Amazing brunch with my son. What I loved? The quiche was perfectly textured like a perfectly cooked dumpling and the sweet potato's chips best ever not drenched in grease and resembled more of a ruffles chip. We had the caprese as an appetizer and as we would expect and love firm ripe tomatoes and full basil leaves. Beautiful work. Keep it up please.
Looking for something new for brunch, we stumbled upon this place. It was a busy Sunday and it took a while for us to get seated. We sat at their outdoor front patio overlooking Main Street. Our food was great. Excellent pancakes. It is a downtown Mc Allen gem!
Chicken and waffles….. tha bomb!!! So good… i mean like so good… the most perfect waffle, then topped with this crispy yet oh so tender chicken…sorry but it cannot be beat. And the staff is always so nice, so friendly… i would recommend this place in a heartbeat… don’t care for chicken and waffles? Then try the avocado toast, the big birdie breakfast or the steak and eggs… and their salsa is amazing… 10/10
I’m not from McAllen and came across this spot online, and wow—I’m so glad I did! I wish I had taken a picture of my lechero coffee, but it was so good I completely forgot—LOL! I ordered the steak and eggs (medium) with poached eggs and a side of hollandaise, and oh my gosh… everything was amazing. The flavors were spot-on, the potatoes had this uniquely delicious taste, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The service was outstanding—my server just knew exactly what I needed today. I even tried the house tea, and he kindly made it iced for me. I sat outside, and the weather was perfect for enjoying my breakfast and a FaceTime call with my boyfriend while visiting from out of town. Such a great experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back!
This little gem located in downtown McAllen off of Main Street is an excellent choice for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Cozy vibe with plenty of seating inside and out. Nice choices on the menu and their coffee is 🤌🏼excellent. Every dish we ordered was delicious, cooked to order, and well presented . Wait staff was very attentive. British tea shop decor is a nice touch.
We had lunch here. It’s a small, cozy place and the service was a bit slow during our visit. However, the food was very good. I had their version of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich (Gaucho sandwich) and the bread was incredible. It was definitely one of the best sandwiches that I’ve ever had. The waffle fries were very good, too. My wife had their sirloin shish kabob with wild rice and said she enjoyed it, as well. It gets pretty packed, so you may have to wait a while but the food definitely makes it worth the wait.
This place is so adorable the atmosphere was amazing. You can choose from an outside sitting area or you dine inside. The wait staff was very attentive, and kind. Both my friend and I enjoyed some mimosas as well, they were delicious. Overall I'd recommend this place to anyone willing to listen.
Really good spot for brunch. Decent food and the sangria was delicious. The wait time on getting the food was a bit long, especially for just 2 people but the place was also fairly busy. The outdoor seating is great, can't wait to try the upstairs balcony seating and other items on the menu
I've wanted to dine here for quite some time; I finally ventured out on a very chilly Tuesday afternoon. It was crowded with the sounds of happy friends reuniting. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Our table of 3 all ordered different things and we were all satisfied with our choices. Since it was crowded, we didn't have anyone checking on us, and we found we needed to grab someone's attention for more water and the check. That was OK as the conversation was flowing. I would say they could have turned tables faster if they brought the check earlier, but I felt it was more of a European experience, where you have the table until you ask for the check. Charming place with good food!
Walking in, the atmosphere automatically makes you feel as if you are in another state of being. The decor and setup is absolutely cute and the server who attended us, Noe, was so friendly and helpful. Being our first time, Noe went above and beyond to get to know us and help decide what to order. Coming from out of town, we will definitely be back, or only for the ambience, but because staff like Noe make a business that much enjoyable.
Came here with my sister for the first time today; amazing place! From the vibes, to the staff, to the food - such a great place! The staff is so nice & welcoming. It was a little packed inside so we sat outside but that wasn’t a problem with this chilly weather. Sister was craving breakfast so she chose chicken & waffles & I got a chicken salad sandwich. Everything came out super good! Even the mimosas 🥂😋 Can’t wait to visit again; hopefully we can get to sit inside 🫣🤞🏼 Definitely recommend!
We ate lunch here on a busy Saturday around 12:00 and there were a LOT of people. That to me is telling how good the food is. And it IS! We were a party of 6 so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We walked next door to a antique shop and shopped until they called us on our cell phone. They offered us a table upstairs so we sat where it was kind of hot & breezy, but they had fans going. It was still a pleasant lunch even with the heat. The food was AMAZING and well worth the heat and the wait. We ordered 2 plates w/omelets, 2 plates w/croissant sandwiches, eggs Benedict, and chilaquiles. I got to taste a bit off each plate (we are family and share!), and I can say each plate’s main dish was very delicious! We paid about $14-17 per plate not counting our drinks, but for the quality of food it was very affordable. I would recommend taking a date, family, or friends here! You won’t be disappointed!!
I was craving some good sweet potato fries, and I remembered that Birdie Bistro serves high-quality food. My best friend and I went on a Saturday afternoon, around 1:30 pm, and let me say, it was quite busy. We didn't have much hope of getting a fast sitting; however, the nice hostess was able to find us a two-person table on the balcony of the second floor. The view from the second floor: nice. My best, and I got to have the chance to people watch while conversing and waiting for our food to arrive. Our server, the most enthusiastic person ever, gave us very good service by providing us with different options of drinks, offering additional recommendations for our food, and his humor gave us a nice waiter and customer interaction experience. I got the sourdough turkey and avocado sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries, and my best friend got chicken alfredo with a side of garlic bread. Although we arrived during their considered busy rush hours of the restaurants, what didn't work out for me was that only our waiter and another waiter were assigned to assist on the second floor. At times, no waiter would be on the second floor, or one waiter would be catching up to all the tables' assistance. I understand the waiter's hustle and commitment to giving the customers the best experience! What worked out best for me is the location. The restaurant is a few streets away from Downtown and there are plenty of parking spaces to use while visiting the restaurant. There are plenty of walkable areas around the restaurant with some small businesses close to it as well. Overall, I would really recommend this place to try out for brunch-related gatherings. The staff are very friendly, the food is really good with a lot of options to choose from, and the interior and exterior design of the restaurant is very pretty.
We had a fun experience at Birdie Bistro. A lot of atmosphere thanks to their decorations. Service was great, very friendly staff. The food was good, the only negative feedback is that I wish the coffee drinks tasted more like coffee, my mocha latte tasted like hot cocoa, it didn’t taste bad I just couldn’t taste the coffee. We really enjoyed eating here, recommend for dates, friends/family brunches
It was a so-so experience overall. I wanted to like it because it was super packed with people, so I assumed it was a great place to be for a weekend brunch. However, the food and drink were so average or subpar, particularly for the prices. There is nothing I tried here that would ever make me want to come back, although the patio area was lovely. The service was good, so they have the right wait staff. The food did not taste fresh. The chicken strips tasted like frozen ones. The waffle was dense and flavorless. The tea jug was watered down. The pasta had a decent taste to it. The cuisine standards in the RGV are low for non-Mexican food, so these types of places are usually packed without a care for the very basic food offerings.
Let me start by saying that the flavors of the food were great, but unfortunately it was served cold. After being sat it took a long time for someone to get our drink order. We were approached by 5 different people throughout our visit, and I have no idea who our waiter/waitress was. One took our drink order, one delivered drinks, another one took our food order, and someone else delivered the food. After the food was delivered no one came to ask us if we needed anything else, or checked in. My husband had to flag someone down to get a fork because there wasn't enough utensils for 2 people on the table. I thought it might have been us because we had a slightly fussy baby, but it didn't seem like anyone else was getting very good service. I was never offered a high chair for my 1 year old. My water ran dry and I was never offered or given a refill. Someone came to ask if I wanted a plate removed once my husband finished ( he had gotten up with the baby and I was still working on my food), and when I said yes she took my plate from me, and cleared the table. I wasn't finished eating. After the table was cleared, I sat there with an empty table for at least 10 min while my husband was still outside with the baby. I literally had to stare at someone sitting behind the register to get someone to finally come ask me if I needed anything so I could ask for the check. I had high hopes for the place, the decor was cute and very girly, but the service was so disorganized and left much to be desired.
The server Lucero was so rude to my grandma! My grandma is an old person that needs patience & the server was annoyed when my grandma took a while to seat down, the server told my grandma if she didn’t like the table ? My grandma which has dementia said no and said something out of the blue like I am waiting for another person and the server said “YOU DONT THINK THIS IS ENOUGH FOR 3 PEOPLE” annoyed and proceeds to take the order for drinks then annoyed still took the order for drinks only then took HOURS to come back she ignored us and never took our order for the food ! We had to call the owner to take our order and she then finally came back and brought my sister and I our food but left my grandma for last !! So sad that she took resentment against my grandma without knowing the situation! We didn’t feel welcome at this place and we won’t be back !! Don’t let tik tok fool you ! It’s not spacious at all and servers are rude !!
