I happened upon Bambu on a whim when a restaurant I wanted to dine at was closed. And I gotta say that there was a silver lining to that situation as I really enjoyed eating at Bambu. We arrived at opening time, was immediately able to grab a seat and our server was with us immediately. He was very pleasant and had no issues sharing the entire menu with us and giving us recommendations. We chose seaweed salad, Thai basil noodles with shrimp, Wonton Egg noodle soup, and rounding it off with mango sticky rice. Food was quick to arrive, brought to us by Rosie the robot. Usually I am skeptical of how great you can be with a big menu serving pan Asian cuisine but what we got was really good. The Thai basil noodles were soft, flavorful, and delicious as was the wonton egg noodle soup. Both dishes had plenty of veggies, shrimp, and wontons. Both dishes were about what you would expect in size. I was very impressed with the broth of my soup, better than the majority of places I've tried. The dessert was wonderful, with that gooey sugary sweetness, served and made warm with the condensed milk and topped off with sweet mango. Overall a really positive experience. Pricing was as you would expect, easily a 40-60 meal between two people. Would definitely be willing to return!
I go here frequently with my coworkers and family, and it never disappoints! The servers are always so kind and attentive, the gluten free options are phenomenal, and the music gently played throughout the restaurant is timeless. I always recommend this place!
went here for the first time a couple days ago, they got hit with a dinner rush and as a result we waited a lot longer than usual (longer than the other patrons), once we got our sushi, it was great. and the lovely man running the front discounted our total as an apology for the wait!! great guy and great restaurant to support. him doing that solidified my choice to return to this restaurant. they care about their customers! thanks Bambu! :)
Bambu Kitchen and Sushi is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff makes you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is clean, modern, and comfortable, perfect for a casual meal or a relaxed night out. Fresh sushi, portions are generous and prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. I always leave satisfied and looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend Bambu Kitchen and Sushi to anyone looking for excellent sushi and Asian cuisine in Oakdale, MN.
Bambu Kitchen and Sushi is a true gem in Oakdale. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their sushi rolls, oyster are always fresh. The menu offers a great balance of classic favorites and unique options, so there’s something for everyone. Excellent place to dine in, strongly recommended.
Bambu is absolutely amazing! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every bite was delicious, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. The staff was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back — highly recommend Bambu to anyone looking for great food and a great vibe!
I had a good experience. I went there three different times, and I had I wonderful time each time. Jeff was a great server, he was very friendly and made me feel welcomed. The robot that served us our food was really cool. The food was also really good, I had sesame seed chicken with a spice level of ten.
This restaurant is an absolute gem! If you're looking for the best gluten-free sesame chicken and broccoli, this is the place. The sauce is so flavorful, and the chicken is perfectly cooked. The fried rice is also incredible, not greasy at all, just delicious. And you absolutely cannot leave without trying the Vietnamese coffee; it's so yummy and the perfect way to finish the meal. Highly recommend this spot for anyone, especially those needing gluten-free options!
Not gonna lie, walked in the door and felt the bass from the sound system pumping solid gold 80s classics and I was hooked! They have a freaking robot waiter too! Had the sushi and was happy to see gluten free options across the menu. The staff recommended the fried ice cream for my kid and it was awesome! Highly recommend for Celiac and Gluten free folks, and for a great atmosphere.
Fantastic service and the food was amazing! We got the drunken mussels and shrimp tempura to start. The mussels were by far the star! The sauce they bring them out with, I wish I had some bread to soak it up! The sushi was fantastic. The rolls were the red scorpion and the salmon skin roll. Very good flavors! Finally we had the hamachi and salmon belly nigiri, and Toro sashimi. A-mazing! No fishy flavor, buttery and could taste each fish was of great quality. Definitely a sushi place being slept on! The rest of the menu looked fantastic including Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese food and what other people ordered smelt delicious! Will definitely be back!
This is such a fun and delicious place to visit right off of 694 in Oakdale, MN. I have had many different offerings here and I have not been disappointed. My son generally gets the Pork or Chicken Lo Mein when we do our take-outs on Friday nights. He likes to go in though because they always use the robot to bring our food (see picture). The servers and cooks are so helpful, nice, and personable! I have tried and enjoyed the Sesame Chicken, the Vietnamese Noodle Salad, the Chicken Fried Rice, and many different sushi options. We had the lucky privilege to have some toro sushi and it was melt in your mouth good! The sushi spread we ordered tasted as good as it looked (see pictures). We will definite visit again!
Right as you enter, you're greeted with a free-standing water fall fountain. We were seated almost immediately. We were here during lunch. Food quality: the spring rolls and egg rolls were good! The spring rolls were made fresh. The egg rolls weren't hard to chew, and the meats inside were just the right amount with a slight taste of a sweet ingredient. The sushi rolls were well made and good for the price. The Bùn (Vietnamese Noodle Salad) with chicken was very delicious. The noodles were soft and mixed well with the greens and chicken. This is a great asian restaurant as it looks like it's the only one in the area. Would recommend if you're in the area.
Honestly, Bambu is just”OK”… or 3 stars. The food isn’t bad. Service is friendly, but a bit slow… and armor is pretty standard “80s Chinese restaurant “ vibe. I am giving them 4 stars because they have a menu that clearly marks vegan options… and they have a HUGE selection! Portions are generous, too. If you are craving vegan Thai, Chinese? Or Japanese food and do not experience be blown away with flavor, I would recommend.
We stopped at Bambu for a bit of sushi while we waited for our turtle to get some love at the nearby Homey Gnome vet clinic. The atmosphere is friendly and lively, the music loud and energetic. The server (owner?) was a friendly man, seating us quickly and drumming up conversation throughout the ordering process. The food was pretty good, well-presented and high quality. Oddly, we didn't get fortune cookies, though we saw that others did. Maybe because we didn't order a "real" dinner? There was a bit of a change in attitude when the guy realized we were only ordering sushi (though the order still came out to about $60).
The Vietnamese egg rolls are delicious! The tempura vegetables didn’t come to the table hot, but the flavor was good. The food was flavorful and made with fresh ingredients. Good service, including a surprise visit from a serving robot! Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of free parking within the strip mall area.
The menu had a vast selection of meal choices. I wasn't impressed with my stir- fry with chicken. It didn't have much taste. I had to add a great deal of soy sauce to give it flavor. We also had egg rolls which I only had a couple bites. Again, no flavor.
Came for lunch . My first time here. First impressions- lovely decorations . They have a very extensive menu. I ordered a large both of Pho (special) - broth was good, garnishes were fresh: plenty of meat and noodles. A large bowl is $16, a little more than the other similar restaurants serving pho near the area. Service experience and my expectations: I was seated right away, however a robot brought me my soup - the server never came to serve me the soup - I had to stand up out of my set and serve myself a hot bowl of soup. Then was expected to know how the robot works to press a button to return the robot to the kitchen. Other than seating me, No server came back at anytime after- to ask me how my meal was or if I needed anything else. I don’t like having to interface with the robot. And I don’t like when I had to get a hot bowl of soup from the robot. Maybe I am old school- but when I come into a restaurant I do expect to be served unless if I go to a buffet that you know you serve yourself. Even at a buffet, you have a Server checking in with you. At the hotpot places , a robot brings food to your table but a server removes the food and serves it to you. Appears to be a lot of menu choices , but because of the lack of human service and having to interface with the robot- Not sure if I will be back.
We recently dined-in, and left after an hour having never received our food. There were four tables dining in: Parties of 2, 4, 8, and our party of 3. We only saw one table get food during this time. There were multiple door dash and takeout orders as well, several of whom gave up and left without their food. In one hour in the restaurant, we were not greeted. We sat ourselves, and waited for someone to come to our table for about 10 minutes. He came back to take our order about 10 minutes later, when we had to again ask for water. 40 minutes later, and we left without receiving our food and without any other interactions with the staff. Staff were almost entirely absent from the dining area. Someone did tell the party of 8 that they would not be able to serve them in time for them to get food before their movie (after they had been sitting there for about half an hour). There was no other acknowledgement from staff to any of the tables, and oddly there was NO food being brought out from the kitchen, other than one table who slowly received their order via the robot. So no idea what the staff were doing, if they were neither preparing food nor interacting with customers. It feels as though they've shifted to running with a skeleton crew, rather than paying employees (they don't even use food runners; they have a robot to deliver food, and the staff still can't keep up with customers). We like the food, but unfortunately the declining service (which has been poor the past several times we've been there) will keep us from returning in the future.
When my wife and I walked in, we decided to give the restaurant a try because she had been there years ago and wanted to see if anything had changed enough to make us want to return. I ordered the teriyaki chicken kabobs for my appetizer and the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai. The food was delivered on a robot, which was pretty cool. However, the noodles in the Pad Thai were hard, the chicken tasted a bit stale, and they messed up my order; there were no shrimp in it. The man working there remade the dish, and while it was okay, the chicken still tasted like it was a day old. My wife didn’t care much for her Pho either. The biggest disappointment was that I came to visit this restaurant specifically to try the sushi, and there was no sign or notice on the door stating that sushi wouldn’t be available because the chef was gone for a week and a half. We didn't find out there was no sushi until we put our appetizer order in, which should have been told prior to us being seated. I was glad to give the restaurant a try, but I won’t be returning. The food lacked flavor, the decor was rather basic, and not having sushi, which was the main reason for my visit, was just too much of a letdown for a first visit.
I’m sorry, for those who say this place is good. This place is really not. I placed an order for pickup @12pm, expected wait time was 30 minutes, so pick up was @12:30pm. Got there @12:32pm, and the order wasn’t even made yet. Are you serious? Currently it’s 1:01pm, and im still waiting for my order, and the place is not busy. There is only 3-4 tables full, out of all of the tables
Ordered online for pick up and would be ready at 455p. Arrived right at 455. There were other people waiting for to go orders as well. Told a girl I was there for to go, told her the order info. Waited 40 minutes. Asked about how much longer and was told it would be coming out shortly. A few minutes later was told they were packing it up. After waiting an hour, was then told that 'they don't have my ticket'. Was given the option for a refund or to wait another 30 minutes for it to be made. Will not be ordering here again.
I’ve loved and supported this restaurant for years. We live close and had great (even labeled!) vegan options, which is rare in the east suburbs. Unfortunately the last time we ate here would be my last time. I brought my sister and her 10 month old daughter with me, for context. We ordered our food and made clear that it should all be vegan (as I’ve done many times before without an issue). The server/owner, Jeff, was helping us. If you’ve been to Bambu, you probably know him. He’s always working. While the beginning of our interaction was fine, this quickly changed. While eating our meal, he decided it was a good idea to carry around live crabs and ask us if we wanted to try the “specialty of the day”. With us being vegan, clearly making us uncomfortable and sort of being picked on. Later, he comes back to check on us and randomly asks my sister, “so are you forcing your baby to be vegan? Are you raising her in a vegan concentration camp?!” He said these exact words at least 1 other time because he clearly thought it was hilarious. Absolutely appalling. Why go out of your way to offer so many vegan friendly options, clearly labeling your menu with vegan options, then treat your vegan guests like this? I loved this place for so long, this experience was heartbreaking. It’s a bummer that this isn’t even an issue I can just “bring up to management” because it was the owner that was treating us like this. Other vegan customers, beware I guess.
Absolutely terrible food! We were here for a special celebration and you figure when your bill comes out to $300+ four adults and two elementary age kids would be full, NOPE! The portion size is a robbery for the price. The dishes are mostly cheap veggies (celery & bamboo). In fact all the dishes were given the illusion of a big serving with all the extra veggies that mixed in. The soft shell crab, walleye fillet, and seafood hotpot were the saddest looking dishes when paying a premium price. Flavors were worse than your high school culinary arts class. The ingredients were cheap quality. The raw oysters were fine, I did like the dressing on them. In conclusion, I won't come back even if my friends were going to treat me out here.
