Avis sur The Brass Monkey Los Angeles
It was a pleasant experience. The chicken quesadilla was the best. The tortilla was filled with cheese. The margaritas was the best. And although they are located at the business hub of Los Angeles the price was average great staff members.
Although Christmas was over . . . They still had their decor. . . LOL . . . It was slow because of the rain I guess . . . But you can't really go wrong with booze and karaoke
great place. good food (that takes awhile)but too much traffic blocking the entrance to the building every firday saturday night for uber pickup
Perfect place to hang out and enjoy a good Friday night. Karaoke to test your skills. The beer and drinks might be pricey, but we all know why we enjoy these venues. So get yourself a bucket of beer and some good company, and have a great night!
Visited this place for the first time ever recently, even though I've worked in the ktown area for 10 years now. This is the new go-to spot for a fun night of drinks and singing. Divey vibe, but super chill and friendly. They'll validate your parking, at least on weekdays. Not too sure about weekends. Will def go again and highly recommend!
The Brass Monkey is a great place to go when you want to act a little crazy, become a performer, and enjoy life. The crowd is very diverse and the DJ knows how to keep everyone involved with the musical choices between karaoke songs. The food and drinks are nicely priced to where it doesn’t break your budget. Expect to spend around $30-$50 on 2 drinks(alcoholic) along with appetizers. Not bad for a night out. The atmosphere is wild and everyone there is trying to just have a good time and let loose. Definitely recommend going here. Give it a shot.
Karaoke bar a bit on the raucous side, in Mid city, includes dance floor. Barkeeps know their business, usually loud rock and pop, so decent place to have your beverages.
I'm dumbfounded by the 1 star ratings, a bit exaggerated. If you show up on time, you can get a good spot for karoke. It's one of the best Karoke bars in KTown. Victor, Eli, and Brenda are great energy. The staff is respectful and informative. I've been coming here for years now with not enough bad experiences to say anything wrong. The bartender takes care of you. The food is great. I definitely recommend this place.
I've lived in LA for 7 years and FINALLY went to Brass Monkey! If you only go once, you have to go! It's for sure a unique spot and just about every celebrity has gone here (take a look at all the framed pictures when you go inside). Their drinks are alright (really strong - probably what you need for karaoke! Haha), everyone is having a great time and there's probably not a song out there that they can't get their hands on. Got to see some fights out in the parking lot so that was a nice bonus, haha. All in all if you're looking for an "LA experience", give this place a try!
I’ve been to Brass Monkey many times before and always liked it, which is why this was so disappointing. We arrived around 11:30 PM, were seated quickly, and told about a two-drink minimum (totally fine). We ordered two dirty martinis and one non-alcoholic drink. The NA drink came out, but after 30+ minutes there were still no martinis. When we finally followed up, our server admitted he hadn’t even put the order in. After waiting nearly an hour total, only one martini arrived. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the excessive wait, and even getting the check took forever. Brass Monkey used to be a fun spot, but after waiting almost an hour for drinks, I’m very hesitant to return unless service improves.
Unfortunately I would love to give this place a higher rating however the experience me and my partner had going here was completely terrible. The atmosphere and the location is great, love that they do have parking however they do not validate you do have to pay. It was our first time visiting this bar we went on a Saturday fairly early as well. When we arrived the guy working at the door was extremely rude (heavier set gentleman with long hair- very sweaty and aggressive). We were trying to explain to the gentleman that was our first time there and that we were here to just check out the bar. He told us that we needed a reservation because it was karaoke. He was not very good at explaining what was going on that night and clearly should not be at the front of house if he gets frustrated with dealing with new customers, being that it was our first time we were a little confused we were just there to check out the bar, after him haggling with us and being very rude he eventually let us in and told us that it was a two drink minimum and that we were not allowed to sit at any tables. After getting in we were just excited to just grab a drink, upon arriving to the bar the bartender not sure his name but he does wear a face mask seems to be an older gentleman was very rude as well and seem to get frustrated when we asked about the menu and what kind of drinks they had I did have to explain to him twice that it was our first time and we do apologize we didn't mean to seem like an inconvenience. We honestly finish our drinks so fast and got out of there So my final say is it is definitely a two-star experience the atmosphere is great but the hospitality and service is terrible being that I've worked in service industry myself you really need to train your staff on how to actually be hospitable because that is the purpose of their job. Just seems like you have a lot of angry people working there!
If you are going for karaoke I suggest that you keep your expectations low. The person running the karaoke station was awful at his job. My friend and I waited for like 2 hours for them to call us. It wasn’t very crowded but he kept calling up the same people. My friend spoke up to him twice and he finally got to sing one song. I was never called up for my song. It took a while to get a drink as well. The bartender certainly could have been more friendly and the bouncer at the door was the same as the other staff. It’s open until like 2am so that’s the positive part. Drinks aren’t too expensive either but the staff could be a lot friendlier and inviting. Keep your expectations low!
Honestly, the worst bar I’ve been to. We have a reservation for 10. They have a 2 drink minimum and the karaoke DJ is horrible. He was rude and misogynistic to my friends. We put in our song and after 3 hours, the DJ would only play their songs in exchange for a date with my female friends. Absolutely horrible. Never ever come here.
Nah im here rn and yall go literally anywhere else Edit: To elaborate, they complained that a 5+ group walked in?? And all the drinks were either too sugary and/or disgusting, personally left very disappointed
Went to brass monkey tonight for the first time and got ID checked at the door. They immediately sat us at a table without offering standing room and at the table there was a two drink minimum. When the server came he asked us for our order; we requested two dirty martinis and a pineapple juice (for someone who wasn’t drinking) and he asked us what else we wanted. I questioned if we needed to order all six drinks at once (two per person) which he said no, “I’ll come back in five minutes and ask you about the other drinks.” He made me give him a card to open our tab and walked away. The pineapple juice arrive immediately but we waited for 40 minutes and got no other drinks. I went to the bar to see what was happening and they told me they never received an order for dirty martinis and directed me to ask the server personally. He was with another table of about 10 people, so I waited for him to finish and told me he never put in the order for the drinks but would do so right then. Another 15 minutes went by and he came back with only one martini, not two. We asked for the check right then, which took another 10 minutes even though I saw him walking around with it in his hand avoiding our table. We left as soon as we could but it felt like we were being held hostage because I couldn’t get my card back. Martini was fine and bartenders were nice but don’t sit at the tables the service was horrible. Enter at your own risk.
If you are hear for a Karaoke Experience, run. Avoid this place like THE PLAGUE. Poorly executed operation of karaoke. The guy is not a real karaoke KJ. I won’t say anything aside from……just read the reviews of This place” and believe every word of those bad reviews. They are not lying. The people, the energy, the environment, the place….. complete DUMP! The only good part of the experience was leaving.
Visiting from out of town and hit up the brass monkey for karaoke. We arrived and the place was quite empty. People trickled in after us and managed to get their song up before ours. After 2 hours, I asked the DJ where my song was in the queue and he said "it'll come up when it comes up". We tipped $10 to try and speed things up, which he didn't even acknowledge. He was wildly unfriendly and overall, just terrible at his job.
Do not waste your time. Karaoke is impossible. Drinks are a scam, SO terrible and expensive for what it is. It’s like they closed their eyes making them and put whatever. They force you to order 2 drinks. Never heard of such a crazy rule. Service is terrible and the lady who works there at the bar has a terrible attitude. Rolls her eyes and speaks to you like you’re not a person. It’s just a nasty establishment.
This bar is terrible; we are waiting for more than 2 hours to sing a song, and the DJ just has preferences for people. The DJ would let his friends sing over and over and everyone else has to wait. My friend asked the DJ to play her song after two hours, and he said "No." I don’t recommend this place. Also, they tell you at the entrance that there is a two drink minimum, and every drink costs $9 at least. Probably the worst bar I have been to in LA. Stay away
