I’ll give this place a 5/5 just for being open during a blizzard, servicing locals, stranded tourists and snow cleaners. The latte was great though and the Colombian pastry filled with cheese was excellent. I would recommend and the staff is super friendly.

Love this place! Love the location, its clean, great atmosphere with some seating, the people who work there are both so kind and welcoming, and the prices are great. The Columbian beans are delicious and made a great americano. Additionally they make all the pastries and about half of rhem are gluten free. I had the gf banana oat bread and it was hearty, delicious, and not too sweet. Been here twice already and be back again! Thank you!

What a gorgeous little cafe this is. It’s small but mighty and the Colombian roast coffee is delicious. It’s situated on w21st st- and well worth the visit. The interior is bright and airy, and there’s 5 tables (2 out front). The music is lovely and makes you feel like you’re on a tropical island. A great spot to retreat to. I sat here early Saturday morning and it a delight. The barista was so lovely to chat to. Come visit!

Delicious gluten free baked goods. I had both the oat banana bread and something similar to a Pao bun 👌🙌

I’m picky when it comes to coffee and wanted a place that wasn’t the main specialty coffee roasters. Loved my coffee and was happily surprised with the pandebono, really tasty.

Popped in here after barre class (just a few doors down), and will definitely be adding it to the weekend routine any time we’re in the area! Very friendly staff, and a cute cafe overall. We got two iced mochas, the multigrain croissant, and the oat banana bread. All delicious (can’t go wrong with Columbian coffee beans) but the standout item was the multigrain croissant. A lot of the baked goods were gluten free too.

This is the BEST coffee in Astoria, hands down!. Beautiful and perfect. I get mine with leche condensada and whole milk. Perfection at its best! Try it!. The food is delicious and always freshly made in premises. I've been coming here since pandemic and the quality has not changed at all. They have the best pandebonos in all Queens. I love everything. So glad we have this gem in Astoria. ❤️🙏

A visit here turned “running errands in the city” into “delightful date” — the pandebono reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllyyyyyyyyyy made me smile, and the lavender latte and hot cocoa were both perfect for walking in the frigid cold. It lifted our spirits and gave us the energy to walk around for hours. I’ll be thinking of that pan de bono for days. Thank you!

The staff here was fantastic! From the moment we walked in, they interacted with us and welcomed us like family. The food was amazing all around. I came with a group of 9 people and our waitress was incredible — she got everything spot on and her dish recommendations were perfect. Every single plate we ordered was a hit. And the tiramisu… 10/10, a MUST try. It was so delicious that we were still talking about it the next day — that’s how good it was!

Wonderful, cozy, hidden gem. We had the Moules fries and salade niçoise. Birth were so perfect! Walk inside and you'll be amazed. All Belgian beers on tap - Duval, Le Chouffe, le chamay, Stella, and more. Excellent service!!

AMAZING Burger Great portions Amazing beef tartare Super sweet waitress from Belgium. Mussels are great for NYC quality but prepared with perfect broth sauce—we ordered that first one on the list. I'd eat here everyday if I had that kind of money. Good wait times if you're looking to have a nice conversation. Clean, neat bathroom. I tipped more than average, no regrets 🙏

This place is a great Belgium restaurant! 🇧🇪 BXL Zoute serves a wonderful selection of delicious 🤤 dishes 🍽️ - definitely get the Hanger Steak 🥩 with Fries 🍟 (and a side of amazing Mayonnaise) or their AYCE Mussels! 🦪 Their Chocolate 🍫 Mousse is also fantastic! Service is quick ⏲️, staff 👨‍🍳 is welcoming and friendly, and the place is nicely decorated! 🛋️ I wish we knew about this place earlier!

Very solid little Belgian spot with nice atmosphere. Service was outstanding and attentive. The mussels were excellent! They offer an all you can eat special on Sundays and Mondays so definitely want to get back to try that sometime. The green salad was also excellent - very fresh and well seasoned. The Belgian stew was decent though not my fave. But the dessert - a mousse with cookie crumble and ice cream was amazing. They also have a great selection of Belgian beers on tap. I’ll be back!

Wow! Excellent drinks, appetizers, service, and atmosphere. The staff are very accommodating and attentive. Fantastic drinks, the Belgium beer is fantastic. The Calamari is excellent. The smells coming from the kitchen will have you floating in. The prices were very reasonable. We will be going back to this place for sure!

My husband and I randomly found this restaurant and had a wonderful lunch. I had the meatballs with fries and my husband had the Merguez sandwich. We were able to get a table immediately just after opening on a Saturday. The dining area is clean and beautiful; the decor is light and pleasant. Our server (whose name I regrettably did not record) was attentive and kind. We already have this on our list to repeat next time we visit the city.

Love this place! Big fan of both this location as well as the BXL in times square, but I can confidently say this location is much more comfortable to eat at. Food is delicious (leans savory) and the draft beers pair extremely well. Share the mussels and get an entree; all of them are good, but I definitely recommend the puff pastry and steak tips!

Service was fantastic! Food was good! The steak was nicely cooked! The mussels were good. This is great place to watch a game or to get a nice meal. Definitely recommend the steak tartare, the mussels and the filet mignon! I highly recommend this place!

A decent new coffee shop, small selection of pastries (no price tags for some reason), but no savoury options. The gluten free corn arepa was good but it would be more interesting as a salty thing than sweet. Not very busy on Saturday morning, so a good alternative place to sit and relax with a book and cup of coffee (or green juice). 4% upcharge for card transaction, bring your cash.

A decent spot around midtown, limited seats. Some pastry options. Coffee was strong in general. My cold brew today was really dark.

Staff is very friendly and the food was really good. We sat in the very back and it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation, a nice surprise in a NY restaurant. Our dining party enjoyed mussels, chicken and beef stew. Everyone liked their meal. The beef stew was not what I think of as stew, more like a bowl of beef with gravy, no vegetables or potatoes. This may be a French or Belgian thing though. All in all a nice place and good food.

We went specifically for the bitterballen. The texture was perfect but there was something missing in the flavor. Also, I would prefer that they not each be served sitting on mustard. I would rather have the option to dip them myself.

A taste of home ! The food was excellent the fries are authentic Belgium !!! And the pepper steak was delicious ! If you want to experience the flavors of Belgium I highly recommend coming here !

This spot is average at best. Barista barely gave me a glance and said nothing until she called out my drink. I wasn’t very impressed, and there are better spots in the same area. For a place with this name, the service was far from :3

This place has been a hidden gem with great food for decades. Recent renovation replaced the wood bar with laminate “metal” sheeting (why), and added fluorescent lighting, which unfortunately stripped a lot of the charm and old school cool from this restaurant. It reads cheap now. Fortunately the food is still good, but I won’t be bringing friends here anymore for the vibes.

BXL Zoute is a bit of a mixed bag for me. On one hand, the Belgian beer selection is amazing—seriously, if you’re into Belgian brews, this place is a goldmine. They’ve got a huge variety, and you can tell they’ve put thought into curating a legit lineup. Same goes for the food—it’s very authentic, with a menu that really captures that European vibe. I mean, how often do you find bitterballen in NYC? The dishes are unique, well-made, and genuinely transport you to a cozy European bistro. But then there’s the price. It’s expensive. Like, I get that it’s authentic and in a prime location, but still—both the food and drinks feel overpriced, even for Manhattan. The real kicker, though, is the service. It’s not outright rude, just… indifferent. You can tell they’re going for that laid-back European vibe, but it crosses the line into neglect. Waiting for refills or the check felt like forever, and it wasn’t even that busy. Overall, BXL Zoute has its charm, especially if you’re craving authentic Belgian eats and a great beer, but the high prices and meh service keep it from being a standout for me. Solid 3 stars—worth a try if you’re in the mood, but maybe not a place I’d rush back to.

Coffee is so bad. How you mess up a good thing. Empanada hurt my teeth since the outside part was stale but the inside was a little alright

Nostalgia has its place, but it's not nyc coffee. This was easily the worst of any visit since the 90s. Truly. See those bubbles? Not a thing. Texturing the milk, then integrating by swirling and if need be knocking out some, leaves the milk shiny, smooth and creamy. That's essentially what you're paying for. Then there's temperature. 150 is ideal, and you stop around 135-140 and it'll keep rising to around 150. Once you pass 160, the game is over. The milk loses all potential and starts to lose flavour. As a former owner of a 1100 coffee a day place, I can tell you this was minimum 170. It scalds on impact and it'll be a long recovery. Why didn't I take it back? Any barista capable of this isn't going to suddenly gain the acumen and or pride to remake this. He needs the time and care to learn the craft. The lack of which is the responsibility of the owner. Good machine and friendly guy. Sorry mate, at $6.50 it's gotta be decent at least.

Wish I could leave a great review like the others but that wasn’t our experience. Unfriendly service. Terrible coffee. It was incredibly bitter and bad tasting coffee, especially if you know what a great espresso shot should taste like. The inside was so crowded and tight. Not a great experience.

The owner or the manager behind the bar is pompous and navigated the bar as if he’s above serving people who are at the bar. I popped in at 3pm on a Sunday - 1 other person is at the bar. The owner proceeds to spray a cleaning solution on the bar right in front of where I’m sitting to wipe it up. It was clean already. Now it smells like cleaning solution. I asked him if I could have a club soda. He called a bus boy or server over to poor it for me, rather than doing it himself as he was behind the bar. I ordered an onion soup - which was bland. The cheese was charred, which was good. I ask him for the check. He printed it and then called over the same bus boy to serve it to me, rather than serving it himself. He did say a thing to me. No hospitality at all. The server/bus boy was very kind and pleasant. The owner/manager, just horrible customer service and general hospitality. Hospitable acts cost no money at all, they just require intent and effort. This guy doesn’t seem to get it. There are plenty of other great French restaurants in nyc. This is not one of them.

Robin
Robin

We had an extremely disappointing experience here because the duck l’orange was served practically raw and there was no sauce to enjoy with it. I asked the server to cook the duck and please provide the sauce. It was like a watery orange juice with no flavor. The vegetables were served extremely sparingly. The service was really bad. I couldn’t believe that the bartender as he was serving drinks was eating french fries with his fingers and licking his fingers and serving drinks. It was shocking and clearly a health hazard. There was a snobby and rude waitress who ignored us. I imagine that the cook is not French because this is not an authentic French restaurant. We will never return to this uncomfortable restaurant.
