We were looking for a quick meal and this place sparked our interest, I had the fajita quesadilla and my girlfriend had a burrito. The quesadilla was more of a taco filled with chicken/cheese/veggies. It was good but needed to be grilled and cut. Flavor of all the food was great. Salsa was excellent. Service was efficient and correct. Will go back!!

Best Mexican restaurant in Rochester! This is by far the best Mexican restaurant around. We've tried many and nothing compares to Mecate! We've dined in and ordered take out a few times and every time it's been absolutely delicious! The steak & chicken fajitas are our favorite! The drinks and desserts are just as good! The portion sizes and prices are very good. Service has always been great! We can't recommend this place enough!

All about Us

Our server Alan was the absolute best server in the world!!! He was so attentive and nice!! He never rushed us and hopefully his tip reflected his service!! I highly recommend dining here!! The bartender was amazing as well! The whole environment was great and everything was clean and tidy. Thank you all so very much for your great service. I feel I needed to mention Alan was also training gary tonight and still did great job!!! I will definitely be returning with friends.

Amazing food, drinks, and service. Everyone was friendly. All the food was outstanding!! We will absolutely go back, and can't wait. Birria tacos were super flavorful. The burrito fontera was huge and bursting with flavor. Get there when you can

I'm from Arizona and in Arizona it would be a 1 start but for New York it's one of the best I have had. They call it salsa but it's really "hot" sauce. Ground beef and steak was over cooked and dry. Tacos where the best part.

The food taste was great, the ambience was soothing. We ordered fried ice cream and thought we could get just one small scoop but indeed we got a really big scoop and easily 2-3 people could dig in! Overall it was really great experiece and we will definitely visit this place again!

Happened to be passing through Rochester on Cinco de Mayo. We felt based on the reviews that Mecate Mexican restaurant would be a good stop. We arrived right as the clock struck 5p and still had a 45 minute wait. The server was a young man who was very awkward. Apart from that, the food was OK, I guess it’s what passes for Mexican in upstate NY.

Been here several times food is always good, service the last couple times hasn't been good. Server forgot to bring our drink order, never came back until our meal was there so we didn't bother reordering them. Then took forever after the table was cleared to bring the check and cash out, still had no clue about the drinks.

I was happy to have an authentic Mexican place in Henrietta but I was less than thrilled with the birrira tacos. The rice was not great either. My friend got the chicken quesadilla and it was watery. Hard to explain but it was like the chicken had too much liquid on it and it was in the quesadilla. The margaritas were good. I probably won’t be back.

I have been coming here since they opened....The food is excellent here and has been since day one. Unfortunately, their service has declined and has become TERRIBLE. The most recent visit over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend was the last straw. The restaurant only had 4 occupied booths - it was not busy. Once our order was delivered, our server never came back. My husband had to get up TWICE to find someone to refill our drinks and then get napkins. Then finally, he got up again to get the bill and cash out because no one ever came back to us. We left a token tip and it did not seem to matter to them. No questions or apologies. It's a shame, but I'm done going here as I won't continue to support this level of service.

Server tried to steal a tip! Everything we perfect untill our separate bills came. I paid with a credit card and my friend was paying with cash. He didn't bring her the change, so she asked for it and he smirked. Did he really think he was going to get a $10 tip on a $14 bill? When he brought her change, he gave her a $10 bill. She then asked him to break it and he brought 2 $5s. Then I took a five and walked up to him and asked for ones. Well! You would have thought I had 6 eyes! He looked me up and down and made the worst face at me. He then stated that he was very busy and it would be 5-10 minutes. What a perk! I'll never come back. Lovn Cup has GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SEEVICE!

This review is for the location in Albion,ny .service here was absolutely horrible for a table of 6, we were told the wait was 30 minutes. we ended up waiting for over an hour. But a group of 5 came after us and were seated right away, i believe this was because it was the hostesses mother. Then when we were seated we had to sit in separate booths of 3 and 3. So not very accommodating. The food was ok, I ordered the chimichanga but there was not enough cheese on it and the beans had no flavor, the portion size of the rice and beans was very small compared to other restaurants we have visited.I also was disappointing as the adult food came out and the children’s food of just a side of fries and chicken fingers and fries came out about 10 minutes later. So I didn’t care for that at all after waiting for such a long time. The waitress took a long time to even come back to ask for drink refills. Was not even asked if we wanted dessert just was given the check. So i would say 1 star. I would recommend getting some type of seating of at least a bench or two outside to sit while your asked to wait.
