Food excellent. Amazing venue. Shame about a grumpy guy serving. The waitress was lovely. Service a bit slow, so don't be in a hurry.

Food was wonderful, I had the hake with squash and polenta which worked really well. Lovely space and service was great

Small menu allows them to think carefully about every ingredient, attention to detail is excellent. We've been here about 12 times since before we got married here 2 years ago. The fish is always excellent, as are the imaginative desserts. Also, if there's a tatare or other raw meat dish on the menu (as there often is) it will uniformly be excellent. Superb cooking for excellent value. Bravo!

I have been 3 times and it's never disappointed. The place serves really good food at a very reasonable price. The food isn't fancy, just very well done. Nicely presented in a pleasant setting. The restaurant is housed in a town hall, which gives it character and differentiate it. I can't wait to go back.

I love the simplistic ambiance with the wood throughout giving a sense of warmth, the generous supply of sunlight during daytime and the unusual decor of peculiar lamps. Since I've only stopped by for their lunch deals, it'd be really interesting to see them alight at night and I intend on doing this as soon as possible. Food is always excellent - freshly prepared strange and delightful combinations that always surprise me in a most pleasant way. The prices are great for the quality of the food, as well. It's not a place for big groups gatherings and I enjoy having my lunch in peace here.

Happened upon this place today whilst looking for a lunch spot and loved it. It's on the first floor, up the marble staircase as you enter the hotel. Really lovely space, really bright and airy. The waitress was lovely, the food was really well made and delicious. I gather the options change quite regularly though. It also drew my attention to the hotel itself and the building, which is full of great little details for design fans.

The food is excellent and very much quality over quantity, with the portions bordering upon meagre (one should not have to leave a restaurant still hungry after having had 3 courses). Yet it's a stunning space – check out the adjacent rooms – with a lovely ambiance, and is surprisingly inexpensive, hence the 5 stars. Definitely worth a visit.

Very impressed with corner room. We arrived early to get a table, so had time to chill with cocktails. Staff were very helpful ran though all the intricacies of the menu. This is a place for foodies. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into each ingredient, the combinations are incredible. It's Very reasonable too!

I can't speak highly enough of the tasting menu with wine. At £75pp it's incredible value and the food really is fantastic. The Corner Room has a relaxed atmosphere, so it's great if you want to have an excellent meal without the pretence of some of the Michelin star equivalents.

Small and consistently good restaurant. Criminally under patronised. Never had a bad meal here, and if I don't know where to go for a good meal, the corner room has always been a good bet. Doesn't have a specific theme for its food, but has a changing menu with reasonable prices that has never disappointed.

Fantastic space with great food. Sharing plates with a variety of dishes and carefully selected drinks menu. The design of the restaurant itself is quite nice and modern. The hotel also appears to be quite well designed and modern. Highly recommended.

We had a set menus for an event. I tried both white and red wine. They were both nice. The starter was a selection of fresh vegetables with two types of dips. Chicken with butter beans was very soft and tasty. The waiter and waitress were very friendly and welcoming. The corner room is a great venue for a small dinner party.

Unbelievable value - £30 3 course meal and aperitif through OpenTable. We were expecting a smaller set menu and premixed cocktail...really surprised by how fantastic this deal was. The service at the Corner Room was perfect - very warm and friendly. The host could not have been more accommodating - allowed us to choose any drink included in the fixed price as well as the ability to mix and match courses. Really delicious food - steak was very good and the puddings were exceptional. We will definitely be back.

Delicious sharing plates, every dish was unique and full of flavour. Interesting textures and dish selection. Little but good wine choices. The interior is beautiful, it’s full of plants by grace and thorn! The service is very nice and polite. Highly recommended! Will definitely be back.

This meal was just incredible. By the end I ended up trying all the dishes. The staff was very friendly and the space is beautifully designed. I look forward to the next time I can swing by here. If you are a meat eater, you will be very happy. Make room for dessert.

Lovely setting, intimate and cosy with staff that aren't overbearing. We had a set menu that was reasonably priced for the quality of food. Will definitely return!

Amazing experience and delicious food! I highly recomend the pork belly. Beautifully served by the chef. Each dish is a work of art! Be sure to visit the hotel is lovely!

Have been twice now and both times received excellent warm service and unbelievable food. A hidden gem in the undisclosed building.

Excellent menu. Delicious small plates. Loved the cod cheeks and the potatoes with raclette cheese and lardo were something else! Incredibly helpful staff (we had our 5 week old daughter with us on Valentine's Day and they made it work!), stunning building, and the restaurant itself is cosy and pretty.

This small and romantic East London restaurant deserves no less than 5 stars. A dinner tasting menu at budget prices which is no less impressive than any Michelin establishment I have visited in London in terms of sensitivity, plating and inventiveness. An elegant venue with attentive, amiable staff and inspiring food. This place is a must.

Wonderful food at an amazing location. We ordered (in advance) the set menu, which was very thought out, delicious, and relatively cheap (30gbp for a 3 course meal). The setting, inside an old town hall was also something very special, just outside the restaurant, there's a (somewhat) abandoned court house, that we encourage you to visit.

I have been here quite a few times for dinner. In spite of the no reservation policy it was always easy to get a table mid week. If there was a wait they have a great lounge Food is stellar for the money. £21 for lunch a la carte, anyone? Simple ingredients perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. This is reminiscent of Viajante downstairs. Luckily portions are more substantial so three courses are more than enough. Highly recommended.

Edit: wow that was one of best desserts I ever had!!! Ok I am not known for getting overexcited about the so called "cool" places. But this is cool, the waiter was great and the food super tasty. Prices (although haven't got the final bill yet) are reasonable. The duck parfait on waffle quite tasty and smooth, was worried would be sweet but thankfully wasn't. Lamb ribs were wonderfully tender and really well cooked with a great chargrilled finish. Squid was a chefs favourite and the sauce was ok but I am not a fan of squid. Egg raviola actually had an egg in it, not sure why I was surprised, but tasted great and the sauce was near gravy like lovely. Finally the steak came with sweet corn, a massively underutilized vegetable (?) In fine dining and my favourite, but the steak was really well done as well. Overall all pretty awesome. I guess might be out of the way for some but I would say food way better than bistroteque but it's closer to the station. I think this is my first real 5 star review (I should downgrade the others)!

An absolute treasure: - Incredible food taking classic European food and addinga variety of twists (spice, asian, special ingredients) - Impeccable service - Amazing casual cool space - Portions that lend themselves both to sharing and to more traditional multi-course dining - Great wines and cocktails Menu changes daily or weekly so enjoy the surprise! Do not miss this place - it is going to have a big reputation soon

Staff were very helpful, esp Jessica who tuned in to what we wanted. Each choice in food and wine menu were tempting. The mussels, the custard tart, and the honeycomb icecream were exceptional. Small space very tastefully decorated. Hidden gem and a real treat.

Very good food, had the tasting menu. AMAZING service. Our waiter was super-lovely and we had a lovely chat about wines. Highly recommend, esp for special occasions or foodies.

Excellent atmospheric little restaurant serving very modern food. On our visit staff were excellent despite it being very busy and with a wedding going on in other parts of the building, when there was a slight delay getting to our table they gave us champagne, and the kitchen accommodated some extra requests easily and with no extra charge.

We had the set menu and every dish was super . The waiter serving us was attentive, affable and knowledgeable. The venue is fantastic. Definitely a new fave

It's been a while since the last time I've been to a restaurant, and I was exclaiming "this is so good!" after every single bite. Yes, I loved it -especially the roasted scallops. Good service, nice environment but it is the food that counts and it is amazing.

Inventive dishes, good wine selection (we had a delicious Moroccan red) at affordable prices (£14 for a main). The restaurant is within the historic and stylish old town hall hotel. Great place for a date night.

Interesting interior decoration. The beef tartare was tasty. Food is presented well.

Very well made food, with fine ingredients, but lacking panache. This level of cuisine can be found many places at these prices and this restaurant needs something to set it apart. The hotel itself is very interesting and has many stories to tell, and the decor of the restaurant reflects this but it isn't cozy, as the name would suggest, nor is it romantic. The waiting staff are attentive and clued in, they made us feel welcome and looked after. The wine list is short and you have to get up around the £60 mark for something nice.

Amazing little place. It is so nicely decorated, that you don't want to leave once you've stepped through the threshold. It seems like the place has it's own story to tell. The interior is a combination of modern and urban styles. Maybe the most memorable thing about it are all the lights hanging from the ceiling on cords with different lengths. You can have a lovely launch here, and I think it is appropriate for meetings. Although the food isn't something really amazing, it's still quite satisfying. They take time to decorate your dishes making them really fancy and I felt guilty for devouring my good-looking meal. The staff are all very polite and welcoming. Overall another good restaurant in the area, that deserves a visit.

Liked the set menu, desserts in particular. After the dinner you fell full and satisfied, even if the single dishes could look small. The setting is very nice, the Town Hotel is impressive with its 1950s kind of look; service in this particular occasion was kind of weird, but funny have to say. Would like to go back and give it another try, the only thing I did not appreciate was the bottle of wine without the cork: looks pretty cheap for a £30+ bottle.

What an absolute beaut of a hidden gem. This restaurant, tucked away on the first floor of the Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel. We tried a range of dishes which were absolute delightful. We were left to our devices a little bit, but our waiter was wonderfully cheery and knowledgable! Must make plans to go back.

Very nice decoration, comfortable seating and a very creative and qualitative address. it's a very nice spot, not to be neglected.

Located inside the town hall hotel which has a grand atmosphere and also hosts the more upmarket restaurant Viajante. Went a few times and had the "cod porridge" which is fantastic but only for the adventurous. Service is good, staff knowledgeable and wine selection is great. It is possible to book for lunch and they are often full for the walk in dinner so make sure you have a back up plan!

I considered the Typing room as it seemed the swankier choice. But looked at photos and menu choices and decided to go for The Corner. Please always put this baby in this corner! Such nice veggie 'roast' - it was veg and potatoes in some circle type presentation. It did look too amazing - just nice - but the tasted awesome. I've stayed the hotel a couple of times too and always like the calm vibe. The pool is great and often empty too. The court room is hilarious for photo ops'. Just wish the house dog wasn't so depressed and a little neglected 😔

The restaurant can be a little difficult to find, but it was quite an adventure to find it as well. My friend and I both got starters and mains. My starter was great, and it had me excited for my main. My main course of beef, however, had a problem. It was underseasoned. I tried to flag down the server, but she was too busy to notice me for a bit. Once I managed to get some salt, my beef was cold. The dish itself was nice and cheap, so, it is worth going to again. Its cheap, good, and the only real issue is not enough servers on the floor. If you live in the East side, go. Its a wonderful place outside of central London

Nice dining room. Our bread had a long hair in one of the slices and the gluten free bread was just two slices of partially toasted bread that looked shop bought. The main dishes were fine but the flavours were a bit bland, perhaps due to ingredients not being up to standard - for example the buratta with figs, the cheese wasn't creamy and fruit bland. The sole with gnocchi and mushrooms, however, was fantastic.

5 course set menu. starter had fish on it (anchovy?) which was not mentioned on menu, we thought this was odd but carried on. Beef was great, but this is hard to mess up Jerusalem artichoke ice cream with fig and brown sugar - ice cream as a discussion point as it tasted as good as it sounds. Better to smother it in something else than taste on its own. Service was OK. Disappointed as I was expecting much...

I would like and I could give a 5 star review, but not for yesterday. The place looks stunning, simple and unique with a clear identity. The lady who was serving us was super nice and made the experience as personal as it has to be. One of the reasons I am giving 3 starts is that 2 of the three the starter's lacked creativity and generosity in portions (from the salad with tomato, cucumber and pine nuts and the burata, courgetes, fried cheackpeas and green sauce I was expecting better). That said, what influenced my rating was the super slow service! We ordered bread and butter 3 times and all the three times it took them 15 minutes to bring. We ordered the last one whe the mains arrived and it came after we finished. Also the mains arrived soooo much later than the starters. We were super hungry and to he honest this is really something that can ruin your dinner. The mains were very tasty (I had the salmon) and the vegetables were unexpectedly delicious! The dessert as well, simple and great. The price was quite reasonable I must admit. If they have tried a bit harder with the starters and more importantly if they were not sooooo slow, I would give them 5/5! If you have plenty of time and you are patient, you should give it a try. It worths it.

Pros: nice and cozy atmosphere and friendly staff Cons: the food looks nice but taste was a bit disappointing. Scallops smells fishy (not fresh). Hope other seasonal menu would be better

Came here because the food/ deco looks so nice, unique vibe. The deco didn’t disappoint when arrive, but there was literally no one during lunch hour, so atmosphere is a bit weird. Food was okay, good bread, would be better if they also develop their drinks list

Noticed the chefs sneezing in the kitchen. Flavours are strong, bold and eccentric. 'Tapas portions' will cost you about £50 for two (exc drinks), and leave you a little hungry. I don't plan to return there.

The menu was just trying too hard and was pretentious and poor value. Portions were small though the food itself was good. Table staff were not good either. Overall it was over priced for what it was and the poor explanation of the menu was really not great either given the price tag.

The Corner Room used to be my favourite restaurant. Sadly, after changing management and kitchen team three times in the span of a few years, it is nowhere near the standard it used to hold. We returned today to find a very basic but still expensive menu (fries and crab on toast), and even then it wasn't very good. Everything arrived within minutes of us ordering, which is never a good sign: unsurprisingly, the pasta was undercooked, the crab was cold, and the fries were... well, fries. On top of that, the waiter forgot half of our order, and when I mentioned the quality of the food, scoffed. Not what you expect from the intimate kitchen of an upscale hotel. I won't be returning, and neither should you.

Where are the sides ? Bad explaination of menu. No sides listed on menu. Then no sides dishes come or any explaination of the menu, so just expensive meat then. If there are no side dishes then please tell me or make it clear on the menu that they are recommended. Bad service and understanding for customer than a default service charge when this hasn't been explained. Rubbish but easily fixed with a bit of attention to detail. Very very very poor wine list too. I rather go to a good pub & have a steak and ale pie with a nice real ale. I don't understand the premium price here.

E
Efi Iliopoulou

The only positive aspect was the environment, which however had a drawback; the intense heat coming from tens of lit lightbalbs right behind my chair. The portions were pretentiously small and tasteless. My grouse was undercooked so I had to send it back. Even the waitress was a bit shocked when she saw the blood coming out of the meat! When it came back it was still undercooked so I didn't manage to eat it, which still didn't make them take it off the bill. Bear in mind that this is coming from someone who eats rare steak. I don't tend to write bad reviews but that was ridiculous.
