Great cappuccino with airy foam, which imho tastes better than the micro foam which lends itself to latte art.

My favorite rich coffee. It makes that beautiful golden color as I stir in some cream and some cocoa with cinnamon.

Tried the Black Cow's namesake drink, would highly recommend!

Love the service and unique coffee options. The chai and chocolate drink options run on the sweeet side, but can be reduced! Thanks for all the great coffees :)

Jumbo Vanilla Chai tea is my go to at Black Cow better than Dunkin! They have great coffee and great service.

This is the second black cow location I’ve been too and it’s similarly cute and the coffee is always excellent.

The coffee ☕️ is always full of taste. All manner of beverage options hot or cold made right in front of you. Wonderful friendly staff in an inviting casual atmosphere. Plenty of cozy sitting space and Wi-Fi. Always at their best, really a treasure. The best of its kind.

Cute local coffee shop whether to get your drink to go or sit in. Staff is always friendly and they always have some interesting local art as well. Most importantly they open at 6am which is perfect to grab a coffee before the train.

E

What a delight! Great people, great coffee (I got vanilla lattes both days I was visiting, and yes I went back a second time). Loved their little bakery case and got some muffins for my boyfriend, who really loved them. I got the rugelach for myself, because I live in Nashville and you rarely find that here, and if you do it's not great. But theirs is UH-mazing. Highly recommend this place!

K
Kanan Ajmera

i have been coming here for decades, great coffee, best vibe and love the support for local artists.

Was in the mood for some coffee and pastry. So glad I found this cute little spot. The barista, Isabella, was super helpful and made such a great first impression. She suggested a muffin that had apple, carrot, coconut and raisins-omgee nice flavor, not too sweet and moist. She also made me an excellent cup of coffee and made sure to ask what milk I preferred. I love when baristas do that bc I always forget to tell them skim milk. Lol The atmosphere was cozy and homey. Very laid back and chill. I also liked that they had a wall to promote local businesses. Thank so much guys. I’ll be back when I visit Pleasantville again.

M
Mateo Pagani

I stumbled across this coffee shop on my way to CT. I was pleasantly - pun intended - surprised to find a cozy atmosphere with plenty of seating, friendly staff, and delicious (not too acidic) coffee. The baristas even went along with my stupid observation about coffee tasting better from an open container vs. a straw. Highly reccomended! Will be back.

M
Madeline Archibald

A great place to get a coffee on my way to work. I also like to buy their beans - they have a great selection! The baristas also offer sound advice regarding which bean to buy depending on what you want to use it for (cold brew, etc).

p

Definitely one of my top places for cold brew. First time here but it's very good. Plus it was close by sleepy hollow and I couldn't resist stopping by!

J

Always have the best experience at this shop! Great coffee and great service. And they've handled proper protocol and safety measures the past year as good as I've seen. 10/10.

Z
Zachary Falk

Archetypal independent coffee shop. Has perfected the iced dirty chai. Homemade baked goods are also delicious. Welcoming interior to enjoy a drink, study or meet with friends, although some sofa-chairs were disappointingly removed, likely to create more interior space.

M

Coffee AND pastries are fantastic. Super nice staff. As a newcomer to Pleasantville I also really appreciated their kind staff and filled community board of local happenings!

There’s a cantor of quiescence during dusky hours and a hum of the beatnik whilst the day is brooding. This hip coffee house has a clime that brings back youth and it’s reminiscence, it’s nostalgias and it’s long sundays paired with deep suspiros (sighs) and je ne sais quoi. We loom like moths at the moon of the white opal rooms and are madness. There is a breath like lilac like a throng of smoke hanging in the spaces of our houses and we remember all our longings, this is the same maths that brings us back to the Black Cow Coffee Company. A catacomb of teeth and feverish lumens caught in the threshing wires of these livid ghosts of all our rainfalls. We are forgetful when we parse the crucible as though hand-spun/ blind prophets drinking from paper cups on trial. They can write the liminal a river we crossed over it’s toothy smirk, as we had madness for companionship all the while our mirth sitting at tea houses with mad-hatters such as these cull the taste of cyanide witticism, a gathering of children of the lamb. The hallowed grounds (coffee) are a breath a fresh amrita!

A
Adam Fischer

Consistently top-tier coffee with service that goes above expectations. This is the template for the ‘local coffee experience.’ Few rivals in Westchester for quality beans.

A
Alexa White

Get the blended iced chai! It's blended together like a slushie and it's so sweet and creamy

M

Excellent coffee and a wonderful atmosphere with plenty of seating

H
Henry Ferlauto

Great cup of coffee, very friendly staff, oozes charm and no minimum (or surcharge) for using forms of non-cash payment. The owner obviously “gets it.” Wish we had a coffee shop like this in White Plains.

A

I love both locations of The Black Cow, the one in Croton Harmon and the one in Pleasantville. I always stop at one of them to get my daily dose of coffee with a bagel or a portuguese bread or a sourdough 🍞 with light cream cheese. I used to get the butter or chocolate 🥐 🥐 every goshdamn day but I had to chill with those. The butter was trying to plug my arteries. They have all the standard breakfast stuff and pastries. I also get my whole beans here to make coffee at home when I wake up early and the weekends. Just don't go here thinking they serve brunch. You'll be be playing yourself

C

One of my favorite places in the area. Coffee is great, staff is always nice and attentive, and a really convenient location. Would recommend to anyone.

My go-to stop for whole coffee beans (and a little indulgence with the "Shammy" each time). Excellent coffee, friendly staff, relaxed environment.

Great coffee, with a classic coffee shop atmosphere. They usually feature local artists on the walls, which paired with chill music creates a relaxed atmosphere.

Really good iced chai, highlt recommend it!!! Also we had the apple turnover which tasted so fresh even though it was before closing when we go it. Next time I want to try the coffee!! Definitely going back :))

Can't beat the coffee and atmosphere. Met my wife here. Its on the other side of the tracks from Starbucks. Give the local guy a chance and you'll be back. Back repeatedly. Got us a pound to go. Always friendly service!

Since discovering this gem, I can't seem to get away from it. The coffee is awesome, the people are awesome, the energy is awesome. i go out of my way to come here, spend money I don't really have - but it's such a nice place stop into before i get into my day

C
Christine

Great coffee, espresso, matcha. Their turmeric superfood late is tasty as well. Their chais are a bit too sweet for me. Baked goods are decent, but not baked fresh. Great rewards program! Newly renovated space as of 2025.

In the mood for a warm (or cold) cup of coffee/tea/chi/hot chocolate—run don’t walk to The Black Cow! Delicious beverages and tasty snacks—something for everyone. Owner Michele is a delight!

The best coffee spot I've been to in Westchester. Both locations are wonderful but I visit the Pleasantville location most, the staff, coffee, and environment is incredible. A+++

T

Absolutely wonderful little local coffee shop. I come here for the occasional morning java, and get all my coffee beans from here (I bring my own container to refill. My household is trying to reduce waste. The staff are consistently friendly, competent and efficient. I've never had a bad drink there (my favorite is a simple cappuccino). And they've also been a cozy little place to chill and talk, or get a little word done. So happy I live so close to them.

A
Andreas Gowdie

I can’t find anywhere that compares to this place. Great atmosphere, perfect coffee smell, amazing baristas, coffee made with love, and a fantastic place to work or relax. I don’t live in NY anymore, and I miss it everyday. The Black Cow is where I discovered my love for coffee, specifically a little lemon in my Cubano. I never knew I’d like lemon in my coffee so much.

J
Jennifer Zefi

My favorite place on earth! I have been coming here at least weekly for years. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and warm. The drinks are excellent every time - no matter who makes them. The atmosphere is quaint, quiet and welcoming. They have a great selection of beverages and snacks/baked goods, as well as merch and books available to borrow/trade for. They always hang new artwork from local artists on the walls. In a time when prices are skyrocketing, they've had to increase once or twice but they always let their costumers know ahead of time and their prices are still the best around! It doesn't get better than this.

A
Austin Perry

Amazing Wi-Fi, friendly folks, and quality drinks and baked goods. I got breakfast across the tracks at the Pleasantville Diner and stumbled across this place looking to get some work done. The owner (and her adorable baby!) were on site, as were some paintings done by one of the baristas. The vibe was so cozy and welcoming. I settled in and had such a nice time working that I invited my wife to join me! We had a lovely hour sipping our (reasonably priced!) beverages and sitting by the huge front window. My only wish would be for more seating, but it looks like that's coming soon! What a gem.

C

Best coffee shop in Westchester area. Excellent , home-brewed coffee. Nice, small shop with a cozy feel. Great selections of drinks and pastries too. Very nice customers who like to have a talk. Very nice owners too. I would be there every day if I lived in area. I mainly come up to Pleasantville to go to the Jacob Burns Theater.

The Black Cow is a wonderful coffee shop that I stopped at literally every afternoon on my commute home before the pandemic started, but you better believe I'll do it again once commuting starts up again. The staff is a group of very nice people who are always willing to answer questions or have a little conversation while they fill your order. They really care about the flavor of their coffee/espresso here and it's available to buy in bags so you can enjoy it at home as well. There's a small assortment of baked goods that you can try with your drink. Due to the pandemic they started an easy and convenient online service where you can order ahead and quickly drop in to pick it up; it seems like a pretty seamless service. Overall, the Black Cow is one of my favorite coffee shops in NY and the location is especially great if you need to get back on the Saw Mill right after (you get to pick your direction at a traffic light, not a tiny little on-ramp)! Don't sleep on The Shammy - it's a treat of an espresso drink for sure.

Best shop in the county. Great staff, quality coffee and ingredients. Good snacks too including goods from Balthazar. Every town should have an Indy coffee store. Not on the menu board - but ask for “Megan’s drink.” - dirty chai (green tea - 1 scoop; espresso - 2 shots; light foam; oat milk). If you like whole bean for home, I suggest Black Cow Blend, Mingus Java, or Mud (hard to find). Although seating can be limited (less than 10 tables), if you go in the morning, there are numerous outside tables from nearby restaurants that you can sit at and enjoy your caffeine.. New remodel. Place looks great.

My absolute favorite place to get coffee. Even though there are 8 coffee places within about 250 feet of each other near my office in the city, I'd rather leave home early so can get my coffee here. Plus staff is very friendly.

We’ve been customers of the Black Cow for over a decade and are taking a moment to applaud Michelle, the owner, for going above and behind today for us in a pinch in a large coffee order. The café has been beautifully redone inside — it feels even more fresh and welcoming. Whether you are looking work for a few hours, catch up with a friend, or sit outside with a dog after walking around town, the Black Cow in Pleasantville is the go-to coffee spot in the area. There are plenty of coffee varieties to choose from, and you can even grab beans to take home. Always a great local spot with even better people.

Rolling Suds Power Washing is based right here in Westchester, and whenever we’re in Pleasantville we always make a stop at The Black Cow Coffee Company. This Pleasantville coffee shop is truly a local gem, with the best fresh-brewed coffee, lattes, and espresso in Westchester County. The baristas are friendly, knowledgeable, and the service is consistently excellent. Whether you’re looking for high-quality coffee beans to take home, a cozy spot to enjoy a cappuccino, or just the best coffee in Pleasantville, The Black Cow Coffee Company delivers every time. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfect for relaxing, working, or meeting friends. Their pastries and baked goods pair perfectly with the coffee and make this the go-to Pleasantville café for breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up. If you’re searching for a Pleasantville coffee shop with great ambiance, delicious coffee, and a true community feel, The Black Cow Coffee Company is hands-down the best choice. Highly recommend this Westchester coffee shop to anyone who loves authentic, expertly crafted coffee.

Love the cafè in Phelps and came here for my first time, the smell alone was divine but the beverages themselves were even better!!

The only minor downside was the lack of outdoor seating, which would’ve been nice for enjoying my latte in the fresh air. Still, the indoor space was cozy enough to make up for it. Black Cow Coffee Company is a gem in Pleasantville, especially vibrant in fall and spring when the village feels extra charming. I highly recommend stopping by for a drink and some beans to take home. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars for its excellent coffee and friendly atmosphere.

It’s the perfect local coffeeshop. We’ve gotten quite familiar with them due to renovating our kitchen😅so thank goodness for not only their coffee/chai but their excellent baked goods (danishes and muffins are our favorites). There is often a line especially on weekends but it moves promptly and besides it is a nice friendly atmosphere so no complaints about waiting. So much better buying local than the chain *ahem* down the street

Visited this cafe 3-4 times in the last year and have loved their coffee and bakery items every time. Most recently had their Mocha with Oat milk and brownies. My mocha got over sooner than I wanted :), will come back here for more!

Their mocha was delicious. Also, I am a sucker for coffee beans. If I didn't just buy 2 bags from somewhere else I would have grabbed some here. They have the beans separated into containers labeled with roast dates, ready to fill the paper bags for your next at-home coffee adventure.

Stopped in for a quick cup of coffee to go and it was super good! It’s a cute little shop with some of their merch and beans to buy. The service was good and the guy complimented my earrings which made me feel so good! I’d definitely come back :)

Such a quaint, creative coffee shop that has a couple of tables for sitting and drinking and is packed on farmer’s market Saturdays. Reminds me of a coffee shop you’d see in a college town. Their Black Cow coffee is far and away the winner - like a frothy hot cocoa with espresso and a dollop of whipped cream. Added a sprinkling of cinnamon and cacao powder and it was divine! Recommend telling them your to-stay and making sure they serve your drink in a ceramic mug for ultimate relaxation (and plastic-saving too!) Coming back here on a quieter Sunday morning with a deck of cards and another Black Cow. 5 stars!!!!

A comfy coffee spot in Pleasantville that’s very homey. I had the matcha latte and croissant which was very good. I really enjoyed the ambiance here, with pastries and products from local businesses on display. You can tell it’s a community hub, with a consistent line throughout the day and plenty of flyers on their bulletin board. It’s also a nice location right across the street from the farmers market. I’ll definitely return again to try their chai latte (which appeared to be a really popular order)!

Only place around that has an eggnog latte. Starbucks bagged them this year. No need to go there

K
Krish Srikant

Cosy place, quiet and nice soft music to keep you going. Coffee's are quite good, liked the croissant especially, no warming options for the snacks though. And for those who're parking, watch the meter, cos the officer on duty thereabouts is a hawk and won't let even a minute slide! ;)

A

Love the mismash of light sources in this cafe- tungsten lights, strings of fairy LEDS, and theatre strips cast a golden glow noticeable even on the sunniest of days. The namesake black cow is super sweet, especially with the whipped cream, but if you're into mochas, this is pretty similar. There aren't many tables here and it fills up quickly-the smaller tables have enough room for a laptop but you might be cramped for space if you want to fit notebooks or physical documents as well. Prepare your tush for wooden/hard backed chairs if you plan on staying for a while. Parking lot is a block away and free on Sundays. Music volume is good; walls are the sandiest of tans and feature artwork and paintings if you want to give yourself a study break.

m

Coffee not as good as servers, baristas. Need much more variety in coffee, same sourcing gets tired. New manager has place cleaner and more accessible. For independent shops top notch.

Cosy/tiny spot with lots of personality and some excellent espresso drinks. The Black Cow signature coffee is tasty if you like a sweet twist to your java.

The quality of the coffee and the food was very good. Too bad customer service didn't match that. My receipt says Rachel A. Stopped here to grab some coffee and items for a morning meeting and she did not seem to happy or thrilled at all. I felt like I was bothering by placing my order. Kind of wanted to leave but needed to make this meeting on time. Probably not coming back.

So… I’m really heartbroken to write this review but I am sadden by how I was treated this morning. I am a Pace University student and I asked if they would honor the discount without my physical ID and she rudely responded and rolled her eyes at me saying she needed a physical ID. I understand the policy and would have respected it if she responded kindly. Really disheartened as I have loved the Black Cow and most of academic career was spent studying there. Will not return.

I love trying and supporting local coffee shops, so I was hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, the service felt dismissive, and the coffee was bitter and watered down. Disappointed, especially as a first-time visitor.

Ariel

I had their brewed coffee yesterday and liked it a lot. Then I came today for another cup. Today the brewed coffee was tasteless. It tastes like dirty water and ended up throwing it away. I was told that they brew different coffee each day. This is really stupid.

E
Eva & Bart Jansen-Dirix

We bought an Americano and a coffee of the day. Both tasted like fungus, a clear indication that that this store does not clean the machinery orderly and/or often enough.

P
Pam

Unfortunately the coffee is like water and by 11:30 they were sold out of most baked goods. No microwave so they can't warm a scone, no jelly or jam for anything.

N
Naomi Delphin

Too much milk in the cappuccino. Woman barista quite rude. Did not speak to patrons correctly. Man working was polite.
