I’ve been to 3 Michelin star restraunts in Vegas this summer and this restaurant is just as good as the Michelin star restraunts I had in Vegas!

We stumbled upon this place after walking back from the lifts on our first night in Deer Valley and are so glad we did. Being someone who has lived in Germany, I will vouch that the Wiener Schnitzel here was outstanding. It’s a big enough meal to share between two people. The Bavarian bread was also incredible but I would skip the tomato salad. The dressing(s) were way too strong. Overall, this place was wonderful and worth the price. Also, I would not suggest wearing cut off denim shorts…I was very underdressed.

Goldener Hirsch in Deer Valley continues to set the standard. The remodel is beautiful elevated, warm, and thoughtfully done while still keeping the classic Hirsch charm that makes it feel special the moment you walk in. The service was exceptional, and Milan deserves a special mention. He was professional, attentive, and genuinely made the experience feel seamless from start to finish. Congratulations to Pierce and Jonathan for running such an outstanding restaurant operation. You can feel the leadership in every detail—hospitality, pacing, teamwork, and overall execution. This is one of the best dining experiences in Deer Valley.

This is an Austrian restaurant in Deer Valley.. While not all dishes are strictly from the Austrian cuisine (there are German and Swiss cuisines as well), you can enjoy some of Austria’s most famous dishes here, such as Wiener Schnitzel and Apfel Strudel (apple strudel). Besides you can have fine dining meals such as fondue, french onion soup and all different kind of beef, lamp and chicken dishes as well. As you approach the restaurant, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into an authentic Austrian establishment. The interior is cosy and inviting.. Once inside, the ambiance is delightful, the food is incredibly tasty, and the service is both high-quality and efficient.. Our waiter, Joe, was particularly experienced and professional, leaving us very satisfied. I’m sure someone as skilled as him will continue to excel in their profession.. The service here was really the best that we have ever experienced. This restaurant is top-notch in every way, worth the price, and so I highly recommend it. If you’re in the area, for skiing or just only for visiting, be sure to visit this restaurant..

Hiked Deer Valley then stopped by the Goldener Hirsch Restaurant for a beer and food afterwards and had an amazing experience! Being a big fan of the Swiss Chalet and their fondues in Vail I saw this restaurant, which is German themed, was known for thier cheese fondue as well so we wanted to give it a shot. My wife and I were not disappointed! Needless to stay, the Goldener Hirsch Resturant along with Cena across the street and the Glitretind next door at the Stein makes this an amazing area for fine dining. I couldn't recommend all three spots highly enough.

We went to Goldener Hirsch for our annual work Christmas luncheon. The food and atmosphere were perfect for the occasion. My whole team enjoyed themselves.

What an amazing night we had. Chef Pablo Matos was the absolute rockstar of the night. And Ony gave us a great service and suggestions. It was nice to meet them. A party of 4. We had filet mignon, king salmon, and fettuccine pasta with 2 different meats. The cheese board as amazing, oysters and mussels. I can keep going 😂😂 but everything was 10/10. Definitely coming back.

Really enjoyed our visit here. Very authentic Austrian ambience and the food was great. I wish they had a better German beer list is my only suggestion. I actually own a craft brewery but really want the real German thing when eating great German food The cheese pull apart bread was great and the French onion soup pared well. My wife and I split the Weiner Schnitzel and the lamb. Both were delicious and very well done. The chocolate fondue was huge. We couldn't eat it all but it was great. Really ideal to split with 3-4 people I would think. We would definitely make this a must return the next time we are in the area.

The food at the Goldener Hirsch was exceptional, but even more so were the people. Meredith, Mariano, Angelo, and Lucas were delightful to chat with and were so knowledgeable about the menu, wine list, and beyond. Treat yourself and stop by!

Very good fondue!! We also had the excellent French Onion soup and one of the salads. The Chocolate Mousse Dome was also very good. Service was attentive but not intrusive.

My wife and I went here when they were doing tasting menu and we really enjoyed it. If you bring it back we'd go back in a heartbeat. All the food we got was amazing.

WOW. The food experience was immaculate. Flavors were all on point and the service was wonderful. Fondue is a must-have along with the schnitzel. Not to mention the chocolate fondue for dessert. They have homemade marshmallows that will forever put other marshmallows to shame! If you want a fine dining experience with exceptional food and a unique atmosphere this is worth it all the way.

THE place to be for an authentic Austrian / Bavarian meal experience at Park Coty, Utah. It’s is on the pricy side - but if you are for cheese and chocolate fondue, it’s definitely worth it. Staffs are courteous and patient. The menu and wine list is extensive and the ambience transcends you to Europe. The portion is generous so order wisely. We had Chicken pate & waffle, cheese fondue (enough food but not enough cheese) and chocolate (dark chocolate) was the highlight with marshmallows! Highly recommend for group dinner, date night and family night (early seating).

We went to the restaurant at Goldener Hirsch for dinner. It far exceeded our expectations. Previously we have dined at Bouchon Bistro and The French Laundry in CA. I have to say the quality of our dinner was as good as what we had at the French Laundry. Chef Nicolas at GH uses fresh local ingredients in a masterful way. The presentation of the dishes was perfect. The bread and deserts were amazing. Serving staff was very attentive. I always thought I would have to travel back to Yountville, CA for incredible dining, but it's right here in Utah at the Goldener Hirsch in Deer Valley. Don't miss it.

While in Deer Valley for a conference I had lunch at The Goldener Hirsch and had a great experience. The pretzel was a delicious option and the schnitzel slider were also very tasty. Next time I am in Deer Valley I will definitely be coming back

Extremely cozy European feel. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were extremely attentive. Offering the best service in Park City/Deer Valley area. Our food was delicious. The homemade bread was some of the best bread we have ever tasted. We highly recommend dining here.

We’ve dined here many times, especially, as today, on our anniversary. Food, drinks, and service are always exceptional. By the time we left, we felt like family. For those old enough to remember “Cheers,” it’s an upscale version. Enjoy this place. You won’t be disappointed!

Great atmosphere (Austrian vibes) and really interesting negroni/aperitivo menu. Delicious food; highlights were the tortelli and the Wiener schnitzel.

Dining at Goldener Hirsch in Park City feels like being transported straight to a cozy Swiss cottage. The atmosphere, with its fireplaces and elegant decor, is enchanting—like stepping into an exquisite fondue restaurant in Switzerland. The experience is absolutely worth it, but there’s one important thing to note: the cheese fondue doesn’t bring enough cheese. If you love fondue like we do, be prepared. We were a group of four and had to order two servings just to feel satisfied. It’s a disappointment considering it’s one of their signature dishes. The food overall is excellent—the salmon was a standout—but the portions for the fondue are underwhelming for the price. Speaking of prices, this restaurant is very expensive. The cheese fondue is pricey, and the wine is even more so—our bottle was over $160. That said, the ambiance and quality of the food make this a unique, memorable experience. Just be prepared for the cost and keep in mind that the fondue portions could be more generous. Still, I’d recommend it for the atmosphere alone—it’s a little piece of Switzerland in Park City.

Pierce was amazing to interact with. You can tell that he really cares about the guest experience and his team. It’s a breath of fresh air to see someone who takes such pride and and dignity in their profession.

From the moment you walk in, to when you walk out, Goldener Hirsch is a truly delightful experience. The ambiance is fantastic, the place is quite cozy, yet upscale with its fine dining. From the people at the front desk, to the waiters and the cooks, all the staff is phenomenal. Our waiter (s) are all kind and friendly, yet informative and knowledgeable. There is quite a nice wine list/drink menu, which is great. Appetizers, for us normally the classic Fondue (which we had the wagyu beef) is the best fondue we've ever had. That, with all the sides it comes with, makes it truly great. The Wiener Schnitzel, normally our main dish, is always super, a perfect crunch and crust, with tasteful flavors. The chocolate fondue is also good too. The only and I mean only, complaint is that the prices are high, nonetheless, that's normal for an upscale park city restaurant. Overall though, I would highly recommend this place to all visitors, and locals (like me) that want a nice treat one in a while.

Recently went with a big group during a ski trip. This place is definitely expensive, so having someone on an expense account is my tip. But the food is fantastic, and our sever Cheyenne was incredible. She encourage to order the shareable plates and was just generally a delight.

If you are in Deer Valley, this is a restaurant you do not want to miss. It is extremely charming! The interior is inviting, cozy and comfortable. The food is truly outstanding. We tried the fondue, the French onion soup, and the laminate bread. Everything was absolutely delicious!! The fondue is very authentic and a MUST try! The service there was probably the best that we have ever experienced. Every person on the staff was friendly, warm, and attentive. I cannot say enough nice things about this experience. We will certainly be back! And for everyone reading this review, if you spend an evening here, you will not be disappointed! One last tip, leave room for dessert. The homemade donuts and ice cream were out of this world!

Really nice spot for lunch while skiing. Go through the silver lake lodge and walk out the back. Don't miss the soft pretzel to start. The salad is really good and I like it with the steak.

We came here thrice during our stay. Once for Apres ski, lunch and dinner. The food was just absolutely amazing! Delicious fondue, bison pasta, wagyu beef and out of the world cocktails. The service was impeccable. We will absolutely be back.

I love the old world feel of this restaurant. It truly feels as if you've left Park City and arrived in Austria. The food is excellent and delicious, but what really stands out is the outstanding staff... from the valet to the waiters and support staff. Our server Harold was exceptional. He made us feel special. When you spend that kind of money on an evening, it should matter.. We will return for another fabulous dinner soon.

We came here two nights out of our week long stay in the area. The food was all great and the atmosphere was cozy. What set it apart was our waiter, especially the second night. Zoltan is amazing and deserves a raise! What a sterling testament to all the good that immigrants bring to this country. The restaurant is great about dietary needs and they go above and beyond in making sure you have a pleasant experience. My wife mentioned in passing how much she liked beets the first night and the waiter, Joe, took it upon himself to add more beets to the beet salad she ordered. Great experience. Highly recommend!

Good food. Great fondue. In this day and age, surprising to find very limited vegetarian option (only 1 soup and some salad options). They manage to modify the pasta and the result was quite delicious. Salads were good size. Service was messed up. Drinks order was not accurate. The waitress upsold the champagne to us- we asked for 3 flutes of champagne for a toast but were told a bottle only contained 4 glasses - which was not accurate. Very pleasant staff but overall I was disappointed with the service.

We went here for dinner the other night. The food was good along with the ine and mixed drinks. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The chairs were stiff and uncomfortable to sit in for a 2 hour meal. Portions were a little small but tasted excellent !

I would go back just to have their warm glazed doughnut stack.

The service and atmosphere were excellent on the one time that we went. If you want to get a taste of Bavaria, then this is a good choice. Obviously, not exactly the same as actually going to Bavaria, of course, but certainly reminiscent with the decor. For the Utah area, this was the closest resemblance we could find, other than maybe some beer halls in the area (but this is much more upscale and nicer, as it is connected to the Auberge hotel, over a causeway that you walk across). The food is very good overall, but the Weiner schnitzel is pretty thick and not pounded thin, like in Vienna. So, we were disappointed by the Weiner schnitzel, as we were really hoping it would be like what we had in Vienna, at least at those places where the Weiner schnitzel covers the entire plate and is drooping over the edge. That was not the case here at all. It is also quite expensive, but you are paying for the service, ambiance and food. Obviously, check the prices before you go, but like I said, it is a taste of Bavaria, without having to pay the high price and time to fly to Germany these days! Overall, I gave it a four for these reasons.

J
Jack Knapp

Odd deal. I have often ordered the Weinershnizel and is great. This time I got it and it was half the size I normally receive, but a few minutes later guy sitting near us gets his dish and it was as if they gave him a double order. His portion was huge. Bummed me out.

We eat here every year for lunch and dinner. Food and service is always amazing. The only shocking thing is how rude the hostess staff always are. Consistent every year. Waiters and staff are amazing. Just look past the hostess stand.

New name, new chef, remodeled unfortunately is a restaurant that is not as good as it was. The fondue is still great but all of us just thought our food was just okay. The table are so close together, it is difficult to leave your table to go to the restroom or when the meal is over. The picture where the waiter is standing is how you have to get to your table.

Y

We went here for a lunch and breakfast. Lunch: Weiner Schnitzel was overcooked and tasteless as a result, unfortunately. Nicoise salad was just OK. Breakfast: Inconsistent quality of cappuccino. My breakfast favorites were Eggs and Prosciutto and Benedict Croissant. Avocado toast had way too much vinegar and missed crucial flavor of avocado. Breakfast sandwiches are pretty big. Wasn't a fan of ricotta pancakes either. Service is a bit slow. Excellent cocktails made by Jesus, recommended. Great Bavarian decor.

C
Chelsea Rice

Cocktails and live music in the lounge were great. Good atmosphere, food was pretty good, but it took forever for our food to come out. The server recognized that and offered us complimentary dessert, but it didn’t make up for the fact that it took an hour and a half for our entrees to come out.

A
Alexander Cimos

The GH is not what it once was. Inexperienced and inattentive wait staff. Poor food quality and presentation. Salmon was undercooked (raw in center) when requested to be cooked through, bratwurst was nothing more than a hot dog in a bun. Strudel was stale and took 20 minutes to be delivered. Product not reflective of the price. Air ball.

This was not the greatest experience. We had five people and they put us on a tiny table that obviously didn't fit. We asked for a bigger table and they moved us to a slight bigger one but still cramped for five. We ordered wine and the sommelier was less than friendly and never came back which was probably a blessing in disguise. One star for him for sure. Food was good but not great. Overall disappointing experience although our waiter was a very nice young man and friendly which saved this from a two star review.

M
Michael Hornsby

We were very excited about this restaurant. Atmosphere was good but the service was very poor. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks and the waiter didn’t even acknowledge the issue (after coming back 20 minutes in asking what we ordered because he hadn’t placed it yet).

B
BillyBob Ford

Maybe it is because we showed up in the afternoon and they ran a limited menu, but the food left much to be desired. The Wiener Schnitzel was terrible. It was tough, the breading was too thick. I think it was prepared way in advance, sat in the fridge and then just thrown into a deep fryer (Schnitzel should be pan-made in such a high end establishment). The Spãtzle they served tasted like yesterdays leftovers. We also had a Burger at the table, that looked and tasted terrific. The bone marrow was just OK. Nice beer variety and amazing furnishings/atmosphere. Service was impecable. Based on the quality of food and their high prices, I will probably not return any time soon. - Oh, I really appreciated the complimentary valet parking.

M
Mathias Arkayin

Avoid this restaurant. The fondue was the worst we’ve ever tasted and the service was slow and inattentive. Food: The fondue was runny, overpowered with alcohol, and bland. I’m from Switzerland and while I don’t expect an authentic fondue in the US, this was unacceptably bad for a $65 dish at an Austrian-inspired luxury hotel. We tried to send it back but were told it was in the restaurant’s style. A premade fondue pack from Whole Foods would’ve tasted much better. Service: It took 20min to put in our orders even though we were one of the first people seated. Although our server was friendly, asking for anything throughout the meal was consistently difficult despite seeing groups of servers idly chatting together. My girlfriend’s birthday was never acknowledged once despite indicating it twice on the reservation. We tried to leave feedback privately by email but were ignored. The positives were the excellent warm bread starter, the cozy ambiance/interior, and the friendly valet parking, but those are table stakes for a 5 star hotel. Maybe their other food is good, but if you want to celebrate a special occasion or eat a decent fondue in Park City/Deer Valley, avoid this place.

We had dinner here over Labor Day weekend. The setting was cozy and authentic, and the food was decent. We especially enjoyed the lobster tagliatelle. Unfortunately, our main waiter Joe made the experience unenjoyable. He had the coldest attitude throughout the night: no eye contact, no menu introduction, and slow service. It was as if it kills him to smile, but we soon noticed that he was actually capable of producing smiles and even laughter! He switches to a completely different personality when serving and entertaining the table next to us. We could not understand why that was the case because we were polite, quiet, and friendly towards him. The only difference noticeable was that not everyone at our table was white, unlike the table next to us. All other people who helped us were delightful, but Joe left a lot to be desired, especially for a place like Golden Hirsch.

Purchased dinner - both my wife and I got the scallops. Total scallops included for $50: 3 medium-sized scallops with nothing on the side. At any restaurant in Manhattan, Boston, San Francisco, LA, you would get at least six (6) medium to large scallops for $50, along with some side (creamed / mashed potatoes, broccoli, etc.). The dinner was a gift from my parents to me for a milestone birthday; my parents are on a limited budget, being in their 80s. Six months later, my mother still laments how embarrassed she was to take me to a restaurant that served an appetizer-sized meal for a dinner. The taste / flavor was very good, but at the end of the day, a meal should fill up the patron. My wife and I decided to go to a Five Guys to split a burger and fries to complete the meal. Goldner Hirsch management should more carefully balance the reputational risk vs. the profit margin (those scallops cost the restaurant $3 per person, plus time to cook/clean, so perhaps a $40 profit per plate). My wife and I have shared this story with a few dozen people - probably resulting in a number of couples that will think twice before going to the Goldner Hirsch for a nice meal. We’ve also dined at the formal dining area at some of Utah’s best dining locations, including Stein Erickson Lodge, Tuscany (SLC), Frank’s (SLC), Midway Mercantile (Midway), and Log Haven (Millcreek Canyon, UT) and are regular repeat customers of those restaurants. Never before have I felt ripped off from the quantity or quality of food at those restaurants.

If you are going there to see and be seen, then this is a good place for that. If you are going for the chalet atmosphere or the food, the. You will be sorely disappointed. The renovation has taken away the old European charm that I associated with this place before. I think the whole push towards modern design has ruined this place, including the hotel which actually stands like a sore thumb in the middle of the entire vibe for the area. More importantly, the food is not up to par. The fondue is totally off the mark. I assume it was to keep it light, but the cheeses in it have to taste and the kirsch is lacking. Worse, it was medium to cold temperature. The schnitzel has nothing to do with the typical schnitzel. It seems they take their cue from the chicken fried steak. Don’t waste your time or money.

B
Bill OConnell

Waitress was nice; but the food was terrible. Kitchen was slow...waited 20-30 minutes longer than what felt to be reasonable to get our entree. When my dish was served it looked ok; but my wife was served the wrong dish. She had to wait another 15-20 minutes while watching me eat mine. When her's finally arrived, it was undercooked and inedible. The whole experienced ruined our Christmas dinner. They should have written the bill off; but didn't. This should tell you everything you need to know.

J
Jeffrey Fisher

I have dined here for years. Last night was awful. The bread was not cooked..came out gooey uncooked dough, the fish looked and tasted like it came from the frozen department at Fresh Market and then was cooked until dry and inedible. The Schnitzel was dry, and overcooked. The apple strudel was inedible. Not cooked, not crispy, greyish in color. The only thing good was the wine i ordered….that took 20 min to come to the table. Not going back.

B
Brooke Becker

The night started off with a big family with crying, screaming kids behind us. I didn’t blame the restaurant for that, but it would’ve been nice if somebody would’ve asked them to be a little bit more conscious of the rest of the people in the restaurant. My big issue was the very, very dry schnitzel, and the fact that the manager was not willing to do anything about it. I was actually ashamed and embarrassed that I made such a big deal about this wonderful restaurant and brought my friends and then was served 4 very overpriced dry schnitzel’s. I am German and I grew up eating schnitzel. I can tell you the schnitzel they serve does not have the taste that any schnitzel I’ve been served at any German restaurant has. Oh, and don’t believe other reviews that the chicken schnitzel’s any better…it is a dry, thin breaded piece of chicken for $70 (as a kid’s portion). Don’t bother bringing anything to the manager’s attention because they could care less whether you were happy or not.

S
Scott

We had Christmas Eve dinner at Goldener Hirsch. What an extremely overpriced disappointment. First, when we get there we were led to believe that the only option available was a $160 per person price fixed dinner. Our server never told us that there was an additional limited menu also available which we definitely would have been interested in, particularly our 15 year old daughter. The food was also just mediocre at best. The main dish was a choice of either elk or halibut. My wife got the halibut and I got the elk. Both of those were dry and overcooked. These and the entire dishes were clearly cooked hours before they were served. It’s like they were heated up in a microwave before serving. So once you include a couple of glasses of wine and the tip we had a $750 bill for THREE people. We walked out of the restaurant feeling like we got completely ripped off. I have never experienced that before leaving a restaurant. As I said what a disappointment for a hotel of that magnitude.
