Had some great shows and met some cool people here! Friendly staff, clean and always a good time!
Good DJ, nice mixing and great track selection. Enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. Friday's Atomic
Great drinks, awesome live DJ sets, and amazing vibe.
Happen to stop in this place on Saturday for a drink. The dj (minorcut) was playing some awesome funk, ended up staying all night. Highly recommended😀
Incredibly talented, raw and creative drag show every Monday night. Great bartenders with well made drinks also.
I ain't much of a bar guy, but this one is decent, and the karaoke DJ is pretty cool
Awesome bartenders, great service and cool DJs with awesome vibes!!
Have plenty of shows here with my bands Gotta say Being a local They are Awesome and Have love for the community and patrons from everywhere.Love it here Great Music and Atmosphere!
The offbeat is a cool place. Its got a lot of space for dancing. There's not a lot of seats though so you'll be standing for sure.
Staff is awesome, this is a chill place to have some drinks. They host different events too, so check their calendar for sure!
Lovely bar, nice decor, plenty of space, Tuesday Karaoke had a fun crowd of mostly good singers!
Great energetic place great sounds great event venue awesome staff the security is a gentleman polite always pleasant very responsible on checking IDs and vaccine cards dope beard
LOVE the bar, but the DJ we have to work on the transitions. Good selection of music, but a Bish quality at best
Great vibes and always a good time. The only thing is that it gets too crowded and hard to get through. Other than that, it's a great vibe, and music is great.
80's night on Thursdays is great! Enjoy listening to the sounds of Dj Jose Shuton on Friday's.
Saw The Flamenco Souls here once and it just made me so happy, even during a bad week. Thank you for having them and for supporting live music.
It was my first time at this place last night for the Disco and Pisto Old School Funk event I loved it great music nice staff def coming back
Go to Popular Kids Club comedy show on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month!
I love the crowd here. It's never had a pretentious vibe. I think it's because there are very diverse groups of people that visit. The drinks are always good too and not over priced.
Small, intimate atmosphere with lots of dancing and drinks. Outdoor patio area was great for relaxing and hanging out with drinks if you prefer a quieter setting
Very cool spot. Huge smoking area in the back. Awesome DJs and cool bartenders. Went there for a bday celebration and had a blast.
Great variety of music flashback 80' s , some disco, house alternative.Drinks are exspensive .Palomita ×2 not strong but not weak they were ok $25 . The wait is crazy 30 mins. For the drinks nice atmosphere .
We have only been here for Monday drag nights but it’s a lot of fun! Exposure drag always puts on a great show. The sunburst cocktail is my favorite.
Cool bar like they have bands play there and events as well
Quick and friendly service. Came to see a friend's band play. Small venue but very cool! Stayed for the drag queen event. It was empty but still fun!
Had a Grand Funk cover band. Didn't know the music but it was still a lot of fun. Band did an amazing job. House cocktails were excellent as well.
My boy @elcompaslooly and his friends deserve to have their pictures on the wall for being such loyal customers. Maybe even a drink named after each of them, especially Daniel. A tall bearded Oaxacan young man that loves to party and spend time in the infamous photobooth.
Great spot in Highland Park for live music and drinks and more depending on their events added to back area. Pleasant sitting area at the bar or booths section, yay
Great drinking options, good prices, friendly bartenders, chill but effective security, and on Monday’s they have an amazing Drag Show from Exposure Drag!!!
Incredible music and wonderful atmosphere! A large space for dancing to your favorite tunes with a dive bar feel. A gem and a staple.
Great bar with awesome bartenders and a fantastic drink menu! Also a fun place to see live events and bands. Love being able to see a live DJ, laugh at some comedy, and then sing karaoke all in one night!
Bartenders are great, serving good cocktails at cheap prices (for L.A.). The Tuesday karaoke is really fun with great selection and fairly short wait times. I like it a lot!
let me start off by saying that a lot of these reviews confuse me. First of all Duffy bar has never sold food or meat nor do they have a shuffleboard. I've been reading a lot about how they have the best meats and they have a shuffleboard and the name of the owner is Scott none of which are true. The truth is Todd and elka are the owners of the bar and they're really cool people that just want to have a good time and want their customers to have a good time. So with that being said when the bar opens up again hopefully soon! You'll find a great atmosphere, good people, and good music. Sometimes I'll have a band here and there play and I heard even a drag night. So if you want to have a good time at a bar, come to this bar cuz even though it's called the offbeat, you're always fine good beats coming from the DJ.
Started coming here because of Monday night drag shows. Checked out Thursday's 80's nights (with free tacos!) and fell in love. Live bands, awesome djs, and great bartenders. Can't praise this place more.
This is a neat bar where Bass Waffles has their events, and it has a free cover, and they serve waffles, but be sure to tip your waffle maker! The shows are once a month, on Sundays, and are always a lot of fun. The same people who throw Bass Waffles, also have shows called Mutate, in LA. Be sure to check them out!!
Although they don't offer a food menu, you're allowed to bring outside food in. We often order postmates and have it delivered. If we're early, we order at My Taco and bring it in without a problem. The cocktail menu is great, I enjoy the watermelon Fresca.
My favorite local spot for a drink. Each night of the week has a different theme (80's night, drag night, etc) or live music. Bar seating, table seating, lounge-like seating. Thursday night is taco night! Sometimes they have movies playing on the wall, and the ambiance and drinks are great. It's very dark, and often very loud, so make sure that's your thing.
Went on 8/5/22. Great local bar. Good music, drinks and no cover charge. They have outside seating for those who just want to chill and drink. Parking is a bit hard as they have none and you have to find your own street parking.
Rad little dive bar. Tuesdays are chill for karaoke and bring your own vinyl
Love this place, but love more on Thursdays,Fridays,Saturday it draws a big crowd sometimes it get too pack but it's a great place to go and no cover charge. There is different theme every day. ( Like the saying goes to each it's own) so drop by and take a look at the daily theme calander at the bar and choose your day to go on,promise you may or may not like it but all Bar workers and people are all awesome.
How I love this neighborhood club! People are friendly and fun. I stopped by early on a Saturday night and was dazzled by Xmas decorations they just put up for the season and a great new band playing out for one of it's first gigs. As the band played to an enthusiastic audience, everyone in the room felt like we were sharing something special. Drinks are delicious and affordable, they don't charge for water- even bubbly water! Drop in!
Love this place! The bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. There is always something fun happening here. They have the best drag shows in Los Angeles every Monday night
Party it up at offbeat where chill vibes and good music fill up your night. Everyone was jamming and dancing on the main floor, it can get tight but in a good way just like o’ times getting that jump boogie on. It was y2k night so they were playing all the pop hits from the 2000’s 90’s 80’s that get you to groove and rock out to. They play no doubt don’t speak and everyone sang their hearts out, it was a moment. Such a mix ground and feels like the kickback block party where everyone from the neighborhood comes through. They got booths along the side wall with small tables for that vip section, they even had a photographer with a backdrop set up to take them old school portraits. Long bar so plenty of room to go up and grab a drink. They have a HUGE smoking patio out back with plenty of seating with tables under the canopy but also standing areas to vibe with your tribe, crew or old click as if it were back in the days of high school. There’s also one of those old school Photo Booths that prints out Over all chill spot and finally a spot where people actually dance and vibe with each other. All mixed and wide age groups. This is the homie spot that makes you appreciate highland park.
I was there on a Saturday night. They played a bunch of alt music. The room was full but in a fun way. There was no cover. I will be going back.
A delightful venue bar. Good beers on tap, loud but not too loud. Nice back patio. Went to see a friend's band play. Will definitely be returning. First live music I saw since the pandemic!

Cool vendors where in the back and u don’t have to be gay to have a good time im not and I had a great time but make sure u show up with a female lol. Then it will be awkward
The barkeeper Christian is so very nice, extremely knowledgeable about drinks and mixology and over all a pleasant conversationalist. I recommend getting drinks here!
The OffBeat is very on beat! This bar nightclub in Highland Park hosts a wide array of events including karaoke nights, drag shows, live band concerts, and more. I attended an event on a Sunday, Bear Garden: LABussy, a vendor mart and body positive event. Drink are good and the signature cocktails are unique for sure. There's a bunch of seating inside and some limited seating on their patio. They open at 5pm daily, but for Bear Garden they opened a little earlier at 4pm. So events have covers, but they're reasonable. Restrooms are clean and easy to access. Parking is street and can be a journey as they like to say. Service is great and the bartenders are outstanding. An open to all cool divey nightlcub bar meets event space.
Always a fun time. The DJs are always great, the bartenders are quick and make good drinks. It definitely gets packed and it's hard to dance but you have a good time. The crowd is usually fun too. Overall really enjoy the whole vibe.
Based on my favorite niTe ... COMEDY NIGHT 🌙 An eclectic comedy offering ... Clean ... Sarcastic ... Dirty ... Carlinesque ... Pryoresque ... They had it all ... Drinks - fruity and great staples ... I highly recommend this night and 80's night/Friday 🎶
New in town, so I drop by on a weekday to check out the scene but to my dismay I lost my driver's license/id and tried to use my expired id. The security guard follows the rules but still made me feel welcome so I respect that. She allowed me to come in but I couldn't buy alcohol.Bartenter was polite. Overall this looks like a good place to have fun on weekends. I'll be back when I fix my ID issue thanks.

It's a cool bar but the only bad thing they don't have Bud Light any domestic type of beer just PBR...
Went to watch my niece perform. They had booths, comedians, live bands, a burlesque show and a firedancer. Pretty cool
Good music, good drinks & I seen some quality women in there. I'd recommend it if your looking for something local.
The music is great, super chill vibe. But the drinks are pretty weak.
Chill bar / music venue in hlp. They have 80s nights as well as drag show night and put on different types of music shows. Big back patio.
Nice local bar. Dark red lights. Corner couches and seats. Nice long bar with cocktails etc. Enough room for dancing. Everything you want.
Great crowd fun music and nice staff. They serve food and have good drinks. Karaoke on Tuesday is fun but when I went equipment was glitching.
Karaoke DJ skips and ignores people if he doesn't like your song or wants to play his friends' songs or whatever reason. I put in my song about 3 spots behind my friends. After they sang their songs, I waited an hour and my song never came up. When I finally asked the DJ, he said he "didn't get to me yet". Then I waited another half hour before giving up and leaving. Total waste of time for no reason. Otherwise it's a solid bar.
Good place to meet friends, people call it a dive but I dont think so. Come dressed up and get up and dance if you want or just hang out and drink. If you come looking for fun I think you can find it here.
Fun, causal with that highland Park artsy hipster vibe, LGBT friendly, variety of entertainment, and fairy priced drinks. Went to the drink and drag Monday show. Host was awesome. Delightfully Dirty, creative, sassy and delectably themed. Different from other drag shows. Highly recommend.
Not gonna be a trendy hipster cocktail bar option, but The Offbeat has an edgy quality that boosts it above a dive. We were there apparently between live acts, so your mileage may vary significantly. Good variety of beer and cocktails, nothing super high-end but a few things of interest. Decor includes red barstools and art deco clocks. Not much around this spot in terms of nightlife, good option if you find yourself nearby.
Small little hole in the wall, bartender made good drinks, well balanced. Comfortable seating is limited, but the 80's music being played kept you out of your seat!. Ohhhh.... Free taco bar was an added plus.
The entrance is via the alleyway and not the door at the front. There’s stairs leading up to the venue so I would call them beforehand if your’ll need assistance.
This fun neighborhood bar is a little off the Highland Park stretch. It's not quite on the York or Figueroa crawl path, which makes it unique. The patrons are generally from the area, so you're not getting as much of the West Hollywood crowd that the bowling alley has drawn to the York stretch. Reasonably priced drinks and good servers. Check the website: there's a lot of cool events, and often some dancing.
Fantastic drinks. At first I thought the concept was cheesy. The cocktails though definitely live up to their accolades. Menu is perfect for a light meal. If u have your doubts, try it once & you will not be disappointed. The alley entrance adds to the ambiance. Also a good use of space for Los Angeles City!
A neighbor dive bar with DJs playing 80s music. Nice decor and ambience. The tequila in my palmoma must have been of low quality. I only had one paloma and woke up with a terrible headache the next morning.
Great dive bars with stiff drinks and a really cool outdoor area since Covid. Check them out - great outdoor area with the coolest mural and fun DJ (80’s music woohoo) on the weekend Happy Hour 5-7pm every weekend since no one actually puts the damn time when they review Happy Hour
Nice little spot. Went on an 80's night and although music was 80's I heard the same song more than 4 times. More of a knock on The DJ I guess. Place was nice, could use some cleaning and some attention to decor, but nice neighborhood dive bar.
Went for the drag brunch. Food was tasty. Drinks were excellent. Drag performers were a lot of fun.
Fun divey type of place, good beer selection. The music was soooo loud though haha

Super divey and hipster bar! Was in town visiting family and my cousin suggested this place. It's super casual and they have a really fun shuffleboard table! We ordered some beers and cocktails, but the best part were the free pretzels! How many bars offer free ANYTHING (besides water)?! Bartenders are super chill and not obnoxious at all. We also ordered the dolma as a snack and they were delicious. The music was mostly throwbacks which are really fun to sing along to when you're buzzing! Overall, I'm a fan and I'm glad that we came here.
I came for st Patrick celebration on march 17 2024 , all performances were amazing but the sound guy needs to improve or take some classes about sound… feedback was horrible during all The show , don’t let him drink during work jajaja
Stage lighting is too far back, so performers are in the dark at the front of the stage. The Sound system was muddy sounding, and there was lots of screetchy feedback. Despite that, the live music performers we're great. The jokey MCs between the bands were terrible. Not sure if they expect to be called "comedians," but I wouldn't use that term. $15 cocktail was good, but the place doesn't feel nice enough to justify that price.
They don't sell food and when it gets packed of people it takes long to get a drink but the people there are cool
The bartenders here are honestly some of the best employees ever, they’re friendly, hardworking, and make the experience inside enjoyable. BUT This is not a safe environment. Security seems to pick and choose who they protect, and if something serious happens, yo u can’t count on them to step in or even call the police. It’s disappointing to see a business allow this kind of behavior. Honestly, it’s not worth supporting a place that overlooks safety and creates such an uncomfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately, all of that gets ruined the moment you step outside because the security is absolute trash. They don’t protect guests, they let violence happen, and they won’t even call the police when things get out of hand. It’s disgusting that a business allows this no matter how good the drinks are, it’s not worth risking your safety.
On a Sunday night, $15 cover charge per person (I was with somebody, totaling $30.). Drinks are expensive, do not come here expecting to spend less than $50 (based on my experience of coming here on a Sunday night which is typically not a busy night). Enter the spot, bartenders are attentive and responsive, (again, the venue is nearly empty on a Sunday night). live performances who were fantastic, in between then, was a serviceable DJ. If you come on a non-busy Sunday night, minimum spent will be $50+. Other than the outrageous prices, there are other locales / venues available at a much more affordable rate without having to consider a cover charge at all. I would rate 3.5 stars if I could, however google’s rating system only deals in single stars so 3 stars it is considering other venues nearby with 0 cover charge and super affordable drinks. Maybe during the week or perhaps Friday is worth the 5* but on a Sunday I was unfortunately not impressed.

Did not like the bar everything really expensive and security have worse cooustmer service. Never coming here .
DJ couldn't read the room on Friday night. The crowd wanted to dance and you can tell the DJ had a pre made play list he put together while smoking.

I went on a Friday night and it was packed but the majority of the people leaving were saying that it was boring and going to Pasadena instead. I went inside and I was there for only 15 and I also decided to leave. I don't recommend this location to anyone.
I went yesterday, which was a Saturday night, with some friends. The bouncer reaked of liquor and was swaying back and forth while checking our IDs. After staring at them for a questionable length of time, he began asking us when our birthdays were, then our street address, then the zipcode, and STILL denied us entry! I get it, we're Asian and we look younger than we actually are so it's normal for people to look at our ID a little bit harder. But if you're going to allow your bouncer to be drunk, give him a UV light so that he can actually check if IDs are fake or not, but at the very least, give that man a cup of water.
Maybe the wrong night to go Awful mixed drink.. (worst tasting drink ever.) Served by a very unhelpful and unfriendly bartender.. seemed to be the theme of the place.. being dismissive and rude.. they definitely did not care about service or new customers
Love this place and have been coming here for years but be prepared to pregame before you arrive. Drink prices are insane. Between two of us for 6 basic margaritas, we spent over $100 bucks. Beers are expensive, you’re better off drinking in your car before you come in.
Went with friends on Friday May 10th. Ordered from the short bartender two pbr’s and two jager’s. Said I was paying cash and bartender said “$52”! I’m not one to argue, handed him sixty drank our drinks and won’t be back! A friend closed out her tab, she was charged NO WHERE near the amount I was. Thanks Offbeat for that great welcome to LA!
What a wack dive bar. Horrible karaoke (ok that’s standard) but what’s with the $9.30 Smog City Pilsners on draft? Isn’t that beer made in LA? It’s low alcohol content and tastes like a Hamm’s. It should not be more than $7. Never going here again
Bar tender not really good experience on making drinks. More expensive here then barcade. But music is good here. I ask for new york sour and give me new york bitter.

Went to karaoke Tuesday, arrived a little after 10pm and host refused to sign me up for musical karaoke. She said the next sign ups were at midnight. The flier for this event stated karaoke sign ups were from 9pm to midnight. I don't appreciate the discouragement and lack of inclusivity of this host. I guess local hipsters and her personal friends are allowed to participate in karaoke night only.
I used to come here every Friday, but this time I stopped by on a Sunday. The bartender was very friendly, and I was watching someone playing with a kind of spinning toy. Out of curiosity, I decided to try it myself for the first time. Unfortunately, I accidentally broke a small part of the equipment. The person asked for compensation, and I immediately paid $40 without any argument. What surprised me was what happened next: the bar’s security guard, Alex, came over and suddenly kicked me out without any discussion. His reaction felt unnecessarily aggressive and extreme, especially since I had already resolved the issue respectfully. It honestly seemed like he had been waiting for an excuse to treat me this way, as I’ve noticed similar behavior from him before. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. Guests shouldn’t have to deal with hostility from security when they are being cooperative and respectful.
