Opinions de Demo New York
Creativity meets real comfort here! We loved the attention to detail and the hospitality here. Was treated really nicely and the staff is knowledgeable and easy-going. I really recommend going for a date night or a dinner with a friend. The dishes are superb and great for sharing! Sososososoooo happy I went.
We were so excited for the opening day! Everything we ordered was tasty but especially Lengua Tonnata and Arroz a la Plancha… and the best part was Banana Pudding! You must order this. Our server was really sweet and caring. Overall really dark, bit small space, and didn’t like seeing the restroom door open while we were having dinner.
A lovely spot for a small group or date. The menu has plenty of variety and bright flavors--everything we tried was executed well and beautifully presented, made to share. Lobster au poivre was our favorite, that sauce was so special. Excellent natural wine list as well. Finally, we loved the lighting and seating, and their team is wonderful!
Really surprised by how good Demo was. We had to wait a bit even with a reservation but the staff was very apologetic about it and added a few extra sides. Would recommend the the arroz, fluke, and banana pudding!
Incredible experience at Demo! The food was 100/100 and the staff was professional and welcoming. My friends and I had a great time—highly recommend."
A well curated vibe from the moment you walk in. Service is great. The food is out of this world chef Q and Dina are master minds in the kitchen. Fantastic wine program.
Everything we tried was delicious. The mushroom dish and the banana pudding were delicious. The service was incredible, our food came out at perfect timings and our hostess was super knowledgeable about the wines. Will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu
Fantastic. The food was top notch, inventive but not pretentious. The wine list is worth exploring, you’ll deff learn something new! Service was great, I feel like this is a place I’d like to become a regular of
The food is tremendously delicious. They have a great range of wine options. Atmosphere is cozy and service is good.
Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Went for Valentine's day and the servers were so cool and kind and gave great recommendations. Usually I do not expect anything particularly amazing for food at a wine bar but the food at Demo is innovative and delicious. 10/10 experience and this will absolutely become a regular spot.
Outstanding dinner in a small gem of a restaurant. The fluke was an incredible layering of flavors and the focaccia to die for. We will return for the banana pudding - the strawberry shortcake was excellent. Only complaint was the noise level.
WOW! Just wow! I’ve been meaning to eat at Demo and it blew us away. Firstly, our server was amazing! She gave great recs and they all aligned with our likings. All the dishes were phenomenal! Especially cabbage and the arroz a la plancha. The semifreddo special was very delicious and the banana pudding was perfect. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Went to try this spot and had a great experience. Food was excellent, very creative and draws from French and new American cuisines and preparations. Each dish was very creative and delicious. Beer and wine only here, but they had some interesting orange ones on the menu. Service was decent, the place seemed a bit plain, and the plate ware could have been nicer but overall the courses were incredible. Would return for sure. EXCELLENT DESSERTS! Good value for the price.
Exceeded expectations! Every dish was really yummy, and the wine list is approachable and high quality. Definitely recommend the splurge!
Wonderful creative cooking and an outstanding staff! I’m a natural wine skeptic and we had some great chats finding wines that suit my preferences and our meal. Don’t miss the beans or the fluke!
Demo brings an intimate European experience to New York. The dry aged is the best I’ve ever had and the lobster is the sexiest bite. The staff are amongst the kindest and most welcoming people as well. Demo is my flex restaurant and always my first recommendation for anyone looking to dine somewhere new.
A cozy wine bar serving up unique, delicious food. Servings were generous. We loved the mackerel dish and the specials of the evening which were the leeks and skate. Service was helpful and professional. We didn’t partake in enjoying any wine this evening but I was impressed by the bottles I saw being served.
Loved every dish here. Highlights of the night went to marinated squid and arroz a la plancha - full of flavors and very well balanced.
Such a good spot for either a date or small group dinner! Getting plates to share was the best way to go 🙂 impressive wine list and really lovely and attentive staff! OH and don't forget to leave room for dessert. Definitely want to come back!
Birthday dinner! First visit! So good! The food was multi layered; thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Kudos to Leo and especially Grace for their kindness and warmth.
Beautiful & Intimate space with an ever-changing seasonal menu AND a natural wine selection that was the chef’s kiss and cherry on top 🍷 Would highly recommend this joint for romance & a great night out 🫶🏾
Lovely wine bar with a wide selection of classic and interesting wine options. Food pairings were great, especially the arroz a la plancha, the roast chicken and the beef tongue. Ambiance is very classy as well
Cute wine bar- the arroz with mushrooms & cheese was exceptional.
Demo delivers a thoughtful, well-executed menu in a warm, intimate setting — ideal for a group of four, especially with their cozy booth seating. Every dish we tried was a standout. The lengua tonnata was tender and delicately dressed; the scallop crudos bright and clean; and the marinated squid perfectly balanced in texture and acidity. The crab casino offered a rich, savory bite, while the arroz a la plancha — a seared, saffron-scented rice dish with a crisp socarrat — brought depth and comfort. The half chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, far beyond what you’d expect from a typical menu staple. Banana pudding is a must have. Save some room for it! Easily the best I’ve had — silky, layered, and not overly sweet.

Nice trendy intimate spot. Food was really good, a little on the saltier side. -Winter salad: citrusy fresh and delicious. – Casino crab: my favorite of the evening, light but rich, delicious cheese crust – Buttered beans: light bean soup, not overwhelming, good to warm you up and break up the meal - Half chicken: juicy thigh and wing, breast was on the drier side, well seasoned, could go a little easier on the salt Music is great service is superb, they know their wines, very pleasant and friendly. We’ll be back in the spring
Demo in the West Village is one of those rare restaurants that quietly lives rent-free in my mind long after my visits to NYC. I visited in Fall ’24 and again in Fall ‘25, and both times every dish was a hit — not a single miss on the table. The fries with saffron aioli were addictive, the special we had was the ricotta dumpling and it was impossibly light and rich at the same time. The half chicken was simply perfect. Even the vegetables felt elevated — bright, deeply flavored, and beautifully composed. What really made both visits special was the staff. They were warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and made our group feel genuinely cared for — not rushed, not performative, just thoughtful hospitality at its best. I brought guests with me both times, and the team guided them through wine pairings that were spot-on for each course and perfectly suited to everyone’s tastes Demo isn’t just delicious — it’s memorable, gracious, and quietly extraordinary.
Have been here twice in the laps of a year apart and both times consistently good and consistent in flavor, service is perfect. You don’t feel rushed, it’s genuine and they are always keeping an eye on you to make sure you are good. Food is unique but recognizable which is something not a lot of places have. 10/10
I had a really enjoyable dinner at Demo in the West Village. It’s a cozy wine bar with thoughtful, well-crafted food. Asian chefs? But American Mediterranean cuisine. The standout dishes for me were the mushroom plate and the crab dish. The wines were also delicious and paired nicely with the food throughout the evening, which made the whole experience flow. Service was friendly and easy going. The waiters were attentive without being intrusive, and they made good recommendations that fit the menu and our tastes. The atmosphere felt lively without being noisy, a place where you can linger over food and drink without feeling rushed. I think we were there for nearly three hours! I’d definitely go back next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Great new spot! They take walk ins and reservations but I highly recommend grabbing a spot at the bar - think of this spot bringing all the cool energy of brooklyn wine bars (think PDF or four horsemen) and bringing it to manhattan! Food was on point, wine excellent and service was warm and knowledgeable. Also truly some of the best focaccia I’ve ever had!
Very good food with unique twists to familiar dishes. Each dish seems to emphasize one flavor, so it's ideal to order many to share. The pasta let me down, the tomato sauce was sour and it didn't have the complexity of the other dishes I tried. The waiter was very attentive. The place is cozy and not too loud for NYC, but the tables are a little too close to each other.
Bit of a tight fit in regards to seating and spacing (close to other diners). Just food, no drinks. Food was decent, wasn't wowed but it also wasn't bad, nothing was under/over cooked. Service and hospitality was excellent though. Nice ambiance and vibes. Think this would be a great spot for a date night or drinks with a friend or two, intimate setting and portions aren't that big. Banana pudding was really good. Clean bathroom.
Demo surprised me. For such a tiny wine bar, the food really delivers. I went against my gut and ordered the mackerel, which missed the mark, but everything else was outstanding. The guanciale pasta was rich and comforting, and the banana pudding was so good I ended up looking up recipes for days afterward. The space is super intimate, almost too much so, since you feel like you’re sharing a table with strangers. Still, the wine is good, the food is better, and it’s a cool little option on the West Side. I wouldn’t cross town for it, but if you’re nearby, it’s worth checking out.
Great food and wine selection! I tried the lobster and a few appetizers such as the scallops but my favorite was the foraccia. I asked the bartender to surprise me with different red wines and they picked very well.
Booked for NYE and had a great meal and a positive experience overall. I definitely intend to come back in the future, especially if there are new additions to the menu. However, I was a little disappointed by the arroz. The mushrooms were all dry and a little tough. Some were charred to the point of bitterness. In the moment, I wondered if the dish was just not to my taste. However, looking at pictures that others have posted here, I think this may have been a mistake on the part of the kitchen. In the future, I hope they’re more attentive to this issue. This kind of inconsistency is disappointing for a $200 meal.

Running a restaurant is hard, I get it. But with the price customers pay, service needs to be better. Was shown to a tight table, which is fine. But the waiter was just deeply uninterested in explaining the menu and dishes. And there was then another waiter serving who atleast smiled at us. That was nice. Do better next time. Make the customer feel welcome.
The food is incredibly mid and overpriced for what it is. I'm not sure if I came on a bad night or what, but I can't comprehend the 5 star reviews others are leaving. The portion sizes are also quite small, so you can easily spend $200 for two and leave feeling like you could stop for a burrito at Son del North next door.
The atmosphere and server with super friendly! However the food itself was mid. My favorite dish was the fluke, which blended well with the butter and capers + spinach side. My least favorite dish was the beef tongue which was a little too overcooked and didnt pair particularly well with the mayo in my opinion.
My meal was pretty good. Got a few of the smaller dishes and a cocktail. What really bothered me was the stools at the bar. If you're going to be a fancy, hard-to-get-into restaurant you simply CANNOT seat people at a counter-height bar with bar-height stools. It feels like you're eating our of your lap.
The atmosphere was great. The food was so mid. The scallop crudo had such a stinky aftertaste and the waiter kept saying it was fresh and a lot of people ordered it. Okay and? Just admit that the scallop was not fresh is that hard? We also ordered the ribeye steak by MP. They couldn’t give us a fattier meat. All of the corner parts of my meat is fat, like pure fat. My other friend went here half year ago and had such a wonderful time. Don’t know what’s going on now but definitely need consistency on the food. Disappointed for sure. Cannot recommend the service either. (Unfortunately we had the same waiter, the one with dark beard, that another reviewer posted on here, too, single-handedly ruined the whole experience).

Had a very frustrating experience here last night. Despite having a reservation and arriving on time, we were left standing at the entrance for over 10 minutes without a single word of explanation. The female staff member who checked us in was incredibly cold—she walked past us multiple times while serving others, completely ignoring our presence as if we were invisible. We stood there awkwardly until a different, more professional staff member finally noticed and helped us get seated. This total lack of basic hospitality and communication completely ruined the mood for the night.
We were very disappointed with this restaurant. First, we ordered a $150 bottle of Cornas, which I always love. They opened it in the back, not in front of us, which I really didn't like. It didn't taste like any Cornas I've ever had, mostly red fruit like a Chianti. Bad start. Then, we asked how many plates were recommended. She told us five to six, two from each section. We ordered five, only one was a main (fish). It was grossly too much food and made me feel unwell. We had wanted to enjoy a dessert, but we were stuffed without even finishing the other food. I noticed other diners were getting only one starter and one main (the steak) which was enormous and more than enough food for two people. I feel like the server took advantage causing us to spend way more than necessary and have a sub par experience. Bill was approximately $400. More than anywhere else we ate and the most disappointing experience.

Cozy atmosphere, the chicken was tender and steak was amazing. However, my wife and I both got diarrhea after the meal. Scallop might not be fresh, taste bit fishy.
