I always have THEEE BEST experience here! Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I enjoyed the happy hour menu tonight which is bomb and have been coming for Thursday’s open mic night with my family for YEARS which is always an amazing time but listen… I have lived in New York my entire life. The Food AND drinks here are AMAZING! A really amazing experience through and through! It’s hard to not be satisfied at The Suga!!!! 10/10 recommend!

Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar offers an outstanding live music experience in an intimate, inviting space. The sound quality was excellent, and the energy in the room made the evening feel special. The staff and servers were warm, attentive, and added to the overall great vibe. The drinks were well-crafted. I had the sangria, which was delicious and beautifully presented with fresh berries and orange slices. Between the music, the atmosphere, and the service, it was a truly memorable night. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates great live performances and a welcoming setting.

Great Food. Atmosphere was pleasant and the ambiance was chill. The area is the Upper West Side. We ordered the catfish nuggets which were very crispy, came with chipotle sauce. Did not have that off putting taste that sometimes catfish has. It tasted fresh. Salad was small but tasty. Lentil bowl was also ordered and it was decent sized but pricier than other places I’ve seen. Amazing bread pudding and banana foster cakes tasted fresh, didn’t really remind me of a pure bananas foster but it was still tasty and not too sweet. And apparently once a month they have a musical Jam session with Darius Booker. Amazing person with great energy.

First time here & everything was super wavyyy! The staff were amazing, very friendly & welcoming vibes. The food was on point … Had a brother like me smiling from ear to ear fr. I don’t eat too much but I definitely had to run the main entree back for a repeat. The Cocktails were a vibe too, definitely worth it. PULL up on a weekend or a chill night. P.S. I had to enjoy myself this time. Next time I’ll add some pictures.

I went there as soon as they opened I got the fried chicken which was wonderful, Mac an cheese was good too it wasn’t overly cheesy the candied yams was a little undercooked but the drink was a 10/10 and the food is a 8/10 I’ll definitely be back

This evening was amazing. My Mom took me here as a Belated Birthday dinner. There restaurant was extremely excellent and customer service was a plus.Inside was extremely clean and the bathroom was extremely clean and well light.The food was excellent and cooked to perfection 👌. The drinks were also on point. Everyone treated me and Mommy extremely professional and so nice.The waiter Demara the hostess were a gem 's💎 ✨️ Thank you for making my Birthday dinner so amazing. I will definitely be bringing my Husband back for dinner. Mommy wants to come for Brunch and I will definitely be making Resversation. Extremely happy customer Timisha and her Mom.

Never disappoints!!! GREAT food, drinks atmosphere and music. I love the Open Mic night (so many talented artists) and Sunday's Brunch. The manager Javier is A+ in my book. The bar and waitstaff is always friendly and timely.Truly feels like a family there. I was pleasantly surprised by the numerous vegetarian friendly options : Veggie Burgers, Tacos, Lentil Soup, Veggie Chilli. Support this Artist/ Black Owned business. Try the Seafood Salad and Street Corner Cocktail...don't forget the Mac and Cheese and Lamb Chops 😋

This spot is IT!! I think my boyfriend and I could have stayed there all night if we wanted with how homely this experience was. We were greeted by an amazing older woman who may have been the owner. The cool thing is, it’s truly a brownstone! The food was phenomenal and not over seasoned! 10/10 would recommend and go again!

Very small, yet cozy establishment. The food was delicious, however, it took almost an hour for us to receive it, thus the food was hot, and satisfying , with large portions. Because of the size of the venue, it was very hard to move around. The entertainment was on point. I had the red snapper, which was huge and delicious, along with the street corner drink. Again the drink and entree was delicious. We also ordered the New Zealand lamp chops, and the seafood linguini. Overall the experience was wonderful, minus the size of the venue and the fact that the entertainment did not start at 8pm as advertised. There is also a cover charge to see live performances. I would recommend this establishment if you are looking for some good food, with live entertainment.

I use to come a lot ! My last visit was not so great! They’re a mandatory to pay coat Check! My girl was cold the hole time! Also her dish was spoiled ! The crab meat! The waiter told the manager an he took care of it! My server Dominic was great! Think I’m take a break !

First timer... the space was great, staff awesome, but the food was not the best. Cooked well but not seasoned. I asked our server is it normally like this, she replied, "our regular cook is off tonight." Drinks were good, overall slightly pricey but not ridiculous. It is a good place for Happy Hour 😁😉🥂🍾

I wouldn’t bother to leave a review if it was just one thing, but there were too many not share, mainly in hopes of correction by the establishment. service was extremely poor, from waiting approx. 30 minutes before a waiter took our order, to waiting 30 minutes for our meals. During that time the salad that was ordered did not brought to the table, no offer of bread or anything while we waited. And the catfish order was wrong and had to be sent back for correction and sweet potatoes were only available for one of us. hot tea was brought to the table with no sugar or milk or anything, the waiter didn’t ask what was needed. One would expect much better from the Sugar Bar; but an undeniable bad customer experience was had. seemingly more attention was paid the Bar area.

My friend and I went for dinner. It was her first time at this restaurant. We had 6pm reservation. The host and waitstaff were on point. The restaurant has a lounge appearance so it is a relaxing environment but very tight in regards to the space. We had Jerk wings and plantains for appetizer. That was good. I had Catfish Collard greens and Mac cheese. It was fair on a scale of 1-10 it was 3. My friend ordered Red Snapper (fried) it looked good but she said it was half cooked and her Peas and Rice did not have good flavor and it was cold. We asked for candied yam or sweet potato and we're told they ran out. I have been to this restaurant several times in the past but this time the food was not good. I would go back for the entertainment (live music) and a drink preferably wine. I hear the mixed drinks are not good.
