Roxanne was such an amazing and attentive server. She really helped complete the vibe at the butterfly cafe with all of her amazing recommendations. I will visit this resturant everytime I am in the keys. I am a non seafood eater so I got the pork chops and they did not disappoint. I got the sode of risotto which was to die for, literally melted in my mouth! My husband got a seafood trio special and was in awe. The ceasar salad was wonderful and refreshing and the dessert was the perfect finishing touch. Everything was extremely wonderful!
This is second year in a row we have had a special dinner at the Butterfly Cafe. Food is amazing . Service is awesome. I had the scallops risotto. Yum! Really cool place for dinner. Like stepping back into a Hemingway house. Must stop on your Florida keys visit. Our waitress Jasmine waited on on both years we have gone. She is awesome.
We had a great family meal here while staying at Tranquility Bay. The food was good, and our server Michelle was fantastic. The highlight of the meal was their key lime pie, which was a unique preparation and truly remarkable. The next day we bought a key lime pie and realized we forgot to get whipped cream, I asked the hostess for some and she graciously brought me some from the kitchen. Good food, great ambience, and even better service. Highly recommend!
Very cozy and the food was delicious! The lemon pie was golden medal. This restaurant is inside Tranquility Bay Resort, with options to dine inside or outside.
Good service and a great night to eat on the patio. The snapper and mahi were both good and our server was very nice.
relaxing and romantic location with excellent American cuisine. I recommend the steak cowboy with on the side a great sauce and truffle fries. filet mignon is also very good
Beautiful place, mahi was great. Needs some music in the dining room. Great birthday experience.
We celebrated our honeymoon here. The food was outstanding, dessert was amazing, ambiance was romantic, etc. What more could we ask? Lacey was the most top notch server I've ever experienced. When you come, ask to sit in her section -- she'll treat you like you're her only customer
This place is awesome. Very nice for a night out. We went for my birthday, pricey, but worth it. He had the filet and I had the snapper. Flavors were amazing.
One of the best meals and environments I’ve ever had in the Keys. It was such a unique and beautiful experience all around.
Where do I begin..Gabby was amazing.... and of course you need your server to be great..first impressions are the best...the food was beyond amazing... we all agreed the key lime pie was the best in all of florida... I had a rocky start with reservations however the turnaround impelled me to give a five star because the overall experience was fitting!! Happy dining to you all! You will not be disappointed!!!
Nara at The Butterfly Cafe was a great server! And the food was outstanding! Beautiful views - a must see in Marathon!
Service was excellent, our server Michelle was fantastic. Food was amazing. Would highly recommend this place
My husband and I had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The food was delicious and fresh, and Gabby made the experience even better. She was warm, attentive, and clearly very experienced in hospitality, making sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. Thank you, Gabby, for your excellent service!
What a beautiful birthday dinner! Butterfly Cafe has such a calm atmosphere, which is why I was shocked a table of 8ish people were acting so obnoxious! They definitely had a few drinks before coming, and proceeded to laugh/scream so loudly through our whole meal. The entire restaurant was turning to look at them. Very rude, but didn't let it ruin our evening! I had the risotto and it was the most delicious dish I have ever eaten!
We had such a great experience tonight for our son’s birthday. The food, drinks, and service were all exceptional! They brought out Key Lime Pie for his birthday treat and it was AMAZING. Highly recommend!!
Thank you sooooo much for a delicious dinner, great staff and Special thanks to Flabia for ensuring our experience was perfect 🦋 Loved all the dishes and drinks! Definitely a repeat place! Thx !!
Absolutely incredible meal and experience from start to finish. The dining room was wonderfully appointed and just the right size. We shared the butterfly salad and shrimp cocktail to start, both were excellent and generously portioned. The rosemary and Asiago bread that followed were warm and fresh. I had the scallop risotto and it was incredible! My husband had the snapper and it was also delicious and generously portioned. The key lime pie was GREAT, so different with the frozen white chocolate mousse and Oreo crust. The timing of the dishes was perfect and our server was attentive but not overbearing.
We had a wonderful dinner at the Butterfly Cafe a week ago! A table outdoors on their beautiful back porch is a must! We ordered the Scallops & Cowboy - both amazing! Highly recommend the TDF dessert also, so very good! If lucky enough to have server Gabby, you’re in for a treat as she is great!
I found out about this place from my mother in law who lives down here. She ranted and raved about how good it was and she is one hundred percent right! The atmosphere is very classy. Sitting outside on the porch you afforded a beautiful view of the garden. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff were attentive and polite. Highly recommend you check this place out
We checked-in and went to the Butterfly Cafe for our first dinner. Randi took awesome care of us and made some great recommendations. We ordered the butterfly and key lime martinis and a sunrise cocktail. They were all delicious. For dinner, I got the coconut shrimp and my husband got the yellow tail snapper. We would both order our meals again bc we enjoyed them very much. And how could we pass up the frozen key lime pie. It was a great spin with a chocolate crust and frozen mousse on top. Excellent experience, definitely plan on coming back!
Me and my group of other 4 people parked on the hotels parking and entered the restaurant. We went on a Sunday at around 7:50pm it was a big space but only 5 groups or so were actually dining so we had no wait time. We ordered a around of drinks which were great. And they gave us 2 some rosemary bread and cheese bread to start with butter. The bread was fluffy and very good. For dinner we ordered the Seared Sea Scallops and jerk chicken. The Scallopea were amazing and perfectly cooked and the risotto was very nice. The jerk chicken was a little dry but still flavorful and tasty. For dessert we ordered the key lime pie which was delicious and made with real lime, but some may call it unoriginal because originally it was made with concentrated lime powder. We also got the raspberry sorbet which was good. The service was great and the waiter was kind and the ambience was calm and relaxing.
Delicious food, both for my baby, who had mahi mahi with mashed potatoes and vegetables; for my husband, seafood pasta; and for me, risotto with pesto and scallops. It was excellent. Unparalleled service, unbeatable drinks.
Absolutely perfect. These people go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Food was delicious.10/10 would definitely come back. It was a gorgeous evening
The food was surprisingly amazing - we certainly did not expect this elevated dining experience. The warm goat cheese appetizer had a complexity of flavors that was brilliant. Filet mignon cooked perfectly. Snapper had a lot of flavor. Risotto was delicious. The service was very professional and genuinely warm. Randi was our server and she was outstanding. The hostess/bartender was very hospitable - super nice. Highly recommend and would go back again when in the area.
I had a truly magical time at this restaurant. The highlight of my entire trip to the Florida Keys was my server Anthony. He is so beautiful and so amazing to be around it so friendly I had to come back again just to see Anthony Anthony should get a raise because he is so good at his job and he’s very handsome. Thank you.
My wife’s filet mignon was cooked to perfection, rare and juicy. My alfredo was delightful.
Anniversary. Server was very attentive, entrees were nicely portioned, we'll presented, and delicious.
Excellent!! Beautiful restaurant at Tranquility Bay resort. Highly recommend! This is the best restaurant we’ve eaten at in marathon. I was able to make a reservation and they even called me personally to confirm. We were greeted by the friendly staff in the beautiful dining room, off the main lobby. It’s not a “cafe”, it’s a really nice restaurant with delicious food and excellent service in an upscale resort on the bayside. Our server Gabby was so sweet and friendly and we enjoyed our conversations with her. We took pictures near the restaurant overlooking the gorgeous gardens and pool. Then we walked down the pathway to the beach for sunset pictures. There’s a cool tiki bar and tons of outdoor games for kids. The community has beautiful townhomes We were served our drinks, appetizers very promptly and then later our salads. Our entrees were incredibly delicious and beautifully presented!! We enjoyed everything from the gorgeous location, excellent service and delicious food! If you’re looking for a wonderful evening kmg and more upscale then the outdoor seafood bar restaurants, definitely go to the butterfly cafe!
This place was delicious and we loved our food. The scallop plate was full of flavor and very gourmet. The the starter bread and butter was a warm chewy goodness and the outside crust was crispy. The tuna appetizer was so tasty and the quality of food was great. They were able to accommodate us right away with no reservation. Very classy atmosphere. The warm date caramel cake was fantastic! Service was a little slow but we enjoyed this place.
The food was divine and Janet is an asset to Butterfly Cafe and a master of her craft, thank you for making it an incredible experience.
Wow! Great restaurant, quiet atmosphere. I would have liked a wine list of older wines also. I had a 2024 Ken Wright Pinot that was too young.
Great drinks! Great food! Amazing French onion soup. Perfectly cooked ribeye and smooth and delicious mashed potatoes. Live in Summerland so I’ll be back often.
Absolutely amazing dinner. Our server, Jannet, was one of the best servers we’ve ever had. My wife and I stopped in on the tail end of our trip for a date night and we couldn’t be happier. All of the food was amazing, the wine was fantastic, and we would 1000% come here again. Amazing!
Butterfly Cafe completely exceeded our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and taken care of like VIPs. Our server was absolutely excellent — attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. The food? Exceptional. Every bite was flavorful and clearly crafted with care. You can tell they use quality ingredients and take pride in what they serve. What truly stood out was the customer service — unparalleled. The entire team went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable dining experience. If you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and make Butterfly Cafe a must-stop on your list. We’ll definitely be back!
The food was good, the dessert was delicious, the service was great, would not recommend sitting outside, mosquitoes are terrible. A little pricey, but overall a great birthday dinner. Would go again just for the dessert, the crème brûlée was to die for.
Nice staff, nice location, food was ok but I’d say a bit expensive. The cafe is inside the main entrance of tranquility bay resort. We stayed at the hotel and dined here one night we were not super hungry. Everything was cordial and nice… not amazing. Not bad. Just a decent experience. YEMV.
Absolutely no complaints about this place. The food was good, I sampled the crab soup special, the shrimp cocktail (a lil small but good), the lamb chops, and the yellowtail snapper. Family members enjoyed a very nice berry salad, filet mignon, coconut shrimp, and scallop risotto which they all enjoyed. The desserts were very good, so don't skip that!
Really nice place to have dinner. I definitely recommend reservations. Our food was delicious, and the creme brulee was one of my favorites . Our server Denise was amazing, offering great recommendations and overall service. The Ahi Poke appetizers was amazing!!!! I got the Scallop Risotto, I loved it and my husband got the Grouper, he said it was good but not the greatest. We originally had a table outside, but I started to really get eaten by the bugs, but thankfully they were able to accommodate us to an indoor table. Otherwise it might have turned into a whole different evening. In the small amount if skin i had exposed in my ankles (i had jeans on) and arms i have quite a few welts. The view and atmosphere was beautiful and overall a good experience.
I have been to this restaurant many times in the past, although not for many years. This last trip there sadly was beyond disappointing. We go here for two things: fresh fish and homemade key lime pie, both were not available on our visit. The only exceptional highlight were the alcohol drinks. Unfortunately this will be our last trip there. Try somewhere else for quality dining at this price point.
The service was probably the best part. Hostess, waitress and SA's were all very sweet and attentive. The food wasn't anything crazy, don't get me wrong it was good but nothing special. A flower is not necessary on every dish. The atmosphere was good but it is at a hotel so expect lots of foot traffic and children. If you're looking for a fine dining experience go to Pierre's, Ziggie & Mad Dogg's, Chef Michael's; you might spend less money too. Total ticket was $227 for 2 people.
The butterfly cafe is a beautiful dinner room. So beautifully decorated and lit. Unfortunately your experience will be somewhat ruined because of service. The hostess rolled her eyes at us when we asked for a seat change. I came back the next day for dessert, mind you the restaurant was EMPTY. I asked to be seated at a booth instead of table. She sighed and told us "You did this to me yesterday, next time make a reservation so we know." Know what? I didn't appreciate that commentary at all. Finally sat and had a different waiter, forgot her name, who was so nice. They could do so much with this restaurant, up the ambiance. I was so excited to sit there during my stay at Tranquility Bay, but turned off by service. Nonetheless the toffee cake was DELICIOUS. If your staying at the resort your should give it a try.
The service was outstanding, It was the best part of my dinner. The food was ok, flavors in filet mignon were not surprising, also the pasta was plain, I had a big expectations about the menu, we ordered different options, entrees, steak, sea food and pasta and any of those were flavorful for the price we paid. They can make a better job in the kitchen, the place is stunning quiet and if you sit outside be aware that at night there is a bugs.
Nice upscale restaurant with limited menu. Food is good, not great. Prices are pretty steep for average food. On the plus side it is much quieter than many restaurants in the keys and the service is very good. They do avoid non tipers by placing an 18% gratuity on your bill.
It’s a real shame about this place because the atmosphere, the location and the service were amazing. Sadly the food was not. My son’s crab stuffed hogfish was pretty good but the rest of us (4 others) it wasn’t so great. My salad was mediocre, my husbands food was also meh! Not worth the premium price point. It’s also sad how none of the kids meals we’ve had in the Florida Keys have been served with any vegetables.
Delicious food but poor service. We were the only patrons that had to wait over 2 hours to have dinner.
The restaurant inside and terrace areas are nice, however, the average of each dish is $49-50 which based on what we had seems overprice for the quality of the food. I had the “signature dish” the risotto with scallops $55 and the dish was 60% sauce , 4 tiny scallops and the rice was hard + the broccolini was so hard that I was not available to eat it. I don’t mind paying the price if the food is worthy. My husband had the seafood pasta, seafood was few items and the rest was just the pasta with sauce for $42. Definitely I would suggest to find other option for dinner in the area.
We booked the Valentine’s Day special through an email from the on campus resort. The ad was $125 / person 3 course meal with $5 wine. We were seated near the back of the porch and away from the nighttime ambience, and we also heard the kitchen / wait staff talking badly about other customers. Our waitress was very nice, but the food was only decent for the price - $360 dollars. 2 appetizers, 2 pasta dishes, and 2 of their mini cake dessert servings - about 2 times more expensive than was justified. We were charged for our waters, charged 20 dollars for the 1 glass of what we presumed to be $5 dollar wine, and automatically charged for tip. It was a very nice setting and nice dinner, just obscenely expensive for a corner table with okay food.
we ordered the Tuna Napoleon- some pieces of tuna were very fishy. Scallop Risotto: The risotto was very undercooked Panko crusted Grouper; Fish was frozen and tough. We had a couple of bites and ended up sick the next day. We did eat the scallops which tasted great. Not sure if that’s the reason we got sick. Terrible experience. For a $50+ plate this is unacceptable. The staff was not accommodating or understanding.
Absolutely horrible to be honest. My wife and I both got seafood pasta dishes. The shrimp, mahi and the two scallops we received in our dishes were all over cooked. The mahi had absolutely no flavor. Extremely overpriced for what we received. The service was very good however.
