This place is a bit out of the way, and ain’t tryna be fancy. But what it is is great food at a reasonable price with great waitstaff and HUGE portions! Our breakfast burritos took up a whole platter. Not a plate. A platter. We both took half back to the condo. Don’t forget to ask for the spicy green salsa!

Best Mexican food my husband has had since he left Houston 40 years ago. Just what he wanted. (The Mexican we get in central Illinois just isn’t quite the real deal.)The Monday special was the perfect lunch! Don’t be put off by the exterior (not the blue building pictured above. That’s across the street.) It’s a definite gem and we will go back!

I found El Papa's through a TripAdvisor search this morning. I was looking for something different for breakfast. Looking at the menu I couldn't decide what I wanted and asked about the Contodo, the waitress assured me it was good. It wasn't good...it was DELICIOUS as it was massive. I couldn't finish it all but I was glad I tried it. Staff was friendly, very prompt. Seemed like they have regular patrons that come there for breakfast and conversation which I loved listening to. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast and will come back the next time I vacation in SPI.

We were hear Easter Monday...They bring chips n salsa to your table!! The portions are amazing and the service is good! We ordered the big fried shrimp platter and a steak quesadilla to share...steak tacos, 2 bacon cheeseburgers, fish tacos and chicken fried chicken. Everything was correct and served hot. No long wait time. First time trying and pleasantly surprised. Will def be back again n highly recommended!

Excellent food—very reasonably priced. Perfect if you’re going to or coming back from SPI and looking for a more local flavor and attitude. Just down the road from the bridge in the quiet section of Port Isabel. I especially enjoyed the veggie omelet with cheese; beans, and hash browns. Very friendly staff, and a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with plenty of tables and seating. A wide selection of breakfast and lunch dishes—both American and Mexican favorites. Daily specials too. The only reason I gave a four star and not a five is that the building and interior could use some updating - but otherwise 5 stars.

Pretty good food. Huge tacos. The only reason it gets 4 starts instead of 5? They could put a little more food in the tacos. The picture is of the taco next to an Iphone 8+

Some food items were sketchy? It tasted good but the texture was off. Good service and Great atmosphere.

I would say the food was okay, especially the flour tortillas, which were nice and soft. The only thing I didn't like was that they brought the food AN HOUR LATE. Just as I was about to cancel, they arrived with the food, and we had to eat quickly because I had an appointment. That was very unpleasant.
