Nice atmosphere, delicious food. Best restaurant in the Chathams as of current options. Very friendly staff as well. Never had a negative experience here, never had a dish that wasn't phenomenal! Their prime rib is always a great choice, but their specials are unique and tasty. Would definitely recommend to anyone who's in the area.

This place is awesome! Take the time to jump off the freeway and eat here, you won't regret it. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was fast even with how busy they were. Staff is very friendly as well!

Dinner with my wife and another couple. We all ordered different choices from the menu and we were all very pleased with our dinners. Server was extremely pleasant and the atmosphere was very relaxed with an old pub style charm. A bit of a drive from Albany, but worth the trip.

M

Fantastic cuisine in a homey old-fashioned environment. A reservation is recommended. Service was timely and we were not rushed. Parking is a bit tight on a Saturday but there appears to be a small lot behind the premises. Menu varies between lighter fare and finer entrees. A plumbing issue in the “Pointers” room results in a faint methane smell. Otherwise this would be worth a drive from Albany or Pittsfield to enjoy with family or friends.

Came here on the advice of a local and found this 3 generation family owned restaurant and staff to be charming. We found out from some ladies sitting next to us that this restaurant has hosted most proms, graduation dinners and weddings in the area. Situated on a five point intersection of Old Chatham, they offer many seafood and locally sourced menu items. I ordered the steam clams but was pleasantly surprised when they arrived and were served with onions and peppers in the juice broth, very delicious, I assume this is a regional preparation. My blackened scallops were spicy and juicy and my husbands fish fry sandwich was very enjoyable.

Love this place! Great burgers and prime rib. Tonight we had an exceptional waitress, Wanita. She went above and beyond to make our night a great one. I wish I took a picture of the prime rib but I dug right in.

Was pleasantly surprised. The french onion soup was delicious as was my hot open turkey. My wife truly enjoyed her 20 oz prime rib as well. My dear old mother in law got the scrod fish and salad .. stated the dressing was a tad bitter.. 4.8 but I do not know how to do the star thing. The place is warm and the staff accommodating.

First time visiting we arrived early in what to me seemed like a small town and the place was packed! Lines and full restaurants are always a good sign if you've never been. Although it has a casual feel, the food is more upscale, I ordered a special entree a seafood risotto, which was cooked perfectly all the items scallops, huge pieces of lobster, shrimp we spot on. If you have read any of my reviews in the past you will know I spent some time in fine dining and upscale casual dining as a server. So it may sometimes come across as being hyper-critical. So service wise the staff seemed younger and some were noticeably newer to the food service industry, possibly coupled with a very busy dining room and maybe down a server or two as i notice some level of manager assisting, the manager however, may have been newer or disregarded a few basic items, i had stacked plates for obvious pickup but ignored a few times. Nothing was bad or horrendous, just needed some polishing. I will definitely be attending when i am nearby this area, They have a live pianist who is exceptional and extremely friendly, I apologize for forgetting his name. Plays an array of music and wil take requests. Not sure if he is only there during the weekend or most nights. Highly recommend if in the area to check out, have a wide array available on the menu.

On our way back from the Lee Outlets, we decided to look for a pub for lunch and took the back roads. We were glad we stumbled upon Jackson’s Old Chatham House. They have a large menu and outdoor seating. We sat outside and received prompt service. The onion rings were so good that we placed an order to go for dinner later at home.

We enjoyed mother's day dinner with 8 in our party. The service was prompt and we received our appetizers fast and shortly behind that our dinners. Staff worked efficiantly and we were done and out in 1.5 hrs. The meals were so good! Perfectly cooked medium rare filet mignon, lobster risotto, stuffed flounder with seafood, prome rib. We had a difficult time eciding what incredible meal to choose

I have always been happy with Jackson's. They have a varied menu. For those looking for a reasonably priced meal, I must say that their hamburgers are among the best I've eaten in my over 60 years on this planet. Other entrees are quite good as well and are varied- duck, branzino, vegetarian dishes, etc. The service is quite excellent and is especially welcome at a time when so many other restaurants are short-staffed.

One of my favorite places to go out. Excellent food, menu & service. Updating March 2024; I miss the guitar player, Steve. The food, menu & service all still excellent, although this Saturday night when we were seated the dining room was full, everyone was finishing their meals and it was noisy. But within 15 20 minutes 2 tables left & it instantly quieted down and the cozy ambiance was back. Have to admit, sometimes we've been that noisy group! It's all good!

What an absolute pleasure finding this place. We were coming from Albany NY heading hom ( Swansea Ma.) first meeting Zizzy stoking the fireplace. What a “Find” Food delicious & service nicely personable. We will definitely go back!

Jackson's is about an hour's drive away from where I live, but every once in a while I love to head out there for a special occasion type of dinner. The food is always fabulous. The staff is friendly. Outside seating is lovely even though its right against the (not busy) road. For cooler weather there are heaters for the outside seating. Indoors has a delightful antiquey feel to the decor (in a good way!). It can get pretty dark inside, very atmospheric and moody. Personally I like that, but some folks with weaker eyes might have trouble reading the menu depending on the day. Great food and drink options. There are some higher price meals but some less expensive "light fare" meals as well. I always get the french onion soup as a starter, and honestly I could be happy if it was the only thing I got. But the meals are always fabulous!

What a great gem. Was looking for something unique on our road trip. Chicken parm, salmon (5 stars), tortellini pesto and kids pasta were all amazing. Fair wine selections and like many reviews… a ton of food for the money! Note there is a for sale sign out front, hopefully they keep the chief and staff!

Excellent service and food for our party of 15 people tonight! We had different entrees and all were very Satisfied with their choice. Appetizers were outstanding (grilled scallops were spectacular) as was the special for the night, a Lobster Rigatoni that had beautiful chunks of lobster swimming in a very flavorful sauce. A very memorable birthday celebration for a very special lady. Can’t wait to go back!

We had a wonderful lunch at Jackson's Old Chatham House. The food, the atmosphere and the service were top notch. If you want a great meal that fills you up regardless of what you order then dig in at Jackson's Old Chatham House where you can never go wrong. We sat right next to the fire and it was amazing. My father had the open face roast beef sandwich and it was to die for. I had the Garrett Burger and it was killer. Couldn't be happier with our decision to eat here and would suggest it to anyone. Thanks for a great meal and great service!

Incredible food and atmosphere. One of my favorite dining experiences in the area. Everything here is amazing, fresh and full of flavor. You can't go wrong for a nice Friday out. (My personal favorites are the butternut squash ravioli with grilled chicken and the coconut shrimp with sweet chili sauce)

What a great find! The outdoor dining awesome and our food was delicious. The loaded potato skins were the best I've ever had, cooked perfectly with lots of cheese. The blackened chicken sandwich was everything I wished for. The fried fish sandwich was delicious too. The staff was friendly. My wife and I were glad we found this place!

I live in Rochester New York, about 4 1/2 hours away and was in Old Chatham. I heard about this place that was in walking distance from where I was staying. This is exactly what I was looking for.. so glad I checked it out.I love stuff like this!!!.. very nice.. rustic, quaint, simple, good service, clean, good beer on tap, and good food.. I only wish you all were closer to me. I MOST DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK!

Hands down, the best prime rib I've ever had. We started with the clams, and they were perfect as well, prepared with garlic and whit wine, exactly like I like them. Staff was attentive and atmosphere was relaxed. Will definitely go back.

"HIDDEN GEM" that's been serving the area for generations. Nice Old Charm atmosphere. Wood burning stove, fireplace exposed ceiling beams, you know, just a real good vibe. Menu selection was very good, from Burgers to Prime Rib. Live music, nothing crazy, just good, easy listening back ground music. A lot of parking around back. Our server Kylie was great and after dinner, Kim the Bartender was kind and friendly serving drinks and dessert. Friendly patrons to laugh and converse with. All around a very good experience for my first visit. Highly recommend and will be back again for dinner and drinks.

Very nice atmosphere. We had the chicken cordon bleu with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes and the prime rib dinner. The portions were generous and well seasoned. Each came with your choice of soup or salad. The soup, beef barley, was very good. They have a good selection of local beers and a pumpkin martini that is to die for. The staff are very attentive.

We had a (birthday) party of 12 (including 3 & 7 year olds). We made reservations given our party size but I don't think you need them for smaller groups) We were given a private room and while it was a Saturday night at dinnertime I can't even tell you how fast our food came out! We had everything from tortellini to burgers to seafood platter and prime ribs as big as your gramma... everything was perfect! The portions were phenomenal never-even-mind how fabulous the prices were! We had eaten here years ago and when we had our special dinner coming up everybody said "hey! What about Jacksons?" and Jacksons did NOT let us down!! (Just to add...our service was great, the restaurant was clean, the restrooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly).

This is an actual Stagecoach stop between NYC and Albany back in the day. It is the not so secret go-to restaurant and watering hole for a 50 mile + radius. Weddings, fine dining, beer, and a monster burger week nights or weekends, you name it. We had our yearly Mac-Haydn Theater Alumni Dinner there last night, and we were treated like royalty. They treat everyone that way. I have never had a bad experience there, and last night was no different.

Stopped here on the way to Saratoga Springs. Not only was this place adorable and charming, But the staff was beyond helpful and very friendly. We were in a hurry so only got a quick sandwich which they had out to us super fast because they knew we were on a tight schedule, but the food was awesome. Can not wait to go back and try more, even with a two hour drive.

Great service, delicious food! Decor is nice. There was a wedding reception going on in the attached room to the diningroom. The reception music was loud, even with the doors closed. Every time the door(s) were opened to allow the guests to walk through the diningroom to the bathrooms, the music level increased in the diningroom. Also, a lot of traffic to, and from, the bathrooms next to our table, and others.

J
Jia Ji Lin

This is a good American-style restaurant in the town of Chatham. The service was friendly and fast on a Friday night. There was still decent seating in the dining room in the back while the bar was mostly packed. We had the wings with sweet Thai chili sauce, the lamb chop special, the Jackson and Gausset burger. Both burgers were large and the rack of lambs were portioned well. The sweet potato fries were done exceptionally well with a rather nice crispy exterior and soft inside. The wings were not too bad either; the sauce was not overpowering the over flavor of the wings. The interior decoration has a cozy Christmas vibe that would be excellent on those particularly cold days

Loved this quaint historic restaurant!!!! From the moment we walked into the bar, sat and enjoyed an adult beverage, or two. Then on to our reserved table for dinner. Service was spot on. You couldn't ask for better. The food was amazing! I had to ask about the stuffed mushrooms, because I do not like imitation crab.......at all. It was real crab in the stuffing and the taste was phenomenal! We had a large table and everything was perfect. I would highly recommend Jackson's. We will be back. Update: April 13th, 2024 We came back with a few friends and enjoyed an excellent meal, served well and efficiently. Our servers name was Jackson. Food was great! Everything was wonderful until............my companion and I asked for a Sambucca to enjoy after our meal. Imagine our surprise when a shot glass was put before us with a shot of Sambucca!!! I think the bartender needs to figure out how to serve after dinner liquors and drinks. Please.........talk with the bar tender and let them know, like all beverages, there are proper glasses for each beverage. A shot glass???

Quaint atmosphere. The food was prepared well and seasoned well. Portions were not too big, but not skimpy either. A nice assortment of options, but not overwhelming. And our server was attentive but didn't hover. Overall, I'd say this place is just right.

Stopped here for a solo dinner on work trip while cruising West to Rochester, NY area. I was positioned very well here to enjoy some quiet time next to fireplace (real wood ;) ) and wrap up work emails while sipping on local craft suds, enjoying a soft pretzel and a salad. The server let me lounge and linger and order slow. Finished the feast with a very well prepped and perfectly cooked burger. The burger was the highlight. Great quality beef and cooked to perfect. Not greasy at all. Very friendly atmosphere and service. This will be a favorite stop on this commute!

Holiday weekend and there is a band at the bar. Jackson’s got a new owner a year ago. My understanding is that he has never done a venture like this. Every time I am here, I see him. Last time we were here, he asked the bartender/manager to call a take out customer because the kitchen forgot to add something to their order. THAT’s how you do it, Iggy! (Being proactive). The restaurant business is tough, but he is doing the right things to make this work.

Good food, great atmosphere, good for families. Full bar. The owners are always on premises. Love the home made chicken cordon blue. We had a banquet there last night for 50 people. Best restaurant in the area for sure.

Everything was amazing! Kinda pricey but worth every penny!! 💖 I had the Flat Iron steak and it came perfectly medium with delicious sweet potato fries that were lightly salted. 1 friend had a burger that was perfectly medium rare and he said it was scrumptious. His Aunt had the fisherman's platter and she shared it with her bf. They said everything was awesome! Draught Stella Artois was the perfect complement for my steak. I hope we can afford to go back. 🥰

We kind of accidentally ate here & I'm sooo glad we did. Atmosphere is beautiful. My sister in law had the potato leek soup & said it was fantastic. Her entree was steamed clams & she said they were wonderful. Hubby had hamburger & fries & was quite pleased. I had French onion soup which was perfect & cranberry walnut salad with blackened scallops...out of this world. SiL & I shared a piece of Italian lemom creme cake (ok we let hubby have some too). Dense, moist, the flavor was light & just right! And the service? Absolutely flawless! We plan to return soon. Highly recommend!

Hadn’t been in years so we decided to go for a family birthday (table of 9). It was enjoyable and the food was delicious. Our server was pleasant and the owner checked in as well. Can’t ask for more than that! We will try to come back more frequently as these types of local restaurants are few and far between anymore, and they really need the support.

A place that seems to remember its own history of long ago boardinghouses, railroad stations and active rail lines. A very comfortable feel. Holiday weekend Saturday night Lots of people; very busy. Table for two out of the flow yet there was someone with us in five minutes. One of the five staff members, including our waitress Catherine, that would visit the table during the next hour. Friendly and unhurried in the midst of a full house. Very well run experience. Our food was excellent And the prime rib lived up to its world famous billing. Hot and perfectly cooked. Definitely a place to feel good and have a good time.

The Stuffed Sole is life changing. Honestly, it’s a 10/10 every single time and I recommend it to everyone. The lobster sauce is phenomenal. The blueberry cobbler cheesecake also did not disappoint. We come at least once a year and they are always so accommodating to our large party. The service is fantastic and we always leave satisfied. It’s definitely a family friendly, cozy tavern vibe with elevated dishes.

I dug this place a lot. Halfway between me and a friend, perfect spot for a few quick beers, a satisfying burger, and late game football. The roaring wood stove, low beamed ceiling, and friendly staff made this a relaxing, unpretentious visit. You could tell from several large multigenerational parties this is a well-loved spot.

Everything was top notch from the waitstaff down to the rustic, cozy atmosphere. I, cleaned my plate 😁 How is it possible for everything to taste good? But, it was! Hats off to the chef ,fantastic job! I highly recommend if you’re a seafood lover, flo’s seafood platter. My boyfriend had the pork osso bucco and that was also good. Let’s not forget the appetizer French onion is the best we ever had. Five stars.

I have attached some pictures I took during our visit! Jackson's is solid. I don't think you can go wrong with any selection on the whole menu to be honest. I went here with my wife out here on a motorcycle ride. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and the broiled scallops as an appetizer, and both excellent. She got the prime rib (big cut), she said it was up there with some of the best she's had, and we are well traveled. I'm going to have to agree with the other review, it's in my top 3 I think. I opted for the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Aces. Home run. The service was A+. Outside seating and ambience A+. This is marked on Google maps as one of my favorites . I do also have to mention that they have local craft beer on tap....and it is sublime. I think they had 4 or 5 on deck. I would go here just for beer and snacks, and also for a romantic dinner or a small event. Looking forward to coming back !

Delightful in every way! Food is simple but enrapturing. Very friendly staff, and free wi-fi. Authentic cast-iron hearth, and ten beers on tap, including local microbrews. Ample parking in front. Colonial feel, complete with roaring hearts in at least two places. Antique curios adorn the walls. Friendly, efficient waitstaff. The bathrooms are well maintained and identified as ‘Pointers’ and ‘Setters,’ so chose accordingly. Inner dining room very spacious with cubicled divider if two separate parties need to share the space. Parking somewhat limited to ten cars. Full bar in front serving stiff drinks. My family and I were traveling through and wanted to eat a "real meal" before finding our hotel and hitting the bed for the night. I ordered the black angus steak and it was wonderful. Excellent food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. A nice, tucked away, local gem. The reason for my 4 star is because we waited over an hour for our food. I noticed other groups who came in after us were served before us. It didn't seem that busy and I'm sure there was a good reason. Even considering that, I would highly recommend eating here because it's awesome.

Myself and my wife were there for Valentine's Day. The food was perfect. Our server was not happy to be there. Or at least that's how it appeared. I ordered a prime rib to go after we had our meal. I told the waitress the one I had there was cooked perfect and I would like a rare prime rib to go. When I got home it was an end cut nothing like what I had ordered there. We did tip based on our order that we brought home. It was a very big let down.

Lobster bisque was terrific! Buffalo chicken tenders were average and never came with a sauce. French fries were fresh cut and plentiful but came with a ridiculously small cup of ketchup. We asked for a side of bleu cheese....it is home made and the best I have ever had. Service was very slow (we were the first and only customers at the time) but friendly.

As much as I'd like to love this place I cannot. Our party of 5 made a reservation. When we were lead to our table we were seated in a scary debunked reception room in the back of the building. With random coat racks and extra tables and chairs.... no historical dining area. The hostess politely moved us to another table in the main dining area. We ordered.a few apps and few salads. Four seared scallops looked lonely on an empty plate priced above $15. 6 barely cooked thru stuffed mushrooms. The bleu cheese dressing saved the salad. Entrees next seemed ok. I ordered the flat iron steak. What I got was a giant piece of toast (dry) with a tiny piece of steak on it smothered in mostly onions and a few mushrooms. Next to that was 4 steak fries. I wish I'd taken a picture of this ridiculous plate. One friend left her plate mostly full. I'm guessing her meal wasn't that good. Drinks were good as the bartender pours a full glass of wine. So full glasses sad plates. The best part besides the company was the man singing tunes with the keyboard. This is my second time here at Jackson's, In a few years. Last meal was terrible. This one I can only laugh about.

We have dined here frequently over the last several years and always enjoyed our meals. In the last few months the food quality has slightly declined and the prices have noticeably increased. We will probably dine out elsewhere.

The food was just ok. A little disappointed because I got cream of asparagus soup and honestly it tasted like a can if Campbell's soup. My husband ordered a favorite of his, French onion soup and it was very bland and not many onions or bread crust on top. Just disappointing for a place we were used to getting excellent meals. Our entrees were just ok also.

This restaurant was a bit out of our way, was recommended by a friend. About 50 min north. The staff was very friendly, especially our waitress Elizabeth. Food came promptly enough, but was served luke warm. Glass of wine a little over the top at 14 $ for a glass half full.

We have enjoyed eating at Jackson's for years. However, the last couple times we've been there we ordered burgers. My husband likes his well done, and I like mine medium. His burger came out medium (pink in the center) and mine was obviously medium well. The place was not busy, so it was disappointing. We did not say anything and ate them anyway, but when you're paying $18 for a burger (and they ask you how you'd like it cooked), they should get it right.

Good food, fish fry sandwich was great lightly breaded and crispy not the usual overbreaded stuff you see out there, we sat in the front tavern section and the service was not good, to be fair there is a dinning room and our server seemed to be covering both? Not sure, she also forgot to add a requested item to our meal and disappeared before we can ask for it and didn't come back to check on us for awhile so had to eat it how it was served or wait and let it get cold waiting which it would of been by the time we saw her again, she seemed more focus on the dinning room customers, good food but recommend you sit in the dinning room if you want any kind of good service

We used to enjoy a trip for lunch and throw a fee back. Recently, we went in for lunch, and services just weren't like it was, I think it's under new management. The bartender wasn't very attentive. We kept asking for another drink, and she was busy with a friend at the other end. Just disappointed

We wanted to go to the café across the street but it was packed and we noticed this place was empty (first red flag) we ordered drinks that took 10min for a beer and old fashioned. Then we get our appetizers, which the potato skins were so good I took a picture of em. Our server Elizabeth (who seemed annoyed with us from the start) took our entree order when she dropped off our apps. We ordered 2 pasta dishes. Starving we ate our apps and another 45min go by with no food. I looked at the picture I took of the potatoes taken at 7:07pm it was 8:10pm when I got up to see what was taking so long for our food. A 5 top that ordered AFTER us had gotten their food and FINISHED their plates before we got ours. Our server? Just kept passing by, not saying a word to us. Few min after I got up to ask where the food was the manager brings it over and I ordered vodka sauce, she brings me noodles with like 5 pieces of diced tomatoes... she sees my face and offers to bring more sauce (still no server we actually dont see her for the rest of our dining experience) well the sauce was absolutely inedible, looked good but the main ingredient was definitely vodka. I love vodka sauce and im not sure the cooks know you're supposed to cook off the vodka, but with each noodle it tasted like I was taking a warm shot. I was so hungry I tried a couple more bites but felt heart burn coming. They offered to take 50% off our entrees when it should've been completely taken off as I just couldnt eat it. Left hungry and disappointed. If we had better service may want to give it another try but probably won't ever come again.

The crispy half duck was probably the most overcooked, dry, tough entree I've ever ordered at any restaurant. There are many details I could give but would rather forget about the whole practically inedible experience along with the hefty $38 blown. And we REALLY wanted to love this place! Oh and please lower those extremely bright spotlights shining down in main dining room ugh...

I have eaten at this restaurant several times over the past few years. I have always found the food and the portions to be excellent. Unfortunately this wasn't my experience last night. My daughter and I both ordered the chicken and shrimp marsala. Although the dish was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic the portion was a disappointment. Between the two dishes at $21 each for a total of $42 there were four shrimp, not more than 3 ounces of chicken, and 2 cups of pasta. Needless to say we left hungry. I understand that all restaurants have an off night so I am willing to give it one more try, but if I find that the portions do not reflect value and enjoyment for my dollar I will not be returning. I didn't complain at the time of my visit because I was with a party of 10 celebrating a birthday and I didn't want to ruin the experience for any of guests in my party. I hope this is not a new way of doing business for Jackson's restaurant because I have loved and enjoyed this restaurant in the past.

Ordered a burger that came out wrong. Came back again and ordered a chicken sandwich for $15 and the piece of chicken was less than half an inch thick and dry like a piece of leather. Overpriced sub-par food. Do not recommend, much better food for much less in other local establishments. One of the managers is often drunk at the bar, rude to customers and even to other employees. Hope they can get it back together but under current management, not likely.😔

nice staff , unfortunately very disappointed. 32 oz steak dinner I don't understand why they would not use 2 order out containers. Is there a dang shortage?? Everything just crammed in, gravy ond juices dumping out the sides trying to take it out the bag my counter looked like a crime scene... Few months back I Dined in steak was great ,not this time quality has definitely gone down to dirt I tossed it in the trash and I didn't get a salid. You would think $59 and a $10 tip and I picked up it would be quality and good. Next time I'll be ordering from Samson's or the White Stone restaurant. Both use 3 to go containers half the price and better quality.

Jackson’s used to be one of our go to places but since they went up for sale the food has really gone down hill. We went on New Years Eve with a small preset menu. Prices were very high most being over $40 and many being $50+. The food was subpar for the price and the vegetables were very clearly bagged microwaved frozen from the grocery store. This is absolutely unacceptable for the prices. 3 people in our party had severe stomach issues after eating as well. We will not be back which is very disappointing. In response to the below from the owner. I know what frozen vegetables from the supermarket look like. Whether they are delivered twice a week or twice a day is beside the point. The fact that this was not addressed directly makes me believe that they are aware this is the case and know that serving frozen bagged vegetables at all let alone at that price point is dubious at best.

My wife got the Sirloin and immediately didnt like it. I didnt believe her and tried it myself, and it was one of the worst steaks I have ever tried. I got a burger (forgot the name) and again absolutely awful. This also goes with the potato skins we got as an appetizer, and it tasted like it was put in a microwave. Our waitress could care less we were there. I would never go back

BEWARE! Don’t ever use them for a meeting or gathering. They don’t tell you about booking fees or room fees, even when asked to confirm the final price per person when being seated! They quoted $35 per person including tax and tip for the LUNCH buffet (no alcohol included) and then the check was dropped off at the end of the meal for $60 per person!!! When questioned, they reduced the price to $55 per person! Definitely lost 35 customers! Oh, and this is new ownership, so all of the glowing recommendations apparently don’t apply.
