inventiveness of the menu makes it an essential visit for a special occasion, or simply to try out one of London's best restaurants. The weekly menu is a creative concept, whilst even what seemed like simple dishes blew us away with the flavour there. Already planning when to go back.
Finally got to eat here. Worth the wait, worth the hype worth everything it’s fabulous. Go. Every course was memorable.
A great discovery for us - the food is stunning, amazing textures and a rich set of flavours in all courses, this place made number one on my list of restaurants in London.
If you want taste sensation mixed with a lovely atmosphere you need to put Pidgin on your go to list! Its weekly changing menu delighted my friends and I with 7 fantastic courses! There is an option to pair each course with wine but we decided to share two bottles of this brilliant Occhipinti.
Tiny place but food here is always nice. Dishes are changing every week.
amazing food, very creative combinations of flavours, thoroughly enjoyed it
Amazing menu, delicious food. Really cool experience
Have been going here with my partner since the place opened in 2005. We've celebrated birthdays and brought friends and family... the food was always been top drawer. Excited to hear that ater 411 weekly menus and no repeat dishes (🤯) they're moving on to a different project (à la carte) in the same space. Best of luck to Sesta!
This is a great place and we enjoyed the whole experience. There is a set menu, of superbly cooked and presented dishes, that changes weekly, there are wines by the glass and by the bottle and the whole place has a lovely ambience. If I had one criticism, it would be of the seating, which is a little austere, but otherwise I can't fault it. You can dine for £75 a head but wine does push up the overall bill. We felt it was well worth it and I was particularly pleased with the pairing of desert wines by the glass, which went down a treat. Well done Pidgin!
Lovely place! The staff were lovely and accommodating with our requests ahead of time and the food was so well presented, almost too good to eat! The meal was fabulous and I tried things I would normally steer clear of, I love a good tasting menu. Highly recommended.
A few months ago I had dinner at Pidgin and was really disappointed with some bland and really odd dishes, and teensy tiny portions. I contacted the restaurant to let them know we had had a bad experience and they invited me back to try again and have a better experience. We picked a new date at random and last night had an amazing meal. Highlights were an artichoke dish that might be one of the best things I've ever eaten, and roast beetroot that pleased my beetroot hating partner! We had the wine pairing and the wines were all beautiful, we even asked to take a picture of the bottle of one of them as it was so delicious. The team were so welcoming and accommodating and I'd recommend going and if you're not happy just speak to the team. Only thing I would caveat is that this is not a restaurant to go and eat the classics, some dishes are experimental but you're going here to try something brand new!
We booked a table of 4 a few days in advance for a Friday night. This was a birthday event for my brother in law. The restaurant is easy to get to and in a nice and quite little street. We were helped the moment we walked in and the space was clean The tasting menu together with the wine pairing coat around 110 pounds each. The meals were all delicious but like many of these restaurants I left hungry. That said, it was a great experience, great wine, good food and service. Just not personally my style, although my guests did enjoy it. They were very accommodating to my gluten intolerance which was great.
The restaurant was superb, the staff even more-so. One of them, a moustache I'd gentleman aspiring himself to Salvador Dali, extrovert in the extreme, entertainment on a stick, as the saying goes! Plus fantastic descriptions of all the ingredients contained in each of the separate meals. The 6Courses for £40pp which is is a good deal and each course was wonderful. My single gripe would be that all the food wasn't the right temperature, most were just tepid whereas I like mine piping hot! All the same the flavours were perfect. There were four of us dining, two being vegetarian, all of us were wonderfully happy with their meals, who wouldn't be! Wine pairing was available but we just had a single bottle and myself small bottles of local lager. The dessert was to die for, perfect finish to a perfect experience. I can't recall whether there was any music playing, I think not! A good sign as the atmosphere didn't need it, we were comfortable just being there, we didn't need music, just happy to be together in an enjoyable restaurant. Lots of couples, possibly having romantic meals together. At approx £75/head it wasn't expensive at all. We will all be very happy to return again. I used to love in Dalston 40years ago, it has changed but for the better I would say.
Great service and the wine pairing and explanations were done really well. The first and second course out of the 5 were amazing. Only criticism would be that we weren’t full when we left and for £200 (menu + wine pairing + cocktail + extra bread) you should be full. At this price point they should add another course. Overall would recommend to anyone, but advise they eat a big lunch.
Not bad, food was ok nothing special but nothing disappointing. If you like your meat slightly more cooked, make sure to tell them as the beef is more on the medium rare with the cod pink in the middle. It's a small place with tables close to one another at the back so ask for a table closer to the window.
Overall an interesting culinary experience despite poor service. The highlight of the menu was definitely the dessert. Unfortunately the pasta in the second course, a 3 ravioli dish with a slice of tuna, was undercooked (see photo) which completely ruined the dish. In addition, service was poor. Nobody asked us or showed any interest in whether we were enjoying our meal (a fairly standard practice that one would expect at any restaurant). We also got no feedback after pointing out that the pasta was undercooked. Given the price, I would not recommend the restaurant as I feel a decent level of service should have been provided to ensure an overall decent experience.
Disappointing experience. We had read so many excellent reviews from Pidgin that we went full of excitement and hope. Unfortunately the food did not live to our expectations. Even though it was a 9 step menu we left the restaurant quite hungry. From all those 9 dishes there were only 2 we were happy about and even on those there were elements that were not great. As the menu changes every week it's quite difficult to leave a review that could be useful for future customers. The prawn/yuzu/courgette was good, specially the prawn bisque but the way food was cut and presented in a bowl it was very difficult to eat with a spoon as every bit got stuck to the plate. The pork cheek was very tasty but the crackling was a bit chewy. The brownie was overcooked and it was more like a cake as even the center was sponge like...
