We were at Cafe Carlyle this week to see Bill Murray, and it was absolutely wonderful! The show itself was fantastic, but the entire experience of being at Cafe Carlyle was top notch. The staff was wonderful, and Mr. Gogo specifically was very helpful and accommodating. It was a very special night and an honor to be able to have the experience of being at such an iconic spot!

Had a wonderful time seeing Sutton Foster at Cafe Carlyle over the holidays. An old school fancy New York City establishment and great vibes. A few helpful notes for those interested in visiting: Opt for an earlier reservation, as the host allows you to choose from various open tables. We had a 645 seating for the 830 show and had a great table near the bar with unobstructed views and a tad more room. Dress code: Formal, however, a man can certainly get away without a jacket these days. I had a jacket and slacks but removed my jacket upon entering as the space is tad stuffy, some men just had one sweater. So dress for style and comfort not stuffy. The food: We had the $95pp dinner (separate cost from the tickets and does not include drinks), and it was okay. Kinda reminded me of airport lounge food, nothing to write home about, but we were there for 3 hours, so we had to eat. If cost is a factor or if you plan to eat before, opt for bar seating, as the minimum spend is lower and still a great view. Overall, a great time, I recommend splurging on a visit for a performer you would love to see up close and personal (which was Sutton Foster for me).

OK, I think we all know this is a pretty classy spot. The room is very attractive. We went for dinner and a show. Tables are tight. It is an eclectic mix of guests. Lighting is low. We were offered a choice of tables despite the fact that we purchased general admission. The food actually exceeded our expectations. Fairly basic dishes but flavourful. Lobster bisque, baby romaine salad, roast chicken & salmon hit the mark. We were treated royally throughout the evening. Service is impeccable. Alberto took very good care of us. Mind you, it is not an inexpensive evening. The show, our meal, pre-dinner drinks, a bottle of wine & gratuity was close to $1000. This is a special night out. You should try it at least once.

The Carlyle is one of those places you either "get" or you don't and I definitely "get". Love everything about the Carlyle Hotel including Cafe Carlyle. It has style, class, a timelessness. Put on your best and enjoy an atmosphere like no other.

Such a beautiful, intimate venue. Perfect place to see a performer in a small, cozy setting. The food was excellent, there's not a bad seat in the house. Pricey, but so very worth it.

This is my favorite hotel in the city because of the old New York charm. Magic always happens here. On this night I bumped into Reese Witherspoon and got to watch a mesmerizing jazz performance by Dianna Agron. That said, I wish they would include the price of dinner in the tickets since there is a mandatory minimum spend. I thought dinner was included with the tickets. It’s not. Alas, it was a beautifully pricy evening winding back the clock to old New York. 🕰️🗽🎷🍸

There's nothing quite like an evening at the Carlyle , the premier cabaret in town. Dining here brings me immense joy, and witnessing the live performances elevates the experience to something truly exceptional.

This is a must if you're going to be in NYC. Even if you just pop in for a cocktail on a Tuesday night. It's like being in another time. Servers on tux, beautiful art, top notch drinks, and just an all around treat.

It’s been for a while since I wanted to come for afternoon tea at the Carlyle cafe, and now it became my second favorite place for afternoon tea in the city. My daughter, my daughter in law and I, we go every month to a different tea salon, but for some reason never got a chance to try it at the Carlyle. Perhaps, we saved it for a special occasion. I loved everything, the red water glasses 👍, the decor, the ambiance small quiet room, the tea selection, the food (little scones baked at the premises are just delicious), and most of all - exceptional service. Gilberto, our server, went above and beyond to ensure that our tea service experience was beyond superb. Everything was just perfect. We came with two toddlers and a month old baby. Our first afternoon tea with the new family addition! Glad we picked this room. What a wonderful and unforgettable experience, we enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you! Can’t wait to be back. P.s. one little comment on sugar packets- brown sugar cubes would make the whole experience even better ☺️

The best hotel because of the people here. It's a dream being here...even though we are not celebrities we felt as though we were. The service is hands down the best we have ever experienced. We just got married and ended out our journey being here which was my surprise gift from my husband. Love this historic hotel..special thanks to Johnathan at the front desk for being so amazing.

Brunch at the Carlyle is so fabulously luxurious. You are greeted, seated at perfectly appointed tables with gorgeous linens and then offered big fat menus. We came on a day that was simply horrid with rain so sitting and chilling was just right and a slow relaxed brunch was heaven. No one was rushing and in NYC that is something of a miracle! Brunch is 3 courses and so large and so delicious. They always have a glorious hunk of meat in the trolley and it is not to be missed. We were stuffed but dessert was awesome. After the longest brunch we headed to the iconic Bemelman’s bar for a cocktail. Now this is what Sunday is all about. Please follow @joannasable on instagram for more food and travel fun.

Went to Cafe Carlyle for M. Ward residency, about 25-30 tables, $95 food minimum requirement each for tables and $50 minimum requirement each for bar, dress code requirement- jacket requirement for men, sneakers and jeans were okay. All workers/staff are older men like they’ve all been there a long time? But there was really no bad seat in the house and we were able to change our 1830 reservation to 1930 and still get a good view from stage. Food isn’t worth the $95 minimum each so would do bar seating if we do come back for a show. Overall a memorable experience!

A bit pricy but I guess you expect that when you go to the Carlyle. Food was delicious though. Reservations are required if you don’t want to wait on a (long) line.

I came here for afternoon Tea with my group this past June. The decor alone takes you in-I looove. Though it is a small space, you do not feel as if people can intrude on your conversation- the layout has been well planned to exude intimacy but also a feeling of spaciousness. The spread was adequate. I recommend the peaches and ginger tea if your into spicy sweet. I had the Tropical green which is more on the herbal side.My only objection is the packet sugar. It screams diner and cheapens the experience. Sugar cubes are a must.

It’s all about the entertainment and the location. Food is anywhere from awful to ok. We ordered a Penne with mushrooms. Dish was lukewarm, bland and the pasta was overcooked. Honestly, at the prices they charge they should be ashamed to serve a dish like this. We should have sent it back, but we picked at it and ate half. This was the equivalent of room service at a motel 6. I told the waiter that it wasn’t good, he told me he’d tell the staff so they know the next time we come back. They had a nice cheese plate, but $49 for a small plate is a lot. Best part was the fries, and the butter (bread was soft). The room is gorgeous and we loved the entertainment, but I’m never going back.

Beautiful old school vibe. Service could use some polish and bartenders don't know how to make drinks outside their menu. Stick w menu cocktails or get some wine :) didnt like the old fashioned or French mule they failed miserably making... Trio band comes after 930pm w cover charge of 35 per person. They take 15 min breaks after playing 15 minutes and then disappear after about 11pm. Not impressed w service or apps.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was truly disappointing. While the food itself was good, the service was absolutely terrible and ruined the evening. From the beginning, our waiter never introduced himself, never mentioned any specials, and didn’t even bother to ask if we were ready to order. We had to call him over just to place our order. I asked for steak tartare as an appetizer and Bronzino as my main course. About 15 minutes later, the captain came to our table acting as though he was about to take our order again, which left us confused since we had already placed it. When we told him so, he seemed frustrated and started removing our menus from the table, in a manner like as it was our fault that the menus were still on a table, asking then why the waiter didn’t remove the menus. When the food finally arrived, a different waiter brought me a dinner-sized steak tartare instead of the appetizer portion I had ordered. I pointed this out, and he said he would “fix” it. Ten minutes later, yet another staff member came over—not to apologize, but to argue with me, insisting there was only one size of steak tartare on the menu. If that’s the case, why did the waiter say he would change it? The staff clearly weren’t communicating with each other and left us feeling uncomfortable. To make matters worse, our drinks took about 40 minutes to arrive. Overall, the service was disorganized, unprofessional, and by far the worst dining experience I have ever had—especially at a place that calls itself a luxury restaurant. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on the service we received.

The reputation does not precede the Carlyle Cafe. The atmosphere is dated but semi-elegant. Their dress code is old fashioned and not needed; times have changed-get with the times! Purchased tickets to see a performer that I had been wanting to see. I was so happy she was performing at The Carlyle as it is a smaller venue and I would get to be up close with the performer. I plaid extra for VIP/Premium Seating. When I arrived (40 min before my allotted time) I was stuck in a a table in a row of 6 tables. The people on each side of me were so close you would think we were the same party. Being forced to dine with the Cafe is the only way they would get patrons-their food Sucks. Their staff is horrible. The room is cramped-the waitstaff continued to bump my chair-never saying excuse me. After paying a premium for the show tickets-I was VERY unhappy to be seated in a squished seating-and then. Forced to purchase over priced food. My glass if Chardonnay was $30 while my after dinner coffee was $15. I don’t mind paying for good food, I have been to restaurants and paid $550 per person for a tasting menu and enjoyed every moment and bite. But to pay $95 for a small salad and steak tartare in a cramped room with rude staff; isnt my cup of tea. LOVED the performance, LOVED it. They wait until the end of the performance to bring everyone-Yes, everyone in the venue (over 60) their checks. Yep, 60 plus checks-and cc-tho be handleded at one time-I had to stand and wait over 20 min to pay and get my cc back. Inefficient. Did I mention their staff is rude? Yes, well, let me mention it a 4th time. RUDE!
