Avis sur Nick's Pizza Oakland
Best pizza in the bay. Actually sour crust with a satisfying crunch. Their sauce and toppings are perfectly proportioned. Their vegetarian pizzas are equally as good if not better than their meat options. The staff are cool too!
They have great thin crust sourdough pizza. It takes a lot of time and effort to master a great pizza dough not to mention a sourdough one. The staff were nice, very friendly, and welcoming. The soft chewy sourdough pizza crust will be memorable to us and we'll definitely return. The toppings and sauce were very good too.
I coworker turned me in to this place. Staff are very friendly and engaging. They keep the space clean and welcoming. The pizza is AMAZING! Seriously the best thin crust pizza I’ve ever had. While this location is out of my way for the most part, I’ll make it a point to stop by when I’m around. Thank you!
Absolutely loved their sourdough crust. Thin, perfectly crispy and a large pizza for the price. Some varieties are also available by slice (I believe the specials from the vegetarian menu is). We tried a slice of Black Mission Fig (10/10) and loved it. It comes with arugula and I don't even like arugula but managed to finish most of it (the arugula, pizza was gone in minutes). We also tried the regulars - White Pie (9/10) and Spinach and Mushroom (7/10). The white pie for me personally, could have used some optional chilli oil topping. I didn't go for the flakes because they do tend to be different than oil. It was delicious nonetheless. The spinach and mushroom pizza with roasted garlic had all my top 3 favorite pizza toppings. But something about the spice/sauce didn't go well with the pizza. The sauce was overwhelming, mushrooms didn't go well the sauce. To be fair, most places use white sauce for this combo of toppings, so my expectations might be closer to that. The Hibiscus Lime drink was yum. Surprisingly the next day it became a bit more subdued in taste and was better. Friendly service, small but hip and fun outdoor dining space. There is a dedicated area for dining with pets but can't accommodate more than two groups from the size of the space.
Was over at an event at the community center and stopped for pizza. What a great little place! Not only was the pizza selection amazing but the atmosphere was even more eccelectic and inviting! Love the vibe, decor, and the staff! Will definitely stop again next time in the area. ✌️🍉
Searched this place out this morning. Well worth the adventure. Service was quick and friendly. Sandwich and slice both delicious. I also understand they are employee owned, which is a big positive in my book.
Excellent bagels! The onion bagel was very good: great bite and chew. It's remarkable for a pizza place. Also, there's no long line. The Philly brand cream cheese is in a small container. The potato pizza, finished baking when ordered, had a perfect thin crust, great topping-to-cheese ratio, and was finished with house-made pesto. The staff are very nice and friendly.
I have been dying to try this pizza with the sourdough crust and it did not disappoint. It was so delicious. I don’t want regular crust pizza again. I ordered the Guajillo Mushroom (Sept. special) every topping mattered and made sense, it even had pickled onions and a cilantro salsa as a finish. We had asked to add pepperoni to half of it but the cashier said they wouldn’t because the weight would be off. Husband was disappointed but once we got the pizza we understood why and appreciate that everything is thought of. He loved it even without the pepperoni. The crust was crispy on the outside, airy and light on the inside, seasoned well, just perfect! I’m hungry thinking about it and wish I wasn’t working so I could go and eat there right now. The patio is very spacious and dogs are allowed outside. They also had baguettes and pastries which look great, looking forward to trying them all.
Beautiful day deserves a beautiful lunch so my friend and I trekked to nick’s. We shared a sandwich: turkey and mortadella and Swiss cheese on a delish Dutch crunch. Good sized, $12.50. We shared a slice of pizza - fantastic crust . Would love it to be a wee bit bigger but it was priced at $3.85 so reflects. There were some YUMMY LOOKING sweets, but I already had to restrain myself. Service was friendly, food came quickly. We sat outside under a table with an umbrella and life was good!
Great little gem at the corner of Alcatraz and Shattuck. They use high quality ingredients and use a sourdough crust. It comes together to make kind of a New York California hybrid. It's accessible to people that want the classics but also has a variety of fancier combinations to please the more sophisticated palate. Honestly it's one of the best places to get a pizza in the area, and they offer by the slice as well.
Was doing a delivery for them and I was a lucky one. Got two pep slices. Shoutout to Dwight. Pizza is 🔥. Thanks again!

Just ate pizza there for the first time while doing laundry across the street. Great price for a slick slice! That's really hard to find. Very friendly cashier. Slice is hot to go in like a minute. Cool jazz music in the background. Front facing staff wearing masks. Cool outdoor seating with hip family vibes. They even let you take your own parm and pepper packets?Solid.
Incredible pizza. If you like thin crust, it’s either these guys or Amici’s….but for me, Nicks edges them out for sure.
Sourdough pizza crust and creative toppings. Fantastic place. Also amazing bread and great sandwiches.

Delicious pizza and incredible staff. We go almost every week with our young kids. The space is beautiful, the food is amazing, and the people are kind and welcoming. Thank you, Nick’s, for always being so patient and understanding with our young kids and making this such a highlight of our week. Shoutout to the folks working on August 28th — appreciate you.

We ordered takeout from Nick’s Pizza and were impressed! The pizza arrived hot, fresh, and not greasy at all. The crust held up perfectly—even after a 20-minute ride. Their white pizza with ricotta and spinach is chef’s kiss. Fast, reliable, and consistently good.
It’s almost unfair to call Nick’s Pizza a slice shop. Technically the seven year old, Bushrod business is a pizza place. Says so right in the name. But Chef Nick is flexing his baking muscles to turn out some pretty decent baked goods too. Chef Nick really knows his way around a slice. The crust is “Oakland Sourdough” -- nice and thin, but not too crispy. You gotta be able to fold It in half, right? The chew on the crust is really nice. The slight tang from the organic sourdough crust goes so well with Nick’s seasonal toppings -- Roasted Delicata Squash, Radicchio, Ricotta, Mozzarella, Walnuts, Lemon-Agave Vinaigrette -- and that’s just on one pie. You can still go Old School with a Pepperoni or Classic Olive and Herb, but why not be adventurous? Nick’s small batch bread is really worth snagging a couple to go. You can never go wrong with a good focaccia. Next time you’re in the neighborhood, make it a point to stop by. You may decide to leave with your own ginormous chocolate chip cookie

The pizza was fantastic. Thin crust, perfectly baked. I haven’t had a pizza so perfect since I was on the east coast. Had a sandwich too, turkey apple and bri. The bread was delicious but the sandwich itself wasn’t 5 star.

Outdoor seating and self cleaning so there isn't much service. We ordered two pizzas and a salad. They ran out of the hot coppa. Quite pricey for pizza, but the economy isn't doing well so it makes sense. Overall, pizza represents affordable, comfort food; but this place is neither affordable nor comforting.

I really enjoyed the sandwiches here, although we felt the amount of meat included was a bit light for the price. The patio is lovely and a big draw for us. They had live music recently, which was delightful. Their combo pizza was a bit salty, but perhaps it was just that varietal. I am planning on trying others in the future.
Saw this place on TV, raved about it. Used to be BBQ joint. Once I found parking (no lot only street) I looked over menu in window and was surprised how limited it is. The few sandwiches they make are only served from 11-4. So, we missed out on chance to try. So pizza has only about 6 specialtys most have pepperoni. After seeing price of build your own at $27.50 plus $4.50-$6 for a choice of 4-5 groups of ingredients to add. Not really a build your own in my opinion. So $38.57 with tax I got a combo pizza. Thin crust a bit tough with a nice chewy outer crust. I just don't feel like I got my moneys worth. Wife said, never again. Probably won't get to try their sandwiches. I gotta lot great places for that already anyway.

This place may be good for buying a full Pizza fresh, but I ordered three slices of different pizzas and they all were very mediocre at best and one of them was complete garbage and seemed to be baked hours before. Even the cookies were baked wrong with the snickerdoodles way to thick and dry and the chocolate chip burnt and hard. I was really disappointed with my experience and will not be back.

It was my grandpa's birthday and he loves pizza plus it's a rare treat. Decided to try Nick's and paid $40 for a combo pizza but it was so disappointing. It had burnt crust all around (top and bottom) and the flavor was average. Fam agreed that it was not worth the price ratio. By the way I did not tip for the take out pizza and don't know if that had a factor in how it turned out.
