Avis sur Eléa New York
Really lovely dinner here tonight. The design and ambiance of Elea is elegant and modern. Waitstaff was attentive and helpful, giving helpful suggestions. And overall food was well (and not overly) seasoned and well cooked. Highly recommend the short rib youvetsi and the octopus. All 3 of the dips we had (almond?, tzatziki, and red pepper) were great— almond one I loved! I would 100% come back next time I’m on the UWS.
Highly recommend Elea for an elevated Greek dinner. We had the 3 spreads (Skordalia, Hummus, red pepper), shrimp, cauliflower fritters, watermelon salad, and seabass. It was probably too much food for 2 people, but we enjoyed being able to try everything. The red pepper spread was incredible. My favorite dish was the seabass, followed closely by cauliflower fritters. The service was perfect, attentive but not overbearing. We will be back.
Great experience. Loved the vibe, service was amazing. We had dinner here prior to the ballet Staff very accommodating and attentive.
Had a great evening. Great food and friendly staff. Interesting cocktails. Glad we got an earlier reservation - the place got filled as the evening progressed.
We booked 2 group dinners for Columbia University in the private room in January, our first time at Elea. Andrew was fantastic in helping us book our reservation all through the evening of our dinners. From the moment we arrived, a nice ambience was set with the beautiful décor of the restaurant. We were beyond pleased at the private room and how it is truly distinct, we were not overpowered by the noise of the restaurant as can happen in some venues. The room itself is very warm and welcoming, and the size was perfect for our group of 30 to spread out. The upscale service was beyond stellar. Staff were extremely attentive and made sure all guests were welcomed with their drink of choice as soon as they arrived, and our group did not have to want or wait for anything. Thank you to the fantastic on-site staff, aside from Andrew and Angelo; Emma, Maria, Hilario, and the others whose names I could not remember. Now the food was beyond incredible! The presentation of the dishes was robust and eye-catching, and everything tasted delicious and fresh. We appreciated the large portions of the family style appetizers, when other venues often skimp on this. Our guests easily could have filled up on the appetizers alone! Every single person in our party was especially happy with their main course, and again we were impressed with the hearty portions. We of course had to find room for the incredible desserts! Our attendees absolutely loved the experience, we received so many rave reviews in the days after! We look forward to returning in the future!
Exploring the delights of restaurant week led me to indulge in their normal menu (they got me lol). The ambiance wrapped me in a cozy embrace, the attentive and delightful waiter added a touch of charm. Each bite of the delectable food was incredible. A truly enchanting experience – I'm already plotting my return. Update i returned and this visit was better than the last. This place is a diamond in a sea of gems. The service is top tier. Service 10 out of 5 stars. I tried the deserts this time and wow. It was only 100 plus bc we ordered three incredible bottles of wine and cocktails, otherwise it would have been a steal
The host was kind enough to seat us despite being late to our reservation, and you definitely need to make a reservation! The food and staff were wonderful, the sea bass we had was cooked and seasoned wonderfully. Will be returning as the ambience is very worth it alone. Thank you Elea!
Great experience and meal. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was prepared to a level of attentiveness that stood out from other Greek places in the city. My only nits are that wine pours are minimal and the kitchen seems to close about 40 min before their already super early closing times. Will def return!
I definitely recommend getting this menu if you ever visit this restaurant!! It's fried zucchini & eggplant, tzatziki, and kefalograviera cheese. The fried chips were so crisp and light, and paired deliciously with the spread. I l00000ved the spread. I feel like I can dip almost anything in that spread, and it would elevate the flavors. I really enjoyed this dish!! On top of the salmon pieces were avocado and jalapeño. Although the serving size was pretty small, each bite was so flavorful in taste and texture.
Over the years, Elea has become my favorite restaurant in the UWS. I love the intimate vibe, impeccable service, and consistently delicious food.
We hosted a surprise engagement party for an intimate group of 42 people. It was over the top and beyond exquisite to perfection. The menu, options, wine selection , outstanding service, ambience, and everything else in terms of minor details, and major details was on point. The owner and his staff were superb and their private room was perfect on probably one if their high volume nights. We will be hosting many private events at this establishment. It’s worth every penny !!
Everything about this restaurant is outstanding...from food and drinks to service to ambiance. We always love coming here and have introduced many friends to it.
The staff was awesome and very dedicated to making the experience enjoyable. We were in Greece last year and to taste a meal that was spot on authentic warmed or hearts.
We celebrated a birthday here and had such a lovely evening! The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent, attentive and truly made the evening special.
Went to have dinner with a friend. We started with 3 spreads: chickpea hummus, almonds and garlic, and the spicy red pepper with feta(my totally favorite). Then I ordered the wild cod which was wonderful (I’m usually picky with seafood) and the mini baklava rolls for dessert (which they put 2 candles and sang me happy birthday🥳) My experience went beyond of what I was expecting and the vibe of the place was great!! I will totally go back!!!
Elea is an absolute amazing Greek style cuisine and a wonderful dining establishment based in Manhattan, New York. In May of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at Elea to celebrate our Happy Relationship Anniversary, and we both give a huge two thumbs up to the restaurant’s staff for providing us with an extraordinary dining experience. We were politely welcomed by the restaurant’s staff and were quickly provided with a table upon entry. Our waiter, Rikos N treated us with the utmost care and grace. He made sure to properly document our meal orders, address our inquiries, and continuously checked with us to make sure that we were okay, that we enjoyed our meals, and that our needs were met. We thank Rikos for his superb professionalism and great hospitality!!! Both my wife and I loved our pita bread based appetizer, and we very much enjoyed our lamb chop entree meal!!! We’ve definitely placed Elea among our top favorite Greek restaurant!!! In addition to the great meal and service, both my wife and I were impressed with Elea’s cleanliness and the Greek island vibe that’s evoked by the restaurant’s atmosphere. All in all, both my wife and I would like to thank Elea for providing us a wonderful dining experience, and for playing a big part in the celebration of our Happy Relationship Anniversary!!!
The drinks at this place are absolutely top-notch — perfectly balanced, refreshing, and crafted with real care. Anna, the bartender, is a total gem. You can tell she loves what she does — every cocktail she made was spot-on, from classics to more creative mixes. Her recommendations were amazing, and she made the whole experience feel personal and fun. We’re already planning our next visit. Thank you, Anna — you’re the reason we’ll be coming back!
Everything is delicious! Went there for lunch and everything was good. The live music was a bit loud at first but then it kind of made a nice background, so we liked it. Service is nice and funny as they made some jokes around our clean plates. But those plates were clean because the food is delicious. My lmb chops were perfectly cooked and the fries were well seasoned. The deserts were amazing as well as they are very light and not overly sweet. Just perfect. Highly recommend this place and I look forward to go back.
Came here with a friend for dinner and I am so glad we did. This was a 5/5 dining experience for us! All of the food was tasty and fresh! We got several small plates to try and we left full and happy. The fish and caper dip was my absolute favorite. I would come back just for that!
Very much appreciated the last minute accommodation! I was glad to be able to bring a surprise friend there for a lovely dinner. Food was delicious, service efficient and atmosphere was lively.
Angelo is my favorite bartender! He's charming, elegant and always has a smile. He makes the best espresso martinis and best of all he is teaching me Greek! I look forward always to visiting Elea thanks to the ever great staff and friendly and beautiful environment. If you get to visit this upper West side gem. Orderthr Expresso Martini from Angelo,! He's a wizard!
This is the little pearl of Himara’s restoration. It is a pretty small restaurant located on the hills of Himare where you can enjoy an amazing view , delicious food and a super calm atmosphere. The food was delicious, we took (on waiter suggestion) the ficus salad (simply amazing), kataifi cheesestikcs, Octopus and traditional orzotto lamb + 2 glasses of wine and 1 bottle of water, for the total of 4K lek Highly recommended, I suggest to book in advantage because there are not too many tables.
It was a lovely experience, staff was outstanding. I really appreciate how they accommodated us in such short period of time, besides from that the food was a real treat from Greece. The sardines were just perfect, tasty with that saltiness after tasted and it was a dish well balanced, the Spanakopita was good, just needed more of a crunchy texture for me. Drinks were yummy and the service, Petros was lovely to us. I would come back again just to enjoy your sardines again.
Everything about this spot is an A plus. Service was impeccable, great vibe. Food is beyond amazing. Came for both brunch and dinner. Elea doesn’t miss! Recommendations: French toast (brunch), lamb chops, Greek salad.
An outstanding restaurant with sumptuous healthy food, fine service and a responsive management who will help you find the perfect table to suit your preferences. Best to reserve in advance.
I was the very first reservation when E’lea opened and this restaurant’s menu and follow up service is impeccable. E’lea deserves a Michelin Star for its consistency of upper level selections and attentive service to its customers. I am alway interested in their specials and their creative cocktails.
We were in search of dinner after a day at the museum and we found Eléa via infatuation. Mediterranean is always a go to as it never disappoints and the reviews on Elea looked great. Well they did not disappoint, it was the perfect place to walk in with a group of 7 including children which was amazing and hard to come by. The venue is very spacious and has two floors. The space is beautiful and very inviting, as if you’re being transported to Greece with the all white decor and beautiful flowers at the entrance. I was most excited to try the elea chips and the tuna tartar and they were both amazing!!! The fried zucchini and taziki had the perfect taste ask texture. The crunch that came with the tuna tartar was unlike anything I’ve ever had and was the perfect combination. The entree we opted for was the sea bass which was good but I will say the slight mustard flavor threw us off a bit but nonetheless still delicious. The kids got chicken Slovakia and French fries and they loved it. The only small complaint I had was that the drinks were not consistent, we ordered a few lychee martinis and each time the taste was a bit different.
Elea is far and away the best restaurant on Manhattan's Upper West Side, and competes with any other restaurant in the Big Apple. From 'soup to nuts' Elea soars. You can request a favored table, that will be honored, and the service is prompt and considerate, while the whole menu is tantalizingly good. Whether you are a vegetarian or a meat-lover, there is something to satisfy everyone.
Hilario, the manager made a great effort to help us select the correct wine. He is very knowledgeable and offered great advice. As for the food, it's amazing, great taste and qualify ingredientes. If you visit, ask for Hilarios help in selecting wine and food. It makes a big difference on your overall experience.
WE had a great table for a group of 6. Dinner was so fresh & delicious ,service was perfection. The manager came to the table at the end of our meal to check if we needed anything else. That was a nice touch @
I went with a friend who is local to the area and highly recommended this restaurant. Everything was really tasty and fresh, beautiful presentation, and a great atmosphere. We shared a salad and several small plates and left totally full.
A busy, buzzy Greek restaurant in the heart of UWS. This is a perfect date spot with a huge menu, great for mezze shares or large entrees if you are hungry. They have some of the best grilled octopus I’ve had and I highly recommend the dip trio and seafood orzo! Will be back to try their fish at some point, but everything was quite filling even without a full entree.
Delicious food. Great service. Able to speak and hear people without yelling. Leisurely meal with attentive service. Excellent restaurant. Will go back soon!
A wonderful experience from the moment you arrive to your table. The waitstaff, busboys and food runners are all very well trained and professional. The food and drinks are delectable and you cannot go wrong with anything. The lamb chops were slightly dry, but everything else was great. Restaurant week has gained them another customer.
Great little Greek restaurant with a home feel. The staff and the customers are super friendly. The food is delicious and has a home authentic Greek feel. Loved everything here from the calemari to the octapus to all kinds of fish. The prices are good as well for the quality of food and service. A must visit if you are into greek food.
Have been coming here for a few years now, but first time here for brunch. Steak and eggs were perfection, and the warm, friendly, attentive service always top notch. Will be back
Elea is a neighborhood gem and I am lucky to have a home in the neighborhood! We frequent Elea especially for special occasions. Don't hesitate to make a reservation. You will not be disappointed..... I've eaten through the menu and haven't been disappointed with any dish!!!
Went for a birthday dinner and it was amazing. They spoiled the whole party and brought out a huge sparkler for my boyfriend. The staff was attentive, accommodating and nice. On top of that the food was amazing. We all shared or plates and I really loved everything I ate. The lavraki and white fish appetizer were my favorites ❤️ Plus dessert 🤤 delicious
For some reason my original reservation was cancelled the night before; fortunately I was able to rebook. Party of 3 including a Parisian friend. We shared spreads to start, wonderful. For our mains, my tuna tartare small plate was perfect, and my friends like their dorade and chicken dishes. Waiter recommended a really nice greek red. Good service by the entire staff. The downstairs dining room was lively, a bit loud but fine.
We came with a group of 14. Ahead of the reservation, they were incredible helpful and easy. They had a wonderful table set up for us. The service was great and our waiter was so helpful. And the food was delicious! It is a great spot for dinner, especially with our big group.
We had such a nice time here. The food was amazing, we went with a group and got a bunch of different things and shared it all. Highlights were the risotto, meatballs, and chicken skewers. Great wine list. Fantastic service and vibes were excellent. We had a 20 month old with us and they were all so great with her!
This is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. It’s an authentic Greek menu with excellent choices and traditional dishes like moussaka and wonderful spreads. Service is also excellent. I am never disappointed. They have a nice outdoor section in warm weather. I highly recommend it.
One of the finest restaurants on the Upper West Side. Make that all of Manhattan. We have been coming here since they opened and always count int to provide a wonderful dining experience. Elea chips and Lamb Chops...you can't go wrong.
Elea is my non-negotiable, must visit, whenever I am in NYC. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is always impeccable, and they have one of the best menus available. Slowly working our way through all the items, and we have never been disappointed. My only complaint is that it is hard to get last minute reservation because everyone else knows about this fantastic restaurant!
Shared a number of veg and seafood dishes tapas style with my wife and a former caterer. We liked or loved everything. We could taste the good ingredients and the amount of work done by the cooks to build great flavors. Important to note: The dining room at street level has high ceilings and is more conducive to having conversations.
Elea is a great restaurant in every way. The food was wonderful and the service was helpful and not rushed. It was a busy night, but it never felt crowded or too loud. Truly a lovely dinner; highly recommend!
We came to this restaurant for a birthday celebration and upon entering it immediately brought back pleasant memories from our vacation in Greece this past summer. The staff greeted us warmly and with excitement. We had multiple appetizers and entrées, being that we were a party of five, which you can see from the pictures below. Our waitress was amazing, the food was exquisite, and I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!
Honestly surprised with how good the food was here. All 3 spreads we ordered were delicious, the chicken kebob was extremely juicy and tender, and the spanakopita was amazing as well. The sea-bass was more like a 7/10, nothing to blow you away but still good. We didn’t try any of the meats which looked delicious. This is a great place if you have a big party or need a last minute fri/sat night res
It has wonderful, modern Greek fare. Drinks were excellent - lychee and fig martini were standouts. Lamb chops were the best I have had in a while. They were out of their signature dish - moussaka and meatballs. That was a bummer, as our reservation was at 8:30pm. Place was really crowded - with literally no room to stand while we waited for our table to be ready. Our waitress was really soft spoken, hard to hear and not really helpful.
This is what I call a great dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful -though despite having a reservation, we were first offered a table in the basement, which we politely declined. The staff kindly seated us at the bar while we waited, and within a few minutes we were moved to the main dining room. The service was excellent- fast, attentive, and professional-and the food was genuinely delicious and authentic. The only small downside is that when you start at the bar, you need to close your tab before moving to the table, which means two separate bills and tips. Not a big deal, but something to know. Overall, a wonderful evening- great food, great atmosphere, and a team that clearly cares. Highly recommend.
Thank you guys! You made our wedding the happiest day of our lives. Everything was flawless. Andrew was integral in creating this special day, and the staff were so efficient at helping everyone with all of their needs. The food was perfect, the celebration was perfect, everything went perfect.
Absolute fab experience. Reservations recommended on weekends, plenty of seating outdoors and indoors with a spacious basement perfect for family seating. Vegetarians also have plenty of options which was surprising! What to order: Tasting of 5 Spreads ($32) - Skordalia stands out, Grilled Halloumi ($18), Gigantes ($16), Asparagus ($12) - all cooked to perfection! Non Vegetarians won't go wrong with Lamb Chops ($55) or Grilled Shrimp ($25). Service was absolutely fantastic but our server Arthur was friendly and attentive. Very welcoming and friendly staff. We will be visiting again with friends and family!
Situated in the heart of the Upper West Side, this authentic Greek restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, complemented by a beautifully designed bar that immediately draws you in. The dining experience begins with a sense of genuine hospitality, and the culinary journey that follows is nothing short of exceptional. The highlight of the meal is undoubtedly the lamb chops, which are perfectly cooked to an ideal tenderness. Each bite is succulent and flavorful, showcasing the chef’s mastery in balancing classic Greek flavors with precise execution. For dessert, the orange cake is a delightful revelation. Moist and creamy, it pairs beautifully with the yogurt ice cream, creating a harmonious blend of citrus and subtle tang. The dessert is not only unique but also a perfect conclusion to a memorable dining experience. This establishment brings a true taste of Greece to New York, excelling in both ambiance and cuisine.
Overall: Amazing spot with delicious food and exceptional service. I came here for a date night and sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and recommended the best drinks. My watermelon spritz was made perfectly and tasted so refreshing. He recommended the hummus trio which was a fantastic start. We even got some extra bread to go with it because we couldn't stop eating it. The grilled octopus was also an amazing appetizer that I think everyone should try. It was grilled perfectly in season to perfection. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of it because it It looks so delicious that we forgot. The lamb chops were the star of the show. We got the spinach instead of the fries as recommended by the bartender. Once again his recommendation proved to be amazing. The staff is very attentive and professional. Service was exceptional. The place looked very clean. They had a downstairs area that had a lot more space. I can't wait to return to try other things.
I picked Elea for a restaurant week adventure stop and was pleasantly surprised by the place. I had the Pikilia, Vegetarian Mousaka, and Baklava for dessert. 1st and 2nd course were really good. I didn't like the baklava. It seemed to be a bit "deconstructed" and too much cinnamon. After dinner, we thought about how much we spent and reviewed the regular menu vs the restaurant week menu. We could have spent HALF ordering from the regular menu had we known better. Overall, the food is very good and the restaurant is beautifully decorated.
We had some typical Greek food like spanakopita, keftedes, tzatziki and fakes soup, which all tasted very much like the traditional version 👌 It is a nice and chic stop in Upper West.
Great brunch place! We had the avocado toast which was very nice and the French toast which was nice, but felt like it wasn't marinated enough in the batter. As we were waiting we saw a lot of great dishes that looked fantastic, especially the burger, so we will definitely come back to check it out.
Our server was great. Favorites were the beet salad and tzatziki! The mullet roe dip, tuna tartar, and royal dorade were ok. Not sure if we’d go again but it was fun vibes inside. Food just didn’t knock it out of the park. I think the host stand was very overwhelmed so it was absolute chaos at the entrance. Hopefully they get things in order for the weekend crowds!
Really good Greek food in a very chic setting! The appetizer are delicious, including the dips, the feta, and the zucchini fritters. The chicken and the mushroom pasta were good, but I preferred their appetizers. The apple pie desert was interesting, not my personal favorite but delicious nonetheless. Their servers are friendly and energetic, and the decor is great!
Overall, we had a good dinner but it didn't live up to our expectations. Great outdoor space with nice decorations, warm heat lamps, and vey good air flow to reduce COVID risk. Drinks were great. Really liked the Smoke and Fire Food was good but not as good as we expected. . The butternut squash risotto tasted good but was too heavy. For the short ribs, the meat was a bit dry.
Eléa continues to be one of our top 5 favorite restaurants on the UWS. Creative and delicious food, beautiful ambience, outstanding service. Can’t wait for our next Elea meal!
Easy to book reservations online, nice decor and friendly staff. This was our second time here and the food was delicious both times. Food was well seasoned and cooked well. We ordered the lamb shank, octopus and shrimp. The lamb shank was good but the seafood was phenomenal. Will definitely be coming back for the octopus. My one piece of feedback is not looking on our reservation notes about dietary restrictions. The form specifically asks for this and I'm gluten free but they put bread on the table. We asked for them to take it back but would have been nice to be asked first to confirm.
Went for their winter restaurant week (muni only available on Friday for lunch). It is definitely great value , portion to price wise. The phyllo was ok but my main sea bass was well cooked, skin is crispy , capers accompanied well with the taste, sauce is tangy and lovely on top. Vibe is chilled, decoration is elegant, low noise.
Fabulous restaurant. Beautiful and airy, many options for delicious food and drink, and kind staff. In addition to the photographed food I highly recommend the elea chips appetizer and the dips, particularly the Tzatziki which is some of the best I’ve ever had. The hummus is pasable for the other better dips. My major complaint is that the chairs inside and upstairs were extremely uncomfortable - I was shifting the entire meal.
I love Greek food, so I was excited to try this restaurant—and it did not disappoint! The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the Kounoupidi—crispy cauliflower fritters. From the outside, the restaurant looked quite small, but once inside, we discovered a whole additional floor downstairs with plenty of seating. Despite being very busy, the atmosphere was lively and inviting, and the service was attentive. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’ll definitely be back!
Softly lit and pretty, you will look amazing in your selfies. The scene is thick, and your elbows will be touching your neighbors’ in the crowded dining rooms. The management will visit the table but the ask of “how is the food” is short, and insincere. He doesn’t stick around to hear feedback. The food is abundant and small plates win but the Lamb Shank was dry and sad. They drown it in a bland tomato sauce that is acidic and heavy. DON’T DO IT. Their Lamb Chops are a win. Fish is great. The table olive oil is low grade(crazy at a place like this). Ethics note to management: In a town where premium restaurants complimentary offer filtered sparkling & flat water(ie: Natura) made from NYC’s amazing water source, there’s nothing worse than starting out a seating with a food runner asking if you want flat or sparkling water, and bringing very marked up water full of sodium to the table and charging for it. That’s just an insulting- poor business practice; bait and switch really.
Despite having a reservation, we had to wait about 15-20 minutes before getting seated. It appears that the restaurant does not have a balanced handle on online reservations and walk-ins. After being seated, the service was very delayed. About 20 minutes in, we managed to get our order in and get tap water on the table. The octopus is good, but the fava and accompanying garnishes are the stars. The burger was sadly dry and unseasoned. Once the restaurant can handle the reservations to not over-stress the staff, I think it's a decent Greek brunch. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There is also nice live music on weekends.
It was a bad, bad night. The service was beyond slow. The food was bland and not worth saying anything good about. We started with appetizers… well the never brought one of the orders. Then came dinner… 45 minutes after it was ordered and not worth the wait. The Moussaka tasted store bought and was victim of a bad microwave job. Seafood Orzotto had zero taste. I love Greek food… this is just not it. There’s much better on the UWS.
