This place went beyond my expectations… The arroz de la plancha was crispy and divine. The setting was also cozy and atmospheric.
Great new joint that will fast become your favourite place to hang. The food and wine are from two alums that really know their game. Check it out!
Amazing food. Beautiful decor. Small but excellent by the glass wine selection.
The perfect combination of a delicious menu and great ambiance. the scallops and the chicken are to die for!
Went for drinks and a bite with friends...so amazing in all ways. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. I am so glad to have them open in the neighborhood!
Enjoyed the food and ambiance!
Incredible wine bar, great wines and food, delightful atmosphere
Perfectly executed French inspired plates. Great for sharing, get 2-3 plates per person.
Amazing restaurant!! I love the food. Servers. Atmosphere. Everything is great. 10/10.
Demo is exceptional, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Leo was a great server and had very good recommendations as well!
Best Dinner I’ve had in NYC this year (or in a while) Great specials & great hidden details in seemingly simple food. You can taste how good the product is , as well as the technique behind it, without it being overly fabricated or showy for the sake of covering up bland food (which happens a lot in kitchens these days). Good vibes & a good time!
Highly recommend!!! I went there for a dinner and it was one of the best dining experience I had. The food was DELICIOUS, everything was tasty- from the scallops, to the lingua, to the steak and fish. The foccacia was a big hit as well! The service was great and the waiters were really attentive to us. Shoutout to Ian, Ren, Pierre and the chef, Q, who all took great care of us. I will definitely be back!
This place has easily become one of my favorite spots in the city! Every dish we tried was delicious, and the service was top-notch. From start to finish, it was an amazing dining experience. Highly rec!
Incredible spot. Food, wine, and vibe all unmatched. Love the red marble countertops. Feels like a timeless NYC restaurant that i will keep coming back to. Food is outstanding. Big flavors coming out of simple elegant dishes. The strip steak with red pepper is a combo that will live in infamy from here on out. All that said the wine program may be the best part. Whose ever in charge is a mastermind. Spot is perfect for any intimate occasion or just grabbing a glass and posting at the bar. Staff is super knowledgeable and really down to earth. Demo is a MUST!!
Incredible ambiance, service, food 10/10, really fresh and delicious flavors!
Ordered the spaghetti & meatballs through GoldBelly. Arrived in two days. We put it directly in the fridge... it took us about 10 days before having an opportunity to sit down for a meal at home. It was DELICIOUS! We live in Oregon, and it was interesting to taste the difference... I wanted something that tasted authentic & I that's exactly what I received! I got Hubby points for everything & the meal made a great centerpiece for the night.
Great food! Our favorites were the scallop crudo, Arroz a la Plancha, and the steak. Steak was perfectly cooked and I loved the pepper accompaniment. Many good non-alcoholic drink options as well! Ended obviously with the banana pudding which was melt in your mouth incredible. Thanks Demo :)
If you're in doubt, go! It's been a while since I went to Demo for dinner but I just can't stop thinking about it, it was THAT good! Just came here to make another reservation and thought, well, it's time to leave a review, I just can't wait to be back. Great place!
I want to take back everything I've ever said about the quality of restaurants in America. Nothing in any other restaurant is as good as I've tasted in Demo!!! Big shout out to the cook, Kiu, the server, Ren, and the manager, Ian!! It's a spot I will keep coming back. I recommend EVERYTHING.
This is the best restaurant that I have been to in a long time. The food is amazing. We had the focaccia, arroz a la plancha, soft shell crab, tuna collar and the steak. Everything was prepared perfectly. The wine is amazing and the service is impeccable.
Amazing food and ambience. Everything was delicious. My favorites were the scallop, focaccia, and arroz a la plancha. You can't go wrong with anything though. Will definitely be back!
Great spot to get wine! They have a great selection and knowledgeable staff. The Laurent Lebled was very good. The special dessert was delicious! Will definitely come back for wines and snacks.
Don’t let these pictures or the simple menu fool you. This is an amazing culinary journey, created and supported by a most passionate team of professionals - from the Maitre d’ to the sommelier, server, saucier and head chef…the food and wine is simply wonderful! A truly memorable meal. This resi will not be easy to get once the word gets out. Bravo!
the food and wine are both spectacular. we had the roast chicken and it was divine. excited to come back :)
The food was absolutely amazing. Great spot to grab food and wine with friends. The service was great and they gave us great recommendations. I’ll definitely be coming back here! My highlights were the Crab Casino and the Arroz a la Plancha.
Had my birthday dinner here last night. The food was phenomenal to say the least, the wait staff was so kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating! Already can’t wait to go back.
A restaurant this neighborhood needed! living front bar/cafe and a bustling seating area with booths in the back. Tortilla and arroz a la plancha are musts. Same with the banana pudding. Wine list might be the best in nyc as of late with surprisingly reasonable prices and a mix of approachable and forward thinking options.
great coffee, even better wine. delicious food too. perfect for a date night or night out with friends. will def be back, as long as i can get a res!!
I’d go back over and over for the arroz a la plancha - and the wine list was great for all sortsa spenders!
Highly recommend. A fantastic meal and excellent service. The ambience was perfect for a date or a cozy meal with close friends.
Super cute restaurant with some amazing food. Their focaccia is amazing! The lobster frites were amazing as well. The service was some of the best service I’ve had in New York City in a minute, super attentive, kind and just knowledgeable. I’d 86 the cow tongue dish though tbh missing some flavor and I’m not sure about cow tongue at room temp. Maybe cut thicker served hot some chimichurri sauce idk. Other than that this place is fab.
Walking into this place, I did not expect to love it as much as I did. It might look like your average, cute NYC wine bar, but in fact it is so much more. To start, the service was sublime, granting multiple tastes to ensure sure we ended up with the wine we were happy with. The food was some of the freshest I have ever had. My favorite was the scallop crudo. I’m still dreaming of it. We also loved the focaccia & olive oil, crab casino, the fluke, and every dessert! Perfect date vibe - I’d fall in love with anyone who’d take me here!
Genuinely the kind of restaurant that made me fall for this city's culinary scene. The food is beautiful, the service is a delight, and the ambiance is perfect. It's design-forward and original without feeling like they tried too hard, but we all know this kind of seemingly effortless vibe takes a lot of work to achieve. My new favorite spot. Do NOT skip the banana pudding.
Ours was a perfect meal. I went with a longtime friend not knowing what to expect but it was an evening to remember. We were treated as royalty with charming and attentive service. We started with the focaccia, which had a moist crumb and a crispy crust. The spreads and toppings we got for the bread were so good, we were in danger of filling up even before the appetizers arrived. A delicious problem to have. Then the mackerel with pickled shallots were a perfect pairing. The tongue with tuna and caper berries melted in your mouth with a briny kick. The butter beans were recommended and excellent. They vastly exceeded what you might think they could be. Even after each dish being near perfect, the gemelli with duck confit ragu was the highlight and cannot be beat. Really, everything was fantastic. We finished it off with the best banana pudding you’ll ever have. Combine all this with well-recommended wine pairings and it was one of those magical evenings where everything is just right.
100/10 experience! Pierre (our waiter) was so attentive and sweet. He was patient with our table and took the time to suggest good wine pairings and explain all his favorite dishes and specials. We all left the evening with a favorite restaurant. Definitely a repeat offender…we will be back!
Absolutely incredible dishes and amazing downtown restaurant vibe. Favorite was the focaccia
Well executed and interesting dishes without being overly precious. Would definitely order the scallop crudo, lobster au poivre, crab casino, arroz, and banana pudding again. Cute for a date, solo dining, or a small group (we were 4).
Creativity meets real comfort here! We loved the attention to detail and the hospitality here. Was treated really nicely and the staff is knowledgeable and easy-going. I really recommend going for a date night or a dinner with a friend. The dishes are superb and great for sharing! Sososososoooo happy I went.
We were so excited for the opening day! Everything we ordered was tasty but especially Lengua Tonnata and Arroz a la Plancha… and the best part was Banana Pudding! You must order this. Our server was really sweet and caring. Overall really dark, bit small space, and didn’t like seeing the restroom door open while we were having dinner.
A lovely spot for a small group or date. The menu has plenty of variety and bright flavors--everything we tried was executed well and beautifully presented, made to share. Lobster au poivre was our favorite, that sauce was so special. Excellent natural wine list as well. Finally, we loved the lighting and seating, and their team is wonderful!
Really surprised by how good Demo was. We had to wait a bit even with a reservation but the staff was very apologetic about it and added a few extra sides. Would recommend the the arroz, fluke, and banana pudding!
Incredible experience at Demo! The food was 100/100 and the staff was professional and welcoming. My friends and I had a great time—highly recommend."
A well curated vibe from the moment you walk in. Service is great. The food is out of this world chef Q and Dina are master minds in the kitchen. Fantastic wine program.
Everything we tried was delicious. The mushroom dish and the banana pudding were delicious. The service was incredible, our food came out at perfect timings and our hostess was super knowledgeable about the wines. Will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu
Fantastic. The food was top notch, inventive but not pretentious. The wine list is worth exploring, you’ll deff learn something new! Service was great, I feel like this is a place I’d like to become a regular of
The food is tremendously delicious. They have a great range of wine options. Atmosphere is cozy and service is good.
Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Went for Valentine's day and the servers were so cool and kind and gave great recommendations. Usually I do not expect anything particularly amazing for food at a wine bar but the food at Demo is innovative and delicious. 10/10 experience and this will absolutely become a regular spot.
Outstanding dinner in a small gem of a restaurant. The fluke was an incredible layering of flavors and the focaccia to die for. We will return for the banana pudding - the strawberry shortcake was excellent. Only complaint was the noise level.
WOW! Just wow! I’ve been meaning to eat at Demo and it blew us away. Firstly, our server was amazing! She gave great recs and they all aligned with our likings. All the dishes were phenomenal! Especially cabbage and the arroz a la plancha. The semifreddo special was very delicious and the banana pudding was perfect. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Went to try this spot and had a great experience. Food was excellent, very creative and draws from French and new American cuisines and preparations. Each dish was very creative and delicious. Beer and wine only here, but they had some interesting orange ones on the menu. Service was decent, the place seemed a bit plain, and the plate ware could have been nicer but overall the courses were incredible. Would return for sure. EXCELLENT DESSERTS! Good value for the price.
Exceeded expectations! Every dish was really yummy, and the wine list is approachable and high quality. Definitely recommend the splurge!
Wonderful creative cooking and an outstanding staff! I’m a natural wine skeptic and we had some great chats finding wines that suit my preferences and our meal. Don’t miss the beans or the fluke!
Demo brings an intimate European experience to New York. The dry aged is the best I’ve ever had and the lobster is the sexiest bite. The staff are amongst the kindest and most welcoming people as well. Demo is my flex restaurant and always my first recommendation for anyone looking to dine somewhere new.
A cozy wine bar serving up unique, delicious food. Servings were generous. We loved the mackerel dish and the specials of the evening which were the leeks and skate. Service was helpful and professional. We didn’t partake in enjoying any wine this evening but I was impressed by the bottles I saw being served.
Loved every dish here. Highlights of the night went to marinated squid and arroz a la plancha - full of flavors and very well balanced.
Such a good spot for either a date or small group dinner! Getting plates to share was the best way to go 🙂 impressive wine list and really lovely and attentive staff! OH and don't forget to leave room for dessert. Definitely want to come back!
Birthday dinner! First visit! So good! The food was multi layered; thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Kudos to Leo and especially Grace for their kindness and warmth.
Beautiful & Intimate space with an ever-changing seasonal menu AND a natural wine selection that was the chef’s kiss and cherry on top 🍷 Would highly recommend this joint for romance & a great night out 🫶🏾
Lovely wine bar with a wide selection of classic and interesting wine options. Food pairings were great, especially the arroz a la plancha, the roast chicken and the beef tongue. Ambiance is very classy as well
Cute wine bar- the arroz with mushrooms & cheese was exceptional.
Demo delivers a thoughtful, well-executed menu in a warm, intimate setting — ideal for a group of four, especially with their cozy booth seating. Every dish we tried was a standout. The lengua tonnata was tender and delicately dressed; the scallop crudos bright and clean; and the marinated squid perfectly balanced in texture and acidity. The crab casino offered a rich, savory bite, while the arroz a la plancha — a seared, saffron-scented rice dish with a crisp socarrat — brought depth and comfort. The half chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, far beyond what you’d expect from a typical menu staple. Banana pudding is a must have. Save some room for it! Easily the best I’ve had — silky, layered, and not overly sweet.

Nice trendy intimate spot. Food was really good, a little on the saltier side. -Winter salad: citrusy fresh and delicious. – Casino crab: my favorite of the evening, light but rich, delicious cheese crust – Buttered beans: light bean soup, not overwhelming, good to warm you up and break up the meal - Half chicken: juicy thigh and wing, breast was on the drier side, well seasoned, could go a little easier on the salt Music is great service is superb, they know their wines, very pleasant and friendly. We’ll be back in the spring
Demo in the West Village is one of those rare restaurants that quietly lives rent-free in my mind long after my visits to NYC. I visited in Fall ’24 and again in Fall ‘25, and both times every dish was a hit — not a single miss on the table. The fries with saffron aioli were addictive, the special we had was the ricotta dumpling and it was impossibly light and rich at the same time. The half chicken was simply perfect. Even the vegetables felt elevated — bright, deeply flavored, and beautifully composed. What really made both visits special was the staff. They were warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and made our group feel genuinely cared for — not rushed, not performative, just thoughtful hospitality at its best. I brought guests with me both times, and the team guided them through wine pairings that were spot-on for each course and perfectly suited to everyone’s tastes Demo isn’t just delicious — it’s memorable, gracious, and quietly extraordinary.
Have been here twice in the laps of a year apart and both times consistently good and consistent in flavor, service is perfect. You don’t feel rushed, it’s genuine and they are always keeping an eye on you to make sure you are good. Food is unique but recognizable which is something not a lot of places have. 10/10
I had a really enjoyable dinner at Demo in the West Village. It’s a cozy wine bar with thoughtful, well-crafted food. Asian chefs? But American Mediterranean cuisine. The standout dishes for me were the mushroom plate and the crab dish. The wines were also delicious and paired nicely with the food throughout the evening, which made the whole experience flow. Service was friendly and easy going. The waiters were attentive without being intrusive, and they made good recommendations that fit the menu and our tastes. The atmosphere felt lively without being noisy, a place where you can linger over food and drink without feeling rushed. I think we were there for nearly three hours! I’d definitely go back next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Nice wines. Very good service. Good atmosphere. The food was OK.
The fries and banana pudding were amazing
Great new spot! They take walk ins and reservations but I highly recommend grabbing a spot at the bar - think of this spot bringing all the cool energy of brooklyn wine bars (think PDF or four horsemen) and bringing it to manhattan! Food was on point, wine excellent and service was warm and knowledgeable. Also truly some of the best focaccia I’ve ever had!
Very good food with unique twists to familiar dishes. Each dish seems to emphasize one flavor, so it's ideal to order many to share. The pasta let me down, the tomato sauce was sour and it didn't have the complexity of the other dishes I tried. The waiter was very attentive. The place is cozy and not too loud for NYC, but the tables are a little too close to each other.
Bit of a tight fit in regards to seating and spacing (close to other diners). Just food, no drinks. Food was decent, wasn't wowed but it also wasn't bad, nothing was under/over cooked. Service and hospitality was excellent though. Nice ambiance and vibes. Think this would be a great spot for a date night or drinks with a friend or two, intimate setting and portions aren't that big. Banana pudding was really good. Clean bathroom.
Demo surprised me. For such a tiny wine bar, the food really delivers. I went against my gut and ordered the mackerel, which missed the mark, but everything else was outstanding. The guanciale pasta was rich and comforting, and the banana pudding was so good I ended up looking up recipes for days afterward. The space is super intimate, almost too much so, since you feel like you’re sharing a table with strangers. Still, the wine is good, the food is better, and it’s a cool little option on the West Side. I wouldn’t cross town for it, but if you’re nearby, it’s worth checking out.
Great food and wine selection! I tried the lobster and a few appetizers such as the scallops but my favorite was the foraccia. I asked the bartender to surprise me with different red wines and they picked very well.
Booked for NYE and had a great meal and a positive experience overall. I definitely intend to come back in the future, especially if there are new additions to the menu. However, I was a little disappointed by the arroz. The mushrooms were all dry and a little tough. Some were charred to the point of bitterness. In the moment, I wondered if the dish was just not to my taste. However, looking at pictures that others have posted here, I think this may have been a mistake on the part of the kitchen. In the future, I hope they’re more attentive to this issue. This kind of inconsistency is disappointing for a $200 meal.

Running a restaurant is hard, I get it. But with the price customers pay, service needs to be better. Was shown to a tight table, which is fine. But the waiter was just deeply uninterested in explaining the menu and dishes. And there was then another waiter serving who atleast smiled at us. That was nice. Do better next time. Make the customer feel welcome.
The food is incredibly mid and overpriced for what it is. I'm not sure if I came on a bad night or what, but I can't comprehend the 5 star reviews others are leaving. The portion sizes are also quite small, so you can easily spend $200 for two and leave feeling like you could stop for a burrito at Son del North next door.
The atmosphere and server with super friendly! However the food itself was mid. My favorite dish was the fluke, which blended well with the butter and capers + spinach side. My least favorite dish was the beef tongue which was a little too overcooked and didnt pair particularly well with the mayo in my opinion.
My meal was pretty good. Got a few of the smaller dishes and a cocktail. What really bothered me was the stools at the bar. If you're going to be a fancy, hard-to-get-into restaurant you simply CANNOT seat people at a counter-height bar with bar-height stools. It feels like you're eating our of your lap.
The atmosphere was great. The food was so mid. The scallop crudo had such a stinky aftertaste and the waiter kept saying it was fresh and a lot of people ordered it. Okay and? Just admit that the scallop was not fresh is that hard? We also ordered the ribeye steak by MP. They couldn’t give us a fattier meat. All of the corner parts of my meat is fat, like pure fat. My other friend went here half year ago and had such a wonderful time. Don’t know what’s going on now but definitely need consistency on the food. Disappointed for sure. Cannot recommend the service either. (Unfortunately we had the same waiter, the one with dark beard, that another reviewer posted on here, too, single-handedly ruined the whole experience).

The food and wine was good, but when we walked in, the hostess looked down upon us from head to toe before deciding to seat us after consulting with 2 other hostess (and they looked down to us once again). We were told we'd have the table for an hour and a half, which was fine with our party. About 40 minutes into our meal, after finishing dessert, while we were still working on our wine, the waiter abruptly placed the bill on our table. He returned within the next 5 minutes, asking if we were paying with Apple Pay. As an Asian woman, I can't help but feel like our party is not welcomed here.
Overrated and overpriced. Sour scallops and salty banana pudding.
It is an overrated restaurant. The constant pressure from people waiting right next to you makes the experience awkward and rushed, and the bar seating is poorly designed, the chairs are too high for the bar, forcing you to hunch over. Overall, uncomfortable. I won’t be back.
One of your employees singlehandedly ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. This little man with a dark beard was shockingly rude. When I politely asked how his day was, he responded, “What does that matter?” I’ve never had anyone in a restaurant respond that way. I always make an effort to be polite to service workers, but this individual was blatantly rude while I was sitting in your restaurant. I stayed silent at the time out of respect for the rest of my party, but it left a lasting impression. To make matters worse, the steak arrived cold and completely unseasoned. I can forgive an off night in the kitchen, but not the lack of basic courtesy and professionalism from staff. One person can ruin the entire atmosphere for a party, and unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened here.
Had a very frustrating experience here last night. Despite having a reservation and arriving on time, we were left standing at the entrance for over 10 minutes without a single word of explanation. The female staff member who checked us in was incredibly cold—she walked past us multiple times while serving others, completely ignoring our presence as if we were invisible. We stood there awkwardly until a different, more professional staff member finally noticed and helped us get seated. This total lack of basic hospitality and communication completely ruined the mood for the night.
We were very disappointed with this restaurant. First, we ordered a $150 bottle of Cornas, which I always love. They opened it in the back, not in front of us, which I really didn't like. It didn't taste like any Cornas I've ever had, mostly red fruit like a Chianti. Bad start. Then, we asked how many plates were recommended. She told us five to six, two from each section. We ordered five, only one was a main (fish). It was grossly too much food and made me feel unwell. We had wanted to enjoy a dessert, but we were stuffed without even finishing the other food. I noticed other diners were getting only one starter and one main (the steak) which was enormous and more than enough food for two people. I feel like the server took advantage causing us to spend way more than necessary and have a sub par experience. Bill was approximately $400. More than anywhere else we ate and the most disappointing experience.

Overall, the experience was good, but altering the tip amount I left is absolutely unacceptable and completely crosses the line.
Cozy atmosphere, the chicken was tender and steak was amazing. However, my wife and I both got diarrhea after the meal. Scallop might not be fresh, taste bit fishy.
