It is a nice atmosphere. The food comes out very fast. My waitress was Gracie. She was phenomenal. Give that woman a raise. I would have no issues giving her 50% tip every time.
We always eat there. Food is amazing. Service is fast and friendly. Well served plates and very home made. Never disappointed!
Jalisco is a casual dine-in restaurant w/full table service & bar. Not bland taqueria & text Mex. From seating to service we were highly satisfied. Loved the neighborhood location to grab a yummy meal on a casual day. Food was impressive. Tortilla chips were like store bought. They make great handmade, scratch tortillas, so it was odd they didn't fry up for chips? I would go back again next time in town.
Gets a little loud ,they get a lot of people who come to dine. Great food and service.
Great food, great service, and great atmosphere.
Some of the best Mexican food in town! However, I'm not crazy about the tortilla chips. The chicken enchiladas are delicious!
I have been eating at this spot since it was the old La Bodega. They are off the beaten path and so I forget that they are here sometimes. We went again after church on Sunday. We beat the rush and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was there almost as soon as we set down with chips and salsa. The waitress was very attentive and kept checking on us regularly. She was quick with any request and to refill the chips. The food never takes long to come out and it is always great. We have never had a bad experience here. We will be back. We highly recommend you give it a try.
We went to Autlan first and waited 15 minutes for our waiter to appear before we gave up and came here. I'm so glad we are here instead; the waitresses are happy and helpful and the food is great. Andrea took great care of us. Thank you, we look forward to returning!
Charro beans are only thing from my order that I would give a 4star. Could use more seasoning, spice & juice. All else was very tasty!
Forgot to take pictures but this is one of our favorite restaurants. Food is always great, served quickly, & the service is excellent! Def one of our go-to places for date nights!
Mmmm, delicious combination plate and wicked awesome enchiladas sizes! The refrieds, rice and guacamole were outstanding as well. Our server was very attentive, had very good timing. Definitely recommend this place! Easy to find right on Avenue Q. Only negative comments related to Covid safety: it would be better for all if people waited outside for seating; and if the restaurant capacity were held to 50 or 75%. The place was packed.
To me, the breakfast burritos! I need to try lunch, dinner but I can say, delicious for breakfast! Take it from gringo like me. Peace. Love. Tech & Taqueria Jalisco!
Food was delicious. Not gonna lie but the food here hit different from the other Taqueria Restaurants I’ve been too, My child & I enjoyed our visit. We will definitely come back again. For our first time everything went very well. I will travel here again soon. I will definitely recommend to come take your family or treat your self with some delicious food here. Lol beans brought back memories as a Hispanic this brought me back to my childhood 🥰 I was like wow taste good some other places doesn’t even have flavor. My child said it’s busin busin 🤣🤣🤣 IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN LUBBOCK DEFINITELY GO HERE !!!!!
My husband and I were looking for somewhere to stop and eat on our drive out of Texas and saw this as one of the nearby places to us. I wasn’t expecting much but boy was I impressed! Not only was the service on point, but our food was out in no time and it was fresh and delicious! We also ordered a Margarita on the rocks and a frozen beer Rita and the drinks were so good! Most places do not make a good margarita. I would definitely be a repeat customer if I lived in town.
Passing through Lubbock and stopped at Taqueria Jalisco. Excellent food, fast service, large portions, and above all, reasonably priced! Hope to stop again soon. Pic shows the T-bone Jalisco topped with sautéed onions and mushrooms, with a bacon-wrapped jalapeño and a double portion of guac. So good!
Excellent food, quick service, great prices
The atmosphere was great here with good music playing in the background. Went during lunch time and was seated quickly. Upon ordering my food, it took roughly 10 minutes to come out. The food was hot, delicious and savory!! I had the carne asada tacos! They were loaded up with carne and ultimately was able to make 8 tacos with the amount of meat included. Their Mexican rice was also delicious. Had some chips with salsa and cheese. The salsa wasn’t spicy but did have good flavor. The cheese was definitely delicious! Definitely need to try them out if you have not done so! I will be making a second trip back for some more good tasting food!
Food is great, we look forward to breakfast here every time we travel to Lubbock!
Absolutely enjoyed this place. Service was friendly, and orders came timely and the carne quisada was amazing!!!
Awesome Mexican food. If you're looking for great Mexican food for a reasonable price, then look no further. They have a wide selection to pick from. The waitresses are really good and friendly as well. The atmosphere is amazing too. Great place to eat. I'll be back.
Just left there. Was served excellent food by Sophia and given great service.
Very good food and service at a good price!
Very good food with big portions and amazing service.
Our server, Alondra, was amazing! Food was great. Environment was a little loud but it was super busy. Our first time here, definitely will be back when in Lubbock. ❤️👆🖤
Amazing food and super fast service
Pleasantly surprised that it was not the normal Tex-Mex offerings on their menu. The staff was very friendly and we only had a 5-10 minute wait in a late Saturday night. The restaurant was clean and enough spacing of the tables it didn’t feel crowded. The pinto beans were amazingly flavorful. The beef enchiladas with queso had a good choice of meat inside. The hot sauce was just a tad spicy for me. Would recommend and we would return.
Great food, friendly service, & reasonable price. The place was packed during lunchtime on a Wednesday! Would come back again 👌
I recently tried the chicken enchiladas and camarones empanizados (homemade-battered butterfly shrimp), and the food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for a delightful meal featuring both chicken and shrimp. The chips and salsa are complimentary.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ across the whole board. Kaylee was a superwoman of a waitress. They handled our party of 11 on a whim with minimal wait during peak lunch hours and our food came out hot, delicious, and blazing fast. Definitely a must-try if you're in the area!
Great food, Great Service. Place was packed, there is a reason. If I lived in Lubbock full time, this would be my go to for Mexican food.
There was a long line when I got there but it moved quickly. The service was excellent and when I received my order it was perfect. Try the Carne en su Caldo with limes.
In town with my dad visiting family and they happened to want to go here. My first time but it was well worth it. The food was amazing and the service even more so. Saturday nights fill up quick, but the wait was very short for us considering we had 10. I had the Carne Asada and filled up with that and the sides. Some of the best charro beans I've had! Definitely will be coming back again next time in town!
This place takes me right back to the amazing Mexican food I loved in California. Authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and perfectly cooked dishes. I have been looking for great Mexican food here and I finally found it. You can see why the parking lot is packed!
I absolutely love this place. I've been at least a dozen times and every time has been better than the last. I recommend the Fajitas Mexico it's the best thing on the menu! And of course indulge in the complimentary salsa and chips, it's the best you'll have in West Texas (other than your abuelita's)!
Quick seating, great service and yummy food!
My favorite spot in Lubbock! Service is fantastic and food arrives fast every time. We love breakfast here as well. Best Mexican food in Lubbock.
The service and the food were great. We had a party of 12 and there were still plenty of other customers but they wait staff did amazing.
I came here on a work trip, though ive been here several times during college at ttu. the menu is huge, the atmosphere is perfeeeect for A texmex restaurant, and the staff was unbelievably patient with me when I needed them to look up a receipt from my visit so I could reimburse my meal through work. we played a bit of phone tag,but they were able to get me my receipt with a patience and consideration you really dont find often in restaurant hospitality anymore, it seems. kudos, and thank you! :D
This was our first stop moving to town. One lady has become family to us, loving on our little boy like her own. Food is good. Service is top knotch. Love it!
Food is always very good , service is amazing. The only thing that might keep me from going back is the bar drinks have gotten way too high in price . I ordered 2 Michelada before we ate and could not believe they were $8.99 . I understand things are going up but wow , if I had 4 or 5 of those, I feel like 40 or 50 bucks is a little excessive price, it’s just one beer and a little Clamato. Maybe 4 or 5 bucks would even good price for those , but that’s what I think .
The food is always great here. I got the Mexican Fajitas and they were cooked to perfection. The skillet was still hot whenever I finished. We had one of the best waiters serve us and stayed attentive throughout our meal. Definitely come give this place a try.
Seating was quick, despite the crowd, the service was prompt and very professional. Me and my family loved every bite, and only left with rice and chips in our to-go box. Edit: came back today (nov 2025), the food is still amazing, the server this time is one of the best servers ive dealt with in a minute. Well worth the price, well worth every bite.
WOW!!!! This restaurant is amazing. The service was the best. We were seated right away and the waitress was very attentive and friendly. Food came fast and hot. I had the huevos rancheros and it was very flavorful, not bland at all. Avocado salsa was very tasty with just the right amount of spiciness for me. Prices are very reasonable. Just passing through but would love to try the dinner menu. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Lubbock. Thanks for the great food and service.
Amazing food and amazing service! This place truly deserves all the praise it gets. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and quick, friendly service that made me feel right at home. The atmosphere was inviting, and everything came out fresh and perfectly cooked. I ordered the Patrone Plate, and wow — it was absolutely incredible! The flavors were rich, balanced, and beautifully presented. It’s easily one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. If you’re anywhere near the area, this is a must-visit spot. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit!
We had a large party for dinner here around 5:30 on 5/15. We had reserved a table beforehand, so when we arrived, we were immediately seated. The staff were very kind and helpful and kept us swimming in refills, all while keeping track of all our orders. If you like cheese, the queso fundido was fantastic. I even put some on my fajitas, which were also amazing. They were so good that I forgot to snap a photo of them before consuming. The meat was tender and seasoned well, and the corn tortillas were soft and delicious too. Overall we enjoyed an excellent meal and had a good time!
This is a great authentic Mexican restaurant I found using Google Maps. It is very well liked by the locals. The food here was outstanding. The service was excellent. My server made great menu recommendations. Their salsa is great and they have a large selection of domestic and Mexican beverages. There is plenty of free parking in their large lot.
I love this restaurant! Whenever I am in Lubbock, it is my favorite! I usually order their Street Tacos but, today my friend and I both ordered Torta Pastor. It was delicious and filling. Packed with flavor! The salsa is great! Another trip was Shrimp Cocktail, Quesadilla (ala carte), and Guacamole!
The best Mexican food anywhere. I love the drinks, feel, and taste of this restaurant. My daughter attended Texas Tech. It's near here. The place is always packed. My first visit was enlightening. The food was great then and better the second time around. The food was so good til I couldn't pinpoint any one dish. I would drive hours to visit again cause my daughter graduated. Check out the video I posted. There are no food pics because it's in my stomach. My share and give this review 5 stars 🌟 Thanks.... enjoy this place
I had a great experience, if you want good authentic Mexican food, this is the place everything that was served was a large portion, I love horchata, and theirs was pretty good, served in huge oversized cup. I was visiting the city which is not too big but so far the food is outstanding.
Taqueria Jalisco provides excellent food and professional service. Our server went above and beyond with attending our needs and answering our questions. Accommodations were executed perfectly, and their recommendations were wonderful. I highly recommend dining at venues where the staff has personally tried everything on the menu to make recommendations. This place deserves each one of its five stars.

I will definitely be going back. I went around 7pm on a Wednesday and got set immediately. The staff was welcoming and attentive. I enjoyed the chips and salsa and a $5 house Margarita on the rocks, while I waited for my food. I had the Fajitas Mexico, it was delicious. Warning... the plate comes hot as Fajitas do. The chorizo grease was popping all over the table, my arms and clothes. However, that's a small price to pay for the happiness it will soon bring you.
Solid Mexican food, everything looked good on the menu, our food came out pretty quickly. Will definitely eat there again the next time we are in Lubbock.

Best Spanish rice in town; not overpriced; service was great, though you might have to speak a little Spanish.
The food was subpar. The salsa was so HOT you couldn't eat it. Will probably not go here again. I can get food this good or better at taco Bell

Not terrible, the customer service could be better but food is good but not consistent. The place is very loud and cramped.
I ordered the seafood parillada, which was overall good. The crab and shrimp were really tasty, but fish was kind of plain and dry. I also ordered a vampiro and was disappointed at it (taste really water down). Other than that, everything else was good. The staff were really attentive and kind.
We, a party of four, were disappointed with the food. Not everyone is a fan of jalapenos. It is not cool that customers are not warned that almost all the entrees include jalapenos. It is definitely not cool that one cannot order a caldo without jalapenos. At least the food was not overwhelmed with cilantro, which seems to be an issue in San Antonio. The live music was decent and the restaurant is beautiful. Really not impressed with the food, though, and that is a deal-breaker.

We were seated quickly. Our waitress was pleasant. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and my husband ordered menudo. He was disappointed in the flavor and it did not have hominy in it. My plate looked great when it came out, but when I picked up my first quesadilla it was soggy and wet. It was sitting in a pool of juice and was soggy and falling apart. The sour cream tasted powdery. The good part of the meal was the queso and chips. We won’t be returning anytime soon.
The food was exceptional. My partner and I really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, service can be worked on. When I am ready to check out, don't grab my card then set it down somewhere and go check on a few more tables. When you ask how I am doing, don't ask the question, then run off before I even get to say anything. Food I want to eat again, I hope the other servers are more up to the task.
Being from Houston Food was ok. I had better. Queso was truly not it. Tasted like it was out of a can. The rice lacked flavor was so bland. The cocktail I had didnt taste like it had any alcohol in it. When we first arrived we waited at the front to be seated for a good moment for some place that isn't even busy and for waitresses to be standing around and starring you down. Will not be back to this place but will give other Mexican restaurants a try.
told us the wait would be 30 then we waited over an hour. they kept telling us 15 more minutes. we saw tons of parties wait way less than us and get sat when they had the same anount of people. so inconsiderate and rude. if the service is anything like the host its terrible. been here before and food is not worth the wait
Went to have dinner with a coworker Thursday night. Woke up Friday feeling sick. Still went to work but by the end of the day I was throwing up in front of a classroom full of Kindergarteners. It's Sunday evening and I'm not sure if I can make it to work tomorrow. Have been sick the entire weekend 🤮🤢🤮 I definitely got food poisoning.
Review for Jaliscos Restaurant – A Wake-Up Call from a Former Proud Hispanic Patron I’ve visited Jaliscos twice in the past year (and numerous times over the last twenty) and both times I left feeling disrespected—not by the food, but by the atmosphere and treatment. As a Hispanic Texan, Navy veteran, homeowner, and social scientist, I’m no stranger to subtle microaggressions. But what I experienced here wasn’t subtle—it was a pattern. During my recent visit with my husband, we were greeted pleasantly by a waitress named Alondra. We initially spoke to our waitress in English, and everything seemed fine. Midway through our meal, she switched to Spanish—only with my husband. I tried to join the conversation in Spanish, despite growing up speaking mostly English, but was ignored. Moments later, a white family arrived and she immediately reverted to English with them, engaging warmly and attentively. When it came time to pay, I handed my platinum card—yes, a Latino with a platinum card—to the waitress. She returned, handed my husband my card, thanked him in Spanish, smiled, and walked past me without a glance or a word. Then she went straight to the white family behind us to continue chatting in English. I’m leaving this review because I had intended to tip her $100 for what I initially thought was great service. I believe in rewarding good service—especially as a Latino looking out for fellow Latinos. But respect is part of that service. Being overlooked, misread, and dismissed—especially in a space that should feel familiar and welcoming—is unacceptable. This isn’t just about one server. It’s about the culture you allow to persist. When your clientele openly joke about race and politics in ways that alienate others—especially Latinos—and your staff unconsciously reinforce those divides, it sends a message: some patrons matter more than others, even though we drove from Lubbock-Cooper just to show our support for Jalisco’s. At this point, I’m taking my business elsewhere—not because I expect perfection, but because I expect dignity. I would expect that kind of treatment at Abuelos, for example. It may not be flawless, but at least I know what to expect. Jaliscos, you had a chance to be better. Maybe nobody wants to ruffle feathers, but after being treated that way, as a tax-paying Lubbockite who served his country, I have no problem calling out your business. I hope you take this review seriously and reflect on how you treat all your guests—not just the ones who fit a certain mold. Signed, A well-to-do Latino who’s earned his place at the table—and won’t be ignored at it.
This used to be one of my favorite places to dine. However, the past few times I've gone to eat there, I was approached by a man in a wheelchair charging me for parking and asking for money. When I refused he cussed me out said if I park there again he will have me towed. Asked him if he was the owner, he said no. Most likely will never return. Too many homeless people asking for handouts in the parking lot
Went to eat there with the family. Good food but the amount of times you're going to get up by homless is ridiculous. I got cussed out by a man in a wheelchair for not giving him money. Then his tall white friend hit me up by the door with the same story. Just a warning if you go.
