Okay so this place has two sides of the restaurant and you need to try both. The ramen is out of this world!!!! Definitely try the pork or shrimp. Best ramen we have ever had. We stumbled upon this place by accident, but in reality it was no accident and we were meant to be here. It was so good we needed to come the second night to try the homemade pasta by Roberto. Everything is homemade and it doesn’t matter what you get your mouth will water. Also the homemade craft beer was just the icing on the top. Finally found a good IPA, again homemade. If you’re lucky and get talking with the owners you just might get lucky and try some secret real good Mezcal. Then there’s the bartender making epic cocktails. This place hits every point and everyone does their job outstandingly. The owners are also the friendliest people you will meet and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy. Make sure to save room for desert, you won’t be disappointed.
Stumbled upon this gem 2 nights ago on one of the side streets. It was so good our whole group came back the next night! I can honestly say i had the best ramen in my life here! All the ingredients were so flavorful it was crazy! The corn, the shiitake mushrooms, egg, and obviously the pork in the ramen was to die for. They make their own beer, and the IPA was really good. 👌

Highly recommend getting just off the main road to try Xavier’s ramen. We had the pork ramen and gyozas and both were excellent. Xavier was also great to chat with and provided us some other recommendations for our future travels around Mexico!

I had the Cha siu ramen and was very impressed with the quality, broth, and variety of toppings. Also don’t sleep on their homemade sriracha (it comes on the side with the ramen). Fast and friendly service too!
I can't speak highly enough of Javier and Mar!!! They made our last night in Mazunte absolutely perfect. They made special accommodations for one of our friends who had a sensitive stomach and helped us celebrate a big birthday with the most delicious mezcal ever. Everything they brought to the table was DELICIOUS! I'll be telling people about this place for years to come. The next time I visit Oaxaca, Reina Negra will be the first stop for sure. ¡Muchas gracias!
Delicious!! I don’t even like ramen usually but tried a bite from my boyfriend here I came back and ordered a whole bowl for myself. Tried ribs, gyoza and sashimi as well and they were all very good. The owner is a very nice guy as well
A hidden gem in Mazunte! Lovely people, great atmosphere and delicious food. Had the pork ramen with crispy greens, tender meat, 72 hour cooked broth and amazing eggs. Coming back for more :)
This place is a true gem. You can tell that the owners care deeply about the quality of food. I’m a from NYC and not easy to impress. My husband and I shared the Pad Thai and vegan ramen and they were to live for. They make their own pad Thai and sriracha sauce! They are even better than the original’s. The cucumber mezcalitas were also yummy. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Our visit to Reina Negra in Mazunte was nothing short of a 5-star experience. The owners are incredibly friendly and fluent in English. It's evident they're dedicated to constantly enhancing their menu. They were also full of top-notch recommendations for things to do around the area. The highlight for us was definitely the gyozas, and finding my favorite sake on their list was the cherry on top. Can't wait to see their new concept during our next visit. Highly recommended! ---
Food is delicious and the service is top notch! Ramen and gyoza are a must and my husband ate all the noodles from another dish before I even had a chance to steal any off his plate! I will definitely be returning to try all the other dishes, especially that matcha cheesecake…. 👀
This restaurant was recommended to us when El Armadillo was fully booked. The atmosphere was calm, the food was delicious (chicken wings, gyoza and beef rib), the service was great and I enjoyed the craft beer on tap. The chef gave us an extra little desert at the end which was great.
Delicious vegan Ramen! I've been to Reina Negra twice and have tried both their Vegan Ramen and Vegan Pad Thai. Both are great vegan options but I received more joy from the ramen, it's a big serving with great flavors. Either way you can't go wrong! I also tried the cheese cake (not vegan) and it was quite the treat! The owners are sweet and the place is clean and vibrant, I 100% recomend.
We’ve been in the area (manzute / zipolite / San agustinillo) for 5 nights so far and we had 3 dinners at this place, let me just start from there… First dinner was all their signature Asian food - our ramen was good. Korean chicken wings were not too saucy or too salty which was very hard to balance but they did it. Then we went for their Italian pop-up kitchen. The costillar was mind-blowing! It was so flavorful, juicy and tender. The ravioli was also great and I usually don’t even like raviolis…so the following night we went back again and ended up taking 20 raviolis home… The owner was so friendly and I like the idea that he partners with different chefs / artists / bands from the local community to support each other! All in all, great place. We will absolutely be back again while we are here!
We stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant on a roadtrip from Puerto Escondido. Service and atmosphere are great. We had the wings, their specialty salad and pork ramen. Everything was fabulous! The owner Javier was super friendly and incredibly helpful. He shared lots of knowledge with us about the local area. If we had stayed longer we would have gone a second night. We will be back when we are in town again.

Un lugar de comida asiática, los ingredientes son de calidad y la atención es excelente! Pedimos unas gyozas, verduras tempura y unos noodles con cerdo, todo estaba muy rico. También tienen cervezas artesanales, preparados con alcohol y sin alcohol. Las personas que atienden son locales y aparte de que son súper amables nos dieron recomendaciones de que hacer y a donde ir (gracias por eso). Súper recomendado, definitivamente volvería.
Lugar pequeño, acogedor, iluminación cálida, la atención buena del personal, restaurante chiquitito sin mucha pretención pero buena presentación, el personal es eficiente y eficaz. Servicio rápido No hay mucho lugar de estacionarse es en la calle No es barato aprox el costo es de 400 a 500 por persona dependiendo de que pidas y las bebidas. Todo muy rico 😋 preparado al momento La bebida de piña con gengibre deliciosa La margarita rica muy fría pero la variante es que está hecha con mezcal y no con tequila eso le da un toque diferente Los fideos de arroz con cerdo se llevan la noche deliciooooosos altamente recomendables El ramen delicioso y llenador si no comes mucho yo creo que entre dos esr excelente Las giozas ricas El te de jazmín frío recomendable Los adamemes deliciosos muy recomendable pero debes estar abierto a nuevos sabores ( curry, jengibre) la panceta mega Archi deliciosa Muy recomendable

Reina Negra had only just reopened after a year when we visited. While there was a limited menu as a result, the small selection of dishes that were available did not disappoint! Pork gyoza and tempura shrimp were our favourites. Along with the (very rare in the area) wide variety of draft beers. Service was brilliant. Would 100% recommend.
My boyfriend and I went a day after the restaurant re-opened, it had a slightly limited menu but the food was absolutely fantastic. I had been craving some decent Asian food since getting to Mexico a month ago and this finally hit the spot. Everything was fresh, authentic and so tasty. Maria is really knowledgeable and friendly, has trained a great team and we are so excited to try her other restaurant (Ramen Republic) in Oaxaca City!
THEY'RE BACK! This has been one of my favorite restaurants in Mazunte for years. Their ramen is some of the best I've had in any country. This location was closed for a while, but they just reopened and I couldn't be happier about that. Great food, a lovely location, incredible artisanal beer and mezcal, and the owners Mar and Javier are super sweet and friendly.
We had an excellent meal with great service and fun conversation with staff snd owner. All of the appies were tasty. Unique blend of fresh Mexican ingredients and cooking with south Asia cuisine.
Reopened yesterday after a year of being closed and was absolutely amazing! Stunning gyozas and a really lovely home cooked tasting pork and noodle main. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, can’t wait to see what becomes of their next phase.

Да, он вкусный, но порция огромная! Спасибо этому месту за гостеприимство.
Este lugar es una de las joyas culinarias de Mazunte. Una carta con 3 platos que todos son muy buenos. Las gyozas son hechas a mano, al momento y se nota. El pollo frito tiene un rebozado que es un canto a la vida y los noodles una reinvencion del noodle con boloñesa. Si quieres comer bien, este es el lugar. Y mención aparte son Mar y Javier, propietarios y hermosas personas que están siempre atendiéndote con una sonrisa y recomendaciones para hacer la estancia en Mazunte aún más maravillosa.
Particularmente a mi no me gusta el ramen y este ME ENCANTÓ, sin palabras!! También nos animamos a probar el sake y también súper bueno, el lugar tenía buena música, los precios se me hicieron súper bien y pasamos un rato muy agradable, los dueños súper amables… lo recomiendo muchísimo
El trato fue por demás amable, se nota cuando el propietario atiende su propio negocio, la calidez que nos brindó y la amabilidad fue genial, aunado a ello la comida es fantástica, el cerdo es muy rico y suave y el ramen es brutal, sólo como consejo deberían de tener más opciones de ramen, en general fue una muy grata experiencia lo recomiendo ampliamente, diría que es imperdible.
Me pedí la sopa de Ramen y fue uno de los ramens más ricos que he probado jamás. De lejos superó mis expectativas. También la pareja que son los dueños del lugar son súper amables. Mi amiga pedío las costillas coreanas las cuales también estuvieron deliciosas. Sin duda volvería y me alegra que vayan a abrir un restaurante en Oaxaca de Juárez también.
El mejor ramen de cerdo que he probado (no es grasoso, ni demasiado especiado, o con mucho sabor a ajo, muy equilibrado el sabor), también las gyozas de cerdo. Amé el té verde sencha frío y la horchata de ajonjolí negro. El dueño es muy amable, y amigable. El servicio es rápido, sin duda volvería.
Un lugar fuera de lo común y que destaca sobre los demás restaurantes de Mazunte. Aquí, Javier y Mar te atenderán como si fueras un amigo cercano y te harán sentir en casa. El Ramen, el cual es su especialidad, está elaborado al estilo Tonkotsu y tiene una carga espesa y rica de sabor a cerdo, un poco salado pero complementado con los toppings (Chyashu cocinado a la perfección, huevo cocido, palmitos, espinaca) y el delicioso fideo, hacen de este un plato especial para vivir una noche diferente y única en Mazunte. El Pad Thai también está muy rico y las Gyozas son el complemento perfecto. El único punto negativo sería su mixologia, la cual podría ser mejor (pedimos una Mezcalita la cual no estaba tan rica) pero de ahí en fuera el lugar es muy bueno.
Ayer vistamos el único restaurante asiático en Mazunte, y vaya sorpresa!!! Pedimos los 3 platos del menú de verano el pollo 🍗 estuvo excelente!!! 🤤 Un sabor agridulce con picante 🌶️ !! Los fideos 🍜 con carne de puerco 🐷 deliciosos y súper bien servidos!! 😋 y las gyozas 🥟 de puerco 🐖 con ensalada 🥗 asiática las mejores que he probado hasta ahora !!! Un servicio excepcional y cada plato solo $100 cada uno. Se nota que los dueños están atentos a lo que sus clientes piden!! Pedimos sake 🍶 japonés 🇯🇵 y que agradable experiencia!!! Les recomiendo probar cualquier cosa del menú les aseguro les encantará tanto como a mi.

Fui a reina negra para los noodles....ma la sorpresa fue inesperada y arriba todas mi expectaciónes. A luego de cocina "coreana", nos tocó un joven, capaz y muy profesional chef italiano ROBERTO. Comimos un pulpo extraordinario y una increible y casera mozzarella preparada para el chef mismo. Sin duda es unos de los lugares mejores que encuentras en Mazunte. Lástima que él trabaja hay nada más algunos días en la semana, por lo tanto pregunté de el ante de entrar. Felicitaciones a todo el equipo.

Llegamos por recomendación a este lugar, lo más delicioso fue el ramen de cerdo, las costillas de cerdo, y ramen de camarón. El agua de mango natural, el té verde frío, la cerveza saporo, el fermentado de miel, espectacular. El lugar muy agradable, puede ser pet friendly.
La comida es muy rica, con porciones bastante grandes, el servicio de Javier y Mar excelente. Las costillas, el ramen, las gyozas, todo súper recomendable! Incluso puedes pedir broth cocktails (lastima que olvide tomarle foto).
Qué gusto encontrar este lugar! A 2 minutos de la principal fuera del bullicio, para disfrutar de una cena deliciosa. La sazón es de primer nivel! 🤤 Los mejores noodles que he comido en años! Desde que te recibe el dueño del lugar ya es garantía de que los alimentos están estrictamente cuidados, se siente un ambiente cálido, excelente calidad en los ingredientes, nos comimos unas gyosas y un ramen, de los mejores que hemos comido (al rededor del mundo) tomamos sake y un refresco/cerveza tipo kombucha de jengibre, simplemente deliciosa 💕 mil gracias a Javier y a su esposa por el trato. Obviamente regresamos.

Excelente lugar! La comida estaba deliciosa! Las aguas naturales hechas en el momento, todo nos encantó, al final no alcanzamos postre pero el dueño nos sorprendió con un sustituto de postre, una crema de mezcal de mango que estaba 😍😍😍 definitivamente recomiendo 100% y regresaré pronto! Solo alcancé a tomar una foto porque todo estaba tan Rico que ni tiempo me dio jeje

Really good food, and very understanding about allergies! They made me a whole separate gluten free, dairy free ramen from scratch and took extra care to make sure it was free from gluten and dairy. Really good food and really nice place, good for all kinds of allergies/intolerances! Would highly recommend :)
We stopped in on a slow, rainy night and had some of the most delicious pork ramen ever. Javier and Mar were easy to talk to and a great resource for recommendations in the area – it's easy to see they genuinely enjoy connecting with travelers. They also accommodated a little off-menu request for my upset stomach (just some broth and veggies to-go please!) which was so appreciated. A great place for comfort food. Thanks for having us!
Our dinner last night at Reina Negra was incredible! My wife had the Pork Ramen, which was the best we have ever tasted. To drink, she had the Black Sesame Horchata, which was unique and delicious. I had the Korean Fried Chicken and fries. The chicken was crunchy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside, and covered with the tastiest sauce you could possibly imagine. The fríes were an excellent compliment to the chicken. To drink I had a mezcal mojito, which was very refreshing on a hot evening. Javier took care of us, and he was very friendly and engaging. Mar runs the kitchen to perfection. This was our favorite meal of our week-long vacacion!

I would go as far as saying that the pork chashu ramen is better ones I’ve had in New York City. The Korean fried chicken is perfectly breaded with the most delicious sauce. The pork gyoza dumplings were also crispy and delightful. Everything is homemade and the owner was very helpful. The ginger beer is homemade by the server/bartender, with ginger honey lemon… so refreshing and the best we’ve ever had. This place is truly special — Thank you for a great meal!
Wow. Everything was so good. The Korean fried chicken was phenomenal. Gyoza was perfect. Everything prepared fresh. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options too. If you are in Mazunte and don’t eat here, you’re doing it wrong. Thank you!
Unbelievably delicious food and welcoming hospitality. We had the veggie pad thai and the pork ramen and both were exceptional, far surpassing my expectations. Javier was also super welcoming and shared some local knowledge with us. Swing by for a meal, you wont regret it.,
We tried the ramen and Korean fried chicken, and both were excellent. The chicken was crispy on the outside (very similar to authentic Korean fried chicken in Korea) and juicy on the inside. The ramen had plenty of flavor, but we also added the house-made hot sauce, which made the soup even better. If you’re craving Asian food, this is the place to go. It satisfied our taste for authentic Asian cuisine.
Great food (I 100% recommend the vegetarian drunken noodles) and amazing people there. The service was amazing, the boss was a really funny dude, making jokes and we chatted for a but while waiting for our food. The chief is super talented! The place is also gorgeous and fresh. Second time here on our 10 day trip in Mazunte :) We tried the veggie ramen, pork ramen, shrimp gyoza and veggie pad Thai and of course the artisanal beer! Food and drink are fantastic! Service is great - the owner provided us with many local recommendations and was so welcoming, along with all other staff! Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area looking for delicious food.
The ramen of my dreams. I consider myself a ramen connoisseur, and THIS was one of the greatest ramens I have ever had. Not to mention, the owners are a delight and made the experience so wonderful. Prices are also very reasonable for such incredible quality food. I’ve gone two days in a row now… BLESS!
Best seafood in Mazunte. Best ramen we've ever had ( we're not even kidding) We loved this restaurant so much that we ended up there 3x in one week. We tried the entire menu and each plate literally was made to perfection. We tried the gyozas, the pork ramen, the fried chicken and the drunken noodles. I'm literally salivating as I'm writing this review because of how finger-licking good it was. Definetly your go-to spot when visiting Mazunte. The owners Javier and Mar and staff are absolute gems and you can tell the food is made with so much love and care. This place is all about community. Be sure to visit them on Sundays too where they host salsa classes there at night! Always so much fun. Do yourself a favor and go visit! You won't be disappointed.
What a delightful surprise we had! Reina Negra is at 100m from the Mazunte main road, in the peaceful little street of the church coasting the basketball court in the center of the town. The environment was peaceful and spacious, as a local I could find the privacy I often strive for, far from the touristic craze of Rinconcito road and the Main road. Javier and Mar are so kind and caring, they make you feel at home instantly. The food is delicious, honestly you can taste it's made with love, and the best part is that mains are 100$mxn each and the portions are well-balanced. We were two and got 3 mains: the gyozas, the veggie rice noodles (with tofu, so good protein source) and the pork ramen - just YUMMY! To drink I got jazmine ice tea (no sugar - it is hard to find good sugar free drinks in town so I was very happy, and I love tea). Everything amazing. We had a great time. This is the kind of restaurant I was looking for: warm, healthy, affordable and delicious. What can I say, I drove 20 minutes on my own the next day just to go and try the fried chicken, with some veggie rice noodles again. Not disappointed. I can easily say I'll be a regular at Reina Negra.
We highly, highly recommend checking out this very authentic restaurant. The vegetarian ramen, pork ramen and chicken wings were delicious. Excellent homemade draft beer and mezcal. Super cool vibe. The owners put so much care, detail and love into this restaurant. Top quality ingredients. You can tell this is their passion and they are excited to share it with you. They spent time chatting with us and sharing their beautiful story. We had recently arrived to Mazunte and they shared helpful tips for the area. We were blessed to meet such a beautiful couple! Look forward to coming back to enjoy some ramen, beer and mezcal!
Amazing veggie ramen! Usually veggie ramen is such an afterthought - but so delicious and healthy. Super friendly people, had some of Javier’s homemade beer and it was delicious.
Stumbled upon this hidden gem in Mazunte, after a long day at the beach. All I can say is wow! Amazing ramen and Asian cuisine in Mexico, who would’ve thought. My partner and I ordered the special of the night, the gyoza, which did not disappoint, pork and chive perfection. For the main courses we had were the pork ramen and the beef bulgogi short ribs. Both were amazing, we were really impressed by the flavour and the ramen was easily one of the best I’ve ever had. To follow this all up, the drinks we had were great. I got the locally made draft beer and my partner, the house mezcal, we thoroughly enjoyed both. Meanwhile, the staff and service was exceptional! The owner came and spoke to us multiple times throughout the evening, and we learned the restaurant was family run. They seemed to know everyone coming in. Overall, a great atmosphere, and even better food! We will definitely be back. The best restaurant in Mazunte we have come across.
Don’t miss this hidden gem on the street across from the ATM in Mazunte. Had the gyoza (very good) & the vegetarian & pork ramen (both very tasty); the latter had a sizable chunk of pork, which of course pleased me no end! They make their own broths for the ramen plus the sriracha sauce. They have both Asian & Italian menus & by the time we left after an early dinner, the place was almost full. On top of that, the owner, Javier, went way beyond to help us locate a mobile vet for our cat & reached out to potential landlords in our research for a winter getaway in Dec 2023. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Saw a flyer for this place at our hotel and very glad we decided to give them a shot. We had the Korean fried chicken, the beef bulgogi, the house special salad and the passion fruit cheesecake for dessert! Each dish was as good as the next, but the bulgogi and salad were the stars. Will definitely try their ramen next time. As a bonus the owners Javier and Mar were both rad!
Lovely dining experience in Mazunte hidden down one of the side streets. The food was tasty and satisfied my perpetual craving for Asian food. The owner Javier was super personable and offered us a ton of great local recommendations. Wish we'd had time to come back and try the Italian side of the restaurant as those dishes also sounded delicious!

Great service but the food was tasteless and made with cheap ingredients. The pork noodles dish was bland and was made with cheap minced pork. Not worth the price they charged
Really overpriced compared to the overall experience. 280mxn for a tasteless pad thai with overcooked noodles, the chairs were very uncomfortable and the whole atmosphere of the place was really not matching the price they ask. There was no menu, so what a surprise when the bill came. On the bright side, the waitress was lovely.
Nice place. Decent washrooms. Friendly service. The noodles were nice but overpriced. We ordered a bottle of inexpensive white wine. There was no drinks menu so we didn't see a price. We were charged the equivalent of $60 CAD which was outrageous. I wouldn't eat there again but then they knew that because i was asked how much longer i was in Mazunte for.
We had ramen and noodels. The noodels was sweeming in oil and the ramen was not close to the origin Using instent noodles.We said it didn't taste good to us, we didn't touch it and the owner ignored this fact. In my opinion, a place that respects itself offers to replace the dish or refund money. Disappointing experience.
Be warned! Our food took over an hour to arrive. Unsurprisingly, it was cold. The vegan ramen was straight bad -- almond milk as broth? Another dish arrived differently than initially described. The owner retroactively blamed this all on them being short-staffed, but he should have told us that up-front, or any of the other angry people at tables around us. He also said he'd comp a main dish, which he didn't. Overall, a terrible experience. Don't open a restaurant, let alone a ramen restaurant, if you don't know what you're doing.
In over 2 weeks in Zipolite & Mazunte, dinner here was our only bad food experience. My friends and I went because of ads we saw for ramen, they didn’t have any. Pad Thai was the ONLY option. They came out cold and the last of four orders came out ten minutes after the first three. The gyoza appetizers were terrible (I’ve never seen deep fried gyoza before). And bad service to top it off. Clearly, I would never recommend this place.
