Porch in Mountain Brook was absolutely amazing! Our waitress, Madison, was one of the best servers we’ve had at any restaurant in a long time. She was attentive, friendly, and made our entire experience even better. Every single dish we ordered was incredible — full of flavor and beautifully prepared. Thank you for the outstanding food and exceptional service. Our party of 6.5 thoroughly enjoyed everything and we can’t wait to come back!
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Amazing food and quick service every time. Best burger in Birmingham too
Located in a quaint part of town, you can tell this strip has plenty of home vibes mixed with a little mixture of different shops and food. We walked onto a very active patio with live music and a Sunday brunch crowd all smiling around their tables. Food was excellent and came rather quickly! Parking in the lot is a little hard to find, I would recommend sending someone ahead if you have a large group on Sundays.
My daughter got the truffled farro bowl and loved it. I tried a bite and thought it was tasty. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. I had the shrimp and grits and it was delightful. Loved the way they make a gravy of sorts and serve it over some really creamy grits!! My side Caesar salad was really good with a perfect amount of dressing The afternoon was about 80 so we enjoyed the outside patio.
Fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits were top notch. Service was excellent. Pimento appetizer was also nice.
Not sure why this place hasn’t had more reviews. So 5-star worthy that my husband and I (who live in Florida) remembered this place 4 years later when we drove back through Birmingham. We spent over 30 minutes scouring the local restaurant listings until we determined this is where we’d been before. Leaving this review in part so I never lose track of it again. Smashburger, fried chicken chopped salad, Brussels, ranch dressing…all a ten from us. No edits. Bonus was our waiter (Steven) was awesome too.
Service (I believe from Mandy) was 10/10. Quick and friendly. Food was pretty good as well. We ordered the Oko as an appetizer, which could have used slightly more sauce to make it more flavorful but can easily be requested I’m sure. I got the blackened flounder which was great but the crispy Brussels sprouts were the star of the show to me.
Hands-down, the best burger I’ve had in Birmingham. This was a true smash burger. I wasn’t expecting it to be so seasoned and juicy because sometimes when they smash the burgers, they can become dry and brittle that was not the case here. I also highly recommend getting brussels sprouts some of the best I’ve ever had. And last, but not least the condiments oh my gosh, the ranch that house made was so good and I could taste all the dill fresh herbs. Their burger sauce is also equally as delicious. What a nice lovely place to go for an evening out or just a casual lunch.
Did a door dash pickup, what a fun looking spot. Cool atmosphere and lots of room to hangout in. Their beer options have my attention, definitely coming back for a sit down meal. Staff were nice and place was clean. Got the Chicken Sandwich and it was mighty tasty. Fries are good too as well as their cheese grits. If you haven't tried this spot, definitely give it a visit.
We enjoyed our time at this restaurant. The staff were wonderful. Our waitress, Madison, was friendly and helpful. She made our dinner memorable because she was very polite. Our food was scrumptious. I had the blackened fish sandwich with sweet potato fries. Everything was great. If you want an appetizer, get their wings. They have the best wings I have ever tasted. We will be back soon. 🙂
Birmingham is a foodie town and there are many good choices, but rarely does a restaurant meal inspire us to want to recreate the meal at home. Porch was an exception. In our first visit we ordered oko pancake and truffled farro bowl. Being an Asian I am quite familiar with savory Asian pancakes, and oko pancake tasted very authentic - crispy and tender, spiciness to the point and not overpowering. Now the truffled farro bowl was something we've never tried. We were intrigued by the name and - was it a good choice! Truffle oil (I am guessing white truffle oil?) paired really well with the sourness of the balsamic, sweetness of the beets, nuttiness of the farro, and creaminess of the goat cheese. We liked it so much that we went to buy grocery to try to make it at home. We will come back again.
The food is delicious, and the menu is simple, offering a standard American meal. I visit almost every week. The only thing that can be unpleasant at times is that some of the servers have a stiff attitude, making it feel like they’re serving prisoners.
Had an amazing birthday luncheon with friends at this trendy place. Diverse menu and great veg options to choose from. I had the farro bowl and it was delectable. They have a large patio space, we preferred to be seated outside to inside. The service was warm and cordial. The only suggestion would be that they could work more on their cocktail menu.
My wife raved about the food. I had the duck sandwich. The taste of vinegar was overpowering. I also had the black eyed pea salad. Per the menu it was included with the sandwich, yet I was charged for it. It too was overpowered by the taste of vinegar. I couldn't finish either.
I ate here for lunch (around 1:30 pm) on a Saturday afternoon. I made a reservation via Google and it was super easy. The restaurant was a little busy. Basically outside was full but there were plenty of seats inside. The hostesses was nice and seated me within 5 minutes. I ordered crispy brussels with bacon, duck confit bahn mi with fries and a mixed drink with coconut, pineapple and dark rum (it had a medical “ play on words” name) I’ll start with the Brussels: they were not crispy at all. If anything, they were soaked in syrup and hot sauce. They were quite spongy and wilted. When I did get a hint of bacon, it was pretty burned. I was actually thankful that it was very small pieces of bacon in my brussel sprouts. The duck confit bahn mi was also disappointing. The pieces of duck in the bahn mi Were chopped as if you were serving up a chopped brisket sandwich. This led to what should have been beautiful pieces of sliced duck confit being chopped dried pieces of duck completely falling out of the sandwich. In addition, the cilantro that was In the sandwich was placed in it whole. Meaning, the entire stem along with the actual leaves of cilantro (You will see it in the pictures). This made every bite taken into the bahn mi awkward As all I got was a mouthful of cilantro stems; however, I couldn’t actually take a complete bite of the sandwich because you cannot bite off whole stems of cilantro at all or much less being in a bunch. Additionally, the menu stated that the bahn mi had thin slices of jalapeños. The slices were not thin at all and they still had all of their seeds. I was expecting actual very thin slices of jalapeño which would have added a nice crunch and slight heat. Instead, I had to pull out the slices of jalapeño and put them to the side of my plate. Next, is the fries. Once again, I was very disappointed as all the pictures I had seen on the Internet showed delicious looking fries that were of good length. Instead, almost all of my fries were approximately an inch long. I seriously thought they must’ve just had baby potatoes in stock. Or maybe I just got the absolute bottom of the barrel. My mixed drink was not good either. It was very sweet, but didn’t really taste of anything. The waitress even took it off my tab. And please note, I never complained to her about the drink. She just noticed that majority of it was still in the glass I asked for the check. The waitress/bartender was nice and attentive. There was one man who dropped my food off at my table. He didn’t say a word, he just dropped it and walked away. He did not ask me if everything looked all right, if I needed anything. I would like to caveat my review by saying that I searched the entire Birmingham area (And outskirts) To find what I thought would be the perfect lunch as I was visiting for one day only. And I took a chance on The Porch. I love cilantro, jalapeños, fries, and duck… And the reviews on this place really attracted me to wanting to eat here.
The food was decent, not enough to go again. Our waitress had a horrible attitude. She slammed multiple items on the table at different times. I asked about menu items and it was like pulling teeth. The glasses were dirty as was the restroom. The experience was one id never like to repeat.
I was in town for a car show and googled nearby dog friendly restaurants. Looked at the menu and called to confirm the patio was dog friendly. Arrived around 11:15 on a Saturday with just me and my dog to sit on the patio. The hostess brought a bowl of water for my dog and was very nice. I sat for 15 minutes without ever being acknowledged by a server or having a drink order taken. I don’t know if they were inundated with guests, understaffed, or if I was underdressed for the area. Either way I packed up and left. Was really wanting to try several of their menu item and get my dog a cheeseburger meal but left disappointed.
