Avis sur the Water Stop Marfa
Not only was the food delicious, the atmosphere was great! Loved the music selection (80s). Seriously, I had the chicken sandwich which disappeared in a flash. Husband had the grain bowl & devoured it. We highly recommend this place.
The Manager and employees so nice, the food delious we had bonless chicken wings and ribeye and the El Cadillac Margarita so good! And don't forget dessert!
The fries are delicious, thin and have a good crunch to them. The fried chicken sandwich also had a nice light breading fried to perfection.
We were in Marfa for four nights and we ate here three times for dinner. Not something we'd normally do, but this place is amazing and there weren't many other open places over NYE. My boyfriend loved the burger. They have a couple of vegetarian and vegan options. Excellent cocktails and patio.
This place deserves so much credit full stop, but especially in comparison with the rest of Marfa. They are so consistent and dependable when very few other establishments are - if they say they’ll be open, they will. Beyond that, their food quality is phenomenal. The staff are lovely and competent. The space is delightful.
We were passing through, and wanted a quick bite. I read all of the reviews here, the good, bad and ugly. We were seated immediately at 6pm, on a Saturday. Everyone was friendly, and our food came out quickly. My burger was flat out amazing. House made bun, cooked great and all of the flavors worked well. We had a cheesecake for desert. This was another home run.
This place was the perfect Marfa vibe. We started with the carrots appetizer which was AMAZING! We each had a frozen marg (smoked pineapple and prickly pear). Then we had the veggie burger with a salad. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect. I definitely recommend this place.
First time caller. The service was extraordinary, the food was supreme and you can never go wrong with drinks. As we had our cocktails, we watched the rotisserie chicken get roasted right on the patio, a great addition to the experience I’d say. I would like the opportunity to try their entire menu. Great spot for singles or families. Cheers.
Me and my group of four family members have been going here for a few years now, and we absolutely love it. The environment is chill for adults and children of all ages. Prices are great and the food is amazing. I can't say enough, especially about how good the cheesecake is. Drinks are always spot on as well. The staff is terrific.
Certainly a great place to eat. We sat on the patio. Cool and breezy. The atmosphere was enjoyable. Our waitress was flawless. Making recommendations when asked. We all decided on burgers, which were grilled to perfection. The fries were string fries, which were also cooked to perfection. Several diners had their dogs with them , which was fun. No disappointment here. Excellent!
A hidden gem in Marfa...truly a great find. A family own business that made you feel like family. ADA wheelchair accessible plus a puppy friendly shaded big patio...a restaurant side and bar side...plus ice cream. The food was amazing. The portions were impressive and delicious. The cheese cake felt like you were in New York..so big and delicious. They make a tea that used cardamom and it was good. They gave me the secret recipe and I am keeping it a secret. One of the best stops in Marfa. Photos included.
One of the best dishes I had in 2023! My boyfriend and I were in Marfa for one night before heading into Big Bend, and the Water Stop was actually our backup dinner option. Luckily, our first pick didn’t work out. We ordered the Rigatoni Alla Vodka and their seasonal soup to share. After one bite of the pasta I was no longer interested in sharing because it was so delicious. I don’t remember if the pasta came with grilled chicken or if I asked for it to be added, but it was juicy, tender and flavorful. The sauce was incredible and the cheese was a lovely texture. The soup was also tasty, but I was consumed by the pasta. This was on December 27, and with only 4 days left in the year, I can confidently say it was one of the best dishes I ate in 2023. The vibes are moody, the restaurant lit by candlelight and heated by a wood-fired stove. Super cozy and chill. They also have patio seating which I imagine would be great for brunch in the sunshine.
Lovely meal. And lovely queso dip ! Server was extremely helpful and friendly. We sat outside as we were with our dog and the patio is dog friendly they set the heater up for us without asking.
Great, relaxed place to eat. Fast, friendly service with burgers and a twist. Need just a little music. Update since last visit. They took off the beer/rita from the menu. Mistake we all said. The shrimp cocktail is large, hearty and flavorful. Little bite to it. The Vodka pasta is excellent. But the Grain bowl chicken needs to be changed, re-invented. Odd mix of flavors. Peanut sauce, but with a sauerkraut. Doesn't work. Need to put a mix of grains with flavorful veggies on bottom. No sauerkraut and a hearty flavorful sauce on top. If going to use a peanut sauce, may as well make it a Pad Thai style dish. Doesn't work. Prices have gotten a bit ridiculous. 17-19 for a salad? Bit much. Talk about gentrification and causing Marfa to implode on itself price-wise, this is it.
Pretty solid spot. The guacamole needed some help (salt + lime) but was still refreshing in the heat. The standout dish was the spring pasta...out of this world! I believe I've thought about the pasta since the day I had it almost two weeks ago. So, so delicious! Great outdoor patio area and cool space indoors. A bit of a walk from downtown but an easy bike ride.
The food was genuinely good and seemed fresh and flavorful. Unique twist on the Starr burger and fries hit the spot, the dip with chips was a nice touch. That said, it’s a little on the pricey side for being South West Texas. I get that Marfa attracts a different kind of crowd then most rural Texas towns do, so the prices and style make sense in that context. Service was just okay. It wasn’t rude, but it did feel a bit cold and detached more like something you’d expect in a big city than a small Texas town. Overall, good food and a decent experience, but a warmer welcome would go a long way in making it feel worth the trip. Maybe next time.
We had dinner, burgers with fries and beer. The place has a cool vibe, like most places in Marfa. The service was a little slow but okay, and the burgers were good. The fries were a bit too soggy for me, but some people like them that way. A little pricey for what you get, but overall the atmosphere made it worthwhile.
While the vibe and the food we had were great the service was absolutely inexcusable. We were seated and told that the bartender would be our server, well he never came to check on us and the person that seated us took our drink order. When he did come to gather our food order he seemed a bit annoyed that he had to be there. Asked for a second beer, never arrived. Finally we had to walk to the bar to pay and leave. I could excuse the prices for the food if the service hadn't been miserable.
Seemed like a really cool little place, I liked the vibe . My husband and I were in the area and decided to stop by for dinner. Sat for about 45 minutes, our order was taken for drinks and an appetizer. Never came. People that sat after us had both drinks and appetizers . Spoke to the waitress she seemed to have misplaced our order. So we just decided to leave. I understand it was busy. but the process for food ordering and customer quality service was a big negative on their part. Do not recommend.
First time at this establishment, were from out of town and wanted to try a local restaurant while staying a few days to go to Big Bend. Me and my wife saw this place while visiting and thought we’d try dinner here, we came back later that night and as we knew it was busy we gave it a try. The hostess was very nice and took our name down and told us it would be a few minutes before we would be seated. 10 minutes later we were seated which wasn’t bad, the next person to have interaction with was the server who was not very prompt but seeing as it was busy I understood. She TOOK our drink order and we ordered chips n queso. There were many parties of numerous people around us and as all of them started to order and get their food and drinks before us I started to wonder what was going on. I got with our server and asked if our drinks were on the way and she said she would check, she came back with 1 sweat tea which wasn’t not was we ordered, it was a margarita and Paloma, she asked what we ordered and I explained plus the starter, she looked at her order book and said “that’s weird I didn’t write it down” but yet I saw her wrote it down and also saw her take everyone else’s orders around us, we got there at 7 pm and sat 10 minutes later and so in all this 35 minutes we got no drinks no food, we politely got up and explained to the hostess we were leaving.
I had a very bad experience here, that might not be typical of their usual operation. They did have a particularly large party that was straining their staff. I was seated near the door that was wide open even though it was a particularly cold evening. I ordered chips and queso, and was surprised they didn't have salsa or anything to dip the chips in (which was frustrating because my food didn't come for over an hour after I ordered). The quality of the food was quite bad. The steak I ordered was not prepared anywhere close to what I asked for. Drinks weren't served in time to be enjoyed with the meal. The french fries were the limpest, oily-est things I've ever been served. And all of this for a $125 tab (one person). I don't live in Marfa proper, but an adjacent town. But I do consider myself a local by west TX standards. Overall, a really awful and expensive experience.
