Avis sur Pranzi San Carlos
Delicious food, quiet atmosphere, attentive staff. We went on a cold rainy weeknight, so the Tomato/Basil soup really hit the spot. The sole has a nice texture and cooked just right. The seared sole has a slight crispness on the outside and soft flakiness inside. We will definitely be back.
My Friend and I loved, loved Pranzi! The Calamari was a little oily- but we like it like that! The Italian Paella was fantastic - I had to go to the Sous Chef to tell him those were the best-cooked scallops I've ever had. My Friend and I didn't care fir the chicjen pieces which we found bland but swirl it in that sauce and it was fine. Their Mousse Cake was delicious and adding chocolate curls and whipped cream with fresh mint elevated the dessert. We will be back...hopefully soon!
I'm staying at the nearby Residence Inn for business, and this looked like a good spot for takeout. OMG! My salad was ready when I got there, and the pasta was just getting finished - tossed into the box steaming. The server added some lovely focaccia bites. I had the squid ink pasta, and the sauce was exceptional. The shrimp were a little overdone, but everything else was excellent. The beet salad was incredible. I'm not fond of arugula, but I know that a lot of chefs use it for beet salads. It had the usual ingredients - beets, gorgonzola, and walnuts, but I think the dressing is what made it magical. I ate arugula and liked it! Also, I have enough of everything for lunch tomorrow. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area. Photo is how I plated it at my hotel.
PRANZI in San Carlos is an absolute gem. From start to finish, the experience was pure perfection—delicious dishes prepared with care, rich flavors that felt authentically Italian, and presentation that was as beautiful as it was satisfying. I highly recommend the lasagna and the truffle mac and cheese—both were decadent, flavorful, and truly unforgettable. Every bite tasted elevated yet comforting, and the attention to detail in both the food and service made the evening feel special. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and welcoming, creating a dining experience you’ll want to repeat. If you’re looking for exceptional Italian cuisine on the Peninsula, PRANZI delivers every time.
The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and prompt.
Enjoyed a very lovely lunch and excellent service. Seafood linguine was a bit more spicy than expected but everything was cooked perfectly. Even the chicken sandwich was moist and flavorful. They have a nicely decorated covered parklet out front with 8 tables.

The food was delicious and they have some serious presentation skills which I do appreciate. It was definitely value for money and I would love to visit this place again and recommend anyone who is craving for some good affordable Italian food. And to add the ambience was also very nice !!!
Been a regular for the past couple of years, great place, excellent food. Our favorite is the Bolognese. But the shrimp appetizer, and lasagna are also excellent. They treated us with apple crepe on the house that was delicious.
Food was great, we ordered some pasta and both the sauces and the pasta itself were cooked to perfection. We got a recommendation for a wine and while I didn't particularly like it, it wasn't bad. Really, it is a good place, we are definitely coming back.
Fantastic Italian food and delicious wine. We arrived early, but by around 7pm, many more people had arrived. A great place to revisit.

Dined here for the first time over the weekend. Sat at the bar, and Max, the bartender was really nice and attentive. We had a good time interacting with him. You get their type of foccacia bread with olive and balsamic vinegar that was really good. We started with the Bietole salad that was good. For our entree's, we had the Pan Seared Sole which was really tasty, and you get a nice portion of sole. We also had the Risotto, which was okay, but I'll try something else next time. The desserts are made in house, we had the Rosina Al Cioccalato, which was absolutely delicious!
Lasagna is excellent. Service very friendly. We ordered the seafood pasta which smelled and tasted off to us and so we requested a swap out to the bolognese instead. Our waitress did so with no qualms or hesitation! Bolognese was excellent as well. Tiramisu came with a candle as I’ve indicated on the reservation this was for a birthday meal and I appreciated the extra effort! The dessert was also complimentary for us I’m assuming for the seafood pasta disappointment on our part. Tiramisu was very creamy and delicious. Great portions. Interior decor is very tasteful. This is a good spot for a date night!
There is no 4.5 options. It was almost perfect, expecting knowing that they had limited outdoor dining I reserved a table for outdoors and when we arrived there wasn't a table ready for us outdoors, but after a short wait we did get to sit outside. Our server plus the other servers and workers were very nice and professional. Only issue was that our server refilled our wine glasses after I had put in the cork to signal we were done, but we ended up enjoying the last little bit of wine she gave us while taking in the outdoor seating area. And of course the food was amazing.
Excellent service! The food came out REALLY HOT. Almost too hot lol. Dishes were tasty overall. My risotto was a tad on the dry side. We will be back.
There are just soooo many good restaurants on the Peninsula. Searching for an Italian was not hard though. There are many but this place makes their pasta fresh! Found this last minute and making reservations was not hard. It was pretty packed, but tables are properly spaced out and there’s a nice outdoor seating area with heat lamps. My party and I shared a Caesar salad, shrimp apps, and then we each had an entrée. I had the squid ink pasta which was delish. I was definitely eyeing my bff’s salmon though. Talk about good portions! We brought our own wine and I believe corkage was $25. Our waitress was awesome, although I forgot her name. ☹ Only thing I’d say is parking can be hard to find. Allow yourself some time so you can park and walk over.
Definitely in love with the interior design of the restaurant. Love the lightings and wooden decorations and the overall ambience. Food looks great and tastes good but not amazing or memorable. The fried artichokes are special though.
First time eating here for lunch which was a recommendation from my co-worker. We took our clients here and ate outside. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendly, polite, attentive servers. Food was plentiful! Ordered the burrata bruschetta, artichokes, and calamari. My favorite was the artichokes which was lightly breaded and packed with flavor. My entree was the Farm Chicken. The server kindly informed me that it would take 20-25mins to grill. It was worth the wait. Very moist and tender with the skin grilled crispy. It's Mary's organic chicken which, educated by my colleagues is premium poultry. What an enjoyable experience dining here!
Came here on a quiet Wednesday evening. Ordered bruschetta, and the special, gnocchi. My dining partner ordered a squid ink seafood pasta. The bruschetta was presented in a very nice carefully prepared fashion and tasted good. The gnocchi was filling and very tasty, with bits of meat. The season pasta included mussels and shrimp, and was quite tasty. The service was attentive, although the restaurant was empty, since it was pretty late.
They had our table of 6 ready for us even though we called 30 minutes before which was great! The free bread and butter were bland (the butter was whipped and a light mint color which we guessed was basil but couldn't tell). The bruschetta and calamari appetizers along with the pasta dishes were perfectly cooked. The tomato sauce that came with the calamari was amazingly fresh and much better on the bread than the butter. While the branzino was cooked perfectly, I found it to be a bit bland.

We had a nice al fresco lunch here. We enjoyed the shrimp in sauteed veggies and onions. However the chicken parm breading was mushy and noodles on the softer side in a generic red sauce. At $20, we didnt expect the truffle gnocchi to come with shaved truffle but it still didnt have much of the earthy fungus flavor. The staff were all pleasant.
Food was below average in general, but atmosphere was good. We order calamari for appetizer, and it tasted like rubber… doesn’t seem that way in other posts. My veal tasted quite plain as well.

Some food is great and very flavorful like the shishito peppers and the burrata. Other dishes are completely flavorless like the special risotto (even salt and pepper barely helped). Also service here is lacking, it took so long to get our food and others had their food out in a timely manor. Also they initially set the wrong dishes in front of us (meant for another table). I realize it's a Saturday night but I was hoping for a lot better given the price.
