Been a here a number of times. The food is good, the staff is friendly, and it’s really cute inside.
I like this place. Great for comfort food, it’s usually pretty quiet and the staff is very nice. Their menu is pretty wide. I loved their seafood soup. It was massive and tasty.
This is one of my favorite restaurants ever. It’s run by the nicest people and has a mile-long menu. Incredible everything. Homey, authentic food that isn’t fancy - no frills here - and every bite is perfect. I may be biased because it’s been one of the only affordable options in the neighborhood for quite some time…so I’ve gone there A LOT. I told them that I’m moving out of the city and asked for their red sauce recipe (it’s smoky and complex and zingy and nothing compares) — and they not only gave me the recipe, but also a bag of one of each of the five varieties of chiles they use to make it so I can buy the ingredients in the future and know I’ve got the right thing. Unbelievably kind and lovely people here. Support them!!!!! It’s definitely not ultra cheap food but the portion sizes are really generous (the mole would easily feed two) and GOOD. Incredible tortas. They have tamales all the time. Elotes! And when you eat in, usually they give you the best chips and bean dip with queso fresco on the house, alongside the salsas.
Went here after an eagles game one night. Hungry and our way home in the cold stumbled upon this gem. There was no wait as it was a little late on a Sunday and we were immediately helped. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The mango margaritas were without a doubt the freshest mango tasting Margs we ever had and I order that drink everywhere. Food was authentic Mexican and incredible. Also the bill ended up being pretty cheap even after tip. Highly recommend this place for the drinks food and service.
Ordered takeout from this restaurant, and I was immediately blown away by the flavor, portion size, and price compared to the established, popular Mexican restaurants in Fishtown/Northern Liberties. The food tastes authentic especially their red, smokey sauce and fresh, green hot sauce. Their cabeza burrito is not mostly rice like other restaurants. The cabeza meat is fatty and flavorful, and there was plenty of meat inside of the burrito. The side salad might need some sprucing up, but the main food and their elotes were something to remember. Not much to say about the tamales since I'm not a big fan of them. I was surprised to see almost no one dining in on Sunday afternoon, but it might've been because the Eagles game was on.
Delicious, real Mexican food. One of my favorites, definite favorite of northern Philly. I get the chicken tacos, chicken sopes (best I’ve had!), elote, soups… all amazing. Very very nice service. I would go here any day! And I do! The chicken is out of this world delicious. Great fresh salsas as well.
Maybe a bit of a funny thing to highlight, but the fruit salad I got here was the highest quality and most generous fruit salad I have EVER gotten from a restaurant in my life. It was packed to the brim and so fresh. I feel like I’m in a better mood just from having eaten it. The enchiladas are also really good I’ve gotten them numerous times. I just had to talk about the fruit salad too… I already want another one.
While from the outside it might not look like much, inside it hides a beautiful atmosphere, personnel is great and food is even better! It became one of my favorite spots to go to when I visit my bf. Simply awesome!!!
It was my first visit and I can say right away that I am definitely coming back! The service is great and food is awesome! I had a Steak Burrito, while my girlfriend had Steak, Chicken and Pork Tacos. The steak was flavorful and not overcooked. The tacos were excellent, especially the pork taco with pineapple! There is plenty of seating for friends and family to dine. While we were there we saw a lot of "to go" orders being picked up.
Is their food good? Yes. Are the employees friendly? Yes. Is the atmosphere good? Yes. So why on earth am I giving this place 3 stars? One word: greed. I haven't been here for a while, but I order the same thing every time. It used to come to just under $20, which was already overpriced but worth it on occasion. This time I went, ordered the same thing, and it came to JUST UNDER $22. What?? No sides. No drinks. No extras. One entree. $22. I ordered to go. They had the audacity to hand me a receipt that suggested a 15% tip. Let me get this straight--you want me to pay over $25 for ONE MEAL that I'm going to eat at home, on my couch, in my pajamas, alone, with a plastic fork, while watching Netflix? And for that price I would expect there to be leftovers. But alas, I finished eating and there were only a few bites left. Certainly not enough for a second meal. Last time I came I had enough leftovers for another full meal, so I suspect they reduced portions in addition to raising prices. Even in 2026 there's still places (food trucks, Jersey Mike's, Wawa) where you can get a full meal for $8-$11. So no, I'm not paying $22 for a meal that's 80% tortillas (dirt cheap) and salsa (also cheap) with a sprinkle of meat, cheese, and sour cream on top. And then the restaurants shout-- But we have overhead that food trucks don't have!--well you also have many more employees working and much higher potential of customer volume. So find another way to make more money. This review applies to this place and also to many others recently. These restaurants need to find another way to make more money (drum up new business with a coupon for example--the inside was almost completely empty when I went, during dinner hours) rather than alienating their already-loyal customers who will lose their loyalty once they see the receipt. This is the end of my rant.
The food isn’t good enough to be $20 for a burrito, $18 for a taco salad. It’s a ripoff. Best red salsa in the city though.
Food has always been good but recently they raised the prices on their platters and cut the amount you get in half. They give you the smallest scoop of rice and beans. I will not be returning.
Last night I dropped $32 here for a beer, two fish tostadas, and a tamale. The beer was good. The service was excellent. The food was terrible. I couldn't finish the extraordinarily dry tamale, rubbery on the outside and crumbly on the inside, but did manage to choke down the rubbery, salty chunks of tilapia in the tostadas. The restaurant provided, in ramekins, generous portions of brightly colored and truly awful red and green sauces I could only interpret as ill-conceived mixtures of canned products. Excellent service can't make up for the quality of the food here. Plenty of Mexican restaurants in Philly offer far better fare. Take your money there.
Their $12 meal specials are NOT meals. Ridiculously small portions (rice and beans come in tiny salsa containers, to give you an idea of how little food they give) that are not advertised as such. Everything was kid sized. They should make it clear to customers that buying the $12 deal means getting a mini-meal. I understand reducing your portion size for meal deals, but come on.. 2 bites of rice?? Laughable.
⸻ This place is a joke. I would never recommend it to anyone, especially if you’re trying to celebrate with more than 4 people. We went for a birthday and the staff had an attitude because we didn’t have a reservation—even though the restaurant was completely EMPTY. Instead of welcoming customers, they acted like we were a problem. No wonder the place was dead. Terrible attitude, terrible customer service. Don’t waste your time here.
The waitress I had here was very nice and attentive, no problems there. I ordered a chicken chimichanga with no lettuce or anything on the side. It came out quickly, with the lettuce etc that I asked to be excluded. I only got through half the chimichanga because it was probably the worst I've ever had. It was incredibly bland, like no seasoning or taste at all. Also, it was soggy. The pulled chicken was *wet* and the tortilla which was supposed to be crispy was absolutely soggy. When I went to pay, the check comes out with an extra "service" charge and I couldn't get a straight answer if that was like the tip, or something else. I got a lemonade, too, which was seriously watered down. Do not recommend.
