Avis sur Congregation Ale House Pasadena
Amazing overall! Food is absolutely delicious and fresh! The staff is wonderful, very friendly and accommodating and fast service. Definitely would come again on our next visit.
Cool outdoor seating, friendly service, and the food was AWESOME! Had the double bacon cheese burger with fries. Seriously, I don't know ANYONE who has a big enough mouth to take a bite of this MONSTER BURGER, and the beef patties were like eating a steak! Fries were great, too! A MUST try if you're in the area.
The value for food here is absolutely insane. It is obvious they make most of their money from drinks, which is good for people like me who don’t drink. A double bacon cheeseburger with a mountain of fries for only $22, and let me tell you the burger was massive. Really delicious and the environment gives good vibes with good service. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a decent number of TVs showing sports games.
The first time here and had great service. Came on a Thursday evening and it wasn't very crowded inside. Sat down my group immediately and the server was very helpful in helping us choose our beers. I enjoyed the On Vacay IPA. Didn't even know it was happy hour, but we got our $5 beers and some nachos and a pepperoni pizza for happy hour price. Also ordered the brussel sprouts which were very tasty. I thought the indoor theme and decor was nice. Would definitely come back.
Looking to change up our typical go to spots, we decided to venture out to Pasadena to check out. A local spot that came highly recommended. We stopped at Congregation Ale House and it was a packed house however didn't have to wait long to be seated and get our grub on. Being that's it's a brewery, I opted to try out the specialty beers that they make so ordered a flight. To pair well with my beer selection I order a Philly Cheesesteak and the misses order some nachos. The food was delicious and the beers were heavenly. With a welcoming vibe, this is a spot you can come with your family to hang out and chetch a game or two.
Congregation Ale House was a delight! The food and drink names are very on theme and clever. The staff were all very nice. The food was delicious! The pizza crust was fluffy and flavorful, the tots were perfectly crispy, the chicken sandwich was delicious, the pretzel was salty, warm and dunking in the cheese sauce was a chefs kiss. I had the forbidden fruit beer, it was tart, fruity and crisp! Free parking in a large lot, located very conveniently! Would recommend and plan on coming back!!
I come here for the burgers. They are all artisan style with layers of delicious flavors. The tots are much better then the fries and they have several dipping sauces. They have a revolving draft beer menu and full cocktail bar so the options are great. This place is set up so you get in line to order your food and drink then you find your table. You can sit inside or outside with a cool view of the park across the street. Definitely a fun place to unwind with friends.
Came here for drinks and appetizers...loved it!! The interior is so pretty! Loved the stain glass art and the arches. Plenty of seating. Great for groups! The food was great! Larger menu. We tried the sausage platter, the carnitas and truffle fries, and the hot wings. Everything was delicious!! There is a large drink menu with plenty of beer, wine and mixed drink options. I tried the basil gimlet and the white wine. Both were really nice!
Awesome place in Old Town Pasadena. Indoor and outdoor seating with a non-traditional service (minimum wait staff). Great selection of beer, wines and cocktails and the ribeye burger was awesome! Saturday afternoon crowd was great and the background music created a great atmosphere.
Good location. Next to the Metro station. Lots of draft beer/ale options. They brew locally in Azusa. A good selection of food. A bit on the pricey side. Tried the fish n chips. It was ok, nothing extra special.
Atmosphere was kind of a contemporary roadhouse bar and grill. Cathedral ceilings with structural beams exposed. The menus we were given were pretty shot out. The host had neat, new ones in his hand but opted to hand us beat up ones and instructed us to use the QR code. The website was not very phone friendly. we could not zoom in and the text was very small. Our waitress was delightful. the food was of good quality. I had the Diablo burger. It is made from ribeye. Although it tasted great, there was nothing Diablo about it. My partner had the carne asada fries. She described it as bland. I found it to be tasty. We agreed that it was just missing a spicy profile. My partner had the margarita sampler. they were all rimmed with chamoy and tajin. Although they were all tasty, you could tell they were made from syrups from a vendor. For the price, this is fair and expected. I know got photos of the margaritas fresh, and then an aftermath photo. Sorry for that. We visited Friday night, May 9 2025.
Came here for some beers and food after a hike in the hills near Pasadena. We initially decided on this place because of their Vegan menu to accommodate some of our group but unfortunately they have discontinued that menu and the food is not very veg friendly. We were still able to get a Brussel sprouts dish with the meat and cheese on the side. Our beautiful waitress Claudette was very sweet and patient with my family. The food was average but the choice of brews was the highlight of the place. There were too many fries on the table! but we had a good time :)
Decent pub for some good food and drinks. Has events throughout the week. Staff is friendly, food comes relatively fast. They just launched a vegan menu which seems pretty cool, but most of their menu is typical bar food. They don’t have any drinks for non-drinkers unfortunately. Had the Diablo chicken sandwich and the Diablo burger. The sauce wasn’t very spicy, had a sweet tang. Tasted as expected. Fries and tots were good. Solid place for a hangout.
Came here as a 2nd option as many of the other bars/restaurants in the area were closed by 9p. I think because of that, Congregation was pretty crowded with all tables being full. There wasn't a waiting list or hostess, so had to walk around until you saw someone leaving. It was tough as there wasn't any standing area to wait without feeling like you were standing over someone's table. Even the line for the bar ended up standing next to someone's table. It didn't take long to find a table though. After about 10 minutes, was able to hold a table while someone else was in line for drinks. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. There was a nice selection of different beers for everyone's preference on tap. I'd estimate about 25-30 beers on tap. There was a good amount of foods from burgers, pizza, fries, sausage, salads, sandwiches, etc.. to share over some drinks. Can't remember the names, but tried about 3 different beers on tap, the sausage platter, and nachos. Food was pretty good and not just for pub food. Food was fresh and well-prepared. Overall, was a good experience. It would be nice if there was an area to stand without standing over someone else's table, but I understand space is always limited.
Great sports bar that plays with the church theme. The decor plays along with the theme and creates a nice atmosphere. I was there in a Friday night and the atmosphere was good with a very attentive and friendly staff. The beer selection is large and covers the in house beers and mostly local options on tap. A beer fraisage has more special bottles available (Russian River and Cantillon were available when I was there). The food is typical sports bar fares and tastes very good. Fun place to grab a pint or two with friends.
I love the music in this place. They mostly play rock and specially alternative rock. The beverages are okay, they have a wide range of craft beer, local beer and some imported beer. I did not like that the bathroom of men was quite a mess, so I hope they can keep it cleaner next time I'm there. Being outside is good for taking since the music is not loud and they have heaters to keep an ideal temperature. Being inside is a good option too, but the music is a bit louder.
Momma always said, you can judge a place by the quality of their bathrooms. Male bathroom had a short stack of wet napkins by the sink, and urinal was broken. The water faucet automated sensor is very tricky, and my mom with alzheimers was unable to operate the water. Our water glasses were clean, but water stained. They also did not have SNLA to watch the Dodgers game. Food was satisfactory.
First off, Saturday late afternoon. Pretty much empty. After a bit of debate, decide to to sit and grab a bite with an Old Fashioned. Right on the menu in front of me they list various drinks with Makers Mark, so seems like a safe bet. No Makers Mark. So I get it with Bulleit. They bring me a glass practically empty, with the equivalent of crushed ice. Not appetizing in the least. Ordered a Cobb Chicken Salad. The chicken was good, but not chopped, which is fine, but all I was given was a fork. Not big issues, just little thing after little thing. No ambiance. No people. Not really very friendly. Music would go out and the few of us in there would just sit in silence (the one small TV on the wall playing the Rams game was muted. Unfortunate, because Ive been meaning to come here for a while, and won't likely be back.
There seems to be a trend in Pasadena of restaurants with these weird menus of pizza and tacos and sushi, etc. all under the same roof. This place doesn't have sushi but it certainly is keeping up with the Joneses. It's a chain or something, right? So the Philly cheese stake comes in the bread equivalent of a taco sized sandwich. The chef wasn't from Philly, best I could tell. So I wasn't expecting much, and boy was I still disappointed. There was cold cheese that was roughly broken up over the top of my sandwich. The bread was soggy and untoasted, the beef taste of freezer, and the veggies were mush, like twice thawed peppers. The stand out champ was the fries. I sent the sandwich back and said charge me for the fries, lol. They were good. The kiddo had a pretzel and, I mean, how do you mess up a pretzel? You bring it out with a flavorless cheese sauce that had been over whipped resulting in a broken cheese sauce. No problem, people won't notice the texture. I did but the kid didn't mind. Service was normal, we didn't ask for much attention so our drinks were full and he was totally fine. No fuss no muss. Would I go back? Not on purpose, but we're frequently trapped in that area for an hour here or an hour there. So, Maybe. The fries were actually that good and they have a "diablo" fries that I'd be down to try. I dunno, maybe. I included the picture of the sandwich lol. It really had like, ZERO meat flavor 😅 Oh, also they had the house lights at full freakin' brightness when we walked in, then halfway through the meal they turned them down. It was like 6:30 so it's not like it was early. The sun was already down. I audibly laughed when we walked in. Thank you for coming to my presentation about my experience at the congregation house.
Yaaa. I was excited to come here from past reviews but it was pretty disappointing. One bartender / server for a full room (30 to 40 people), 2 cooks - they just seemed overwhelmed, didn't know the menu & were impossible to get attention of. Definitely won't be coming back. Edit: Then I paid with cash and was stopped on my way out saying they don't accept it (even though they said yes at the bar) & asked me to pay with a card otherwise the server had to cover my bill. How does that make any sense?? Either way, most* definitely not coming back.
Congregation Ale House used to be one of the best breweries in the area. Belgian beers, incredible food and friendly staff made this place a pasadena staple. The congregation sign may still be out front, but this place could not be further from the congregation we once knew and loved. The food was awful. The prices were insane. Did I mention there was ONE server and ONE cook for 12-15 customers? Awful experience. The new ownership should be ashamed of themselves for ruining a Pasadena institution and still having the audacity to call it Congregation. We won’t be back.
At first glance, this spot seemed promising. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. When we walked in, there was no greeting or acknowledgment from staff even though an employee was visibly sitting on their phone. The menus were dirty and worn. As a fan of Hazy IPAs, I was excited to try one, but it was a letdown. It seemed like the keg was nearly empty. they poured whatever was left, and it tasted flat and off. The plate I was given had food stuck to it, which was really unappetizing. The food seems to be freezer food that you could make better at home. Most of the food we got tasted freezer burnt and dry. Overall, the food quality was very poor and overpriced. The staff didn’t seem invested in the customer experience. It felt like they didn’t really care, with some continuing to scroll through their phones even when guests were clearly present. To top it off, the women’s restroom was dirty and lacked toilet paper, seat covers, and paper towels. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Really unfortunate visit. there’s a little potential here, but the service, cleanliness, and food quality need serious attention. Won’t be coming back due to multiple issues with this place. There are plenty of more deserving business's around.
