Bar Etoile was A great experience we had dinner at the bar that im definitely begining to be a fan of you feel a bit more involved somehow and well you can get drinks faster as well if thats your thing and we'll its definitely mine. The atmosphere was fun but not loud, with a good elevated vibe. The central bar is a nice touch thoughtfully designed rather than overly expansive, with a limited cocktail selection aparrntly but a nice little coctail menu that felt well curated. The bartender was attentive and genuinely helpful, offering great menu and wine recommendations. The food was exciting and well executed. The menu works perfectly for sharing, making it easy to order several small plates and experience a range of flavors. Every dish felt intentional and memorable with strong roots in classical French but not restrained by it. I will definitely return and definitely sit at the bar again and try everything else on the menu.
The polenta was otherworldly, and I will be back for it over and over again. The savory cheesecake appetizer was great, but the sugar snap peas were our other favorite. Pavlova was great super sweet, so was nice paired with a white wine. The affogato though…. was a perfect end! Oh, and easy parking at the bank across the way. Bonus the place is gorgeous and plenty of room to eat at the bar.
Bar Etoile is a very welcome new addition to Melrose Hill! We started by grabbing a quick martini at sunset at their beautiful bar, the light coming through the windows was gorgeous. The wine by the glass list is impressive - the Telquel Rosé is deep and complex and we couldn’t help but order a second glass - and the food menu is fantastic. Chef Travis’ signature “Caesar tartare” will turn any non tartare lover into a tartare diehard. The Gruyère tart is incredibly unique - like a savory cheesecake, never tasted anything like it. Another standout was the endive salad with a savory meringue on top, again, super unique and simple at the same time. Lastly, the rotisserie chicken was wonderful - rich flavors, a little smokey, with perfectly crisp skin. We ate it too fast to take a photo. All in all, this is a place to come to for a regular mid week quick steak frites at the bar, or a place to celebrate a special occasion with friends while exploring the extensive, well curated wine list. Favorite new spot in LA.
Enjoyed Sparkling wine and hors d’oevres! The scallops crudo was nothing short of spectacular and the ricotta dumplings so beautifully presented and melted in your mouth! Simone was attentive and pleasant! Do not miss the chocolate tart with chantilly cream! We may have licked the plate!
Very delicious dinner! The vibe was fun, staff was friendly, good wine list. Standout dishes include, panzanella salad, steak, bass, ricotta dumplings. The little gem miso salad was mid as were the yams. Got to order right here!
Gorgeous bar and restaurant with immaculate vibes. Such a great selection of wines by the glass and extensive bottle list from the team at Domaine LA. Everything we ate was delicious but standouts were the yams, gruyère tart, and steak frites, but you truly can’t go wrong. Definitely a spot to add to your list!
I can’t say enough about our experience here. We enjoyed many items from the menu and the plates are well thought out, beautifully presented, the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. The owners and chef checked on us and we felt very welcome and appreciated.
New spot in melrose hill from the team behind Domaine LA. Amazing wine list, great food from chef Travis Hayden, rad space designed by Lovers Unite.
The food is very good accompanied by an excellent wine list, great service from everyone. Good job!
What a lovely evening. Sous chef Joe squeezed us in on day 4 of service, a bustling Friday night at 8:30pm, to the chicest rounded-corner two-top nestled with the perfect vantage point of bar and restaurant. Our order included Bub’s bread with house-cultured butter, the rockfish crudo, market gem lettuce salad, polenta with verjus braised leeks and steak-frites with a lovely Montpellier herb butter. Each dish was wonderfully balanced and paired nicely with our 4 different glasses of wine (we each tried two), our favorite being the cabernet franc. But their dessert program…my goodness that may be the shining star, pun intended. A trio of strawberry sorbet sweetened with house-made lemon sugar, buttermilk vanilla affogato and chocolate tart with passionfruit and crème patisserie - compliments of the Étoile team - smoothly and softly ended an amazing meal. Thank you to Joe along with owners Jill and Julian for an incredible experience and the warmest welcome. We will be back soon.
The food was great. My gf had sea bass for her main. And they were able to modify some items for me as I am vegan. Very fancy wine selection at a very reasonable price. Fresh organic produce & biodynamic wines. Friendly staff! Get reservations ahead of times as it gets busy! Beautiful space, will be back.
Their steak frites were some of the best we’ve had in awhile! Pavlova for dessert was excellent. Very stylish interior and great vibe!
One of the most beautiful restaurants in LA. Fight me. Service is wonderful… Trout dip on point. Tartare is so so good. Can’t wait to try more. All the wines are beyond. 12/10

We had a delicious meal tonight. Drinks were great! Started with the Cheese Tart which was tasty, followed by the Yao Chen Yams which were delicious. We shared the Pork Chop au Poivre. Pork Chop was cooked perfectly, and I was tempted to lick the sauce off the plate! The room is well decorated and comfortable. Next time I will reserved one of the cozy booths. Service was professional. Great selection of wine. Our meal was 5 star from start to finish. I highly recommend dining at Bar Etoile.
The Caesar tartare really stood out - the precise brunoise of the deliciously and consistently flavored beef, was really spectacular and rare. It sat on perfectly browned toast that had been thoughtfully cut to share and easily eat. I’ve never had such a good and unique tartare. You must have this if you go, I know I’ll be back for it. All of the other dishes we had were similarly thoughtful, beautiful, and delicious. Their Sabre silverware is just one of the details that confirms you are in a well-appointed, warm, inviting, and hip atmosphere. (And as a lover of Yves-Klein-blue, I love how often it is featured, especially in the bold benches outside!) My minor critiques were that the water glasses were a touch small, they required frequent refilling, which was difficult at a group dinner. The acoustics also made it so that we heard other loud diners too well, and each other not as well. But overall, a wonderful gem of a restaurant that I’ll definitely return to and recommend.
What a gem to find in the middle of Hollywood. The food is absolutely delicious. Tiny plates but totally filled me up. Decent bar. Very friendly. Now a little staff servers. This place will blow up and about 3 months and you won't get a table so come try it now.

Great spot with creative offerings and an incredible wine list. Service was very welcoming and friendly and they were very accommodating when we got stuck in traffic and we were a little late for our reservation. My only critique would be they would benefit from serving coffee cocktails for dessert. There was a fancy espresso machine, and all the ingredients to make an espresso martini, but when we asked about one for dessert they said they’re more wine focused, which made sense and I’m a wine nerd myself, but half the bar was drinking regular martinis which was a little confusing.
Very popping place. It was crowded inside and the tables are small and close to each other. The cheese tart was okay. I liked the steak frites a lot though

i never write reviews for restaurants but i just had to for this one because I hope no one else wastes their money here. The food was the worst I’ve had in LA. Service was very bad too. Pretty restaurant but go if you want to ruin your night with bad food
Atmosphere/ interior design was really good. Foods were okay/meh. Manager was rude. So she kind of ruined my friends and my time there.
