Avis sur Battambang Oakland
Delicious food and great service! Highly recommend. Loved the flavors and textures- we got curry , noodles, papaya salad. cannot wait to be back.
For well over 10 years, Battambang Restaurant has been my go-to spot, and they truly feel like family. From the moment you step through the door, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and genuine hospitality that is simply unmatched. I've introduced this delicious gem to my mom, aunties, and cousins, and they all adore it just as much as I do. The customer service is impeccable, making every visit feel special and memorable. Now, let's dive into the food! My absolute favorites are the Crab Fried Rice (make sure to add extra crab!) and the Battambang Noodles with Shrimp. Each dish is a symphony of flavors that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. And whatever you do, save room for dessert the Fried Banana with Coconut Ice Cream is to die for! It's the perfect sweet finale to an already perfect meal. Battambang Restaurant is more than just a dining spot; it's a place where memories are made and cherished. If you haven't experienced it yet, do yourself a favor and go. You won't regret it!
I’ve always been curious about this Oakland institution! Loved how unique their food is, as other reviewers mentioned. The catfish (national specialty) was so comforting and unlike anything I’ve ever had. Grateful this exists and hope they stay in business for a long time. Also: service was SO warm and caring!! Mom n pop shops like this are what make our community special :)
Today was my second time here, and I wish I came back sooner. For my appetizer I ordered the pork egg rolls, for the entrée I ordered the Battambang noodles, and for dessert I ordered the jackfruit hot custard. It was all so good. The lady who took my order was so sweet and friendly. I’m definitely coming back sooner than later. It wasn’t busy when I was there, but this place for sure deserves a lot of business. It’s definitely an underrated Oakland eatery.
This place is seriously good. We got their omelette stuffed with beans and shrimp, the green bean special, and I personally had their banana leaf-cooked catfish. The first two were very solid. My main dish was absolutely incredible. The flavor in the fish was so strong, and went so well with the Angkor beer. The price for everything was a bit high, but the flavor definitely backed that up. This is definitely one of my new favorites!
Delicious food and the owner is very friendly. She even let my friend try a special, extra spicy sauce she had made for her own lunch!
Amok Trei was tender within a steaming well of banana leaves and crusted so deliciously with a thin layer of Cambodian blended chili flakes that the first bite was the most perfect mind melt, mouth-watering moment.
Yes. The location isn’t the best. Yes, your server kindly reminds you not to leave your valuables in your car. Yes, the decor is a bit dated and the lighting is much to be desired. But all that being said, the food is phenomenal and the service is outstanding. Try the Battambang noodles and the Mango sticky rice. You won’t be disappointed.
Absolutely amazing! This was my first time having Cambodian but definitely won't be my last. I had the smoked eggplant at the recommendation of the host (and I think owner) and it was so delicious. I love that there's no dairy in the food too, and not spicy. Service was fast and friendly, portions were a good size, and prices great for the area. Wasn't too busy or loud either. Highly recommend this place!
This is a small restaurant in china town Oakland. Service was very friendly and food did not take long to be served. We ordered combo 1 and sautéed chicken. They accommodated my allergies to gluten and were friendly when we brought our little one in a stroller taking one table and did not care. Food was tasty. We came after 5:30 pm and it was easy to find parking. Otherwise there are parking places in the area.
The food was incredible, the staff was extremely polite and professional. This was my first experience with Cambodian food but certainly will not be my last. I will be back soon, thank you for the great dining experience, cheers!
This Cambodian gem offers a truly authentic taste of the country and the wait staff is warm and friendly. The 'amok trei' is a must-try and it's also Cambodia's national dish. Don't miss out on their delicious stuffed chicken wings either, yum! Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and friendly Cambodian dining experience in Oakland!
My favorite Cambodian restaurant, food is so good and the price very good, you dont wait that much to get you food served and the people there are very friendly, I have been there at least 3 times and always experience a new dish, whoever is interested in Cambodian food this is the place
Battambastic!!! This place was incredible. I wasn't sure what Cambodian food was like, but now I'm spoiled. Upon many other E-recommendations I had the Grilled Lamb Chops with the side of sautéed veggies. The lamb was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The Battambang Noodles are similar to Pad Thai, which had a bit more flavor if you askes me. Very similar though with orangey noodles, peanuts, sprouts, and we went with chicken. The little Lawt fried pork egg rolls went quick. So, you may need 2 orders. We also shared some shrimp fried rice which was quickly devoured by my family of pirranahs. Sodas come in their natural can, so you can count on what you're getting and for only $1.50. All the way around Battambang was an absolute hit, and super welcoming staff too.
Battambang never disappoints. Staff is incredibly helpful, food consistently amazing!
First time here at Battambang — unbelievably excellent! The service and hospitality were amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious 😋. It truly felt like enjoying a home-cooked meal with family. THANK YOU NAVI FOR YOUR AMAZING HOSPITALITY! 🙏♥️ My husband and I will definitely be back every time we’re in the area. You will not be disappointed. A MUST-TRY if you’ve never been before!
The crab fried rice, salmon and egg rolls was just amazing! The service was excellent!! So much flavor...must try if you are in Oakland baby
The owner was very sweet. She was friendly yet informative of the cuisine and gave credit to the chef for their skillful knife skills to debone and stuff the chicken wings. The National dish Amol Trei was so yummy! I looked up how to make it and it’s definitely full of delicious ingredients and a labor of love that I don’t think I can/want to replicate. I try new dishes often and this dish really surprised me! I will definitely be back to try out other dishes. We forgot to take a picture of the food but our clean plates is enough evidence of a delicious meal.
The eggplant lunch special we got was soooooooo good! The eggplant was smoked in open flame so it has a very special smoky flavor and the pork and shrimp add a tasteful combination to the eggplant. The lady who served us was extremely helpful , kind, and gave us recommendations. Really love and vibe her energy and will come back to try more.
Great gem! Really enjoyed this restaurant a lot and it was my first time there. We came for dinner and ordered a few dishes but they all tasted delicious and well seasoned. Papaya salad was yummy but I recommend adding a healthy amount of pepper flakes and it will taste so much better. The beef skewers were amazing and goes well with rice. The Cambodian noodles was good too and we would definitely come back to try other dishes.
Based on a friend’s recommendation, I treated myself to a meal at Battambang on a weekday afternoon. I was welcomed by the wonderful owner, who clearly puts so much love and care into her restaurant and her food! I highly recommend the soup—I had the tamarind soup with catfish and prawns, and my friend swears by the lemongrass soup with catfish. You can’t beat this fresh, delicious, home style Cambodian cooking and welcoming atmosphere!
Foods were phenomenal and taste authentic. True Cambodian food, especially the soup (highly recommended). It’s a bit creamy, bright, hearty, and sweet and sour from the pineapple. Harmony of flavors packed in one soup. It’s called Samlaw Ktiss. The soup can be shared between 3-4 ppl
Hole in the wall place that's easy to miss but has some unique dishes and large portions. The specialty section on the menu has a lot of interesting things. Staff is super nice and service is surprisingly fast. We got papaya salad, chicken curry, and smoked eggplant. I've never seen the smoked eggplant dish in a restaurant before and I highly recommend it. The seasonings on everything is balanced.
A very good place with a little bit of spicy flavor, curry is a must.
their food is so delicious and unique! its also a oakland mainstay i remember since i Was little. today i added fried soft shell crab w a cream tang sauce. battambang noodles, beef skewers, smokey shrimp eggplant, crab fried rice, beef skewers. ill always love to come here or order! please support this amazing humble family!
We’re from Chicago, coming to visit SF. It’s rare to find authentic Cambodian restaurant or Cambodian restaurant in the US. This restaurant serve Cambodian cuisines that taste just as delicious as homemade Cambodian food.
We had such a delicious meal! We really loved the chicken and shrimp rice crepe, the crab fried rice, and the catfish. The only dish that was so-so was the vegetable roasted rice stew (less flavorful). Everything else was amazing and the staff were so friendly--I'd definitely come back here.
A homey, unassuming eatery with beyond stellar food! They feature Cambodian dishes that I usually don’t see elsewhere. All the food was prepared wonderfully, and all the flavours were so aromatic, balanced and distinct in each dish! Some of the most tasty and memorable food I’ve had in a while. Highly highly recommend this place.
A cozy, ethnic restaurant with delicious Cambodian food and superb dessert. While you might just casually pass up this inconspicuous restaurant while walking along Broadway, you'd be playing yourself. The inside is cozy and inviting with all the Southeast Asian decor and friendly service. The menu offers a variety of lunch and dinner specials, from salads to grilled items to curries. We got a rice crepe with chopped chicken to start and had a seafood medley curry and beef shish kabob with brown rice. Everything was savory, cooked perfectly, and delicious. The rice crepe, stuffed with bean sprouts and topped with a garlic vinegar sauce was surprisingly fresh and was a great way to start off the meal. The shish kabob was juicy and flavorful, and the curry was out of this world. The fish was buttery and tender, and curry matched perfectly with a side of rice. The dessert here is so good, they have permanent dessert menus fixed under the glass of each table. We got the fried banana with house coconut ice cream, as well as the fresh manila mango with sticky rice. Both were satisfying without being overly sweet and a perfect way to end the meal. I would highly recommend trying this place out!

This place is amazing! Heard about this place from a very choosy friend and we were finally able to make it to Oakland to try it out. She sent us with a list of items to try, but since we had limited hotel fridge room, we had to make the tough decision to only choose one item each. We both ordered the Battambang noodles, mine vegan and his regular. We were both so happy with our meals! They make it so easy to order vegan items. We cant wait to go back and try more!
This place was a pleasant surprise! I wanted to have some Cambodian food and was recommended this place by a few people. I definitely wasn't disappointed. The food was all fresh and flavourful, and their smoked eggplant dish is hands down my favourite. The service is friendly and fast. The restaurant is a pretty cozy spot and is fairly small on the inside. Overall, I'd highly recommend checking this place out!

The waiters were very friendly and helpful, but the dishes were a bit expensive for how small they were, in my opinion. They were delicious, and I really liked the amok knor which was not overwhelmingly sweet and had a unique, creamy texture. The atmosphere of the restaurant was clean and cozy.
Cozy Cambodian spot located in Oakland Chinatown. Warm and friendly staff with fragrant and unique menu items. I don’t often come by many Cambodian restaurants, so I was excited to flip through the menu and try some new items. We ordered the Tamarind Eggplant, Pan Fried Catfish, and the Battambong Noodles. All dishes had ingredients I was familiar with, but slight flavor differences to what I usually eat. The Battambong Noodles are reminiscent of a pad thai without the bean sprouts; peanutty with a savory and slightly acidic sauce. Very good texture on the noodles. The eggplant was soft in texture and mixed nicely with the rice, and the tamarind sauce gave it a nice acidic punch. I really enjoyed the catfish and thought it was cooked well. The hot tea came with free refills, and I loved that the waiter came around often and asked to refill my tea, and not the other way around. Great spot, hope to be back!
The food was fresh and the flavors were very good. The service was fast and everything was served hot.
Tasty Cambodian food from a long-time Oakland favorite. We ordered the smoked eggplant, Battambang noodles with tofu, and their Lemongrass pork. The noodles and eggplant were delicious. The pork was a bit dry, but had good flavor. The service was extremely friendly. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Uber and Battambang/Rip-Off😭 Delivery was smooth and on time. The restaurant 👎🏾! Visiting friends , just got in from 4 hours on Amtrak , only had yogurt all day. Ordered appetizer sampler ,red curry with duck and house fried rice with two proteins -shrimp and pork! For the life of me can’t figure out why you don’t automatically get steamed rice to go with the Curry! 😳If I had not ordered the fried rice I would’ve had nothing to go with the Curry! Any who why do I get only 2 shrimp after paying extra for shrimp?!Called Uber and they thanked me so much for letting them know(like it’s an experiment!) & how much it will help them. They’ve had other complaints about this place🙀Why are they still on your restaurant list Uber Ripoff?!!I want my money back for the shrimp!!!Corporate greed at a new low with sub- standard restaurants!Pics of appetizers, “ fake” rice and duck red curry! Edit - Uber did refund the fried rice with 2 shrimp!!
