Big, indoor swap meet type of place selling mostly Mexican/Latino-centric goods. A couple eateries one the upper floor, didn't eat but they looked good.

I went there yesterday, Christmas Day to eat and loved it, however I walked around to the shop and I dropped & lost my keys. They have my name on it Alexandra if for any reason someone sees them, please reply to the post so I can go back to el mercadito and pick them up. I’ve called the number online and no one answers in the mailboxes are full. Thank you.

Fun Mexican style market place. A few restaurants. Little shops. Friendly staff. You can find anything to prepare your Mexican dishes here. Disappointed mariachi restaurant was closed. Definitely a must try when it opens.

Walking into El Mercadito feels akin to stepping into a lively Mexican plaza: the hum of voices, the vibrant colours of vendor booths, the aroma of grilled corn and seasoned meats, all set against a backdrop of live music. Visitors consistently comment on the “culturally and gastronomically great” environment. The presence of mariachi bands playing on raised stages further elevates the sense of occasion whether you’re there for a casual meal or a festive night out. The food offerings at El Mercadito are expansive and authentic. You’ll find everything from birria tacos and raspados (shaved ice) to full traditional Mexican dinners such as mole, ceviche, and menudo. Every element, from décor to menu to music, feels rooted in Mexican heritage, giving the venue real character rather than a diluted “theme. El Mercadito works well for families: the food variety makes everyone from toddlers to teens happy, and the festive atmosphere adds interest. There’s room to roam, explore vendor booths, and engage with the music. That said, due to the high energy and crowds, keeping an eye on younger children is wise. The market conditions make it more casual than fine-dining, but perfect for a lively family outing. The venue is accessible via public transit (near Indiana Station on the E Line) and also has parking lots (though tight) and street parking. Wheelchair accessibility may vary by vendor stall, but the overall large space and market layout afford easier mobility than many cramped restaurants. It’s advisable to call ahead for specific accessibility concerns. If you’re looking for a dining destination that combines rich Mexican flavors, immersive atmosphere, and community energy, El Mercadito delivers. It’s not just a restaurant it’s a cultural experience. While you should be prepared for some hustle and a bit of adult‐level activity (especially in the evenings), for a memorable outing with friends or family, it ticks nearly every box.

A must visit for Mexican wares and food. Multiple levels of stalls filled with embroidered clothing, handmade leather shoes, clay cooking and serving pots and dishes, religious items and both traditional trendy themed blankets and clothing. Several market style food booths with mole and other items for cooking. Tortilla presses. Food stalls with tamales and other delicious Mexican prepared foods and beverages. Mariachi clothing, cowboy boots and shorts, gorgeous embroidered dresses and shirts. Stunning leather sandals and shoes. For all sizes from babies, kids and adults. Free parking on site. A must visit!

A great place to shop for authentic Mexican wares, and they sell everything from adornments to clothes. The food vendors are great they outdo themselves every year. The food places inside sell amazing food. There is parking, its just too bad they built the apartment building in front of it. The apartments are a separate entity.

Some of these things are pricey but if you think about it at least you didn’t have to drive to Mexico or pay shipping. Amazing genuine, hand-made items like clothing, accessories, etc. it truly makes one feel like you’re in Mexico. Parking is complicated if it’s packed but free in the lots behind.

March 2024 I really enjoyed exploring this area. Culturally it was really interesting, seeing all the different Mexican goods and foods. I spent a good hour or more here. I had a Mexican tripe wrap and crème caramel from the restaurants inside and they were very tasty and authentic. I highly recommend this spot but just be aware that many of the shopkeepers and workers can't speak English so there may be communication difficulties.

Our first time there after visiting Los Angeles many, many times. We didn’t know about this place until my wife saw an instagram video about it. So we went and it was like visiting Tijuana and Rosarito again. Nice place to visit.

If you ever wanted to have fun and shop at the same time this place is for you. Now, it is not pretty, you are not going to Saks or even Walmart, you are going to a traditional Mexican, 3 stories, of food, shopping, dinning, drinking and fun. It is a huge place with more vendors than I can count. If you want a belt or hat from Mexico they have that. Looking for comfy clothes, they have that. If you just want to walk around and eat at all the vendors you can do that. They also have a restaurant and it is great. Parking is easy in their lot. The place gets crowded on the weekends, so I go on a weekday. Be nice to the vendors, not all of them speak English, but you will figure it out and they are so nice. This is just a must.

Great place to find Mexican stuff, from traditional Mexican attires, mole pastes, spices and of course good food. Parking lot is a bit small therefore is highly recommended to arrive early. They have live entertainment in the evening hours. Overall a good place to have a good time.

This place is a lot of fun. I enjoyed looking at all the products and I ended buying a few trinkets such as bead bracelets, rosary, and lip liners. I also bought cajeta and some desserts. The bathrooms were clean and easy to find. The layout can be confusing at first but once you look around, it’s easy to determine where the exits are and how to back track and find shops you passed by. Overall, it’s a great place to explore and find great Mexican products and food.

El Mercado De Los Angeles! El Mercado de Los Angeles is a wonderful place to go and explore the latin food and desserts with little shops selling different stuff like toys, dresses, shirts of God or la virgen, belts, boots, jeans, El Niño dios, Customized shirts and more. The food is delicious at Tacos 5 De Mayo, I got Carne Asada Fries with everything on them they were delicious. I didn’t expect the Carne Asada Fries to be a big portion. They served me a big portion of Carne Asada Fries With a Mexican coke. 👀 My mom got a Pozole she said it was delicious! The caldo de pollo has chicken with carrots, squash, and cabbage. She also got a Mexican coke. My dad got a mole dish he said: It was alright for those that like really sweet the mole not for him but others do like it sweet not him. He got a jugo de horchata And for dessert we got Un Chocomil from Chocomiles (CREMI) they have so many flavors! I got Maza Pan parents got Pistache, and Nuez. So delicious dessert makes me think of me being at Mexico! The place also has the parking in the back with the Virgin De Guadalupe really beautiful to take pictures. One thing I don’t like is the front view of El Mercado wish it was better doesn’t look open.

I stopped in here while visiting LA, and was glad I did. It's like stepping into a whole other world. The sights, sounds, and smells reminded me of markets in Europe and South America I've been to. I didn't really try to shop for anything, just wanted to see it firsthand, and I was happy I did.

It was good I liked it. Some of the vendors spoke English and some spoke Spanish. It was great to go on a weekday not too crowded. Upstairs not all the spaces were open probably on the weekend and my friend tells me on the weekend they also have Mariachis. I enjoyed some of the fruit, the fruit drinks. I bought a little Loteria game and some of the candies. And there was several places to eat there too. There is handicap parking we also found out after we climb the stairs at there was also an elevator. So the place is handicap accessible.

This place definitely took me back to Mexico. The smell of food travels throughout the facility. The people are super kind. It's definitely run down but it's ELA. Prices on merchandise are not set so bargain the price down for sure and everything here is cash only. There are ATMs but use caution.

El mercadito brings back so much memories to my childhood. I came here a lot of time with my family to buy candy, shoes, make up. Things change when covid hit. But the thing I miss about this place is the tortillas the are made. It was next to the candy spot and a restaurant. I love the aguachiles there too. Good place to being your Mexican family. Edit : Feb 23,2025. I have recently, pass by to taste some agua chiles again. They served me small portion of shrimp. Outta the cucumber and purple onions. Wasn’t worth to pay so much with a little bit of shrimp and worst of all wasn’t well cooked either. I love it don’t get me wrong but. Come on, back when I came here the served me so much. Shrimp.

Horrible place overall. Lady who works where they sell street corn in a cup is grabbing chips with the hand she was grabbing cash on and giving them to customers without changing the glove after giving change back.very unsanitary!
