That’s how fish & chips should be done! Light, seasoned batter, fresh flakey fish, good sized portions at a value price. I have a Caribbean & Bronx NY background and know fried fish. Since I live near P.Jervis I’ve tried various restaurants and do not like the common local way here of fish fried in a heavy, tempura like batter where the fish can fall right out of it’s bland (barely a dash of salt), oil soaked coating. -It’s disappointing when you want that fish & chip itch satisfied. Thus far this is the best spot to scratch that fish itch. I ordered take out, then remembered you MUST eat fried fish+fries immediately or it will lose its crispy goodness by the time you get elsewhere. It’s a pleasant little spot to eat and listen/watch some throw back R&B videos on the overhead flatscreen. Limited space, a few booths, so if they’re taken just enjoy in your car. It’s a new spot, so humble any high expectations beyond what I mentioned. Port Jervis needs places like this for good takeout variety other than the usual pizza, Chinese food, & Ben’s Fresh kind of takeout places. Enjoy!

OMG THIS FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I loved the Cod and the sides were amazing. I usually get the Mac N Cheese and Collards which are so good that I order two of each. The best dish however is the whiting. Seasoned to perfection. I make it a habit to go every Tuesday and Friday because I want this. place to stay around in Port Jerv.

Must try this gem! We had the whiting, cod and shrimp! Everything was cooked to perfection and the people were sweet and kind! Everything tasted fresh and delicious! 10/10 across the board. ❤️

It is my belief that “hole in the wall” is another term for “quality restaurant” and this “hole in the wall” validates my opinions. Don’t be turned away by the dmv aesthetic as the food cooked up behind this facade is heavenly. 100% recommend.

I had not had a chance to visit PJ Fish & Chips, but today the stars aligned and it happened. This is the food my southern father spoke wistfully about. The food is so flavorful and made with love that I am just in awe. The staff were kind & warm...just an absolute perfect experience.

Came in right before closing and ordered three different fish and chips.The haddock was delicious as well as the whiting and the cod. Couldn’t go wrong! Super friendly service and food came out quick and hot! Will definitely come back!

Absolutely excellent delicious food. The husband and wife owners were very pleasant and sweet. We just happened upon the restaurant and glad we did. We had Cod, Shrimp and amazing potato salad. Nothing was greasy and you can tell the home make everything adding their traditional flair.

Have been a few times now, I’ve had cod, catfish and chips. The fish has been very good, the cod is huge chunky and moist, catfish with hot sauce was excellent. The fries are large cut compared to traditional fast food, golden brown and fluffy potatoes. They even give you a coupon that you open on your next visit for discounts or free food. Even win fish and chips once a week for a year. Last time out I won a fish sandwich. Headed out today for lunch there with another coupon, maybe free lunch. The service is great and employees easy to talk with. It’s our go to for affordable lunch and dinner.

Just had the most amazing seafood boil! Tray was phenomenal! He was a one man show. Took our order, cooked the meal and cleaned up. We truly enjoyed our experience and Tray made it amazing. He was extremely professional, pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Will definitely be back!

It’s rare to find customer service like that nowadays, and I can’t say enough good things about this place—but I’ll try! I’m from Harlem, so fish and chips is my jam—culturally and spiritually—and this meal felt like a little walk back home. I truly appreciate Denise and her team for serving up such a wonderful meal on a Sunday evening. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend everyone give this place a try too!

The bun was super soft and fresh and they provided plenty of delicious tartar sauce. I highly recommend this place -- sorry I didn't take a pic of the AMAZING sandwich! The owner/chef is very friendly and accommodating, this is a great place to get take-out, or eat in for lunch or dinner.

UPDATE- well so much for this place. Apparently they are permanently closed. Too many restaurants I stop at while traveling I go back to only to find they closed down. Ugh I ate here last year but never posted a review. Fish and chips restaurants are a rarity, so I was excited to find this place and try them. I'm overdue to go back. The fish was lightly breaded and made fresh and from what I remember, the fish itself was good. Writing this review because I came across a fish and chips restaurant in Danbury CT and am regretting the $18 I spent on what I believe was terrible fish. I don't believe you'll be paying for regret at Port Jervis Fish & Chips.

This fish and chips spot was fantastic! The fish was perfectly flaky, and the chips were golden and crispy. Every bite was delicious, making for a truly satisfying meal. I highly recommend it if you're craving classic, well-made fish and chips. You won't be disappointed!

First of all, the hospitality is impressive, clean, and hygienic, and the delicious aroma makes people's appetites increase. So I give it 4 stars. The beverages can be diversified, not limited to a small can, and large bottles of beverages can be considered.

Out of the sea food options are NOT IT! Mac n cheese is so bland and not cheesy at all. The hot wings were fried so hard the meat is chewy and just disgusting. This was the worst fish I've ever had in my life. It smelt rotten, there was NO seasoning on anything, barely even breaded, and I'm almost sure it was undercooked. They clearly used old oil to fry fish that had been sitting out all morning. It was inedible. To top it off the fries had also been fried in old oil with no salt so those were terrible as well. If I wasn't in a rush today I would have requested a refund. Buyer beware!
