It was empty on a Friday evening, but a lot of Take outs from what I notice. I got two different types of fries, and they were good. There is no table service so you have to go to the front and ask. You pay and then sit down. The place looked very clean and all the table were being clean while I was there.
Sometimes you just need a good solid well-made burger 🍔 and this is the spot! Great employees making great food during lunch. 😋 #Burger #Lunch #Food #Restaurant #Employees
Good service, great price for a neat and juicy spicy burger! You should go here if you’re in downtown Long Beach.
I liked it. Friendly staff, good tasting burger and a nice oldschool atmosphere. What else to ask for!
Super friendly service, and delicious freshly made burgers and chili cheese fries
tasty food, great atmosphere, and decent prices! special shout-out to Mitchy (sp?) who helped us out today while also chatting with us about the event we’re in town for the weekend. love connecting with people like that - added a personal touch to her customer service!
This is a great place to eat! Their burgers and fries are the best in Long Beach. I live in Bixby Knolls 90807 and drive to downtown LB location to get my usual double Turkey burger with everything on it. The drive is a little ways but definitely worth it. The manager's Becky and Alex are so pleasant and always greets people with respect and courtesy. If there's ever an issue with your order (which has only been once) they have politely apologized and corrected the order. I've been a regular customer for over 4yrs and stop in about twice a month. The restaurant area inside and out is always maintained and clean. It's hard to find a good place that has great food that is always cooked fresh and tastes great. I have referred many friends and coworkers to this location and they've all been pleased with the food. Also, I've gone there several times and ordered up to 5 burger & fries orders at once for my close friends and I'm satisfied with the service. I appreciate the kindness from Becky and Alex.
Whenever we come to long beach, we always go to hohnny rockets for lunch. Yes, $25 a person for burgers is on the pricey side, but the food is always worth it. It's a nice little treat I guess you could say
Visited this lovely establishment last night with my family. Had the opportunity to be served by Hugo and he was an absolute gem! Great suggestions and just wonderful service all around. Thank you to the GM Michelle for a great dining experience. The food was delicious and the hospitality was fantastic.
Food and service was AMAZING! Our server, I believe is Anthony(based off receipt info) super helpful and attentive! The food was so flavorful and came out in a timely fashion! I have no complaints. Came for my bday on a Saturday night and was not over crowded vibes were so nice. My boyfriend and I ate on the roof top facing outward towards the street! View was nice!
Wow, we had such a great experience here! Beautiful and uniquely designed restaurant.. with plenty of seating. I was hesitant because it was a slightly chilly night, but there is a lot of heating on the rooftop. Plus it’s covered. We sat at the bar and had comfortable seating. Food was great!! We ordered the Brussel sprouts and they were definitely some of the best I have ever had! (& I order Brussel sprouts at almost every restaurant I go to!). I am not a fan of goat cheese, but they did pair well with the meatballs, which were tender and juicy. The passion fruit whisky sour was also divine! The real star of the show was our server, Billiam. Honestly he (sorry if I am assuming gender) was one of the best bar tender / severs I have ever experienced! Literally so beautiful inside and out. A GREAT personality, enjoyable humor, and really had the perfect balance of checking on us, and giving us space to enjoy our meal and company. Plus he gave great recommendations for the food at the restaurant, and places to go because I am new to the area. Billiam works on Wednesdays and Saturdays!!
Very rare gem that gets all 5 stars across the board! I LOVED the vibe here. It was warm, kinda sexy, a little steam punkish! Our server was so attentive and patient. He made it look easy! At the table we ordered the brussel sprouts, the meatballs, Catch of the Day (Halibut), the burger and salad with tomato bisque. Everyone was delighted! Every our youngest eater, who ordered pepperoni pizza said "it changed his life." 😂 I had the catch of the day and I had to close my eyes and take a deep breath with the first bite of the orzo. It was creamy, delicately citrus and warm. The peas and carrot ribbons were crisp and flavorful. The pan sear on the halibut was PERFECTION. I devoured every bite. The desserts were delicious as well. We had the creme brulee and bread pudding with a vanilla ice cream a la mode. This is a must revisit when we are in town.
A nice spot to enjoy dinner on their outdoor rooftop patio on a cool SoCal evening. The aptly named "famous" Brussels Sprouts are a winner and a must have! They are easily shareable. We also loved the extra thick cut bacon that was blended in with the sprouts. Mains were the LBC Chicken Sandwich and I was drawn to the Bo Burger Royale. Pork belly with two beef patties, why wouldn't ya! The truffle aioli contributes to a great flavor balance. Our server was super friendly but prices were on the higher end. Overall though, it was a nice evening out.
Had a wonderful birthday meal at BO-beau. Brussels and tomato bisque were standouts, but every bite was delicious. Picnic table seating was quite uncomfortable and cheapened the atmosphere a bit, but food more than made up for it. Probably wouldn’t drive from Irvine again, but absolutely worth a trip if you’re in the area.
This is such a nice restaurant. We dined on the rooftop, which has heat lamps for the days that are kind of cool. Our food was delicious. I ordered the brussels sprouts, the meatballs, and the truffle fries. My Bestie ordered the wings, mac & cheese, and Caesar salad. We both loved our meals. And the drinks were outstanding; just the right amount of kick and flavor. The customer service was excellent. I will definitely be back.
I went to a friend’s birthday party with about 20 people. Our server was super attentive and did a great job of taking care of everyone. A few of us shared the Brussels sprouts, which were pretty tasty and a great way to share a dish among 3-4 people. I ordered the mushroom ravioli and decided to add short rib to my entree for an extra $10. It was a fantastic choice! The flavor was rich but not too overpowering. For drinks, I got an espresso martini and a whiskey sour. Both were a bit too sweet for my taste, though.
We visited from out of town and saw this place on Yelp. Told my husband we have to go check it out because all the photos looked so nice. Came and instead the place looks amazing. The hostesses were very kind and nice as soon as I walked in. Maybe it’s Christmas season so the vibe was super nice and christmasy. We were seated upstairs. When I walked up a waitress was already there waiting to seat me. We only ordered the wild mushroom flatbread because we had plan to eat somewhere else but I wanted to try the flatbread and it was quite good. My husband is a vegetarian so he enjoyed it very much! Come during the holiday season it’s very pretty.
Located on Pine Ave. & Broadway, next to Sevilla. There's street parking, but it can be challenging to find a spot during peak hours. We parked about 1 block away in the 'Landmark Square Parking Lot' using the Pine Ave/1st St. entrance and paid $15.50 for 4.5 hrs. We made reservations for my friend's birthday dinner on Saturday evening and was such a great choice! I had their 'Bo Burger Royale', which is a double patty and crispy pork belly with pickled-green tomato, lettuce, white cheddar & truffle aioli' accompanied with a 'Dry Apple Cider'. We ordered their 'Brussels Sprouts' & 'Mac 'N Cheese' and shared them as appetizers. Everything tasted amazing. Shout out to our server, Hugo who was extremely attentive and helpful with the menu. He made sure that we had a great birthday dinner experience. After dinner, Hugo described their upstairs rooftap with a full bar, and of course, we decided to go try it. We enjoyed our cocktails with patio-picnic table style seating until their last call, which was 10:45PM (the cocktails were better downstairs, though). Our server upstairs was Daniel C. who was also very attentive and friendly. This is a sign of excellent management. Overall, we had a great experience here and will definitely return.
Came here for a work dinner. Absolutely love the atmosphere. It’s very rustic and the fireplace in the back was so nice to sit in front of since it was a chilly night. We started with bulgogi fries, brussel sprouts and calamari. All were great! I got the French onion soup - amazingly delicious broth! - and a side of mashed potatoes. I also got a gluten free beer which was fresh off the tap. The only reason it loses a star for service is our waiter got kind of cold when we said no to dessert. But otherwise, it was a great experience and definitely recommend!
First time here, it’s was a busy weekend with a festival going on, but many parking structures in the area so didn’t walk far. Very trendy bar/ restaurant. We started off at the roof top bar which was a vibe in itself. Then we had dinner downstairs with a large group, we did make reservations. Portions were huge, the service was absolutely exceptional both at the bar and at our table, the food was delicious. It was great for a date or even a large party. Highly recommend, and will definitely return!
National Burger day! Burger and fries actually really good and a fresh banana shake.. patio seating.. place is a bit run down could definitely use a face life but food was greaT!
Tasty food. Clean shop. Great waitress. Burgers super greasy. This picture is the grease that came off of just one Burger not including all the grease that went all over my hands. This is been a repetitive complaint in the other sites. The food was good.
Was the only table there. Fries were cold and unseasoned... They tasted like nothing. Lol but like always it's a cute place to grab a bite.
Really good service. Friendly cashier. The shakes aren't that good but their burgers are on point ! Very clean. I like that they're right across the street from a dayclub. Everytime we visit, I always sit outside and eat so I could listen to some great music 🎶 It's always a vibe!
Food is great, service could be better. The atmosphere is clean, busy and noise level moderate to loud just depends on when you go. If your goong for a quick bite, this is not the place to go, go when you have more time to wait, food is great and worth it, so I encourage you to try it.
Went right when they opened for social hour (their version of happy hour- 5-6:30PM) I personally would not go eat here other than for the social hour. I just can’t justify the food prices for the food that is served. It was just all …meh. Not bad, not great, just ok. $30 for a burger and fries is crazy. $30 for bacon mac and cheese is probably crazier. Those brussels sprouts though. 10/10. Please order those EVERY TIME! Everything else was just average. Service was good though. And besides the wooden park benches as seating in the roof area, the atmosphere was descent as well.
It’s not cheap but the food is excellent. Lots of beer choices, rooftop bar is cool if the weather is nice. Poutine was great, good fries, plenty of toppings, decent portion to share for four people. Really liked the pickled onions. Would ask for more next time. I personally do not enjoy brussel sprouts, but they were a hit with the rest of the table. The duck leg pappardelle was everything I hoped and dreamed it would be. Perfect flat noodles, rich flavors, and a perfect balance of ingredients. I couldn’t get enough, but then felt satisfied as I took the last bite. I would absolutely order that again. The chicken sandwich looks amazing and the Mac and cheese sounds incredible. Hopefully will be back soon.
I recently dined at this restaurant for a dual birthday celebration with coworkers visiting from out of town. Overall, the experience was positive, but there were a few notable downsides. **Positives:** The customer service was excellent. When I called to accommodate our large party, the staff was very helpful. Both the waiter and hostess were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was also quite good. My Old Fashioned was well-crafted, and we all loved the baked brie—definitely a highlight of the meal. Others in our group enjoyed the duck, mushroom ravioli, steak fries and mac 'n' cheese, and I tried them as well. Each dish was delicious and well-prepared. **Negatives:** However, the dining experience wasn't without its drawbacks. We were seated on the rooftop, which was extremely hot. I inquired about sitting downstairs, where we could have all fit at one table in a much cooler environment, but I was informed that seating downstairs wasn't an option. This was disappointing, especially since the downstairs area was beautifully designed and much more comfortable. Additionally, while the risotto was decent, it wasn't exactly what we expected. Three of us ordered it and were surprised by the very strong lemon flavor, which wasn't mentioned in the dish description. Lastly, the prices seemed a bit steep for the experience of sitting at a picnic table in the heat. In summary, while the food and service were commendable, the seating arrangements and unexpected flavors in certain dishes were disappointing, especially considering the prices.
We had a reservation at The Root Tap. The place itself was nice, though it felt more like a sports bar than the upscale French restaurant we were expecting. Our server was quite slow — it took a long time for both our order to be taken and for the food to arrive. I ordered the fig flatbread (even pointed to it on the menu), but they brought out the shrimp flatbread instead. When I declined it, the server apologized and quickly arranged to have the correct one made. I appreciated how professionally the staff and management handled the mistake. The food overall was okay. The wings were average, but they came with fries that were excellent — crispy, hot, and flavorful. The Brussels sprouts, however, were disappointing. Despite the glowing reviews, ours were over-fried and had a bitter, burnt taste. The fig flatbread, once corrected, was actually quite good — thin crust and topped generously.
This restaurant use to be a staple in Long Beach but this is my 2nd time going in since the remodel and I’m disappointed in the service. Greeting was poor and just as dark as the atmosphere. The place smells and it’s barely holding on I’m sure due to the customer service.
Server never refilled drinks. Guess he's new. Food was ok. Need to keep doors closed as Flys were constantly harassing.
Wooowww!!!! I’m so disappointed!!! Is getting a nice slice of APPLE PIE to much to ask??? Why do you think it’s ok to give your customers a BURNT SLICE OF PIE then say “ sorry looks a little broken!” Will not be getting anything from here ever again!!!!
The shrooms were over cooked and they were not whole mushrooms. The onion rings were undercooked. Last but not least the tots did not taste fresh, but they tasted frozen. The only great thing about this place was the shake and the waiter.
Im surprised this location is still open. I went for a date and it ended up being the worst possible choice. With much regret in my heart. There were only two workers in there and I had to go up them to take my order because they would not go up to you. The female and male worker were both sitting down on their phones most of the time and had the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. All the sodas were flat and when I asked for a lemonade replacement it was strait watered down and disgusting. The shake we ordered was pretty much melted and in a to go cup with no nice presentation whatsoever so ever. I’ve been to Johnny rockets before and had a great experience and great food. Im not sure if all of the restaurants have changed but this was by far the worst restaurant experience I have had. How they afford to be at this location? I’m not sure but never again.
Took forever to take our order, server wasn’t the friendliest idk if she was having a day but she seemed to be in a bad mood and quick to stay on her phone. Soda was flat so i replaced it with a lemonade but that seemed to be watered down as well. The milkshake was more like soupy cup of chocolate. they brought the order out wrong but took it back to fix. Almost everything that could go wrong went wrong lol which is unfortunate because its at a location that would make it easy for them to thrive if they could just provide some hospitality.
felt more like a nuisance than a customer unfortunately.. the employees were more worried about scrolling through their phones than serving me, i had to go up and order (i thought this was a dine in restaurant). It was my birthday and i had a lousy experience, needless to say but i should have went to ruby tuesdays instead.
I do not suggest this establishment to anyone. The ambiance was clean, but the building was quite empty. However, the burger was disappointing as it was soggy and the meat was of poor quality. It was overly salty and greasy, and surprisingly did not come with cheese, which required an additional payment. The meal itself was quite expensive at $14.99, and that did not even include a drink or cheese. The customer service was acceptable, but overall, I will not be returning. It is advisable to save your money or dine elsewhere. My first visit back to this place was a major letdown.
