My friend and I got here right before it was going to close just to catch up and grab a bite. They were nice enough to seat us and still serve us. The waitress Marci was so courteous, the food was delicous and came out to perfection. The drinks were also 👌 🔥. Thank you so much for your kindness. It gave us a couple of minutes to catch up with a delicious bite to go with our conversation.
Restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere and we were seated immediately. Menu offers a variety of dishes so if you’d like to try something new this is definitely the place to go.
This is my first time dining here. The service is good, the food is delicious. This restaurant is one of my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. There are many parking in this area but if you come in at dinner time, the parking availability is limited.
This place was very clean and the staff was very accommodating. I couldn't finish the awesome dish ordered. Definitely leftovers for the next day and found it to be reasonably priced. Tip: Ask for extra napkins... or maybe an adult bib! Ha!
Excellent food! Great customer service, the waitresses are always smiling and bring your food out quickly. The prices will not drain your checking account! There is so much flavor in each bite. I would absolutely recommend this place! It's a must try!!!
We were traveling and looking for someplace to eat and stumbled upon this hidden gem in Merced California. They were pretty busy when we arrived around 8:20. They close at 9:00 yet we never felt ignored at all. Our waitress was super attentive and made time to get special requests. Very good service and everything including our soft drinks were delicious!!! 10/5 stars if I could rate it that way. This will be our go to restaurant whenever we are in Merced. 👍👍👍
Good experience at Agaves this evening. For a Friday night, they were not too busy and the wait to be seated was fairly short. The service was good. Servers were attentive and checked in often. It was a simple meal consisting of asada nachos and rolled tacos. Both were hot and delicious. The rolled tacos had a hefty amount filling, which can be hit or miss depending on the restaurant.
Updated review: This place has obviously upped their game. Great Mexican food? Check Fantastic service? Check Outdoor seating? Check And as a bonus you get your monies worth in the food and the drinks are really good. Honestly can’t wait to come back and try more. Old review: As authentic Mexican food as you can get. A great menu with lots to choose from. Prices are pretty reasonable.

Holy cow they have the best fajitas I have ever had. The shrimp was huge and plentiful. Also the service was pretty great. Extremely accommodating. Made my pregnant butt happy 😁
The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere is kind of plain. No Mexican atmosphere.
The chicken molcajete was delicious!! The molcajete and a mixed fajita plate were more than enough to feed our group of three. Everything was hot and fresh!

Good solid choice for Mexican. Not amazing, but solid. However the service was excellent.
Very clean... Friendly and polite. Ordered beef fajitas and beef quesadilla. Very flavored meat and the green bell peppers perfect crisp and char to it. Would recommend to eat here. Quick service and delicious.
I called to order take out the lady that answered wasn’t very good at communicating. When I arrived my food was waiting for me and it was delicious. The portions were great. I wanted extra chips and salsa and I only got a tiny bag but it was my first time there so maybe next time I can figure out how to get more chips
Good food and good prices, flavor is good, I ordered a breaded fish it was ok, great flavor. My husband ate a burrito it’s super big and cheap.

I was craving Molcajete, and it made me never crave one again. The workers were really nice, but the food not at all. It was wayyyy to sour and had basically small little chicken bites in it. Do not recommend!! I disliked it so much that I had to get full with the beans and rice :(
While visiting family here, we decided to hit up this spot for lunch. I have mixed feelings about it. Pros: -Food had good flavour -Waitstaff was friendly enough -Big portions -Accommodated a special request Cons: -Cramped space for our party of 8 -The menu doesn't fully disclose the correct pricing. Example: I was charged $18 for a burrito, but the menu said $13. I was charged $8 for a standard flour taco (no rice or beans on the side, but the menu price was $7. -No complimentary refills on chips and salsa (is that a normal thing in CA?) I think this is a more americanized mexican restaurant. I think I expected a bit more.

Was not pleased with the experience I had here. Rice was cold, guacamole had black spots. Took forever to get extra napkins. Waitress has selected hearing. I had a better time and food from a taco truck.

I need to update my review of this place. My daughter and her friend eat here after work and they both got food poisoning (9/24/25). I would avoid this place even if it was the only Mexican restaurant in Merced. I came here for lunch with my daughter and it took the 15 minutes to get the order and almost 20 minutes to get our food. The food was regular and flavorless. I should’ve gone to Mario’s Taco truck which I think and in my humble opinion is way much, much better then this place. The only decent thing here was the bean dip I got when we got here.
Terrible experience I ordered to go camarones a la diabla the salsa was gross no flavor just spicy its a rip off because its suppose to be a meal but only got 4 or five small pieces of shrimp with small flavor less rice and beans over priced and their prices on the online menu aren't accurate because they charged me more in person. Will never come here again nor recommend to anyone. I checked my bag before leaving asked for a couple of limes and they charged me for that. The Indian restaurant food next door is better.

So I ordered this big burrito thinking it was gonna be fire, but honestly it just felt real wet. Like way too wet. The sauce didn’t stay on the burrito, it just kinda ran around the plate like it was lost. The cheese on top wasn’t even melted right, it looked like they grated it straight from the bag and said “good luck.” They gave me orange slices on the side, but I don’t even know what to do with them… like am I supposed to eat oranges with beans?? I tried it and it was nasty, so that was confusing. The salad had one cucumber slice and it looked tired, like it needed a nap. The chips tasted like paper triangles, and the dip was like somebody already chewed it up. The drink wasn’t even real soda, it just tasted like brown. Overall, it wasn’t terrible terrible, but it definitely wasn’t good. I left full but also mad, like how you be stuffed and disappointed at the same time
I decided to try this place because of the great reviews here, but I regret it! Nothing tasted fresh or authentic. Everything we ordered was flavorless, and all the sauces tasted like they came from a can. I will say that the service was great, our waitress was very nice and attentive.
Went in to celebrate moms bday food has good taste portions are horrible ordered the molcajetes hardly any meat in them full of green salsa def never coming back waiter not attentive wanted em to bring a lil cake for her as I seen em take it to another table and sing my waitress never came to the point we just wanted to leave don’t waste your time and money here go else were and get better service
