Plaza Grill

The Plaza Grill is a small restaurant open only for dinner in Marathon Key. This restaurant is unique. It is not a typical beach bar atmosphere. There is a good wine list. The options on the menu are superb and not as extensive as other restaurants that specialize in offering the typical fare found in the area. The number of tables are limited. Reservations are a good idea. The night we visited we sat at the bar and sampled several menu items along with glasses of Quilt Cabernet. The caesar salad was superb. The lettuce was fresh, the dressing was perfect. The coconut shrimp was perfect and had a delicious flavor. Our server, Alexandra was friendly and knowledgeable. For a good high end restaurant in Marathon Key that stands out from the rest, consider this option.

Drinks are amazing, food is first class and ambiance is nice (no loud music). Great service and great food! Amanda behind the bar is fabulous!!! She can make any drink for you 😊 and they are all awesome. We live locally and come once a week for a nice dinner, a cocktail or two and more often for the wonderful company! Must try for craft cocktails and fine dining in the keys!

Wife wanted steak and lobster on our last night visiting the keys and the other place had an hour and thirty minute wait. We decided to give this place a chance as they said they had seating available and I'm glad I did. As upscale as it appears externally and internally, the overall vibe of the place is warm and alive, not pretentious like I'm used to seeing in prime steak eateries in the Orlando area. There's conversation, laughter, etc. The wait staff were absolutely wonderful at accommodating us and our two children and gave my 4-year old all the attention from strangers that she craved. There's no kids menu but side orders of pasta and a protein are perfect portions for little ones. The Filet and Cowboy ribeye were cooked perfectly (medium rare obviously) and were juicy and tender. I shamelessly picked every piece of meat off the bone. Lobster was buttery and tender. It genuinely took me by surprise to have fine dining with the same ambience you'd find at any local beach side restaurant. It is pricey but I've found that other restaurants down here are charging similar prices for subpar, dubiously prepared food. I'll make it a point to eat here again next time we're down in Marathon. Really nice clean restaurant! Great food! All USDA Prime steaks! Good seafood can come sorta cheap and easy in the keys. Steaks and nice restaurants? Not so much. If you want a nice meal and a great steak this is it! Their seafood is great too, coconut crusted lobster app, etc. but the Tomahawk Ribeye stole the show!

AMAZING! Everything about this place was simply AMAZING from the food, drinks, staff, and atmosphere. Staff is very educated, friendly, and helpful and fun. Highly recommended!

Been vacationing in Marathon Key for years and we Marathoners have been in need of another great place for dinner! The Plaza Grill is elegant, with a chill vibe, a strong menu, and a great bartender. We had lobster bites, a rare sirloin, an excellent wine, and a couple of perfectly dirty martinis. It was a great night. The customer base was slow because the Grill is still new and Marathoners stick with what they know, lol. Highly highly recommend we pack this place and show the local small business owners who had the guts to start it that we appreciate the incredible work it takes to pull off such a fine place for us to enjoy.

We had a fantastic experience at the Plaza Grill. There was a 50% off wine glasses promotion from 5:30-6:30 when we went, and we quite liked the Pinot Grigio. We ordered the little neck clams and tuna tataki as appetizers - both were fabulous and I liked them better than my entree! Our table had the coconut crusted snapper, NY strip, chicken parm, and I ordered the cowboy ribeye - all were very good. I tasted some of the snapper and it was cooked to perfection with a tangy mango salsa on top. For dessert, we ordered a molten lava cake (though it was mostly solid) topped with espresso chip ice cream and a slice of key lime pie - an NY style cheesecake with blueberry compote is also available. The pie had a strong lime flavor and we enjoyed it very much. I would definitely recommend the seafood from this restaurant, as I found my steak to be a little overcooked, but still very tasty. Just pull d into town on the 15th of March White buckle driving the whole way and I was starving ordered the Scallops Rissoto and a Paloma Both were perfect ( See Photos) they tasted as good as they looked the service was awesome I didn’t catch the young lady behind the bar name but she welcomed me to Island living with a beautiful smile and excellent service A little pricey but it was well worth it the food and drinks were awesome Well Done to everyone one there

Best meal we had in ALL of Marathon. The service is impeccable, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and area! The food was absolutely perfect…..and delicious! Drinks were chilled to perfection, strong and refreshing. Can’t wait to come back next year!

We have been coming to the Plaza Grill for over 12 years now ( almost every week) and I must say, every experience has been phenomenal. The food is outstanding, the service is amazing, the servers and bartenders are the very best you will find anywhere. Nevin is always at her very best, always makes sure you have everything you need and that your feed is perfect, always has the most amazing smile on her face and the best conversations. Mike (bartender) always delivers the most amazing drinks especially my chocolate martini & will even tweak it so that it's even more amazing. He always has a smile on his face and greets you when you walk through the door. Malva, is amazing, always greets us with her great smile and a warm hug. The kitchen is very detailed and listens to whatever it is you like. When we come to the Plaza we feel like we are visiting family.♥️♥️ A must try 👌

I've been coming to Marathon for almost 10 years. How did I never know this place was here. Tucked into the end of a strip mall, I always thought this was a place to get sandwiches. What a pleasant surprise when we were told it was a fancy restaurant. We gave it a try and everything was simply amazing! The service, the food, atmosphere (small and intimate) ...everything! The server was so pleasant! Definitely a high end place that we will visit again and again now that we know about it.

Phenomenal meal at the best restaurant in Marathon, Florida. The surf and turf was out of this world and the service was superb. They really have it all down and they make it look easy. The best meal we had in the keys by far! 5 stars!

We had an excellent meal celebrating a birthday. The food was very flavorful and prepared perfectly. The filet mignon with the house au jus was buttery and savory. The hogfish and risotto was also excellent.

Excellent food and service. My husband had the lobster and I thoroughly enjoyed the clams. We were recommended to go here by our guide at Crane Point Hammock. It was well worth it. Almost the best food we had on our trip down through the Keys.

We sat at the bar and had a great experience. The drinks were made perfect, the food was cooked to perfection, and with an open kitchen concept the atmosphere was just what we were looking for. A Intimate setting with staff that pay attention to the details. We loved it! 10/10 Great!

My husband and I live in Marathon and just visited the Plaza Grill for the second time and we’re absolutely obsessed. The food is so phenomenal and was just as amazing this time as the first. I had the 8oz filet and my husband had the surf and turf - we both agree this is our all time favorite steakhouse. Absolutely no complaints. Along with the delicious food, we were so happy with the ambiance and service as well. Both times, our server was Nevin - she was so sweet and so attentive. We really couldn’t be happier here and would recommend it to anyone passing through!

It was a very slow night for them. I ordered blackened Hogfish over risotto. It was so good. I mean melt in your mouth! Unfortunately the portion was so much, I could not finish it. Not sure why this place is not packed. I’ve eaten everywhere else in Marathon. This might be my best meal.

Found this hidden gem and highly recommend it! We didn’t have reservations and they were happy to accommodate us. Food was excellent, our server Elizabeth was out of this world. Our daughter was treated like the most important customer with her order! Dessert was worth finishing every last bite! This was the best meal we had while in the Keys!!

This restaurant is the STAR of Marathon. Only the freshest and cleanest food is served here. The Owner Malva is very attentive and professional. Out waitress Daniella was super attentive as well providing amazing service. All of the food and cocktails we had were absolutely amazing. The number one restaurant in the Florida Keys for exceptional food and amazing service. ⭐️😍

We were a party of 4 and the atmosphere was wonderful, service was very welcoming and the food absolutely delicious. One of the owners greeted all the customers by going table to table. The experience was so great we made reservations for the second time. Thank you

This is wonderful. Great food, wonderful staff in a beautiful atmosphere. The food is New York style bistro and deliciously prepared. What a wonderful find all tucked away. When you leave, everyone feels like family. I would recommend to everyone.

Seriously one of the BEST Cheeseburgers I’ve EVER had around the world. It alone is a 9.5/10 …. but if they could get the fries even better it would be perfect!!

We made a reservation, so there was no wait for our table. The service was great, our waitress was friendly. The restaurant was clean and decor was nice. The food looked delicious, but it was just ok.

I ordered a medium steak and got well done. They tried again and they brought me rare, tried again same piece of meat and still rare. I tried to have faith. But no luck. 65$ a steak and no one asked why I only ate the outside and threw it away. Our bartender Daniela was amazing though. Wouldn't come back.

My husband and I are on our honeymoon and we chose to eat here for dinner. The food was alright, and our server was phenomenal, but the owner’s wife was an issue. While we were waiting for our check, we watched a young man come in and give a job application to the bartender. She waited until he left and said to the bartender “was he American?” and the bartender said “yes” and she made a face and threw the application away. It immediately ruined the experience and if it wasn’t for the fantastic service of our waitress, we wouldn’t be coming back at all. We confirmed that the woman was, in fact, the owners wife with our waitress before choosing to leave this review. Just be advised that what you say within ear shot of customers can make or break the experience. Side note, my husband and I both ordered drinks … his was too strong, mine was too weak. Just seemed like it was overall not worth the price.

This place was recommended by a friend and we gave it a try, the place is beautiful and the food looks good and drinks is amazing, we we’re enjoying our appetizer the lobster bites(very delicious) and saw cockroaches crawling on our table, our server is nice but he smells so bad, between cockroaches and over powering body odor we lose our appetite, I ask my husband if he smells it too and he said yes.

The food was good but not for the price, the server was a young lady who was truly kind and awesome. some guy dropped off his name and number for a job to the bartender and when the bartender showed the owners wife the application she made an ignorant look and threw the application away because he was American and they both joked about it like racism is cool, and they make the servers split the tips which is so unfair to the girl who was incredible at serving us, Me and my wife will not be returning here !

What a dreadful meal! I had the Risotto - big mistake, imagine a huge bowl of overcooked rice pudding with 4 scallops floating on top. Wine was awful, could not hear each other as the large table was so noisy, killed the atmosphere. Definitely not going there again- oh and expensive! There are way better places to eat in Marathon.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I have no idea who these good reviews are coming from (unless it’s the owner’s family to boost their business) overall the food was mediocre at best. However my $47 scallop risotto was absolutely disgusting! They were supposedly fresh. However they tasted like frozen heated in a microwave. Gross!! When we told them they only took $25% off of some thing I never even ate! Ridiculous! Also the sodas served there are canned sodas for $5 per soda. You have a bar and serve canned drinks??!! It looked so nice when we walked in and we had such high hopes only to be let down. We paid over $200 and didn’t even have dessert for our family of 4! If you want delicious food, tasty cocktails and dessert go to Steak & Lobster House. The food and service is phenomenal!! And for a family of 4 including everything you could want won’t be over $200!!

Possibly the only good thing about our experience was that it was air conditioned inside. For the money you can find way better food. $24 for a burger? My cocktail was good but also it was $20 for my old fashioned. My wife’s scallop risotto was awful. 6pm on a Thursday and we were the only people in there. The place looks nice inside but don’t let that fool you. The food is mediocre at best.

I have been to this plaza many many times my first time in this restaurant. I live in Fort Lauderdale I come here to get away. Today was my birthday I decided to go get a steak. I asked the bartender about the brie cheese appetizer. She said it’s mozzarella I said there’s a big difference between brie cheese and mozzarella and she just walked away! I had a glass of wine very small glass of wine they serve me for $18 tasted like crap out of a box. I was about to spend hundreds of dollars for my birthday I’m glad I only ordered a glass of wine I left never again
