Avis sur Elysee Los Angeles
Really festive atmosphere, and around the clock service between multiple servers. They keep bringing extra bread to keep you going. The bread looks large in size, but you burn through it really fast. We really enjoyed all our food, and there are green chilies on top of the entrees incase you want to spice it up, but the food is mild. The dessert was a little too sweet for me, but the hubby enjoyed it, and finished it off. We ordered the banana bread with banana slices. We got Mandi rice and two entrees, one was potato, okra, and ground beef, and second was lamb and beef mix. House sauces are delicious too and the hummus is very fresh. We ended our meal with some warm black team. They are open late as well. Great place to come as a couple or as a family. Traditional and festive decor inside.
First time trying Yemeni food and it was outstanding. The food was hot and flavourful, very filling as well. Malik was excellent
Mandi House in Los Angeles is a true hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Yemeni and Arabic cuisine. The restaurant offers a traditional Arabic-style floor seating area, as well as regular tables and booths, giving everyone a comfortable dining option. The food is absolutely freshly cooked and full of rich, authentic flavors. Every single dish has its own unique taste, from the tender meat in the mandi rice to the perfectly balanced spices in their stews and curries. You can tell that each meal is made with care and tradition. The ambiance feels warm and cultural, the portions are generous, and the overall dining experience is one of a kind. If you’re looking to experience real Yemeni food with great hospitality in Los Angeles, Mandi House is a must-visit. Highly recommended for food lovers and anyone wanting to try something authentic and delicious!
We had a wonderful experience at Beit Al Mandi Al Yemeni. The food was absolutely delicious and very authentic. We were a group of 6 people, and each person paid around $35, which was totally worth it for the quality and quantity. We ordered two mandi lamb dishes, haneeth, okra, gravy, and a variety of salads. Everything was flavorful, well-cooked, and very satisfying. Special thanks to Amani, who provided outstanding service. She was extremely kind, respectful, and attentive. Her professionalism and friendly attitude truly made our dining experience even better. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great Yemeni food and excellent service. We will definitely come back!
It was my first time trying a Yemeni restaurant, and I will definitely repeat the experience when I come back to Los Angeles. Everything was beyond amazing; the mandi, the lamb liver, and the wonderful Yemeni dishes like haneeth, madhbi chicken, and the fattoush salad. The desserts were great too, especially the crème brûlée, along with the lemon mint juice. Thank you so much you truly made us happy. We appreciate your warm hospitality specially Ahmad and thank you for your excellent taste.
Amazing and Authentic Food! This was a great experience! We went for a birthday dinner with a very large group, and Malik took excellent care of our table. We chose to sit on the floor cushions, which added to the authentic atmosphere. However, if you prefer, they also have regular tables. Just a heads-up, if you go for the cushion seating, you'll need to remove your shoes. Everything was incredibly tasty. We started with lentil soup and fattoush salad, both were delicious, and the salad was one of the best I've ever had. For shared sides, we had Mushakal Forn, a fried mixed vegetables, including eggplant and potato. It was absolutely delicious. We also tried the Yemeni kebab, which I highly recommend, as well as their hummus. For the main dish, we went with The Impossible Dish, a mix of lamb and chicken varieties. If you're unsure what to order, this is a great choice. Most dishes also come with a large piece of bread as well. They gave us complimentary tea and coffee since we were a large group. Their traditional tea was incredible, but I wasn't a fan of the coffee. Overall, a must try!
Great place for yemeni food. The portions are massive good food overall. We ordered the 5 person haneed with lamb and Mandi chicken and also the hrada with shrimpna. Both items were so delicious. The shrimp was cooked so well and it was the favorite dish of the group. The 5 person dish with a fully tender bone in lamb, lamb item and Mandi chicken was so delicious. It came with pilaf that includes raisins and tons for fried garlic and onions. Overall the food was really good. The Arabic coffee was also very good with large hints of cardamom. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the items we ordered and answered any questions we had. There is a sit-down without shoes section which adds to the experience. The only downside is they only give you water bottles when you request water.
My first experience with Yemen’s cuisine and it was delicious. The breads, dips, stews, and rice were all excellent. The ambiance with bright light and the smell of cleaning products takes the atmosphere score down for me but all 5 stars for food and service. I would absolutely come back.
Incredible food and overall atmosphere!! This is my first time trying Yemeni cuisine and I fell in love!! I have fell head over heels for their Hrada of Seltah and Lamb Mandi. THE TASTE IS LIKE NOTHING I’VE EVER HAD BEFORE!! It’s worth the traffic, plus the servers are very kind! Will be returning as often as I can!
Yemeni hospitality has a warmth and generosity that makes you feel honored to be there. Every dish feels deeply rooted in tradition, rich with perfectly balanced spices and slow-cooked care, as if generations of love were poured into it. The mandi was unbelievably tender and fragrant. My friends and I enjoyed every meal, thank you once again for the amazing hospitality.
Flatbread absolute best and tea was delicious, meat is tender and rice is flavored well. Comfort food at its best, kids loved it, leftovers at home heated up nicely later. Overall, great experience!
Wow, wow, wow!!! Thank you so much Kori!! We came in for a new experience and came out with the best experience. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was such a big serving and the offer variety as far as me and also vegetarian options. We came in a group of 16 and we all left very happy and please. Thank you so much Kori for all your service. This was absolutely the best.
Food was amazing!! I've had middle eastern food in the past and this by far has been my best experience. The restaurant itself is nice and clean. I had lamb chops; they were really tasty--even ordered another to go. The bread was delicious as well. I will definitely go back. Such a great find!
Scrumptious food & lovely ambience - I was initially hesitant coz I had never tried Yemenese cuisine before, but wow it was so good! The portion size of the Mutton biryani was beyond expectations, but the one thing I absolutely fell for was the Chai/Tea which they served - I have rarely found good tea even in the Indian restaurants, tbh. Overall, strongly recommended especially for South Asians.
Our waiter Moseat was great. He showed great care and was very professional. We ordered lamb Mandi and lamb haneeth. Also Karak chai which were all great.
Mandi House in LA was such a great experience. The mandi was incredibly flavorful, the meat was tender, and everything felt authentic and comforting. Perfect spot for sharing a hearty meal and really enjoying Yemeni cuisine.
Wow, this might be one of my favorite cafes ever. Reminds me of a neighbor bistro in Paris, but with American tastes. Plenty of seating, a quiet serene atmosphere, and good coffee and baked goods
We tried at least eight different ice cream flavors and all of them were incredibly delicious. It was hard to choose a favorite. The two ladies who helped us were very friendly and cheerful, thank you to them. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves ice cream and happens to be
Having lived in Westwood for a few years now, Elysee is one of my favorite spots here. Their Hot Mocha is my favorite of all the coffee shops I've had. Aside from their delicious cafe and bakery options, they also have salads, sandwiches, and pasta. The staff is always so kind, and the interior hosts a lot of seating. Additionally, they have oat milk as an alternative, which I love, and they have wifi and a few outlets, which is optimal for students. My favorite thing of all is Their hours. They don't close early like every other cafe in town, and they also have delicious food to accompany their ambiance. I like going here to study, eat, coffee, read, etc. Lovely place. june 19, 2025: The staff is so kind, I come here frequently and they're always so warm and welcoming. They recently added Gelato? the mango is absolutely delicious.
If you were going to describe a local corner coffee and bakery, this would be it. Yep, it's on the corner. It's got that quaint feel about it with mostly regulars, and the food and coffee are very good. Although we were sitting outside, we ordered our coffee and espresso in papper cups. The server suggested we use the ceramic cups, but we wanted to walk with them as well. The bakery items were fresh and soft inside. Great experience. We parked at the public lot around the corner.
Okay my coffee standards are higher than most of my ex-girlfriends' expectations. And deliver about as much. But let me tell you—this place delivers. First off, can we talk about Elia? Ladies and gents, she's serving good looks and great mochas. God was having a really good day when he made her. But unlike most pretty girls who've rejected me and my life, she's actually the sweetest person ever. This girl makes an iced mocha that'll make you wanna be monogamous. I took one sip and literally said out loud, "Where have you been all my life?" The couple next to me thought I was hitting on them. Maybe I was. The vibe in this place? Fly. Or whatever word the cool kids use these days for both "chill" and "sophisticated". You walk into this french cafe feeling like a regular person. You walk out feeling like a regular person with a caffeine buzz. So yeah, go to Elysee. Order a mocha from Elia. Sit there and pretend you're in France working on your screenplay like everyone else in Westwood. But unlike them, you'll actually be enjoying yourself because you're drinking liquid mythology and being served by an angel. And yes, I will be coming back tomorrow. Or would that be weird? If not maybe the next day. And probably the day after that. I don’t know I’ll ChatGBT what’s appropriate.
Food was great and presentation was even better. The servers were there kids(?) which was a cute touch but they were attentive. We had the mandi plate which was suited for 3 people but it was just 2 of us, so plenty of food leftover. Leftover tasted great too. Id highly recommend coming here with a guest visiting the area.
I came here with my family yesterday and had a nice experience. Service is pretty slow (we had to wait 30 minutes for someone to take our order- they need a lot more staff than what they had) and the place was very busy but the food was awesome. We ordered the grilled chicken with rice and hradha of shrimp which were very flavorful. Fasolia with eggs was good but a bit bland. The setup is great for sharing food with a large group. Would definitely go again.
Cool spot in Westwood near UCLA. It was busy on Saturday night but it was a fun experience. We had to park about a block away so be prepared to walk. Overall the food was good And service was good too.
This is a very busy Cafe in a busy area. They do not have parking and you either have to find street parking or park in a city on parking structure. That's why we came on a Saturday. Don't expect to find free parking. They have a menu board which is kind of hard to review when you're standing in line. They do have a printed menu, but have to request it. You can take it and go sit down at an open table and then go back and order. We were disappointed without order when we first got it. My sister had asked for her eggs benedict soft and they came hard. I didn't make a special request, but when I got mine the English muffin was so overcooked I could not cut through it. However, I was very impressed with the response of the restaurant. They offered without us even having to ask to redo the order. Once we got the second order, it was very good. You'd get a very small juice and a croissant with your breakfast. If you order coffee, you only get one cup and have to pay a dollar for a refill. The plates they serve you on are large and the tables for two are small so that's a bit of a challenge. All in all, this is a good restaurant if you're in the neighborhood.
I came here for breakfast, first time. My breakfast sandwich was pretty good but I would say the bread/sandwich ratio was a bit too much on the bread side for my taste. Coffee was only so so, many places have better. This place seems to have a good lunch menu, did not try any of the salads or sandwiches.
I've been coming here for a while because it's such a lovely place to hang out and study and I like the pastries. But lately it's been intolerable because of a consistent and VERY strong urine smell. You guys MUST do something about this. It's an eating place! I can't tell exactly who it's coming from, but I've watched the place clear out after it wafts in, and it stays for hours. Besides that, there are a few (I think new?) employees who are exceedingly rude and seem to enjoy playing games with what they charge. $3 for a coffee one day, $5 seemingly when the worker is in a bad mood. Next time I'll be more watchful and challenge them on this. One woman in particular openly and loudly makes fun of customers to the other worker while the customer is still there. She did it to me. All this makes me hesitant to keep coming back.
The coffee is okay but the avocado toast is one of the worst I’ve ever had. Comparable to the one you’d get at Dunkin’ Donuts for $4, except it’s $20 here. The barista could have been more polite as well
The arrogance and prices of Paris in Westwood. Actually, Parisians are nicer and more attentive for service. We were a party of four, picked by my daughter. There’s no vegan options on the menu. My “Cobb Salad” was made with turkey and contained no cheese whatsoever. Dressing was nearly nonexistent. When I went to the counter and requested additional dressing, to the apparent manager or owner, I thought it would be forthcoming. After five minutes of watching the staff talk behind the counter, I went up a second time with the same request. She had completely forgotten about my request even though I had to leave my table to make it. This is self-serve at 4-star prices. Pretentious and forgettable. None of us thought it was worth a second visit. Cannot recommend unless you like to be ignored and quickly relieved of your funds. The breads, only, seemed acceptable. The food was not. Do not eat here.
Let me start with the fact that we drove 7 hours from Arizona to try this place. Let our server know of this upon arrival. Ordered the chicken Mandi x2. Hummus with naan bread, and mint drink. The chicken was extremely dry and the rice was stale. Both came out cold. The onions were cooked from way before. Nothing was fresh. The naan was cold which we asked to be changed but the new one was clearly heated up and for some reason very chewy. Hummus was watered down. The sauces had no taste to them. The service was odd - our server walked out half way through our meal without telling us so we had no one who was helping us. No one asked if we needed anything or how the food was. We skipped dessert knowing it would likely also be bad. We really wanted to like this place and give this place a good rating (especially as a power reviewer on Google) but are extremely disappointed and would never come back.
I have never experienced this level of horrible customer service in my entire 34 years of living. I came into elysee expecting to be treated respectfully and politely but instead was met with complete rudeness by the worker with the funny hat, Zack. He asked me “what do you want” with a horrible attitude and then proceeded to charge me a completely different price for my latte than what the menu stated. I didn’t feel like arguing so I just paid the whopping 8 dollars for a small latte. Only a handful of people were in the establishment so I didn’t expect for my drink to take 15 minutes!!!! While I waited I caught Zack, not only changing the song playing like 15 times but also flirting with other customers, and berating his young coworker who seemed to be having a rough time (I don’t blame them) . Despite the horrible service I received . Here’s the real trouble I had with this establishment….i sat to drink my very mediocre drink and had a ROACH crawl over my foot. I complained to the Zack guy, who now had earphones in, and he told me that I was lying and that I had to show him proof. Least be sure, I left that place as soon as possible and will never be returning.
