This Chef loves this place for the Sunday brunch!! Always went before Covid hit. Have not been back post Covid. But I heard Sunday brunch is back. All you can eat for one price. Way too many selections for food during Brunch. I highly recommend this place since Le Bec Fin closed. Also the executive Chef here is from my old school; The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College.

Wow amazing food. Don’t be fooled by the appetizers or starters being smaller or the desserts are delightful. The main course the steak I had was superb and the Bordeaux was exceptional. $80 for a bottle or $21 a drink reasonable. We had a business dinner with a client. We all were staying at different hotels and we did not have any reservations but they took great care of us. Rittenhouse has several great restaurants. Bon appetit

My past few dining experiences at other restaurants in Philadelphia were so grossly substandard. I was so pleased with my dining experience at Lacroix, it reminded me of an era when I could call Philadelphia the 2nd best place in the States 🇺🇲 for good eats. The food was immensely fresh, the presentation was immaculate. Service was precise, and punched well above its weight. The restaurant is beautiful, and while not remodeled, it has retained a timeless look. If you are looking for a sure thing, Lacroix is your destination. Truly outstanding 👏

Review for Brunch only. The selection of food, quality of each dish, service and friendliness of the chef were impeccable. Nothing bad here at all. The meal felt exceptionally relaxed. The servers were attentive without being overbearing (a hard balance which was perfectly executed). The sizes of each dish were perfect for allowing a taste of everything. The staff were proactive in making sure every option was always available. The chef in the kitchen was great explaining it each of the roast dishes available and was very friendly. The quality of the coffee is a good way to judge a brunch, and the coffee was great. An exceptional experience. Note: Review does not apply to afternoon tea (my experience of afternoon tea here over a decade ago was poor, I still have yet to find a place outside of the UK that can provide even an average afternoon tea).

Lacroix is a beautiful restaurant located on the second floor of the Rittenhouse hotel. We had drinks and appetizers at Bar 210 within the restaurant one day as well as breakfast one morning in the main dining room during our weekend stay at the property. The food was great, and the service was excellent during both of our visits!

We visited Lacroix for our 2023 Thanksgiving dinner and had a fantastic time. It was a buffet format and while the price tag was high, the experience was definitely worth it. The tons of food options were all tasty, including turkey, shrimp, oysters, and more. Also the pork ribs were outstanding. Drinks were not included but the wine we ordered was exceptional. Overall we had a great Thanksgiving meal and would do it again for sure.

What a special meal! We ordered the chef’s tasting menu and it was exquisite. Every dish was artfully presented and tasty. The portions are small but by the end of the night we were full. The best part about the meal was the service. The staff was so polite and attentive, and made you feel special. The sommelier was clearly invested in his craft and it was a pleasure to hear him describe the wine pairings. I got a cocktail and it was also delicious. I think our favorite dish was the dessert, which was a chocolate sphere with a delicious custard and pistachio filling. The restaurant was quiet which was surprising for how good the food and service was. Worth the price!

I visited during restaurant week, and the experience was great. The menu was 3 courses (appetizer, entree, dessert), which were also accompanied by complimentary bread & butter that was delicious. The appetizer course was a great, light start to the meal. We ordered the risotto potatoes (8/10) and the fazzoletti (9/10). We ordered the strip steak (9/10) and lobster (8/10), which were also delicious. Lastly, for the dessert course we ordered the apple crumble (9/10) and the chocolate mousse (7/10). The apple crumble dessert was the most impressive dish - the taste of the Fall/Winter season was brought through in every bite. In addition to the restaurant week courses, we ordered the restaurants wagyu accompaniment ($80 additional total), which was composed of a wagyu tartare (9/10) and 2 amazing pieces of seared wagyu that melted the second you ate them. The service was also spectacular and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall, this was one of our favorite food experiences.

I had such a fantastic experience with my husband at La croix. From check in to seating until we get our coats back, the experience was phenomenal. We enjoyed their Sunday brunch. If you’re doing their Sunday brunch, you have to make an online reservation ahead of time. When you make the reservation, they will actually ask you to pay for the full amount of the buffet, plus an automatic 20% gratuity plus service fee and taxes. Cancellation should be made 72 hours prior to your reservation or there would be no refund. The buffet costs $95 per person. So far, of all the breakfast buffet that I’ve been to in the city, this is the only one that lets you order one entrée off the menu with no extra cost. While you wait for your entrée, you can go ahead and help yourself at their buffet. Do you have normal staples for breakfast like sausages, potatoes, mashed potatoes, bacon. But what I like the most is that they have a good variety of desserts and offers tons of different types of seafood. Everything taste divine. The service was fantastic. Our water glass never becomes empty because they always refill it. They’re very prompt in picking up dirty plates and replacing your used utensils. The coffee was so good. Try some raw oysters and try their crab salad too while you’re at it. I think the price of the buffet is great compared to the quality of food that they serve.

If Philadelphia is the destination, Lacroix is a must! Highly recommend the tasting menu for first time visitors. The food is delicious and the service has always been 5 stars for my husband and I.

This top notch restaurant inside a 5-star Rittenhouse Hotel is full of amazing experience. The servers are super attentive, very caring, and overall food taste matches the expectation - I especially LOVED the A5 Wagyu entree with sliced fresh black truffle along with fresh wasabi. It was cooked to a perfection and had a nice balance with wasabi, truffle slices and the sauce. One of the best wagyu I have had so far. Desserts were all wonderful too. I loved how each tasted and enjoyed every bite of them! 🥰 I also loved how private I felt throughout my dining experience. I had chef's selection with 6 courses including the dessert priced at $145/pp. The restaurant and hotel interiors are elegant and pleasing to look at. The hotel offers a valet parking for $32 (overnight at $60), but if you get your ticket validated you get $12 discount, FYI. I would certainly come back to this place again.

Amazing food! Each dish was delicious. Starting with creamy perfectly salted butter. The watercress strawberry salad was perfectly complemented by a creamy dressing. The soup was creamy and a bit heavy. However, the basted egg was a fabulous addition and the baguette was perfectly toasted to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! The salmon and sorrel was amazing. The salmon was moist and succulent with a perfectly crisp! The beetroot sandwiches was the most original flavor. The textures and smokiness was unforgettable. Overall one of the best meals of my travels and we will be returning for dinner during our short trip. Reservations made!

I bought my wife the chef's table experience. Hands down, this is probably one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had in my life, the food is amazing, Chef Eric and his crew are so talented and welcoming, the service is top notch, we left in food comma but content and excited beyond explaining... Wow! Thank you Chef Eric and Team 🙏🏻

By far, one of the very best breakfasts, a perfect experience in every aspect. The food was just amazing, from simple little things like croissants and artisanals butter, to the fantastic Lobster and Caviar to the hearty Benedict with Country Ham to the freshest Melon and Berry plate. That, to be honest, did not come to us as surprise, for both the executive chef Cichon to the Chef de Cuisine Eric Leveillee are among the most talented best chef in the North-East, proudly carrying on the glorious culinary tradition of Chef Jean-Marie Lacroix, the father-founder of the fine dining in Philly. The service is impeccable, the dining area is airy and spacious offering the magnificently calming views of the Rittenhouse Square, all of the above are the key secrets to make Lacroix's patrons highly content. We would recommend to opt for the a la carte menu, not that the restaurant's breakfast buffet is in any way inferior, but the former will allow you to order a highly prized Lobster and Caviar dish. Very affordable prices for an institution of that caliber and rank. We can't wait to sample Lacroix's Chef's Tasting Menu; hopefully very soon. 2 weeks later: totally amazing Chef Eric's Tasting Menu! 10 stars out of 5.

Brunch Extraordinaire! I came with my wife for an anniversary brunch. They were very accommodating. The staff is extremely well trained that certainly elevated our experience. They paid very close attention to finest details, such as I saw a staff member making neighboring table while placing glass not only he perfected placement of the silverware, he went through fine detail to check glass for any fingerprints as well. Apart from the service, food itself also deserves raging reviews of 5 stars. The chef accommodated my vegetarian request, and prepared dishes that were finger liking delicious. It was very peaceful fine dining experience in middle of the city. #VeggieAbroad

The brunch at Lacroix is the best I’ve ever been to, hands down. Not only is the quality of the food top notch, flawlessly executed, but you’re also immersed in their innovative combinations and presentations from a group of stellar front of house and back if house team. Cheap? No, but worth every penny....absolutely! I’ve been visiting Lacroix for brunch for 10+ years and have never once been disappointed

The food was absolutely amazing. Delicate and nuanced. Blown away! My only critique would be that the ribeye entree seemed out of place due to its sheer size and hefty flavor. Drinks were delicious and Jon our server was top-notch and a pleasure.

Lacroix offers a beautiful layout, featuring many different menus under the Lacroix name. I came for a Saturday breakfast and was pleasantly pleased by the upscale atmosphere and the foreign guests I sat next too. For breakfast, they start you off with a soft mini croissant with artisan butter that is flaky and perfectly prepared. I moved onto the Benedict from there, and the egg was perfect, the potatoes were crisp, and my coffee was strong. I had a french press at the table that served a blend from La Columbe. There is a beautiful view of Rittenhouse park that will allow you to see the full extent of the area and presents a nice view not too far or high from the pleasant area. It was hard to compare Lacroix to the Brunch at the Parc situated across the street in sight. Though I only visited for breakfast, I would say that the only reason I would choose one over the other would be for the atmosphere or how large of a menu my party needed (Lacroix’s breakfast menu is not too large). It was an excellent breakfast, and I would happily return.

EXQUISITE. Go for the brunch. This is and will be the absolute best brunch of your life. Choices for days. Every corner a new surprise. Culinary expertise that shows all around. Insane options and just wait for desert. They literally iron the table cloths. The service outstanding. Works around allergies impeccably without the guilt. (They give you a menu notes for you.) the presentation and the ambiance. For those who appreciate fine dining without the fussiness. Do this brunch. You will be thrilled.

We’ve been here for brunch several times. The most recent occasion was to celebrate my daughter getting through open-heart surgery. I’m not sure what else they could have done to make this day so super special for her. They were so wonderful to her and making her so excited by giving her the tour of all the food. She felt like a queen for sure. For us, it was amazing as always. The staff from the servers to the front desk to the chefs in the back… everybody is warm and friendly. As for the food, they never fail in that department. The brunch service is technically a buffet style, but this is totally next level. While you can certainly help yourself to some standards like bacon or eggs or bagels, there is a plethora of food to experiment with. There are items that I’m sure you have never had. It’s so much fun to try so many different things. And if you are a person who loves dessert like myself, there is an entire dessert section and a pastry chef devoted to customizing a dessert for you. What I mean by that is the most recent visit had a chef who was making Custom cannolis. You got to choose what kind of filling and toppings and all of that. Other times that I’ve been there it was someone making liquid nitrogen ice cream. Either way, you’re gonna have a blast. Don’t miss out on a truly unique experience.

My friend and I love their brunch buffet! The food is so delicious 😋. We love the new setup that you can go to the kitchen to select your entrees. As a wedding planner, I like the staff teamwork. Other service members check on us periodically besides our server. I could just go on and on, great atmosphere and experience overall 👌

WOW WOW WOW! This is by far the best brunch in the city. The food is amazing, you have so much to choose from! First time there the waiter will take you on a tour, yes a tour, of the area to show you the food. Its everything you can imagine! You even get to go in the kitchen for the meats and desserts! The meat station has a person in the kitchen carving your meat for you, its amazing! I will come back here with anytime!

My husband and I are huge fans of Lacroix superb food and exceptional service. However, I was disappointed last Saturday night with the limited menu we were given. In the past, on a Saturday night we were always offered a much different menu, a menu worthy of dinner at Lacroix on a Saturday night. If this is a new trend, when can I expect the wonderful menu I'm accustomed to? Christiane Heggan

Tasted a few small plates and appetizers and they were all exceptional. The chilled heart of palm soup and tomato carpaccio stood out, both unique in preparation, presentation and taste. The scallops were fantastic as well.

(Update: 2020) I loved Lacroix, but I think recently the taste of the food has gone a bit down. During my recent visit, I did the Chef's tasting. While the food was plated in an eye-catching manner, the taste was a bit lacking. I was especially displeased with the Pheasant, which was just plain dry. I would, however, extend my compliments to the pastry chef, because the desserts were on point. Hope you guys get better, and back to your previous quality. On a side note - The service is still one of the best in the city and the ambiance is fantastic as usual. (2 years ago) One of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. The food was sumptuous, and the service was mind blowing.

My wife and I went for dinner and had a great time. The food is tasty, the service is great, and the atmosphere is on point. The only downside is portion size, however quality of the food, along with rarity of the dishes on the menu makes Lacroix stand out.

The service was good along with the food, solid choice if you're in the city and looking for a place not that crowded for brunch.

This restaurant is located inside the Rittenhouse Hotel in downtown Philadelphia. The hotel itself is very fancy. You go on the elevator and go up to the floor of the restaurant and then you are greeted with a hostess. Everyone is very courteous and very kind. We did the Grand Prix menu with wine list. Each time the gentleman came by to pour a new glass of wine with each meal he gave us a short explanation of why and where it came from. The meal cost about $400 for two people. I was very full at the end of it because it was about a five course meal with moderate portions. It is very private and it feels very exclusive when you’re there. Did not care for the wine selections made for the Grand Prix menu. Chef signs a menu of the food you ate to take home as a souvenir. Also gave us small pieces of candies in a nice box to eat (it was ok). Presentation and service is first class.

2nd time. 1st time was about 4yrs ago. At that time my then 13 year old son said, "There are two restaurants that have made me smile, Per Se and LaCroix." So post-covid, with an older but wiser son in tow, we checked LaCroix out. Were they all that, post-covid with 4 years of maturation under the belt? I must say yes even with a new chef, LaCroix delivered. Culinary technique? Check. Creativity? Check. Bang for the buck? CHECK! We had dined at Gabriel Kreuther's in NYC a few days before. While GK's best surpassed Lacroix (smoked sauerkraut with sturgeon and aged duck breast. Best duck breast ever!), I must say LaCroix just slays it in terms of area under the curve. Every dish was very good to awesome. At $155 per 6 courses compared to $255 at GK, LaCroix wins. Mind you, GK is no slouch. With Manhattan pricing in mind, it was worthwhile. However. I must give the overall value to LaCroix. Mind you, I have not been to Parc. Vernick, etc. in Philly. However, I would be perfectly happy to go to LaCroix again and again.

This restaurant was average for me. The food was very good. However, I felt the servers were sub-par for a restaurant of this caliber. The service was very slow after we were seated. The female server brought us a bottle of wine we order that was spoiled. She said that it tasted fine to her. I have tasted thousands of bottles of wine and know good and bad wine. I do NOT like the fact that they open the bottle at another location than the table. Opening the wine is part of the process. When we walked into the restaurant there was a wait for anyone to appear. And when he did, it felt like they were not expecting anyone to show. I feel like this place is a want to be top Philly restaurant, but they won't spend the money to get it there. I would skip this place for the much better options in the square. They should walk down the Barkley Prime to see how it's done.

We ate here during our stay at the Rittenhouse and overall the restaurant was fine. When we came here for breakfast on Thanksgiving day, the service was incredibly slow which was really disappointing. It took forever for us to get our food and when it came out, it wasn’t even hot. When we came the next day, it was much faster and better. Omelettes, croissants, and egg dishes were overall good. Not much to complain about besides the slow service.

Pas bon.. (French for not good) ..We came here for my bday brunch. Got no bday love from staff..I guess I just expected a happy birthday. Food was just ok, I really hoped it would be better. Ran out of some stuff..Service was really good to a extent. The bad taste In my mouth is because we paid a lot of money for this brunch. Only to be hit with a $19 charge for a non alcoholic Bloody Mary that was overly spicy and only took a few sips of.. it would have been nice to be told it was not included and it is the same price with alcohol. Other tables were complaining at the end when they got their bills as well. Servers just said yes everyone complains we need to fix that.. Overall it was nice but would not go back.

Had the tasting menu, and the wine pairing tonight. I have to be totally honest here, the food at LaCroix is seriously overrated and shockingly disappointing. One of the courses is actually aloe vera, a gelatin substance which is paired with actual cystallized plants...that you eat. It's terrible. The restaurant should be embarrassed to serve it to their guests. We took 1 bite. Lobster course was chared and overcooked, served on actual twigs, and is 1 bite. A joke! It's ridiculous. A mouth satisfying delight though...was the Wagyu tartar NY strip course. Again, superb, exceptional actually, and the lamb is also quite tasty-it also came paired with a sausage that was actually raw inside-my date's sausage was cooked well done inside-same course, made no sense. I've eaten at many French restaurants, and the desserts are always to die for. I would give the desert course here a failing grade. It's a joke, and an absolute disappointment-nothing really French about it, at all, one of the 4 logs of dessert was an onion cream log-it was actually an embarrassment to French cuisine. Such a disappointing experience overall-for not only the extremely small portion sizes- different temperatures for the same people in the same meal-for most of what came to the table, but it's mostly fair-at best. Now, onto the wine pairings-which were exceptional. The restaurant somalias, and team, have paired the most perfect choices-the wine seriously outshines the food here, in every way, and comes to your table with a rich history lesson. The serving staff is exceptional and knowledgeable. I have had tasting menus with wine pairings at more exceptional restaurants (which actually were exceptional) than I can count...and this is the worst one I've ever had the displeasure to dine at. I would never go back here, unless it was to have the wonderful wine-but not the food. I gave it three stars just because the wine. I give the food here 2 stars.

P. Tran

The buffet selection was awesome. They give you a thorough tour of the place and even let you walk through the kitchen where more buffet serving stations are located. I went with a group of 13. Half of my group got food poisoning. They are oysters from the raw bar that day. I told the servers from our table how the oysters didn't tastef foul. He said he would go check on it. He walked in the direction of the oyster bar but didn't check at all. He came back with our check and didn't bother to address my complaint.

I had very disappointing experience here at lunch. I came to Lacroix for a fine-dining experience, expecting high quality service. Unfortunately it was subpar. I would expect more menu knowledge, a bartender on staff, and the table to be manicured and reset between each course (for example, soup spoon delivered before soup not after). Very little attention to detail. It was obvious our soup & salad were sitting in the window quite a while when the soup came out luke warm with soggy croutons. The food was so-so; not worth the price alone. The service really has to step it up a notch.

What the heck is this french place. I ordered the parisian gnocchi and I kid you not the plate had 6 gnocchi on the plate. Didn't we save them from speaking German? My plate should have had a pile of gnocchi like in any Italian restaurant would serve. It would cost an extra 50 cents. I had to eat really slow, so I didn't finish in one bite. The dish cost them $1 and cost me $30. Cancelled!

I was looking forward to Anniversary brunch here BUT very disappointed in food quality ! Eggs Benedict was nice but Petit Dejeuner was not to 5 stars quality (croissant was dry not buttery at all, shaved ham was dry, one boiled egg was cold - the only fresh item on my plate was half avocado). Place was clean and well sanitized. Overall OVER PRICE !! Plus having to pay $32 for a valet parking where I could just park my car myself. One great thing from my experience to this place was SERVICE. Everyone there was very friendly.

Terrible Experience - Do Not Recommend I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant. I paid over $600, expecting a nice celebration, but it turned into a complete waste of money and time. The food was absolutely terrible—lackluster, tasteless, and poorly prepared. For me ended up with food poisoning, and others complained of stomach pain afterward, which ruined our evening entirely. To make matters worse, the cleanliness was appalling. The toilets were disgusting and unhygienic (see attached photo), and the tables and floors were dirty and poorly maintained. It was an unpleasant environment that only added to our disappointment. I would strongly advise against dining here. Save your money, health, and your evening. Truly a terrible experience.

J
Jo Ann Massaro

Worst experience I've ever had. Food so disappointing. In fact terrible. Had to go through kitchen to get to slicing station and desserts. Very weird. $500 for 3 people. $90 tip added even though it was a buffet and the waiter removed 3 plates once. To top it off we were charged $7.00 because they OFFERED to take our coats. Save you money and go to the Continental diner.

J
J S

This is a sad review to leave, but this buffet brunch has become not worth it. They removed all of the Good items that they used to have on this buffet and replace it with a lot of hot starchy style potatoes, and inexpensive dishes unless you're planning on filling up on oysters and caviar, those are the only two things that are decent on the buffet. There is no longer crab or anything of that nature. especially the breakfast items are something to be ashamed of the breakfast items are similar to something you would find at a Howard Johnson breakfast. Some of the items seem to be pre-prepared such as chicken, liver moose, look like they had come from a frozen packaging from Cisco foods.
