The food was delicious!!! I tried the dish called "chile verde" It was well seasoned and had the right flavor. The California burrito was also good, The place clean, cozy like a mexican house rustic style, also has a cantina, with seating outside, and the inside is spacious, good for groups of both small and large. The wait time was short, and our food arrived quickly. They are very friendly. very good experience.
Fantastic food, ambience and feel. The place is not too far from the Golden gate Bridge and it was not crowded at all on a weekday for lunch. The food portions are just right and the cocktails are also great. There is ample amount of parking and it's kid-friendly. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy Mexican food.
I told my waiter that I would give him a good review and here I am giving him a good review. Here it goes to our best waiter: Leo! He was very nice and super funny and definitely made our experience so much better! The whole staff was absolutely great, the service was great, everything was overall great!
Delicious Food!!🔥 Margaritas were strong and yum but flavors were limited! The ambience and the service was amazing. Very accommodating and welcoming! Loved it!! Must try🍽 Vegetarian Chimichanga 🌱
Ok, let me start with how amazing David (bartender) and Joel (server) are.Shoutout to Piña too lol. Excellent customer service and very friendly. Kudos to all of them. Gracias Muchachos for your hard work. You guys are amazing. By the way David makes the best Pińa Coladas. Perfect mixture. I was in town for some training courses and I Goggle the restaurants near me. I came across The Cantina. I decided to try it. I was NOT disappointed. I had the combination plate of the Chile Relleno and cheese enchilada with rice and beans. All I can say is that I will definitely be back next time I’m in town.
There are plenty of photos and reviews that I am posting to share why I stop in at The Cantina. It is perfectly situated on East Blithedale Ave where I spend a lot of time hiking and running errands. We often hike the Summit Trailhead, then dog (and car) wash across the street before stopping in for a late afternoon snack . Our dogs love soaking in the sun sitting at one of the parking lot tables drying off after a bath while I love enjoying the BLACKBERRY MARGARITA. It is deliciously deceptive as a cocktail. The staff is attentive, dog friendly and the food match the laid back Cali cantina experience. And if you sit at a table near the back entry to the Sloat Garden Center, you may notice a few resident hummingbirds buzzing around the planters.
Nice place. High quality food. Had the fiesta salad Really good food !! They have indoor and outdoor seating and draft beer.
Surprised with pretty much everything in a good way. Tasty fish tacos, pork sandwich 🤤, strawberry margarita was oh my… Food portions are american size, be careful. And finally, the waitress is super cute 😻
We had such a lovely brunch, the personal is highly friendly and the food fresh and delicious!
Thank you for delicious food and hospitable waitresses
Though we’ve waited quite a while to place our order the Food was delicious 🤤 so it’s worth it.
My first time to try this place and it didn’t disappoint me. Their Mexican calamari is so appetizing. I’m a pescatarian and they have a lot of options for me to choose
We had lunch here, this place is so beautiful and fresh delicious food was served to us,loved it.would recommended to Authentic Mexican cuisine lovers.
the food is excellent and the portions are very big. The staff is very friendly. We were surprised how fast the food was served. The prices are very reasonable.
Lovely, popular Mexican restaurant that has a private dining space for about 30. We were here for a party celebrating the world premiere of “The MisEducation of Bindu” at the nearby Mill Valley Film Festival. Great taco party and friendly staff. F
I was a greeted with a very warm welcome by the hostess Jackie and the owner John Burns AKA Juan Fuego I had the chimichangas with green chili the tortillas were toasty the meat was fresh the chili was good the service was excellent overall great experience will be back again for sure. PS I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and I had a great experience at The Cantina thanks again Captain Ron.
Nothing to complain, everything it was excellent, food, drinks and ambience.
Outdoor dining, tables spaced appropriately. Food was delicious and service was great!
Great service. Pleasant waitresses. Great value. $1.00 tacos on Mondays starting at 3 pm.
Great ambience!! Superb food!!
Great friendly staff amazing service and great food,we sat at the fireplace nice and cosy
The staff and food were wonderful. Definitely a place to go
We stopped by here after a long day of hiking. Just had a beer with chips, salsa and guacamole only. We sat outside (we were a bit dirty from the hike) but it was a nice atmosphere. Can't really critique the food since we didn't consume much but staff very friendly and the salsa & quac was yummy. We definitely made a note to return there when we were in the area again. Got to see the inside when we used their RR. It is pretty nice inside.
Friendly & accommodating staff, great food and fun atmosphere.
Great Mexican food!! Large portions, fresh, and delicious! Many choices with lots of combinations. Service is wonderful and very attentive. Very large indoor or outdoor seating areas with several spaces that could be used for private parties. Great for Dates or Families. Amazing Bar with excellent Cocktails, Beer, and many other beverage choices. A favorite for many years!
The portobello fajitas are delicious! Patio dining on a nice day and tasty margaritas make the Cantina a special place!
I drove past this place a million times but never stopped - my mistake!! It’s HUGE, has great food, great service, and tons of menu options. This is my new favorite restaurant in Marin. VERY impressed. I got a 3 item combo with beef taco, chicken taco, and cheese enchilada - all were great. The rice was excellent, the refried beans were the only part of the meal that were sort of mediocre, but not bad, just not great like everything else. My gf got fish tacos and she said the fish was great. Service was LIGHTENING fast. I will be back often.
The Cantina is a neighborhood restaurant. It gets held to an unfair standard because Mill Valley is expensive. From my experience, it’s a nice setting, with kind and attentive waitstaff, and reliable food. I lived nearby for years and never went because of the reviews and regret not forming my own opinion sooner, because I could’ve sooner found a convenient, easy going place with nice people serving good food.
Lovely patio, inside seating comfortable and nice. Food excellent. Service with a smile
Very nice and friendly staff. Nice array of indoor and outdoor seating. Fajitas were good but rice and beans I have had better but Weren’t bad though. Would def. Eat here here again. I found this place because of google reviews so I hope if you are looking for a good Mexican spot, this place was pretty good.
Nice outdoor atmosphere. Very good service. Queso was so so. Tamale overcooked and too hard to eat. The other plates were nicely filled and visually appealing. My daughter enjoyed feeding the black birds.
Good food; specialy the salad. Service was ok.
Excellent margaritas. Happy Hour prices are great. Pleasant and helpful staff. Very good food is you order other than the Happy Hour menu.
Had a great time celebrating a friend birthday there, the food is tastey and plentiful. Fun bar wit good happy hour deals
Delicious food & yummy drinks! Reminded us of the old Cantina we used to have in Santa Rosa!
Like sitting outside here at the fire tables. Food is pretty solid, not the best Mexican but good.
Good atmosphere and friendly and responsive service. The food was good and the price was right. I would definitely come back. The only complaint I have is that I asked for a little extra salsa Fresca and they charged 3 bucks for it on a $12 dish. I understand charging that for extra guacamole, for example but for salsa? If you were to charge for that, should be maybe like a dollar. Also, add on the menu that anything extra, costs extra. That way people know in advance and are not surprised by the bill.
It's a tough nut to crack. Delicious through and through. Must drive your body inside to believe it. Anyway, always the diner for a margarita village. Class A restaurante
Food tastes good, serving sizes are very small and very costly. The restaurant charges in the bill a percentage for "Living Wage" (4%) + tip $9 the cheapest or Customized tip. Corn cake is delicious.
I never like to give a three star review but unfortunately we had a bad experience at this restaurant for the third time. This last time we were there the food came out cold, and it took a very long time to get served. I remember when this place made really good tasting food and now it’s definitely gone a different direction. Besides that the atmosphere the ambience and the decor is great not to mention all the staff and people working there are super nice.
Good food, but the service is very slow (it was empty) and look at this brownie with ice cream? I could barely try the ice cream it was so small.
Food is awesome! You have to pay $5 for chips and salsa, REALLY? But they are good. Came at lunch, it was slow and it took forever for server to take our order. Even after that the service lacked big time. The servers were just standing around talking. I would encourage you to have higher standards in service to match the great food!
Definitely not a bad place to eat. The restaurant as a whole was great, super friendly. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. The service was average- we were there on New Year's Day night, the server was very friendly, but it took quite a while to do/get everything for the restaurant not being full, they could have been short staffed and it was a holiday. I would go again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
First time trying out The Cantina since it was close to home and had great outdoor dining with fire pits at certain tables but I was sorely disappointed. I learned quite quickly after ordering my food that the item to order is their fajitas (which neither myself nor my partner ordered of course). All of the other tables around us were getting their nice fajita plates while we were still waiting patiently for our appetizer. The customer at the next table arrived AFTER we finished our appetizer and still seemed to get his fajita plate before either of our entrees arrived. Finally after about 40 minutes of waiting for our entrees they were brought out and my order was incorrect. After rectifying my order and trying to enjoy my combination plate of chile relleno and an enchilada, the food was very bland. All in all the best part of the dinner was the table we sat at outside which had a fire pit in the center. Very disappointing and a waste of money even after reading all the great reviews….
Either these people giving it 5 stars have bad taste in food or maybe todays service was not good. Can’t even get the basics right; beans are flavorless, undercooked rice (tastes like bagged pre-cooked rice), beef is cafeteria at best. Not to include the burritos are more rice than any other topping on it. Tortilla chips have more flavor than the beans which is impressively sad.
We are locals but haven't been to the Cantina in many years. We went Friday night and it has declined considerably. We ordered margaritas, an appetizer and fajitas and enchiladas for our entrees. All the food came out together, very quickly. It appeared the accoutrements to the fajitas may have been plated quite a bit earlier, the cheese on the refried beans was solidified. The corn cake thing was cold, and everything else was at room temperature. The actual fajitas were hot but way too many onions and really no peppers. The queso fundido that came out with our entrees was cold, as in not hot or room temperature. We had to ask for our drinks again. Our server was very nice and attentive but it was a disappointing and expensive meal to not have it "coursed" a bit more and hot.
The restaurant has got really expensive. I’m not sure what’s going on but $35 for a burrito 45+ for chili Verde plate doesn’t make sense for a local business. This is not 3% or 4% inflation much higher. The inflation only happened over the last month. I’d like to know what’s really going on.
Very disappointed,, extremely expensive, the carnitas in my enchiladas where very dry, usually Mexican food take out the bay leaves from the food this restaurant leaves them in... Pick up of food took very long and then they forgot the drinks, they don't give plasticwere how they think people will eat the to go food?
Great place to watch a game, but sat in the bar area 30 minutes on semi busy Thursday evening before anyone asked if I needed anything. I guess that is typical everywhere these days. Fortunately I primarily came to watch the Celtics game, not for the over priced mediocre food and/or drinks.
Bad experience! It was the 3 of us and we ordered a very basic burrito with rice, beans, Pico de Gallo and guacamole. Mind you, we all got water to drink! Got the bill and it was $75! They charged me an extra $12 for the guacamole. Then with a tip the bill was $90. That was crazy and it wasn't even that good. The burritos were lacking filling, and I said to the waiter that he hadn't mentioned to me that the guacamole was going to be extra. That just didn't seem fair. I would never have agreed to it if I knew it was another $12. They refused to take it off the bill. The atmosphere in this place is like a ghost town. Very dead!!! I do not recommend this place at all.
